فَالِقُ الۡاِصۡبَاحِ‌ۚ  وَ جَعَلَ الَّيۡلَ سَكَنًا وَّالشَّمۡسَ وَالۡقَمَرَ حُسۡبَانًا‌ ؕ ذٰلِكَ تَقۡدِيۡرُ الۡعَزِيۡزِ الۡعَلِيۡمِ‏

 

Faa-lay-qool-iss-baa-ha-wa                                                                                                              Ja-aa-lul-lai-la-sa-ka-nun-wa(ush)                                                                                                    Ush-sham-sa-wul-qa-ma-ra-hoo-baa-naa                                                                                        Za-lay-ka-tuq-de-rool-aa-zee-zil-aa-lee-m

 

The splitter of the mornings and                                                                                            He made the night for peace                                                                                                    And the sun and the moon for measuring time.                                                                This is the destiny determined by the Mightiest, the Most Knowing. 

 

  • فَالِقُ — Faa-lay-qo … (ol) — Splitter (= n., One who breaks open or severs. Cutter. Grower. Hewer. Ripper. Separator. Slasher. Slicer. Splitter. Tearer. A/t/a, ‘Cleaver,’ ‘He is the Clever,’ ‘that cleveth,’ ‘He cleaves,’ ‘He causes,’ ‘He causes the break’and ‘He kindles’)
  • الۡاِصۡبَاحِ‌ — Iss-baah — The mornings (= n., pl., Early part of the day or dawn. A/t/a, ‘the break of day,’ ‘the daybreak (from the night,’ ‘of the daybreak (from the dark of the night),’ ‘daybreak,’ ‘day-break (from the dark),’ ‘day-break’ and ‘the light of dawn’)
  • وَ —  Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • جَعَلَ — Ja-aa-la — He made (= v., past., s., 3rd person., Appointed ; brought into being; created; designed; fashioned; made; set up. A/t/a, ‘has made,’ ‘makes,’ ‘He hath appointed,’ ‘He has ordained’ and ‘GOD appointed’)
  • الَّيۡلَ — Lai-la — The night (= n., s., Absence of sunlight; the opposite of a sunlit day;  period of darkness between the sunset and next sunrise. Nighttime; nightly hours)
  • سَكَنًا — Sa-ka-nun  — For peace (= adj., Contentment; peace; satisfaction; serenity; security stationary; tranquility. A/t/a, ‘for rest,’ for rest and tranquility,’ ‘for  testing’ and ‘for stillness’)
  • وَّ — Wa … (ush) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • الشَّمۡسَ — Ush-shum-sa — The sun (= n., The bright astronomical object or star located at the center of our solar system around which the Earth and other planets orbit and from which they receive their light and heat. The unending source of light, heat and energy necessary for life and vegetation on earth)
  • وَ — Wa…(ul) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • الۡقَمَرَ — Ul-Qa-ma-ra — The moon (= n., Physically an astronomical body that orbits Earth)
  • حُسۡبَانًا‌ — Hoos-baa-nun — For measuring (= adj., Lookout; picket; protector; sentinel; sentry; watch. In different context the word means defense, fortification, safeguard or shield. A/t/a, ‘the means for reckoning time,’ ‘for reckoning,’ ‘for reckoning time,’ ‘for the reckoning of time,’ ‘for reckoning (of time)’ and ‘For the reckoning (of time)’
  • ذٰلِكَ — Zaa-lay-ka — This is (= Here; refers to an aforesaid fact, person or statement; it’s because; right here; such is this; that is how it is. A/t/a, ‘This is,’ ‘Such is’ and ‘That is)
  • تَقۡدِيۡرُ — Tuq-de-roo — The destiny (= n., Absolute reality; certainty; certitude; firm fact;   inevitability. A/t/a, ‘measuring,’ ‘measure determined,’ ‘the judgment and ordering of (Him),’ ‘the decree of,’ ’the Ordaining’ and ‘ordinance of Allah’ )
  • الۡعَزِيۡزِ — Aa-zee-z … (il) — Mightiest (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most, and highlights that none more than Him is The Revered, The Highest, The Most Exalted, Honored  and Respected. All-Mighty. Exalted in might and   power. Mightiest. word includes the meanings of might with respect. See 001:001. A/t/a, ‘All-Mighty,’ ‘the Mighty,’ ‘the Mighty One’ and ‘The Exalted in Power’)
  • الۡعَلِيۡمِ‏ — Aa-lee-m — All-Knowing   (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most, and highlights that none more than Him knows. See 001:001. Informed to the maximum. The One with total knowledge and nothing out of sight. Knows all.  Most Knowledgeable. Well-Acquainted. Well-Aware. A/t/a, ’All-Knowing,’ ‘The Wise,’ ‘The Omniscient’ and ‘the Knowing’)
