The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                           006:106

 

وَكَذٰلِكَ نُصَرِّفُ الۡاٰيٰتِ وَلِيَقُوۡلُوۡا دَرَسۡتَ وَلِنُبَيِّنَهٗ لِقَوۡمٍ يَّعۡلَمُوۡنَ

 

Wa-ka-zaa-lay-ka-no-sur-ray-fool-aa-yaa-tay                                                                          Wa-lay-ya-qoo-loo-da-rus-ta                                                                                                              Wa-lay-no-buy-yun-na-hoo-lay-qao-min-yau-la-moo-n

 

And like this We display the signs                                                                                        And for their saying, “You taught (yourself and others very) well,”                        And for Our explaining further for people knowing the basics.

 

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • كَ — Ka — Like (= Identical; resembling; similar to the one stated in prior verse to. Take the example or similitude of)
  • ذٰلِكَ — Zaa-lay-ka — This is (= Here; refers to an aforesaid fact, person or statement;  it’s because; right here; such is this; that is how it is.  A/t/a, ‘Thus’)
  • نُصَرِّفُ — No-sur-ray-fo(l) — We explain (= v., pres., pl., 1st person. Bring up one thing after another by rotation so others may see them. Cause to be seen. Display. Show. A/t/a, ‘We repeat,’ ‘We make plain,’ ‘We expound … in diverse ways,’ ‘expound,’ ‘do we display,’ ‘do We vary that the truth may get established,’  ‘do We explain … in various ways that the truth may become established,’ ‘do We explain … by various (symbols),’ ‘we explain variously’ and ‘do We explain Our … revelations in diverse ways that the truth might become evident)’
  • الۡاٰيٰتِ — Aa-ya-tay — The Signs (= n., pl of … An argument, corroboration, indication, insinuation, pointer, portent, prof, sign, suggestion, symbol or token. See Note 002:074. A/t/a, ‘messages,’ ‘ Our revelations,’ ‘revelations’ and ‘the Verses’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above. A/t/a, ‘but the result is’ and ‘but (its one result is)’
  • لِ — Lay — For (= For the object, person, purpose or reason of; intended for; meant for; on account of; concerning; regarding; relative to. A/t/a, ‘That’ and ‘so that’)
  • يَقُوۡلُوۡا — Ya-qoo-loo — They say (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Announce; broadcast; call;  convey; declare; inform; elaborate; explain; specify; tell. A/t/a, ‘they say,’ ‘they may say,’ ‘they may say (unto thee Muhammad,’ ‘they should concede,’ ‘disbelievers say,’ they (the disbelievers) may say’ and ‘they (- the disbelievers) will say (to the Prophet)’
  • دَرَسۡتَ — Da-rus-ta —  You taught well (= v., past., s., 2nd person. You taught yourself and other people well, accurately and truthfully. A/t/a, ‘thou has studied,’ ‘Thou hast studied,’ ‘Thou hast taught (us) diligently,’ ‘Thou hast read out to us,’ ‘thou hast learnt well,’ ‘You have learnt well and diligently (from previous Scripture),’ ‘Thou hast read out what thou hast learnt,’ ‘You have studied (the Books of the people of the Scripture and brought this Qur’an from that),’ ‘You have studied’ and ‘You have studied deep’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above. A/t/a, ‘but’)
  • لِ — Lay — For (= For the object, purpose or reason of. See  لِ  above. A/t/a, ‘that,’ ‘(We vary the revelations) that’ and ‘We vary the Signs that’)
  • نُبَيِّن — No-buy-yun-na — We make clear (= v., pres., pl., 1st person. Declare openly. Explain. Make clear. Make Truth known. Manifest the stance towards the Truth. Open what is hidden before. A/t/a, ‘We may make The matter clear,’ ‘We may make it clear,’ ‘We may make (it) clear,’ We may explain,’ ‘it may be a clear explanation from us’ and ‘may become clear’)
  • هٗ — Hoo — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid shown, specified or stated article, thing or person)
  • لِ — Lay — For (= For the object, purpose or reason of. See لِ  above. A/t/a, ‘to’)
  • قَوۡمٍ — Qao-min — People (= n., s., Addressees; attendees; fellows; followers; folks. A/t/a, ‘a people,’ ‘the people,’ ‘those who’ and ‘men’)
  • يَعۡلَمُوۡنَ — Yau-la-moo-na — Knowing (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person., Knowing the consequences of their calumny and enormity of their prior wrongs. A/t/a, ‘who know,’ ‘who have knowledge’ and ‘of understanding’)
