فَمَنۡ يُّرِدِ اللّٰهُ اَنۡ يَّهۡدِيَهٗ يَشۡرَحۡ صَدۡرَهٗ لِلۡاِسۡلَامِ‌ۚ  وَمَنۡ يُّرِدۡ اَنۡ يُّضِلَّهٗ يَجۡعَلۡ صَدۡرَهٗ ضَيِّقًا حَرَجًا كَاَنَّمَا يَصَّعَّدُ فِى السَّمَآءِ‌ؕ  كَذٰلِكَ يَجۡعَلُ اللّٰهُ الرِّجۡسَ عَلَى الَّذِيۡنَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ

Fa-mun-yo-ray-dil-laa-ho-un-yah-day-ya-hoo                                                                        Yush-rah-sud-ra-hoo-lil-iss-laa-m

Wa-mun-yo-rid-un-yo-dzil-la-hoo                                                                                                    Yuj-ul-sud-ra-hoo-zuy-yay-qun-ha-ra-jun                                                                                    Ka-un-na-maa-yus-sau-aa-do-fis-sa-maa-aiy

Ka-zaa-lay-ka-yuj-aa-lool-la-hoor-rij-sa                                                                                      Alul-la-ze-na-laa-yoe-may noo-n

 

So, anyone Allah destines that He guides him,                                                              He broadens his mind to accept Islam.

And anyone that He destines to let him go astray,                                                        He places his mind in a mode of restriction and detestation                                      Like he is just dangling in space. 

Like this Allah places uncleanness                                                                                      On those who do not believe.

 

  • فَ — Fa — Then (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; in conclusion; so; thereafter; therefore; thus. A/t/a, ‘So,’ ‘And,’ ‘But’ and ‘If’)
  • مَنۡ — Mun — Who (= Anyone; whoever; whom; whomever; whoso. A/t/a, ‘Those whom,’ ‘whosoever,’ ‘whomsoever,’ ‘as to whom’ and ‘a man’)
  • يُّرِدِ — Yo-ray-d … (il) — He destines (= v., pres., s., m., 3rd person. Used for the Almighty God, the word in the present tense means that He adjudges, allows, chooses, concludes, decides, decrees, destines, determines, finalizes, means, permits, plans, pleases, prefers or wills. A/t/a, ‘intends,’ ‘wishes,’ ‘is …. Will’ and ‘(in His Plan) Willeth’)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • اَنۡ — Un — That (= So that)
  • يَّهۡدِيَ — Yah-daay-ya — Guides (= v., pres., m., s., 3rd person. He directs the best way; gives good guidance; provides opportunities with the appropriate directions; leads on level linier lines; puts on proper path. Shows sure success. Also, avoids evil to enable man reach his noble aims, goals and objects. A/t/a, ‘to guide’)
  • هٗ — Hoo — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid person)
  • يَشۡرَحۡ — Yush-rah —He broadens (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Increases comprehension and understanding; expands; opens; unlocks; widens. Also, comforts; dilates; exposes; illuminates; lifts, unlocks; widens. A/t/a, ‘openeth’ and expandeth’)
  • صَدۡرَ — Sud-ra — Mind (= n., s., Bosom; breast; chest; heart; hidden thoughts in a human breast; soul. Also, ideas, outlook and views. A/t/a, ‘mind,’ ‘breast,’ ‘bosom’ and ‘chest’)
  • هٗ — Hoo — His (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid person)
  • لِلۡ — L … (il) — For / to (= Concerning; for; regarding; relative to; intended for; to;  towards. A/t/a, ‘for the acceptance of,’ ‘to the acceptance of’ and ‘unto’)
  • اِسۡلَامِ — Iss-laam — Iss-laam (= n., Faith; peaceful; state of total submission. A/t/a, ‘the  ‘Surrender’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • مَنۡ — Mun — Who (= Anyone; whoever; whom. See  مَنۡ  above)
  • يُّرِدۡ — Yo-rid — He destines (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Here the word is used for God.  See يُّرِدِ  above. A/t/a, ‘wills,’ willeth,’ ‘allows,’ ‘intends,’ ‘wishes,’ pleases’ and ‘it is His will’)
  • اَنۡ — Un — That (= So that)
  • يُّضِلَّ — Yo-dzil-la — He lets go stray (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Used with God Almighty this word means He lets man stray, go his own way, lead himself or turn in wrong direction. See Note 003:070. A/t/a, ‘to leave in error,’ ‘to let go astray,’ ‘to go astray,’ ‘he should go astray,’ ‘To leave straying’ and to leave astray.’ But ‘to send astray’ and ‘to mislead’ is against GOD’s nature of being Forgiving)
  • هٗ — Hoo — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid person)
  • يَجۡعَلُ  — Yuj-aa-lo —He places (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Appoints; brings out; causes; converts, creates; directs, grants, makes out, places, renders, sets up; turns up; wills. See Note 002:031. A/t/a, ‘He maketh,’ ‘He makes’ and ‘He causes’)
  • صَدۡرَ — Sud-ra — Heart (= n., s., Refers to mind. Literally breast; bosom; chest)
  • هٗ — Hoo — His (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid person)
  • ضَيِّقًا — Zuy-yay-qun — In restriction (= adj., Extremely narrow; slim; limited; thin; tight. In restrictive mode. A/t/a, ‘constricted,’ ‘close,’ ‘strait’ and ‘closed’)
  • حَرَجًا — Ha-ra-jun — Detestation (= adj., 1. Abhorrence, aversion, abomination, detestation, devaluation, dislike, hatred, loathing, repugnancy, resentment, resistance, revolting, unwillingness. 2. Being absent-minded, adrift, baffled, bewildered, confused, disoriented, flummoxed, fuddled, gone out of mind, hesitant, lost, misled, misplaced, staggered, stunned, stupefied, or with objection and reservation. See Note 006:126. A/t/a, ‘closed,’ ‘close,’ ‘narrow,’ oppressed,’ ‘constricted’ and ‘small’)
  • كَ — Ka — Like (= Identical; resembling; similar to the one stated earlier. Take the example or similitude of. A/t/a, ‘as if’ and ‘as though’)
  • أَنَّمَآ — Un-na-maa — Most certainly (= Combination of two words. The first word أَنَّٓ (unna) means absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; positively; really; seriously; surely; truly; verily. The second word  مَاۤ  (maa) means all that, what; whatever; whatsoever. Thus اَنَّمَا (unna-maa) lays great emphasis on the statement that follows it as absolutely, positively and most certainly accurate’)
  • يَصَّعَّدُ  — Yus-sau-do — He dangling (= v., pret., s., 3rd person. Floating; hanging; hovering; sagging; struggling; suspending. A/t/a, ‘they had to climb,’ ‘he was mounting up,’ ‘he were mounting,’ ‘he is climbing,’ ‘he were climbing,’ ‘he were ascending’ and ‘he were engaged’)
  • فِى — F… (is) — In (= In a duration, event, time, place, period or thing. See Note 002:028. A/t/a, ‘in.’ ‘into,’ ‘up into,’ ‘up’ and ‘up to’)
  • السَّمَآءِ — Sa-maa-aiy — Space (= n., s., Sky. All above ground, on earth or in space. Firmament, heaven, space or world. Universe. A/t/a, ‘skies,’ ‘upwards,’ ‘sheer ascent’ and ‘the heights’)
  • كَذٰلِكِ — Ka-zaa-lay-ka — Like this (= Combines two words.  كَ  means ‘example, like, identical resembling, similar.  ذٰلِكَ  means ‘all this right in here and refers to an aforesaid event, fact, person or statement. The combination means ‘even so,’ ‘so it will be,’ ‘such is the way,’ ‘the same way,’ ‘that is how’ or ‘this way’. A/t/a, ‘thus’ and ‘just’)
  • يَجۡعَلُ — Yuj-aa-lo — He places (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Appoints; causes; places; sets up. See  يَجۡعَلُ  above. See Note 002:031. A/t/a, ‘Doth … (heap),’ ‘does … lay,’ ‘does … inflict,’ ‘layeth,’ ‘lays’ and ‘puts’)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho … (or) — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • الرِّجۡسَ — Rij-sa — Uncleanliness (= adj., Dirty; filthy; grimy; grubby; indecency; lewdness; messy; mucky; muddy; offensive; smutty; soiled; uncleanliness. A/t/a, ‘penalty,’ ‘punishment,’ ‘ignominy,’ ‘wrath,’ ‘abomination’ and ‘scourge’)
  • عَلٰى — Alaa — On (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; on top of; over; to; upon)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to those articles, persons, or phenomenon or things in masculine gender. A/t/a, ‘those who’)
  • لَا — Laa — Do not (= Naught; neither; never; none; nor; not at all; absolute denial and total negation without exception)
  • يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ — Yoe-ma-noo-n — Believe (= v., pret., pl., 3rd person. Believe in Iss-laam. Become Moslem. Have faith. See Commentary Believers and Disbelievers. A/t/a, ‘believe,’ ‘who refuse to believe,’ ‘those who do not believe,’ ‘believe not’ and ‘unbelievers’)
