قَدۡ خَسِرَ الَّذِيۡنَ قَتَلُوۡۤا اَوۡلَادَهُمۡ سَفَهًۢا بِغَيۡرِ عِلۡمٍ وَّحَرَّمُوۡا مَا رَزَقَهُمُ اللّٰهُ افۡتِرَآءً عَلَى اللّٰهِ ‌ؕ  قَدۡ ضَلُّوۡا وَمَا كَانُوۡا مُهۡتَدِيۡنَ‏

 

Qud  kha-say-ra  ul-la-zee-na  qa-ta-loo  auo-laa-da  hoom                                                        Sa-fa-hun  bay-ghai-ray  il-min                                                                                                        Wa  hur-ra-moo  maa  ra-za-qa  ho-mool  laa-ho                                                                            (Of)-ta-ra-aa-o  aa-lul  laa-hay                                                                                                        Qud  dzul-loo  wa  maa  kaa-noo  moh-ta-dee-n 

 

Lost surely are those who ruined their children                                                          Foolishly without knowledge                                                                                              And prohibited what Allah provided for them                                                          Imputing falsity on Allah.                                                                                                  They went astray and were not rightly guided.

 

The first three (3) words of verses 006:032 and 006:141 are the same

  • قَدۡ — Qud — Surely (= This word lays emphasis like very definitely; surely. See Note 004:049 and our Commentary titled the ‘2 Words of Emphasis used together Multiply Effect’ A/t/a, ‘indeed’ and ‘Certainly’)
  • خَسِرَ — Kha-say-ra … (ul) — Lost (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Caused loss or harm; destroyed; failed; gone; harmed in big way; suffered loss; wasted A/t/a, ‘lost.’ But the noun such as in ‘are loosers,’ ‘Losers are,’ ‘Losers … are’  and ‘they suffer a loss’  are no translations of what the Holy Qor-aan has described with a verb)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to those articles, persons, or phenomenon or things in masculine gender. A/t/a, ‘(those) who’ and ‘they who’)
  • قَتَلُوۡۤا — Qa-ta-loo — Killed (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Destroyed; ended life; killed;   murdered; perished; ruined; slayed Meanings of this word explained in Commentary Jihad – Is It Fighting. A/t/a, ‘have slain’ and ‘have killed,’ But the verb in the present tense such as in ‘kill’ and ‘slay‘  is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has described in the past tense)
  • ا اَوۡلَادَ — Auo-laa-da — Children (= n., pl., Babies. Boys and girls. Future generations. Infants. Off-springs. Sons and daughters. Progeny. Successors)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • سَفَهًۢا — Sa-fa-hun … (b) — Foolishly (= adv., Fool; ignorant; low-witted; retarded; silly; slow; stupid. Being of a feeble, immature or weak mind. A/t/a, ‘besottedly,’ ‘wantonly,’ ‘in folly (and) ignorance’ and ‘folly’)
  • بِغَيۡرِ — Bay-ghai-ray — Without (= Separately the word بِ means with and غَيۡرِ means  other or else. The combination means without. A/t/a, ‘for lack of’)
  • عِلۡمٍ — Il-min — Knowledge (= n., Awareness; knowledge. A/t/a, (jointly with the prior word) ‘out of ignorance,’ ‘in … ignorance,’ ‘in their ignorance’ and ‘ignorance’)
  • وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • حَرَّمُوۡا — Hur-ra-moo — They prohibited (= v.,  past., pl., 3rd person. Banned; barred; disallowed; disapproved; excluded; forbidden; interdicted; made illegal; outlawed; not authorized or permitted; proscribed; stopped. A/t/a, ‘forbidden,’ ‘have forbidden’ and ‘made  unlawful.’ But the present tense like in ‘forbid,’ ‘forbid (themselves)’ and ‘make  unlawful’ is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has described in the past tense)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — All that (= What; whatever; whatsoever; when. A/t/a, ‘that which’)
  • رَزَقَ — Ra-za-qa — Provided (= v. past., pl., 3rd person. Bestowed; blessed; conferred;  delivered; donated; furnished; gave; gifted; granted. supplied. A/t/a, ‘the food … provided for,’ ‘provided for,’ ‘bestowed upon’ and ‘has given’)
  • هُمُ — Ho-mo … (l) — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho … (f) — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • افۡتِرَآءً — If-ta-raa-un — As concoction (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Fiction; fabrication; fantasy. This word shows an action pursuing for bad results and not for any good outcome; see details in 003:025. A/t/a, ‘fabricating a lie,’ ‘forging a lie,’ ‘forging lies,’ ‘inventing (lies),’ ‘inventing a lie,’ ‘inventing falsehoods’ and ‘falsely ascribing prohibitions’)
  • عَلٰى — Ala … (ul) — On (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; on top of; over; to;  upon. A/t/a, ‘about’ and ‘in the name of’
  • اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • قَدۡ — Qud — Surely (= Definitely; indeed; surely. See  قَدۡ  above)
  • ضَلُّوۡا — Dzul-loo — Went astray (= v., past., pl, 3rd person. Blundered; misguided; mistaken strayed; turned in wrong direction or road. A/t/a, ‘gone astray’ and ‘go astray’)
  • وَ  — Wa  — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ   above)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — Not (= Never; no; none; not all)
  • كَانُوۡۤا — Kaa-noo — They were (= v., past., pl., m., 3rd person., Continued doing; had   been; went on; were doing. A/t/a, ‘were,’ ‘are’ and ‘have … chosen to be’)
  • مُهۡتَدِيۡنَ — Moh-ta-dee-n — Those guided (= n., pl. Those who have been directed, guided, led, put or shown the correct course, level line, proper path or right road. A/t/a, ‘guided,’ ‘rightly guided’ and ‘heeded … guidance’)
