The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                  006:161

 

  مَنۡ جَآءَ بِالۡحَسَنَةِ فَلَهٗ عَشۡرُ اَمۡثَالِهَا‌ ۚ وَمَنۡ جَآءَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ فَلَا يُجۡزٰٓى اِلَّا مِثۡلَهَا وَهُمۡ لَا يُظۡلَمُوۡنَ‏

           

 Mun-jaa-aa-bil-ha-sa-na-tay-fa-la-hoo-ush-ra-um-thaa-lay-haa                                          Wa-mun-jaa-aa-bis-suy-ya-tay-fa-laa-yooj-zaa-il-laa-mith-la-haa                                        Wa-hoom-laa-yooz-la-moo-n

 

The reward for one who came with the goodness is ten times like it.                      And one who came with the bad won’t be awarded except just like it.                    And they won’t be wronged.

 

  • مَنۡ — Mun — One who (= Anyone; who; whoever; whom; whomever; whoso; whosoever. A/t/a, ‘He that’)
  • جَآءَ — Jaa-aa — Came (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Arrived; reached; returned. In different contexts the word can mean achieved, brought, delivered, settled or succeeded. A/t/a, ‘doeth,’ ‘bringeth,’ ‘brings,’ ‘does’ but saying so in the present tense is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • بِ — B … (il) — With (= Literally the word  بِ  means with)
  • الۡحَسَنَةِ — Ha-sa-na-tay — Goodness (= n., Achievement; anything good; best of the things in the best of the forms; blessing; good fortune; success; lucky break; lucky chance. A/t/a, ‘good,’ ‘a good deed’ and ‘good deed (Islamic Monotheism and deeds of obedience to Allah and His Messenger s.a.w)’
  • فَ — Fa — Then (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; in conclusion; so; thereafter; therefore; thus)
  • لَ — La — For (= For the object, person, purpose or reason of; intended for; meant for; concerning; regarding; relative to. A/t/a, ‘shall have … to his credit,’ ‘shall have,’ ‘will receive’ and ‘shall be repaid’)
  • هٗ — Hoo — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid person)
  • عَشۡرُ — Ush-ro — Ten (= #10; cardinal number that equals the sum of 9 + 1. A/t/a, ‘tenfold’)
  • اَمۡثَالِ — Um-thaa-lay — Like (= n., pl. Duplicate; identical in nature; just like; the same way. resembling; similar; substitute. Of the same kind, looks quality, shape or type. Of comparable recital. A/t/a, ‘times,’ ‘like,’ ‘the like of’ and ‘the like’)
  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to aforesaid goodness. A/t/a, ‘it,’ ‘as much’ and ‘thereof’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • مَنۡ — Mun — Onw who (= Anyone; whoever; whoso. See  مَنۡ  above. A/t/a, ‘he who’)
  • جَآءَ — Jaa-aa — Came (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Arrived; reached. See جَآءَ above. A/t/a, ‘brings,’ ‘bringeth,’ ‘does’ and ‘commits’ but saying so in the present tense is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • بِ — B … (iss) — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with)
  • السَّيِّئَةِ — Suy-ya-tay — A bad  act (= n., s., An evil, crime; error, illegality, misdeed, mistake, occurrence or wrong — done accidentally or forgetfully without much premeditated intention. Generally used for an unintended accidental occurrence. A/t/a, ‘ill,’ ‘ill deed,’ ‘evil deed,’ ‘an evil deed (polytheism, disbelief, hypocrisy, and deeds of disobedience to Allah and His Messenger  s.a.w)’
  • فَ — Fa– Then (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; in conclusion; so; thereafter; therefore; thus)
  • لَا — Laa — Not (= Naught; neither; never; none; nor; not at all; absolute denial and total negation without exception)
  • يُجۡزٰٓى — Yooj-zaa — Be awarded (= v., pres., pass., s., 3rd person. Compensated; paid back; reimbursed. A/t/a, ‘will be awarded,’ ‘shall be rewarded with,’ ‘shall have,’ ‘shall be requitted with,’ ‘shall be requitted only with,’ ‘be recompensed,’ ‘shall have only the recompense of,’ ‘will be recompensed only with the,’ ‘shall be recompensed only in the’ and ‘shall be recompensed only the’)  
  • اِلَّا — Il-laa — Except (= Apart from; but; besides; excluding; save; unless. A/t/a, ‘a matter apart’ and ‘but’)
  • مِثۡلَ — Mith-la — Like (= Duplicate; identical in nature; See  مِثۡلَ  above. A/t/a, ‘According to his evil,’ ‘the like,’ ‘in proportion ( to the evil done),’ ‘evil’ and ‘only a like reward’)
  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to aforesaid group. A/t/a, ‘thereof’)
  • وَ — Wa — and (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — They (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • لَا — Laa — Not (= Naught; neither; never; none; nor. See  لَا  above)
  • يُظۡلَمُوۡنَ — Yooz-la-moo-n — Be wronged (= v. pres., pass., pl., 3rd person. Dealt unjustly; done or shown injustice; given diminished return; harmed; paid less than due, paid less than full; shorted; transgressed. A/t/a, ‘shall … be wronged,’ ‘will … be wronged,’  ‘wrong shall be done unto (any of) them’ and ‘shall … be dealt with unjustly.’  The word implies being given a harder and harsher punishment)
