The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                          007:003

كِتٰبٌ اُنۡزِلَ اِلَيۡكَ فَلَا يَكُنۡ فِىۡ صَدۡرِكَ حَرَجٌ مِّنۡهُ لِتُنۡذِرَ بِهٖ وَذِكۡرٰى لِلۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ‏

Kay-taa-boon  oon-za-la  elai  ka                                                                                                        Fa  laa  ya-koon  fee  saud-ry  ka                                                                                                      Ha-ra-joon  min  ho  lay  ton-zay-ra  bay  he                                                                                  Wa  zik-raa  lay  il-moe-may-nee-n

A Book was entrusted to you.                                                                                                  So let not there be in your heart                                                                                          Any reservation about it that you may warn with it                                                        And it’s a reminder for the Believers.

• كِتٰبٌ — Kay-taa-boon — A Book (= n., The Divine Directive of Commands, Prohibitions  and Regulations. Holy Scripture. See verse 002:003.  A/t/a, ‘A Book,’ ‘The Quran is a noble book,’ ‘This is a book,’ ‘This (Qur’an is) a (Glorious) Book,’ ‘(This is the) Book (the Qur’an),’ ‘A Book Qur’an’ and ‘This book’)
• اُنۡزِلَ — Oon-zay-la — Was entrusted (= v., past., pass., s, 3^rd person. Dispatched, given, granted, inspired; revealed. Handed, laid, lowered, or sent down. Also, delivered; landed upon; provided; released; supplied. See Note 002:005a. A/t/a, ‘sent down’ and ‘that is revealed’)
• اِلَيۡ — E-lai — To (= In the direction of; to; towards. A/t/a, ‘to’  and ‘unto’)
• كَ — Ka —  You (= pro., s., m., 2^nd person. You one male. See Note 002:005. A/t/a, ‘you (O Muhammad s.a.w),’ ‘thee (Muhammad)’ and ‘thee’)
• فَ — Fa — So (= Consequently; so; thereafter; therefore; then; thus; yet; at the end; finally; hence; in)
• لَا — Laa — Not (= Naught; neither; never; none; nor; not at all; absolute denial; total negation. A/t/a, ‘no more’)
• يَكُنۡ — Ya-koon — There be (= v., past., s., m., 3^rd person. Continued doing; used to;  went on; were doing. A/t/a, ‘let there be’ and ‘let’)
• فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Among. Inside a person or place. See Note 002:028. A/t/a, ‘in’ and ‘upon’)
• صَدۡرِ  — Saud-ray — Heart (= n., s., Refers to mind. Literally breast; bosom; chest)
• كَ — Ka — Your (= pro., s., m., 2^nd person. You. See كَ  above. A/t/a, ‘thy’)
• حَرَجٌ — Ha-ra-joon — Reservation (= n., The word  حَرَجٌ  primarily means an obstruction and stoppage. Its usage in a text highlights its different nuances and the consequent shades of its meanings as explained in Note 004:066. As a noun reflecting action due to hesitancy. This verse has a command: “Have no reservation in your heart to warn with it. And it’s a reminder for the Believers.” The Holy Prophet, s.a.w.,  had no reason to stop him from practicing, preaching or this command. So, the following are most appropriate of the meanings of this word in that context: Dawdling. Delaying. Dithering. Dillydallying. Faltering. Hesitating. Indecision. Obstruction. Pause. Qualm. Reservation. Shillyshallying. Thinking.. Wavering.  A/t/a, ‘constraint,’ ‘straitness,’ ‘constriction,’ ‘straitening,’ ‘heaviness,’ ‘be oppressed … any difficulty,’ ‘be troubled’ and ‘be narrow’)
• مِّنۡهُ — Min-ho — About it (= Combination of two words. The 1^st word is  مِنۡ  (min) that means among, from, out of. The 2^nd word  هُ (ho) is a pronoun for a single male in 3^rd person that refers to the aforesaid person or thing or event as it. Together they mean about, from or out of it. A/t/a, ‘on account of it,’ ‘concerning it,’ ‘therefrom,’ ‘on this account,’ ‘about it’ and ‘on that account’)
• لِ — Lay — For (= For the object, person, purpose or reason of; intended for; meant for; on account of; concerning; regarding; relative to. A/t/a, ‘Its purpose is that … mayest,’ ‘thou mayest,’ ‘mayest,’ ‘may,’ ‘mighest’ and ‘that’)
• تُنۡذِرَ — Toon-zay-ra — You warn (= v., pres., 2^nd person. Frighten; cause fear; make afraid; scare. A/t/a, ‘thou … warn.’ ‘thou warn,’ ‘thou … warn (the erring),’ ‘you …  warn (the erring),’ ‘you … warn’ and ‘you warn’)
• بِ — Bay — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with. A/t/a, ’with’)
• هٖ — He — It (= pro., s., m., 3^rd person. Refers to the aforesaid person. A/t/a, ‘it,’ ‘thereby’  and ‘herewith’)
• وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet. A/t/a, ‘and it be’)
• ذِكۡرٰى — Zik-raa — Reminder (= n., Admonition; refreshing’ remembrance. See 006:069. A/t/a, ‘it should be a reminder,’ ‘Reminder,’ ‘an exhortation,’ ‘(that it may be) a source of eminence and honour,’ ‘as a ‘reminder.’ But the verb as in ‘teach’  and ‘admonish’ is no translation of the noun that the Holy Qor-aan has used)
• لِ — Lay … (il) — For (= For the object, person, purpose or reason of; intended for; meant for; on account of; concerning; regarding; relative to. A/t/a, ‘to’ and ‘unto’)
• لۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ —  Moe-may-nee-n — The believers (= n,. pl., Adherents of Islam; those who enter the Faith, believe and follow the Holy Qor-aan, the Iss-laam and become Moslems. Men of faith. The faithful)
