The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                             007:042

 

لَهُمۡ مِّنۡ جَهَـنَّمَ مِهَادٌ وَّمِنۡ فَوۡقِهِمۡ غَوَاشٍ‌ ؕ وَكَذٰلِكَ نَجۡزِى الظّٰلِمِيۡنَ‏

 

La  hoom  min  ja-haun-na-ma  may-haa-doon                                                                              Wa  min  fao-qay  him  gha-waa-shin                                                                                                 Wa  ka-zaa-lay-ka  nauj-zi  z-zaa-lay-mee-n

 

For them out of hell is a house of beds                                                                            And over them is a covering.                                                                                            And that’s how We pay back the wrongdoers.

 

  • لَ — La — For  (= For the object, person, purpose or reason of; intended for; meant for; concerning; regarding; relative to. A/t/a, ‘For … there is,’ ‘shall have,’ ‘will be,’ ‘There will be’ and ‘shall be’)
  • هُمۡ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they. A/t/a, ‘their’ and          ‘Theirs’)
  • مِّنۡ  Min — Out of (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon. A/t/a, ‘of’ and ‘is’)
  • جَهَنَّمَ — Ja-haun-na-ma — Hell (= n., Blazing Fire. Purgatory; Gehenna; hell-fire. Also,the hellish life in this world. A/t/a, ‘Gehenna’)
  • مِهَادٌ — May-haa-doon — House of beds (= n., pl., A place of an assembly or collection of many beds for a long, period like an abode, home, house or residence or brief and fixed duration as in a hotel, inn or resting place. See Note 078:007. A/t/a, ‘a couch (Below),’ ‘bed’ and ‘couch’)
  • وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., It links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class. See مِّنۡ  above)
  •  فَوۡقِ — Fao-qay — Over  (= On next degree above, over, greater, higher, larger,  more or superior. Also, one degree below or lower. A/t/a, ‘above’)
  • هِمۡ — Him — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • غَوَاشٍ — Gha-waa-shin — Cover (= n., Blankets used to cover oneself; layer upon layer; multiple layers. A/t/a, ‘coverings of the same,’  ‘coverings (of Hell),’ ‘coverings (of Hell-fire),’ coverings (of it),’ ‘their covering, ‘awning (of fire for cover),’ ‘folds and folds of covering’ and ‘sheets of fire’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ   above)
  • كَذٰلِكِ — Ka-zaa-lay-ka — Like this (= Combines two words.  كَ  means example, like, identical resembling, similar.  ذٰلِكَ  means ‘this right in here’ and refers to an aforesaid event, fact, person or statement.  The combination means ‘like this,’ ‘so it will be,’ ‘such  is the way,’ ‘the same way,’ ‘that is how’ or ‘this way.’  A/t/a, ‘such is’ and  ‘Thus’)
  • نَجۡزِى — Nauj-zay … (iz) — We pay back  (= v., pres., pl., 1st person. For bad or evil consequences  of condemnation. Count, impose, inflict, pay back; punish; recompense; requit. A/t/a, ‘do We recompense,’ ‘We recompense,’ ‘do We requit’ and ‘We requit.’ But the noun as is ‘Our requittal’ or the passive voice as in ‘shall … be rewarded’ are no translations of the text the Holy Qor-aan)
  • الظّٰلِمِيۡنَ‏ — Zaa-lay-mee-n — The wrongdoers (= n., pl., Bad people; criminals; culprits. Doers of harm hurt or injury. Evil doers. Polytheists. Transgressors. Those who commit, do, practice, repeat or habitually pursue evil or cause grievous wrongs to others. Unfair. Unjust. Violators. Wicked. Those continually, habitually, perpetually and persistently doing wrongs.  A/t/a, ‘unjust’)
