The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                    026:093

وَقِيۡلَ لَهُمۡ اَيۡنَمَا كُنۡتُمۡ تَعۡبُدُوۡنَۙ 

Wa-qee-la-la-hoom-aina-maa-koon-toom-tau-bo-doo-n 

And said to them was, “Where is all that you used to worship?” 

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • قِيۡلَ — Qee-la — Said (= v., past, pass., 3rd person. Announced; broadcast; called    conveyed; declared; informed; elaborated; explained; specified; told. A/t/a, ‘will be said,’ ‘it is said,’ ‘They will be asked,’ ‘who shall be asked,’ ‘it shall be said’ and ‘A voice will say’)
  • لَ — La — To (= For the person, purpose or reason of; intended for; meant for; concerning; regarding; relative to. A/t/a,  ‘unto’)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • اَيۡنَ — Aina — Where (= Which direction or destination; wither. A/t/a, ‘Where is’ and ‘Where are’)
  • مَاۤ — Maa– All that (= What; whatever; whatsoever; at such time; when. A/t/a, ‘(all) that,’ ‘The (gods),’ ‘those,’ ‘those whom,’ ‘(your deities) that’ and ‘that’ )
  • كُنۡـتُمۡ — Koon-toom — You used to (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. It is a combination of two words. The first word is  كُنۡ  which means used to, have or had been since the past. The second word is  تُمۡ  that means you all men and that is how the Holy Qor-aan has addressed men and women jointly. A/t/a, ‘ye’  and ‘you’)
  • تَعۡبُدُونَ — Tau-bo-doo-n — You worship (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Who, what and how you worship. The person, the manner, the method or the way you appreciate, praise, serve and think what you worship. A/t/a, ‘worshipped,’ ‘used to worship,’ ‘were worshipping’ and ‘your idols’)

مِنۡ دُوۡنِ اللّٰهِؕ هَلۡ يَنۡصُرُوۡنَكُمۡ اَوۡ يَنۡتَصِرُوۡنَؕ‏

Min-do-nil-laa-hay-hul-yun-so-roo-na-koom-auo-yun-ta-say-roo-n

Other than Allah? Do they help you or help themselves?

  • مِنۡ دُوۡنِ — Min-do-n … (il) — Other than (= Combination of two words. The first word  مِنۡ (min) means among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kinds, things or person. The second word  دُوۡنِ  (do-nay) means besides, beyond, except, excluding or save. Jointly the two words mean apart from, exclusive of, other than, instead of, in place of, in preference to, rather than, ‘to the exclusion of.               A/t/a, other than,’ ‘Besides,’ ‘beside,’ ‘instead of’ and ‘Apart from’)
  • اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • هَلۡ — Hull — Do (= Word asking a question like are, can, could, do; did; have, had, shell, should, will, would, what, etc.)
  • يَنۡصُرُوۡنَ — Yun-so-roo-na — Help (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Aid; assist. A/t/a, ‘help’ and ‘they come to your help’)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all men. The Holy Qor-aan addresses men and women jointly this way generally)
  • اَوۡ —  Auo — Or (= Alternatively; in substitution)
  • يَنۡتَصِرُوۡنَ — Yun-ta-say-roo-n– Help (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Aided, assisted or availed. A/t/a, ‘procure help for themselves,’ ‘help themselves’ and ‘inflict punishment’)

The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                    026:095

فَكُبۡكِبُوۡا فِيۡهَا هُمۡ وَالۡغَاوٗنَۙ‏

Fa-koob-kay-boo-fee-haa-hoom-wul-ghaa-voo-n

So thrown headlong into it (fire) will be they and the Errant.

  • فَ  — Fa — Then (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence;  in conclusion; so; thereafter; therefore; thus. A/t/a, ‘Then’)
  • كُبۡكِبُوۡا — Koob-kay-boo — Thrown headlong (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Cast down on headfirst. A/t/a, ‘thrown Headlong,’ ‘hurled,’ ‘they shall be hurled,’ they (- the false deities) shall be hurled headlong’ and ‘they shall be cast’)
  • فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Amidst. Among. Contained or inside a duration, event, place, period, person, phenomenon, situation, thing or  time. See Note 002:028. A/t/a, ‘into’)
  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to the Fire. A/t/a, ‘it,’ ‘The Fire,’ ‘therein,’ ‘the depths of it (- the Hell) again and again’)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — They (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs. A/t/a, ‘and along with them all’)
  • وَ — Wa … (ul) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above). A/t/a, ‘together with’)
  • الۡغَاوٗنَۙ‏ — Ghaa-voo-n — The errant (= n., pl. Defaulters; Those who have committed wrongs. A/t/a, ‘those straying In Evil,’ ‘those who have gone astray,’ ‘deviators,’ ‘the worshippers and the worshipped,’ ‘those (wretched fellows) who had deviated from the right path,’ ‘the seducers,’ ‘the ones who erred’ and ‘who misled them’)

وَجُنُوۡدُ اِبۡلِيۡسَ اَجۡمَعُوۡنَؕ

Wa-jo-noo-do-ib-lee-sa-uj-ma-oon 

And the supporters of the Iblees, altogether. 

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • جُنُوۡدُ — Jo-noo-do — Supporters (= n., pl. Armies; comrades; groups; hosts; soldiers. A/t/a, ‘supporters’ and ‘legions all’)
  • اِبۡلِيۡسَ — Ib-leese — Iblees (= Some translators have called Iblees an angel, but most  others have translated it as the Satan saying it was not in angels’ nature to disobey God. A/t/a, ‘Iblis,’ ‘Iblis (Satan),’ ‘the devil’ and ‘Satan’s’)
  • اَجۡمَعُوۡنَؕ — Uj-ma-oon — Altogether (= n., pl. People who have been assembled; bunched,  bundled, collected, gathered, herded. A/t/a, ‘together’ and ‘all together’)
