The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                    026:097

قَالُوۡا وَهُمۡ فِيۡهَا يَخۡتَصِمُوۡنَۙ

Qaa-loo-wa-hoom-fee-ha-yukh-ta-say-moo-n

They said and they were still arguing about it.

  • قَالُوۡا — Qaa-loo  — They said (= v., past, pl., m., 3rdperson: All those men announced;       called; declared; told. See Notes 112:002 and our Commentary ‘You say’ means …’ A/t/a, ‘They will say,’ ‘They shall say,’ ‘the worshippers will say’ and ‘they will say to their idols’ but such statements in the future tense have not translated the past tense used in the Holy Qor-aan)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet. A/t/a, ‘whilst’ and ‘when’)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • فِىۡ — Fee — About (= Amidst. Among. Contained or inside a duration, event, place, period, person, phenomenon, situation, thing or time. Also, about; concerning; in reference, regarding, relative to. See Note 002:028. A/t/a, ‘therein’ and ‘therein (- in the Hell’)
  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to aforesaid group)
  • يَخۡتَصِمُوۡنَ — Yukh-ta-say-moo-n — Arguing (= v., pres., Contending; disputing; fighting for; quarreling; wrangling with each other about that. A/t/a, ‘They will dispute between themselves,’ ‘they dispute between themselves,’ ‘they dispute,’ ‘disputing … among themselves,’ ‘they quarrel,’ ‘quarrelling,’ ‘as they contend with them’ and ‘mutual bickering’)

The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                   026:098

تَاللّٰهِ اِنۡ كُنَّا لَفِىۡ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِيۡنٍۙ‏ 

Tul-laa-hay-in-koon-naa-la-fee-za-laa-lin-mo-bee-n

By God we surely would have been in an error, very clear.

  • تَاللّٰهِ  Tul-laa — By Allah (= Swearing by invoking the name of Allah. An oath and expression about that the statement that follows is Truth, and nothing but the Truth. A/t/a, ‘By Allah’ and ‘By God’)
  • اِنۡ — In — Certainly (= Absolutely; clearly, decidedly; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really; surely; truly; verily. A/t/a, ‘of a truth’)
  • كُنَّا — Koon-na — We would have been (= v., past., pl., 1st person. Combination of two words. The  1st word is  كُنۡ  (koon) that is a verb in the past tense and means used to, have or had been since the past, and is  continuing from the past to the present and leads into the future, like ‘continued doing’ or ‘went on doing’. The 2nd word is  نَآ  (naa) meaning we, us or ours. The  combination means We would have become, been, shaped, shown, taken or turned into A/t/a, ‘We were’ and ‘we’)
  • لَ — La — Surely (= Absolutely; assuredly; categorically; certainly; clearly, definitely doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; positively; really; truly; seriously; sincerely;  specifically; surely; verily)
  • فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Concerning; regarding.  See فِىۡ  above)
  • ضَلٰلٍ — Dza-laa-lin — Error (= n., Astray; error; fallen to error; loss; mistake; stray. A/t/a, ‘erred’ but this verb in the past tense is no translation of the noun used in the Holy Qor-aan)
  • مُّبِيۡنٍ — Mo-bee-n — The very plain (= adj., Clear, manifest; obvious; without any blemish; hindrance or obstruction. A/t/a, ‘manifest’ and ‘manifest (and deep)’

اِذۡ نُسَوِّيۡكُمۡ بِرَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَ 

Iz-no-suw-we-kom-bay-rub-bil-aa-la-mee-n 

When we equate you to GOD of the Worlds.

  • اِذۡ — Iz — When (= At the time or event; call to mind; recall; remember; think of the time, event, occasion or opportunity. Also, behold; consider; ponder over; reflect)
  • نُسَوِّيۡ — No-suw-we — We equate (= v., pres., pl., 1st person. Hold equal. A/t/a, ‘in holding … as equals with.’ However, ‘held as equal,’ ‘held … as equal’ and ‘made … equal’ in a verb in the past tense is no translation of the verb in the present tense used in the holy Qor-aan)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You  (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You. A/t/a, ‘you (-deities)’ 
  • بِ  — Bay — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with. A/t/a, ‘with’)
  • رَبِّ — Rub-bay — GOD / LORD (= The Almighty Allah who fills all needs of all creatures. Cherisher. Creator. Guardian. Lord Provident. Master. The Only One Who provides all that sustains life. Ultimate Provider of air, water, food and whatever we and all other creatures need to live and subsist)
  • الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَۙ‏ — Aa-la-meen — The universe (= n., pl., As an attribute of God Almighty the word implies no limits. It means the Universe, all His creations, all that exists in whole Universe, all that has life, and Mankind. See Note 001:002. A/t/a, ‘Creation’)
