The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                            026:140

 

فَكَذَّبُوۡهُ فَاَهۡلَـكۡنٰهُمۡ ‌ؕ اِنَّ فِىۡ ذٰلِكَ لَاَيَةً‌ ‌ؕ وَ مَا كَانَ اَكۡثَرُهُمۡ مُّؤۡمِنِيۡنَ‏

 

Fa-kuz-za-boo-ho-fa-ah-luk-naa-hoom                                                                                            In-na-fee-zaa-lay-ka-la-aa-ya-ton                                                                                                    Wa-maa-kaa-na-uk-tha-ro-hoom-moe-may-nee-n

 

So they belied him. Thus We destroyed them.                                                                  In this is most certainly a Sign.                                                                                              And most of them have not been believers.

 

This verse is the same as 026:009026:068026:104026:122026:175 and 026:191,     and part of 026:140 and 026:159. Its word-by-word meanings are in 026:104.

  • فَ — Fa — Then (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; in conclusion; so; thereafter; therefore; thus)
  • كَذَّ بُوۡ — Kuz-za-boo — They belied     (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Denied; derided, denounced, disowned, opposed, misrepresented, negated; rejected. Any translation in the present tense is not of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • هُ — Ho — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid shown, specified or stated article, thing or person)
  • فَ  — Fa — Thus (= After all this; therefore; thus. See  فَ  above)
  • اَهۡلَـكۡ — Ah-luk — Destroyed (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Annihilated. Brought them death. Caused death. Killed. Made them pass away).
  • نَآ  — Naa — We (= pro., pl., 1st person. Us. Used with God’s name this plural is the authoritative way a higher-up talks)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • اِنَّ — In-na — Certainly (= Absolutely; assuredly; categorically; clearly, decidedly; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; for sure; indeed; positively; really; seriously; sincerely; specifically; surely; truly; verily. A/t/a, ‘Lo!’)
  • فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Amidst. Among. Contained or inside a duration, event,  place, period, person, phenomenon, situation, thing or time. See Note 002:028. A/t/a, ‘herein’)
  • ذٰلِكَ — Zaa-lay-ka — This (= Here; refers to an aforesaid fact, person or statement; it’s because; right here; such is this; that is how it is. A/t/a, ‘there is … in this (episode of Abraham’s life),’ ‘there is … this’ and ‘that there was’)
  • لَ — La — Definitely (= Absolutely; certainly; clearly, decidedly; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really; truly; verily. See Commentary “2 Words of Emphasis used together Multiply Effect”)
  • اٰيَةً‌ — Aa-ya-ton — Sign (= n., pl of … An argument, corroboration, indication, pointer, portent, prof, sign, suggestion, symbol or token. See Note 002:074. A/t/a, ‘Sign’ and ‘a remarkable sign’)
  • وَّ  — Wa  — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — Not (= Never; no; none; not; not at all. A/t/a, ‘would not be,’ ‘are not’ and ‘do not’)
  • كَانَ — Kaa-na — Has been (= v., past., s., m., 3rd person., Continued doing; used to;  went on; were doing. Words has or had always been indicate endless continuity from the past to the present and leading into the future)
  • اَكۡثَر — Uk-tha-ro — Most of (= Greater or large number; majority; mostly)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • مُّؤۡمِنِيۡنَ  — Moe-may-noon — Believers (= n., pl., Adherents of Islam; those who enter the Faith, believe and follow the Holy Qor-aan, the Iss-laam and become Moslems. Men of faith. The faithful. A/t/a, ‘believers,’ ‘believe’ and ‘would … believe’)

وَاِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الۡعَزِيۡزُ الرَّحِيۡمُ

Wa-in-na-rub-bo-ka-la-ho-wul-azee-zoor-ra-hee-m  

And most certainly the Lord God is the Mightiest, Most Merciful.

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See  وَّ   above)
  • اِنَّ — In-na  — Certainly (= Absolutely; certainly; clearly. See  اِنَّ  above. A/t/a, ‘indeed,’ surely,’ verily,’ ‘of course’ and ‘Lo!’)
  • رَبَّ  — Rub-ba — Lord God (= The Almighty Allah who fills all needs of all His creatures; Creator; Master; One Who Sustain; The Lord provident; The Ultimate Provider of Air, water, food and whatever we need to live and subsist. A/t/a, ‘Lord’)
  • كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. The addressee of this divine message is initially the Holy Prophet s.a.w and secondarily every Moslem, in fact any human who practices, professes and presents the teachings of Islam as revealed in the Holy Qor-aan. See Note 002:005)
  • لَ — La — Definitely (= Absolutely; certainly; clearly, decidedly. See لَ  above)
  • هُوَ — Ho-wa … (ul) — He (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. He; him; it. Refers to aforesaid  shown, specified or stated article, thing or person. A/t/a, ‘It is … Who’)
  • ٱلۡعَزِيزُ — Azee-zoo … (r) — Mightiest (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most, and highlights that none more than Him is The Revered, The Highest, The Most Exalted, Honored and Respected. All-Mighty. Exalted in might and power. Mightiest. This one word includes the meanings of might with respect. See Note 001:001. A/t/a, ‘the Almighty (to crush and obliterate His enemies)’
  • الرَّحِيۡمُ — Ra-hee-m — Most Merciful (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most, and highlights that none more than Him shows mercy again and again, continually, incessantly and indefinitely like endlessly and perpetually incoming  =waves of the oceans. Merciful Forever. See Note 001:001. A/t/a, ‘Ever Merciful (to the supporters of true faith)’
