The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                   055:001 to 006

Verses of the Holy Qor-aan are quoted on this site with the numbers, the first set of three being the number of Soorah (Chapter) followed by the last set of three being the number of the verse. The numbers include بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ‏‏ as the verse #1 in every Soorah except the Soorah #9. The original Arabic word is shown first, or in Col #1. The phonetic transliteration in English is shown next, or in Col #2, and is based upon words commonly pronounced like bat, cat, sat → fate, gate, hate → bait, trait → bay, nay, say → be, he, she → bet, pet, wet → bit, fit, sit → cot, dot, rot → boot, hoot, root → bout, rout → but, cut, hut, ultimatum. ○ بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ‏‏     

اَلرَّحۡمٰنُۙ‏ ○    عَلَّمَ الۡقُرۡاٰنَؕ‏ ○     خَلَقَ الۡاِنۡسَانَۙ‏ ○   عَلَّمَهُ الۡبَيَانَ ○   اَلشَّمۡسُ وَالۡقَمَرُ بِحُسۡبَانٍ

 

  1. Bis-mil-laa-hir-rah-maa-nir-ra-heem
  2. Ur-rah-maa-n
  3. Ul-la-mul-qor-aan
  4. Kha-la-qul-in-saa-n
  5. Ul-la-ma-hool-ba-yaa-n

 ○بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ‏‏

Bis-mil-laa-hir-rah-maa-nir-ra-heem

With the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful I begin

(Beginning, commencing, starting)

  • بِ — B…(is) — With (= This Arabic word literally means ‘with’. Its translation in English is more accurate with ‘with’ than with ‘in’)
  • سۡمِ — Ism…(il) — The name of (= The way to be addressed or called)
  • اللهِ — Laa-h…(ir) — Allah (= The Almighty God; the One Only worthy of worship)
  • الرَّحۡمٰنِ — Rah-maa-n(ir) — The Most Beneficent (= The One who fully, totally and wholly benefits all, to the maximum, with no condition, limitation or restriction. Compassionate. Gracious)
  • الرَّحِيۡمِ — Ra-heem — The Most Merciful (= The One who fully, totally and wholly showers mercy, to the maximum, again and again, continually, indefinitely and perpetually like the endlessly incoming waves from the oceans)

Ur-rah-maa-n

The Most Beneficent

  • الرَّحۡمٰنِ — Rah-maa-n — The Most Beneficent (= The One who fully, totally and wholly benefits all, to the maximum, with no condition, limitation or restriction.  Compassionate.  Gracious. A/t/a, ‘The Gracious One’ and ‘The Most Gracious (God)’

عَلَّمَ الۡقُرۡاٰنَؕ‏

Ul-la-mul-qor-aan 

He taught the Qor-aan

  • عَلَّمَ — Ulla-ma…(ul) — He taught (= v., past., s., m., 3rd person. Added knowledge, coached, directed, educated, guided, instructed, mandated, ordained, prescribed, trained or tutored the learning of how to read and write. A/t/a, ‘has taught (you mankind),’ ‘has taught’ and ‘Hath made known’)

خَلَقَ الۡاِنۡسَانَۙ 

Kha-la-qul-in-saa-n 

He created man

  • خَلَقَ — Kha-la-qa..(ul) — He created (= v., past., s., m., 3rd person., Brought into being; created in proportion; designed from a scratch out of nothing; every created thing; fashioned or initiated with the mystery of the creation; formed; gave forms and faces; produced; shaped.   • الۡاِنۡسَانَ   In-saa-na — The  man (= n., Mankind; the species known as man including his feminine gender woman. As a derivative from the root   ا  ن   س  that means love, the word  الۡاِنۡسَانَ   means one who has two loves, i.e., for his Creator and his fellow creatures. A/t/a, ‘human being’ and mankind)

اَلشَّمۡسُ وَالۡقَمَرُ بِحُسۡبَانٍ

 Ush-shum-so-wul-qa-ma-ro-bay-hoos-baa-n

The sun and the Moon with the duty to guard

  • اَلشَّمۡسُ — Ush-shum-so — The sun (= n., The bright astronomical object or star located at the center of our solar system around which the Earth and other planets orbit and from which they receive their light and heat. The unending source of light, heat and energy necessary for life and vegetation on earth.  Spiritually, the individuals entrusted with an inner light to illuminate the lives of other humans not so gifted)
  • وَ — Wa…(ul) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • الۡقَمَرُ — Ul-Qa-ma-ro — The moon (= n., Physically an astronomical body that orbits the Earth. Spiritually, a person entrusted with accurately reflecting the brightness of another who has gone and is like the moon that reflects the sun after sunset to reduce total darkness of night)
  • بِ — Bay — With (= Literally the word  بِ  means with)
  • حُسۡبَا نٍ — Hoos-baa-nin — Duty to guard (= n., Lookout; picket; protector; sentinel; sentry; watch. Also, defense, fortification, safeguard or shield. A/t/a, ‘Follow the courses (exactly) computed,’ ‘run on their fixed course (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning),’ ‘run their courses according to a fixed reckoning,’ ‘move according to a fixed reckoning,’ ‘follow a reckoning,’ ‘pursue their scheduled courses on their axis according to a fixed reckoning,’ ‘made punctual,’ ‘follow precise courses’ and ‘pursue their ordered course’ [njd])
