The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                      055:057 to 062

 

فِيۡهِنَّ قٰصِرٰتُ الطَّرۡفِۙ لَمۡ يَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ اِنۡسٌ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَآنٌّ‌ ۚ‏ ○   فَبِاَىِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ  ۚ  ‏ ○  كَاَنَّهُنَّ الۡيَاقُوۡتُ وَالۡمَرۡجَانُ ۚ‏ ○  فَبِاَىِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ‏○  هَلۡ جَزَآءُ الْاِحۡسَانِ اِلَّا الۡاِحۡسَانُ ۚ ○   فَبِاَىِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ‏ 

 

  1. Fe-hin-na-qaa-say-raa-toot-tur-fay                                                                                            Lum-yut-mith-hoon-na-in-soon-qub-la-hoom-wa-laa-jaa-n                                                
  1. Fa-bay-auy-yay-aa-laa-aiy-rub-bay-ko-maa-to-kuz-zay-baa-n
  2. Ka-un-na-hoon-nul-yaa-qoo-to-wul-mur-jaa-n
  3. Fa-bay-auy-yay-aa-laa-aiy-rub-bay-ko-maa-to-kuz-zay-baa-n 
  4. Hul-ja-zaa-ol-aih-saa-nay-il-lul-aih-saa-n
  5. Fa-bay-auy-yay-aa-laa-aiy-rub-bay-ko-maa-to-kuz-zay-baa-n

 

  1. In them modest maidens, never before any Man or Jinn touching them
  2. So with which blessings of God of you two can you both deny
  3. Surely like red as rubies and white as pearls
  4. So with which blessings of God of you two can you both deny
  5. Is the reward of decency anything except decency
  6. So with which blessings of God of you two can you both deny

The Holy Qor-aan       055:057

فِيۡهِنَّ قٰصِرٰتُ الطَّرۡفِۙ لَمۡ يَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ اِنۡسٌ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَآنٌّ ‌ ۚ○‏

Fe-hin-na-qaa-say-raa-toot-tur-fay

 Lum-yut-mith-hoon-na-in-soon-qub-la-hoom-wa-laa-jaa-n

In them modest maidens, never before any Man or Jinn touching them

  • فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Amidst, among, contained or inside. A/t/a, ‘They shall dwell with’)
  • هِنَّ — Hin-na — Them (= pl, f, in 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid two paradises)
  • قٰصِرٰتُ — Qaa-say-raa-to  Restricted      (= n., pl., The phrase قٰصِرٰتُ الطَّرۡفِ consists of two words which jointly are best translated as modest maidens or females who limit, restrain and restrict their eyes from roving all around with the lusty looks of perverts. Singly the word means anything of feminine gender that checks, controls or confines itself from wandering all around. A/t/a, ‘those restraining,’ ‘those of modest gaze,’ ‘(Maidens) chaste, restraining their glances,’ ‘chaste maidens restraining their,’ ‘chaste  maidens’ [mzk], ‘chaste maidens of modest gaze,’ ‘(chaste and modest) maidens restraining their glances (to look at them only) whom (in this state),’ ‘chaste females (wives) restraining their glances, desiring none  except their husbands’ and ‘bashful virgins’)
  • الطَّرۡفِۙ — Tur-fay — Eye-sight (= n., Eyes; gazes; looks. A/t/a, ‘modest gaze’ and ‘glances’

    The following words are also in verse 055:075

  • لَمۡ — Lum — Not (= Absolutely never; no, not at all)
  • يَطۡمِثۡ — Yut-mith — Touching (= v., pres., m., 3rd person. Affecting; embracing; hugging impacting; influencing; involving; shaping; A/t/a, ‘will have touched,’ ‘touched’ and ‘untouched’ are translations as verbs in the past tense of what the Holy Qor-aan has described as a verb in the present tense)
  • هُنَّ — Hoon-na — Them (= pl, f, in 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid women)
  • اِنۡسٌ — In-soon — Man (= n., Mankind; the species known as man including his feminine gender woman. As a derivative from the root  ا  ن   س  that means love, the words اِنۡسٌ  and  الۡاِنۡسَانَ  mean one who has two loves, i.e., for his Creator and his fellow creatures. A human being)
  • قَبۡلَ — Qub-la — Before (= Antecedently; earlier; previous stage; prior)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Refers to the Men and Jinn)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • لَا — Laa — No (= Naught; neither; never; none; nor; not at all; absolute denial and total negation without exception)
  • جَآنٌّ‌ — Jaan-n — Jinn (= n., Djin; Jin. Secret beings; hidden from being seen by naked eye; fiery-natured haughty individuals. A/t/a, ‘jinni’ and ‘jinnee’)

○ فَبِاَىِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ‏

Fa-bay-auy-yay-aa-laa-aiy-rub-bay-ko-maa-to-kuz-zay-baa-n

So with which blessings of God of you two can you both deny

  • فَ — Fa — So (= Hence; then; thus; at the end; in conclusion; in the final analysis; consequently; finally; resultantly; therefore)
  • بِ — Bay — With (= Literally the word  بِ  means ‘with’)
  • اَىِّ — Auy-yay — Which (= What. A/t/a, ‘Which is it’)
  • اٰلَاۤءِ — Aa-laa-aiy — Blessings (= n., pl., Donations; gifts; grants; favors; freebees; handouts. A/t/a, ‘bounties,’ ‘benefactions’ and ‘favours’)
  • رَبِّ — Rub-bay — God (= The Almighty Allah who fills needs of all creatures; Cherisher; Creator; Guardian; Master; Lord Provident. The Only One Who provides all that sustains life. The Ultimate Provider of air, water, food and whatever we  and all other creatures need to live and subsist)
  • كُمَا — Ko-maa — You two ** (= pro., 2pl., m., 2nd person. You both or twain. You two  bands, bunches, cliques, cults or groups.. Reference is to the bodies of men and jinn. A/t/a, ‘your’ [several authors], ‘you twain (jinn and men)’ and ‘you twain (believers and disbelievers).’ See Note 055:014)
  • تُكَذِّبٰنِ — To-kuz-zay-baa-n — You both can deny (= v., 2pl., 2nd person. Belie; contradict; decline; disagree; disapprove; discredit; disprove; rebuff; refuse; turn down. A/t/a, ‘will ye deny,’ ‘will you deny,’ ‘ye twain, O men and jinn, deny,’ ‘will you twain deny, O men and Jinn,’ ‘will you both (jinn and men) deny,’ ‘would you deny’ and ‘that ye deny’)

○ كَاَنَّهُنَّ الۡيَاقُوۡتُ وَالۡمَرۡجَانُ  

Ka-un-na-hoon-nul-yaa-qoo-to-wul-mur-jaa-n

Surely like red as rubies and white as pearls

  • كَ — Ka — Like (= Identical; resembling; similar to the one stated in prior verse to. Take the example or similitude of. A/t/a, ‘(In beauty)’ they are like,’ ‘(In beauty) like,’ ‘as though they were,’ ‘as if they were,’ ‘(these maidens will look) as if they were (made of)’ and ‘Virgins as fair as’)
  • اَ نَّ –Un-na — Surely (= Absolutely; certainly; definitely; positively; verily)
  • هُنَّ — Hoon-na…(ul) — They (= pl, f, in 3rd person. Refers to an aforesaid women)
  • الۡيَاقُوۡتُ  — Ul-ya-qoo-to — The rubies (= n., Precious diamonds in red color. A/t/a, ‘jacynth’)
  • وَ — Wa…(ul) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • الۡمَرۡجَانُ — Mur-jaa-n — The pearl (= n., A product that grows in the sea and brought out like the valuable pearls; coral A/t/a, ‘small pearls,’ ‘corals’ and ‘coral-stone’)

هَلۡ جَزَآءُ الْاِحۡسَانِ اِلَّا الۡاِحۡسَانُ‌ ۚ○‏   

Hul-ja-zaa-ol-aih-saa-nay-il-lul-aih-saa-n 

Is the reward of decency anything except decency

  • هَلۡ  Hul — Is (= Question mark like Are, can, do, have, shell, will or should)
  • جَزَآءُ — Ja-zaa-o — Reward (= n., Award, reward or trophy. Also consequence, result or follow up since the word celebrates the appreciation, honor, joy or jubilation for good deeds like those referred to in the verses 003:137055:061 and 078:037. For other meanings see the Note 004:094)
  • الْاِحۡسَانِ — Ol-aih-saa-n — The decency (= n and adj., Honesty; integrity; kindness; righteousness; virtue; with generosity, goodness and gratitude. A/t/a, ‘goodness’ and ‘good’)
  • اِلَّا — Il-la…(ul) — Except (= Apart from; besides; butt; excluding; save; unless. A/t/a, ‘aught but’ and ‘anything but’)
  • الْاِحۡسَانِ — Ul-aih-saa-n — The decency (= n and adj., Honesty; integrity. See الْاِحۡسَانِ above)
