‌يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡۤا اِنَّ مِنۡ اَزۡوَاجِكُمۡ وَاَوۡلَادِكُمۡ عَدُوًّا لَّكُمۡ فَاحۡذَرُوۡهُمۡ‌ ۚ  وَاِنۡ تَعۡفُوۡا وَتَصۡفَحُوۡا وَتَغۡفِرُوۡا فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ غَفُوۡرٌ رَّحِيۡمٌ‏

 

Yaa-auy-yo-hul-la-zee-na-aa-ma-noo                                                                                                In-na-min-uz-waa-jay-koom-wa-auo-laa-day-koom                                                                  Aa-doo-wun-la-koom-fah-za-roo-hoom                                                                                            Wa-in-tau-foo-wa-tus-fa-hoo-wa-tugh-fay-roo                                                                              Fa-in-nul-laa-ha-gha-foo-roor-ra-hee-m

 

Listen you all who have believed!                                                                                          Surely from among your spouses and children                                                                You have enemies. So be aware of them.                                                                            And if you excuse and overlook and forgive                                                                Then surely Allah too is the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

 

The Holy Qor-aan has used the Phrase Yaa-auy-yo-hul-la-zee-na-aa-ma-noo many times

  • يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; hearken; pay attention; O!)
  • اَيُّهَا — Auy-yo-ha(ul) — You all (= All addressees; entire audience; whole lot of listeners)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Those articles, things or persons
  • اٰمَنُوۡۤ — Aa-ma-noo — They Believed (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Believed in the Holy Qor-aan; became Moslems. Accepted, acknowledged, admitted or witnessed their entry in Iss-laam.   • اِنَّ — In-na — Surely (= Absolutely; certainly; clearly, decidedly; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really; surely; truly; verily. A/t/a, ‘Lo!’)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From among (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several
  • اَزۡوَاجِ — Uz-waa-jay — Spouses (= n., pl., Associates; companions; husbands; mates; life companions; wives’)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — Your (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all men and women)
  • وَ  — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • اَوۡلَادِ — Auo-laa-day — Children (= n., pl., Issues; offspring; sons and daughters)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — Your (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all men and women)
  • عَدُوًّا — Aa-doo-wun — An enemy (= n., s., One with animosity, enmity, grudge or hostility; one who severs a connection between Creator Allah and His creation Mankind; one people at war. A/t/a, ‘(some that are) enemies,’ ‘are enemies,’ ‘some who are … enemies,’ ‘some are … enemies,’ ‘there is an enemy,’ ‘you have an enemy’ and ‘there are enemies (who may stop you from the obedience of Allah’)
  • لَ — La — For (= For the object, person, purpose or reason of; intended for; meant for; concerning; regarding; relative to. A/t/a, ‘to’)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — Your (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all. A/t/a, ‘yourselves’)
  • فَ — Fa … (ah) — Then (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; in conclusion; so; thereafter; therefore; thus)
  • احۡذَرُو — Ah-zo-roo — Be aware (= v., pres., s., 2nd person. Be aware; be careful; feat; pay heed; take precaution. a/t/a, ‘beware of’)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Those men; they; their)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • اِنۡ — In — If (= In case; under the circumstances; when; whenever)
  • تَعۡفُوۡا — Ta-uf-foo — You excuse (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Abstain; avoid; restrain; stay away; withhold from asking. A/t/a, ‘forgive,’ ‘pardon,’ ‘pardon (them),’ ‘efface,’ ‘overlook,’ ‘forbear,’ ‘overlook their shortcomings’ and ‘overlook their offences’)

  • تَصۡفَحُوۡا — Tus-fa-hoo — You overlook (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Give a pass; ignore; look in other direction. A/t/a, ‘forbear,’ ‘forgive’ and ‘overlook’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See  وَ  above)
  • تَغۡفِرُوۡا — Tugh-fay-roo — You forgive (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Pardon. A/t/a, ‘cover up (their fault),’ ‘forgive’ and ‘forgive (their faults)’
  • فَ –Fa … (ah) — Then (= After all this; at the end; consequently. See  فَ  above)
  • اِنَّ — In-na…(ul) — Surely (= Absolutely; definitely; certainly; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really; seriously; surely; truly; verily. See Note 002:174c)
  • ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
  • غَفُوۡرٌ — Gha-foo-ro(or) — Most Forgiving (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most and highlights that none more than Him is Who excuses, overlooks and pardons. A/t/a, ‘All-Forgiving,’  ‘Oft-Forgiving,’ ‘Forgiving,’ ‘Most Forgiving’ and ‘Great Protector.’ See 001:001)
  • الرَّحِيۡمُ — Ra-heem — Most Merciful (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most. and highlights that none more than Him shows mercy again and again, continually, incessantly and indefinitely like endlessly and perpetually incoming waves from the oceans; Merciful Forever. A/t/a, ‘Most Merciful,’ ‘Merciful’ and ‘Ever Merciful.’ See 001:001)
