The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                           064:018

 

اِنۡ تُقۡرِضُوا اللّٰهَ قَرۡضًا حَسَنًا يُّضٰعِفۡهُ لَـكُمۡ وَيَغۡفِرۡ لَـكُم ۡ‌ؕ وَاللّٰهُ شَكُوۡرٌ حَلِيۡمٌۙ‏

 

In-tooq-ray-dzool-laa-ha-qur-dzun-ha-sa-nun                                                                                Yo-dzaa-if-ho-la-koom-wa-yugh-fer-la-koom                                                                                 Wul-laa-ho-sha-koo-roon-ha-leem

 

If you lend to Allah for good purposes                                                                                  He multiplies it for you and forgives you.                                                                          And by God Allah is highly Appreciative and very Forbearing

 

  • اِنۡ — In — If (= In case; under the circumstances; when; when situation arises; whenever)
  • تُقۡرِضُوا — Tooq-ray-dzoo (l) — Loan (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Advance or make loan; lend. A/t/a, ‘set apart’ and ‘gave to’)
  • ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • قَرۡضًا — Qur-dzun  — Loan (= n., Borrowing; debt. Loaning money in exchange for its eventual return with interest)
  • حَسَنًا — Ha-sa-nun — As a good thing (= adj: As a beautiful, beneficial, charitable, constructive, generous; good, noble or productive practice for any useful cause, goal, object or purpose. Generally the word has been translated as goodly. A/t/a, ‘beautiful,’ ‘goodly portion,’ ‘goodly loan,’ ‘goodly loan (i.e. spend in Allah’s cause,’ ‘good loan,’ ‘generous loan’ and ‘a handsome portion of you wealth’)
  • يُّضٰعِفۡ — Yo-dzaa-if — He multiplies (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Adds more increases; increases manifold; grows abundantly; gives in abundance; magnifies; multiplies many times. A/t/a, ‘He will multiply,’ ‘He will double’  and ‘pay you back twofold’)
  • هُ — Ho — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the loan made)
  • لَ  — La — For (= For the object, person, purpose or reason of; intended for; meant for; on account of; concerning; regarding; relative to. A/t/a, ‘to your credit’)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — Your (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all men. Generally this is the way the Holy Qor-aan addresses men and women)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but;  also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • يَغۡفِرۡ — Yugh-fay-ro — He forgives (= v., pres., s., 3rd person., Absolves; cleanses; excuses; gives a pass; gets rid of sins; grants protection; overlooks; pardons; protects from the consequences of past sins; saves from sinning in the future; wipes off clean. Also, Grants begging, beseeching, having good desires, imploring, praying, requesting, seeking and trying to be excused, forgiven and granted reprieve. A/t/a, ‘He will grant … Forgiveness,’ ‘He will forgive’ and ‘protect … (against your lapses)’
  • لَ — La — For (= For the object, person or purpose. See  لَ  above) )
  • كُمۡ — Koom — Your (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all men. See  كُمۡ  above)
  • وَ — Wa…(ul) — And (= The وَ  vaao when used with the Almighty God’s name is tantamount to taking oath with His name; solemn declaration or calling as a witness. A/t/a, ‘For’)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • شَكُوۡرٌ — Sha-ko-roon — Appreciative (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most and highlights that none more than Him is aware, admiring, appreciative, approving or ready to reward. A/t/a, most Ready To appreciate (service),’ ‘Multiplier (of rewards),’ ‘Responsive,’ ‘Responsive to Gratitude,’ ‘Most-Appreciating,’ ‘Most Ready to appreciate and reward’ and ‘rewarding is He.’ See 001:001)
  • حَلِيۡمٌ — Ha-lee-m — Forbearing (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the  most and highlights that none more than Him is Who accommodates, excuses, forbears, overlooks, pardons, puts up with, and tolerates. Extremely Tolerant. Highly Indulgent. A/t/a,Most Forbearing,’ ‘Forbearing,’ ‘All-Forbearing,’ ‘Clement,’  ‘Compassionate’ and ‘benignant.’ See 001:001)
