The Holy Qor-aan                                         083:019                      ○   كَلَّاۤ اِنَّ كِتٰبَ الۡاَبۡرَارِ لَفِىۡ عِلِّيِّيۡنَ

                Kul-laa-in-na-kay-taa-bul-ub-raa-ray-la-fee-il-lee-yee-n

               Most certainly the fact is that the record of the righteous is in Illeeyeen

• كَلَّا — Kul-laa — The fact is (= Absolutely not; fact is; in effect; indeed; instead; like it was never; nay; the reality is. See Note 078:005)
• اِنَّ — In-na — Certainly * (= Absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; positively; really; seriously; surely; truly; verily. See our Commentary “2 Words of Emphasis used together Multiply Effect” why ‘certainly, certainly’ is best translated as ‘most certainly’)
• كِتٰبَ — Kay-taa-ba..(ul) — Book (= Account statement. Authentic written chronicle of what man did in his life. Penned down in black and white the story of his whole life.. The register collecting and recording all his omissions and commissions in his life)
• الۡاَبۡرَارِ — Ub-raa-ray — Righteous (= Pious; virtuous)
• لَ — La — Certainly * (= Absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; positively; really; seriously; surely; truly; verily)
• فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Contained inside a duration, event, time, place or thing — (Saved; preserved; protected; recorded; registered)
• عِلِّيِّيۡنَ — Il-lee-yee-n — Illeeyeen (= The sealed and secured book, register or record of the good life and enjoyments of those with exalted ranks will kept in the safest places with the most, highest or maximum security)

The Holy Qor-aan                                        083:020                                   ○   وَمَاۤ اَدۡرٰٮكَ مَاعِلِّيُّوۡنَ ‏

                Wa-maa-ud-raa-ke-maa-il-lee-yoo-n

                And who will tell you what is Illeeyoon

• وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
• مَاۤ — Maa — Who (= Whatever; whatsoever; whomever; whoso)
• اَدۡرٰى — Ud-raa — Tell (= Add to knowledge; convey; explain; make aware or known; give understanding or comprehension; inform)
• كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. The addressee of this divine message is initially the Holy Prophet s.a.w and secondarily every Moslem, in fact every human being. See the Note under 002:005)
• مَاۤ — Maa — What (= Whatever; whatsoever; whomever; whoso)
• عِلِّيُّوۡنَ — Il-lee-yoo-n — Illeeyoon (= The sealed and secured book, register or record of the good life and enjoyments of those with exalted ranks will kept in the safest places with the most, highest or maximum security. One translation: “It is probably related to El Elion in the Old Testament’ – N J Dawood)

The Holy Qor-aan                                        083:021                                            ○     كِتٰبٌ مَّرۡقُوۡمٌ ؕ‏

                Kay-taa-boom-mur-qoo-m

               It is a written record

• كِتٰبٌ — Kay-taa-boon — Record (= The sealed and secured statement of an account, written book, penned down record or chronicled register of a person’s life story as to what to what he did in his life time including all his omissions and commissions)
• مَّرۡقُوۡمٌ — Mur-qoo-m — Written (= Accurate, authentic, comprehensive, distinct, fully inscribed, perpetually updated and meticulously kept record or register that leaves out no detail of any good or bad deed done)

The Holy Qor-aan                                        083:022                                            ○   يَّشۡهَدُهُ الۡمُقَرَّبُوۡنَ

               Yush-ha-do-hool-mo-qur-ra-boo-n

               Those closest to God will see that

• يَّشۡهَدُ — Yush-ha-do  — Will see (= 1. Be fortunate to have a look at, take notice; observe or witness. 2. Attest, bear witness or verify)
• هُ — Ho…(ol) — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the recorded book)
• الۡمُقَرَّبُوۡنَ — Mo-qur-ra-boo-n — The Nearest (= Allowed access; brought close or near the Almighty; closest; drawn near / nigh God; favored; near and dear to God; granted nearness to God; The Chosen ones)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         083:023                                        ○  اِنَّ الۡاَبۡرَارَ لَفِىۡ نَعِيۡمٍ

                In-nul-ub-raa-ra-la-fee-na-eem

                Most certainly the righteous will be in bliss

• اِنَّ — In-na..(ul) — Certainly * (= Absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; positively; really; seriously; surely; truly; verily)
• الۡاَبۡرَارَ — Ub-raa-ra — The righteous (= Pious; virtuous)

• فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Contained inside a duration, event, time, place, period, thing or situation)
• نَعِيۡمٍ — Na-eem — Bliss (= n., Blessed; bestowed; delightful; good times; happy; state; indulged in joys and comforts; pleasant life; prosperous; worldly favors)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         083:024                                   ○      عَلَى الۡاَرَآٮِٕكِ يَنۡظُرُوۡنَ

                Alul-araa-ekay-yun-zo-roo-n

                Seated on the couches, seeing everything around 

• عَلٰى — Aa-l..(ul) — On (= Seated or reclining at, on. on top of, over or upon)
• الۡاَرَآٮِٕكِ — Araa-ekay–  The couches (= Comfortable cozy soft seats; couches, high chairs; raised couches. A/t/a Thrones of dignity)
• يَنۡظُرُوۡنَ — Yun-zo-roo-n — Seeing (= v., 1. Gazing around; watching with a commanding view of all they could see. Looking at all that eyes could survey; taking notice of.  2. Considering; reflecting; having regard for)

The Holy Qor-aan                                        083:025                       ○      تَعۡرِفُ فِىۡ وُجُوۡهِهِمۡ نَضۡرَةَ النَّعِيۡمِ ‌

               Tau-ray-fo-fee-wo-joo-hay-him-nuz-ra-tun-na-eem

              You recognize in their faces the radiance of bliss

• تَعۡرِفُ — Tau-ray-fo — You recognize (= Discern; find; identify; locate; notice; see)
• فِىۡ — Fee — In (= 1. Contained or inside a duration, event, time, place, period, thing or situation. 2. Concerning; regarding relative to. 3. Belonging; in the category or rank of)
•  وُجُوۡهِ — Wo-joo-hay — Faces (= n., pl. 1. Facial expression that no mask can hide. 2. The front top of the body of a person that is a tell-tale of what is behind that face and in the mind of the person. Countenance)
• هِمۡ — Him — Their (= pro., pl, .m., 3rd person. Refers to the pious persons)
• نَضۡرَةَ — Nuz-ra-ta.(un) — Radiance (= Appearance; brightness; looks; site; beaming freshness; glow)
• النَّعِيۡمِ — Na-eem — Bliss (= n., Blessed; bestowed; delightful; good times; happy; state; indulged in joys and comforts; pleasant life; prosperous; worldly favors)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         083:026                             ○        يُسۡقَوۡنَ مِنۡ رَّحِيۡقٍ مَّخۡتُوۡمٍ

              Yoos-qoo-na-mir-ra-he-qim-mukh-too-m

              They will be given the drink from a pure beverage, bottled and sealed

• يُسۡقَوۡنَ — Yoos-qoo-na — Given drinks (= Furnished; provided; supplied)
• مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of a class, category, count or kind)
• رَّحِيۡق — Ra-he-qin…(m) — Beverage (= Brew; drink. Generally used for quality pure wines)
• مَّخۡتُوۡمٍ — Mukh-toom — Bottled (= Securely sealed like a bottle of quality wine with a cork to preserve its contents to remain pure and delightfully refreshing beverage without any contamination. Also, like a soda can in modern age is securely sealed to keep its beverage as good as it was when packed and sealed)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         083:027          ○    ؕ خِتٰمُهٗ مِسۡكٌ ‌ؕ وَفِىۡ ذٰلِكَ فَلۡيَتَنَافَسِ الْمُتَنَافِسُوۡنَ

               Khe-taa-mo-hoo-mis-koon–wa-fee-za-le-ka-ful-ya-ta-naa-fa-sil-mo-ta-naa-fe-soon

               Its securing seal is of musk. And for that therefore those striving should strive

• خِتٰمُ — Khe-taa-mo — Securing seal (= Dregs, lees, residue or sediment inside the bottle of the beverage sealed with a cork and so secured; the last of)
• هٗ — Hoo — Its (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid ‘drink’)
• مِسۡكٌ — Misk — Musk (= A perfume with an extremely refreshing fragrance)
• وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
• فِىۡ — Fee — For (= Concerning; for; in; in reference, regarding; relative to)
• ذٰلِكَ — Zaa-le-ka — That (= Right here; such is this; that’s how it is. Here it refers to the strivers’ ‘noble end, aim, goal or pursuit’ to strive)
• فَ — Fa..(ul) — Therefore (= Consequently; as a result; so; then; therefore; yet)
• لۡ — Ul — Certainly (= Absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; in all seriousness; in all sincerity; positively; really; surely; truly; verily)
• يَتَنَافَسِ — Ya-ta-naa-fa-s(il) — Strive (= v., pres., 3^rd person. Aspire. Amorously, devotedly, eagerly, emulously and greatly motivated. Endeavor for. Earnestly hasten to obey Allah. Wish to have)
• الْمُتَنَافِسُوۡنَ — Mo-ta-naa-fe-soon — Those striving (= n., Aspirants. Those endeavoring or wishing to have)

The Holy Qor-aan                                        083:028                                      ○      وَ مِزَاجُهٗ مِنۡ تَسۡنِيۡمٍ

                 Wa-me-zaa-jo-hoo-min-tus-neem

                And its mixture will be from Tusneem

• وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
• مِزَاجُ — Me-zaa-jo — Mixture (= Added or tempered with)
• هٗ — Hoo — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid ‘drink’)
• مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of a class, category, count or kind)
• تَسۡنِيۡمٍ — Tus-neem — Tusneem (= Water coming from the above, the higher ground) *

* Note 083:028.. The spring originating from close to God and reaching down to the righteous. The fountain flowing from high ground to keep its water at its purest. The first word عَيۡنًا [ainun = spring] in the following verse shows that the تَسۡنِيۡمٍ [tusneem = water] is the water of that spring)

The Holy Qor-aan                                        083:029                              ○       عَيۡنًا يَّشۡرَبُ بِهَا الۡمُقَرَّبُوۡنَ

                 Ai-nun-yush-ra-bo-bay-hul-mo-qur-ra-boo-n

                 A fountain with which those nearest to God will be given the drink

• عَيۡنًا — Ai-nun — A fountain (= Body of water; spring; stream)
• يَّشۡرَبُ — Yush-ra-bo — Drink (= Offered and served the drink of. A/t/a will refresh)
• بِ — Bay — With (= The Arabic word بِ literally means ‘with’ in English)
• هَا — Haa — Which (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to the aforesaid fountain)
• الۡمُقَرَّبُوۡنَ — Mo-qur-ra-boon — The nearest (= Allowed access; brought close or near the Almighty; closest; drawn near / nigh God; favored; near and dear to God; granted nearness to God; The Chosen ones)
