The Holy Qor-aan 086:001 to 005
Verses of the Holy Qor-aan are quoted on this site with the numbers, the first set of three being the number of Soorah (Chapter) followed by the last set of three being the number of the verse. Chapter # 86 Soora-toot-Taa-riq سُوۡرَةُ الطّارق
بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ
وَالسَّمَآءِ وَالطَّارِقِ ۙ○ وَمَاۤ اَدۡرٰٮكَ مَا الطَّارِقُ ۙ○ النَّجۡمُ الثَّاقِبُ ۙ○ اِنۡ كُلُّ نَفۡسٍ لَّمَّا عَلَيۡهَا حَافِظٌ ؕ ○ فَلۡيَنۡظُرِ الۡاِنۡسَانُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ ؕ ○ خُلِقَ مِنۡ مَّآءٍ دَافِقٍ ۙ ○ يَّخۡرُجُ مِنۡۢ بَيۡنِ الصُّلۡبِ وَالتَّرَآٮِٕبِ ؕ○ اِنَّهٗ عَلٰى رَجۡعِهٖ لَقَادِرٌ ؕ○ يَوۡمَ تُبۡلَى السَّرَآٮِٕرُ ۙ○ فَمَا لَهٗ مِنۡ قُوَّةٍ وَّلَا نَاصِرٍ ؕ ○ وَالسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ الرَّجۡعِ ۙ○ وَالۡاَرۡضِ ذَاتِ الصَّدۡعِ ۙ ○ اِنَّهٗ لَقَوۡلٌ فَصۡلٌ ۙ○ وَّمَا هُوَ بِالۡهَزۡلِ ؕ○ اِنَّهُمۡ يَكِيۡدُوۡنَ كَيۡدًا ۙ○ وَّاَكِيۡدُ كَيۡدًا ۚۖ○ فَمَهِّلِ الۡكٰفِرِيۡنَ اَمۡهِلۡهُمۡ رُوَيۡدًا
1. Bis-mil-laa-hir-rah-maa-nir-ra-heem
2. Wus-sa-maa-ai-wut-taa-riq
3. Wa-maa-ud-raa-ka-mut-taa-riq
4. Un-nuj-mooth-thaa-qib
5. In-kool-lo-nuf-sin-lum-maa-alai-haa-haa-fiz
6. Ful-yun-zo-ril-in-saa-no-mim-ma-kho-lay-qa
7. Kho-lay-qa-mim-maa-in-daa-fe-quin
8. Yukh-ro-jo-mim-bai-nis-sool-bay-wut-ta-raa-ib.
9. In-na-hoo-alaa-ruj-ai-he-la-qaa-dir.
10. Yao-ma-toob-lus-sa-raa-ero
11. Fa-maa-la-hoo-min-qoo-wa-tin-wa-laa-naa-ser
12. Wus-sa-maa-ai-zaa-tir-ruj-ay
13. Wul-ur-dzay-zaa-tis-sud-ay
14. In-na-hoo-la-qao-loon-fus-loon
15. Wa-maa-ho-wa-bil-huz-lay
16. In-na-hoom-ya-kee-doo-na-kai-daa
17. Wa-akee-do-kai-daa
18. Fa-muh-hay-lil-kaa-fe-ree-na-um-hil-hoom-ro-wai-daa

1. With the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful I begin
2. By the Sky and the Morning Star
3. And who will tell you what the morning star is
4. The star of piercing brightness
5. Surely every soul never ever is without a watch on it.
6. So man should look at from what he was created.
7. He was created from a jetting fluid
8. That comes out from between the loins and the ribs.
9. He most certainly has the power to return him to life.
10. That day the secrets will be divulged
11. He then will have no strength and no helper
12. By the rains that keeps returning
13. And by the earth that has the opening
14. Most definitely this is a decisive word
15. And it is not packed with the idle talk
16. Surely they plot a plan
17. But I too have a plan
18. So bear with the disbelievers. Give them a little respite

Bis-mil-laa-hir-rah-maa-nir-ra-heem
With the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful I begin
(Beginning, commencing, starting)
- بِ — B…(is) — With (= This Arabic word literally means ‘with’. Its translation in English is more accurate with ‘with’ than with ‘in’)
- سۡمِ — Ism…(il) — The name of (= The way to be addressed or called)
- اللهِ — Laa-h…(ir) — Allah (= The Almighty God; the One Only worthy of worship)
- الرَّحۡمٰنِ — Rah-maa-n(ir) — The Most Beneficent (= The One who fully, totally and wholly benefits all, to the maximum, with no condition, limitation or restriction. Compassionate. Gracious)
- الرَّحِيۡمِ — Ra-heem — The Most Merciful (= The One who fully, totally and wholly showers mercy, to the maximum, again and again, continually, indefinitely and perpetually like the endlessly incoming waves from the oceans)

- السَّمَآءَ — Sa-maa-e — The sky (= s., Heavens; All above ground, earth, clouds and space)

- الطَّارِقِ — Taa-riq — Morning star (= The very bright star that appears just before dawn. Night-Visitant; night visitor; comer by the night)

Wa-maa-ud-raa-ka-mut-taa-riq
And who will tell you what the morning star is

- كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. The addressee of this divine message is initially the Holy Prophet s.a.w and secondarily every Moslem, in fact every human being. See Commentary under 002:005)
- مَاۤ — Maa…(ut) — What (= What; whatever; whatsoever; any time; whenever when)
- الطَّارِقِ — Taa-riq — Morning star (= The very bright star that appears just before dawn. The Night-comer. The Night-Visitant)

The star of piercing brightness
- النَّجۡمُ — Un-nuj-mo…(oth) — The Star (= n., An astronomical object usually visible as a small bright point of light in the night sky. A gaseous mass in space that generates energy by some thermonuclear reaction, such as the Sun.
- الثَّاقِبُ — Thaa-qib — Brightness (= Dazzling, piercing, tremendously great brightness)

In-kool-lo-nuf-sin-lum-maa-alai-haa-haa-fiz
Surely every soul never ever is without a watch on it

- لَّمَّا — Lum-maa — Never ever (= This is a combination of two words. The first word is لم (lum) meaning ‘absolutely, certainly, definitely, positively, surely, truly or verily. The second word is ما (maa) meaning ‘no, never, absolutely not; not all. Joined together لَّمَّا (lum-maa) means ‘Certainly not’, ‘definitely never’, ‘never ever’)
- عَلَيۡ — Alai — On (= Above; against; before; during; for; upon top of; over; to)
- هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid ‘soul’)
- حَافِظٌ — Haa-fiz — Watch (= Guardian. Keeper. Protector. A/t/a The angel in-charge who guards and writes all good and bad deeds of a man)
