The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                     102:001 to 009

Verses of the Holy Qor-aan are quoted on this site with the numbers, the first set of three being the number of Soorah (Chapter) followed by the last set of three being the number of the verse. The numbers include بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ‏‏ as the verse #1 in every Soorah except the Soorah #9. The original Arabic word is shown first, or in Col #1. The phonetic transliteration in English is shown next, or in Col #2, and is based upon words commonly pronounced like bat, cat, sat → fate, gate, hate → bait, trait → bay, nay, say → be, he, she → bet, pet, wet → bit, fit, sit → cot, dot, rot → boot, hoot, root → bout, rout → but, cut, hut, ultimatum. Chapter # 102                                 Soora-toot-Tokaa-thir                                       سُوۡرَةُ التّکاثُر

بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ

اَلۡهٰٮكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُۙ‏ ○ حَتّٰى زُرۡتُمُ الۡمَقَابِرَؕ‏ ○ كَلَّا سَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُوۡنَۙ‏ ○ ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُوۡنَؕ‏ ○ كَلَّا لَوۡ تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ عِلۡمَ الۡيَقِيۡنِؕ‏

  لَتَرَوُنَّ الۡجَحِيۡمَۙ‏ ○ ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيۡنَ الۡيَقِيۡنِۙ‏ ○ ثُمَّ لَـتُسۡـَٔـلُنَّ يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ عَنِ النَّعِيۡمِ

  2. Ul-haa-ko-mooth-tha-kaa-soor
  3. Hut-ta-zor-to-mool-ma-qua-bir
  4. Kul-laa-sao-fa-tau-la-moon
  5. Thoom-ma-kul-laa-sao-fa-tau-la-moon
  6. Kul-laa-lao-tau-la-moo-na-il-mool-ya-qeen
  7. La-ta-ra-woon-nul-ja-heem

  3. Until you reach the graves
  4. The fact is that soon you will know
  5. Then (again) the fact is that soon you will know
  6. Fact is that if you knew with the knowledge of certainty
  7. Definitely you will see the hell
  8. Certainly then you will see it with the eye of certainty
  9. Definitely then you will be asked about the prosperity you got and enjoyed so much

The Holy Qor-aan                                          102:001                                  بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ

Bis-mil-laa-hir-rah-maa-nir-ra-heem

With the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful I begin,

(Beginning, commencing, starting)

  • بِ — B…(is) — With (= This Arabic word literally means ‘with’. Its translation in English is more accurate with ‘with’ than with ‘in’)
  • سۡمِ — Ism…(il) — The name of (= The way to be addressed or called)
  • اللهِ — Laa-h…(ir) — Allah (= The Almighty God; the One Only worthy of worship)
  • الرَّحۡمٰنِ — Rah-maa-n.(ir) — The Most Beneficent (= The One who fully, totally and wholly benefits all, to the maximum, with no condition, limitation or restriction. Compassionate. Gracious)
  • الرَّحِيۡمِ — Ra-heem — The Most Merciful (= The One who fully, totally and wholly showers mercy, to the maximum, again and again, continually, indefinitely and perpetually like the incoming waves from the oceans)

The Holy Qor-aan                                          102:002                                               أَلۡهَٮٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ

Ul-haa-ko-mooth-tha-kaa-soor

Beguiles you the competitive multiplication of worldly goodies

  • أَلۡهَٮ — Ul-haa — Beguiles (= Distracts; diverts; drives; misdirects; misleads)
  • کُمُ — Ko-m…(oth) — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You men. The Holy Qor-aan addresses this way generally both men and women)
  • ٱلتَّكَاثُر — Ta-kaa-soor — Multiplication  (= Abundance; continual accumulation of money; greedily competitively accumulated, gathered, hoarded, increased, piled up and stored money, material, riches, worldly goods, possessions, things, valuables and wealth. Also Harsh competitiveness; mutually combative rivalries; perpetual pursuits)

The Holy Qor-aan                                          102:003                                            حَتَّىٰ زُرۡتُمُ ٱلۡمَقَابِرَ

Hut-ta-zor-to-mool-ma-qua-bir

Until you reach the graves

  • حَتّٰى — Hut-ta — Until (= Till)
  • زُرۡ — Zor — Reach (=Arrive; come to; visit)
  • تُمۡ — To-om…(ol) — You all (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You men. The Holy Qor-aan addresses this way generally both men and women)
  • ٱلۡمَقَابِرَ — Ma-qua-bir — Graves (= Burial places; cemeteries; tombs)

The Holy Qor-aan                                          102:004                                           كَلَّا سَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ

Kul-laa-sao-fa-tau-la-moon

The fact is that soon you will know

  • كَلَّا — Kul-laa — The fact is (=Absolutely not; fact is; instead; nay; the reality is that. The word كَلَّاcombines two Arabic words. كَ means ‘like or as if’ and لَّا meaning ‘not’. Joined together it means ‘like it was not’ or ‘absolutely never’)
  • سَوۡفَ — Sao-fa — Soon (= In the near future; in short coming period of time)
  • تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ — Ta-la-moon — You will know (= Aware; knowledgeable)

The Holy Qor-aan                                          102:005                                           ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ

Thoom-ma-kul-laa-sao-fa-tau-la-moon

Then (again) the fact is that soon you will know

  • ثُمَّ — Thoom-ma — Then (= After that)
  • كَلَّا — Kul-laa — Fact is (= Instead; nay; the reality is – see above)
  • سَوۡفَ — Sao-fa — Soon (= In the near future)
  • تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ — Tau-la-moon — You will know (= Aware; knowledgeable)

The Holy Qor-aan                                          102:006                                كَلَّا لَوۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ عِلۡمَ ٱلۡيَقِينِ

Kul-laa-lao-tau-la-moo-na-il-mool-ya-qeen

Fact is that if you knew with the knowledge of certainty

  • كَلَّا — Kul-laa — Fact is — (= Instead; nay; the reality is – see above)
  • لَوۡ — Lao — If  (= If the situation arises; in case; under the circumstances; would it be that)
  • تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ — Tau-la-moona — You know of (= Aware; knowledgeable)
  • عِلۡمَ — Il-mo…(ol) — Knowledge (= Awareness; information)
  • ٱلۡيَقِينِ — Ya-qeen — Certainty (= Absolutely sure)

La-ta-ra-woon-nul-ja-heem

Definitely you will see the hell

  • لَ — La — Definitely (= Absolutely; certainly;  positively; surely; truly; verily)
  • تَرَوُنَّ — Ta-ra-woon…(ul) — You’ll see (= Arrive or reach to observe and witness)
  • ٱلۡجَحِيم — Ja-heem — The Hell (= Purgatory. Also ‘Hellish life in this world’)

The Holy Qor-aan                                          102:008                                         ○ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّہَا عَيۡنَ ٱلۡيَقِينِ

Thoom-ma-la-ta-ra-woon-na-haa-ai-nul-ya-qeen

Certainly then you will see it with the eye of certainty

  • ثُمَّ — Thoom-ma — Then — (= After that)
  • لَ — La — Certainly (= Absolutely;  definitely; positively; surely; truly; verily)
  • تَرَوُنَّ — Ta-ra-woon-na — You’ll see (= Arrive or reach to observe and witness)
  • هَا — Haa — It — (= pro., s., f., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid hell)
  • عَيۡنَ — Ai-n…(ul) — Eye (= Observation; seeing; sight)
  • ٱلۡيَقِينِ — Ya-qeen — Certainty (= Absolutely sure)

The Holy Qor-aan                                          102:009                                 ثُمَّ لَتُسۡـَٔلُنَّ يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ عَنِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ

Thoom-ma-la-toos-aa-loon-na-yao-ma-e-zin-anin-na-eem

              Definitely then you will be asked about the prosperity you got and enjoyed so much

  • ثُمَّ — Thoom-ma — Then — (= After that)
  • لَ — La — Definitely (= Absolutely; certainly; positively; surely;  truly; verily)
  • تُسۡـَٔلُنَّ — Toos-a-loona –You’ll be asked (= Called to account for; inquired, interrogated and questioned)
  • يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ — Yao-ma-e-zin — This day (= Judgment Day; Day of Accounting and Settlement)
  • عَنِ — Un…(in) — About (= Concerning; regarding; relative to)
  • ٱلنَّعِيم — Na-eem — The prosperity  (= Blessings bestowed; delights; good times; indulges; joys and comforts; worldly favors)
