Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                              002:021

.

يَكَادُ الۡبَرۡقُ يَخۡطَفُ اَبۡصَارَهُمۡ‌ؕ كُلَّمَاۤ اَضَآءَ لَهُمۡ مَّشَوۡا فِيۡهِۙ وَاِذَاۤ اَظۡلَمَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ قَامُوۡا‌ؕ

وَلَوۡ شَآءَ اللّٰهُ لَذَهَبَ بِسَمۡعِهِمۡ وَاَبۡصَارِهِمۡ‌ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىۡءٍ قَدِيۡرٌؕ

Ya-kaa-do  ol-baur-qo  yaukh-ta-fo  aub-saa-ra  hoom
Kool-la-maa  aa-dzaa-aa  la  hoom  ma-shao  fee  hay
Wa  aiy-zaa  auz-la-ma  aa-lai  him  qaa-moo
Wa  lao  shaa-aa  ul-laa-ho  la  za-ha-ba
Bay  saum-aiy  him  wa  aub-saa-ray  him
In-na  ul-laa-ha  aa-laa  kool-lay  shai-in  qa-dee-r 

 

The lightning comes close to snatch their seeing
Every time it lighted for them they walked in it.
And when it darkened for them they stood still
And if Allah chose, He surely would have gone away
With their hearing and their seeing.
Indeed Allah is in full control of everything.

 

  • يَكَادُ — Ya-kaa-do … (ol) — Comes close (= v., pes., s., 3rd person. Gets close. A/t/a, almost; as if; just about; quite    close; very nearly)
  • الۡبَرۡقُ — Aul-baur-qo — The lightning (= n., A natural, large-scale and high tension electrical  discharge; electrical outbursts in cloudy skies; electricity; lightening)
  • يَخۡطَفُ — Yaukh-ta-fo — Snatches (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Puts out; snatches; takes out; wipes off)
  • اَبۡصَارَ — Aub-saa-ra — Seeing (= n., pl. Gazes. Seeing. Sights. Visions. Also the ability to see physically and spiritually. See Note 002:008)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Their (= pro., pl, m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid people)
  • كُلَّمَاۤ — Kool-la-maa — Every time (= This is a combination of two words. The first word    كُلَّ  means all, altogether, everyone, entirely, everything, totally, without exception or wholly. The second word  مَا means all that, at any time, at such time, when, whenever, what, whatever. Joined together, كُلَّمَا means every single time without any exception, as often as, as soon as; no sooner than)  
  • اَضَآءَ — Aa-dzaa-a — It lighted (= v., past., s., m., 3rd person. Brightened. Lit the fire that  illuminated, shed or spread light. Manifested. Shined. Showed light)
  • لَ — La — For (= For the attention, benefit, convenience, object or purpose) 
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl, m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid people)
  • مَّشَوۡا — Ma-shao — They walked (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Ambled. Marched. Moved. Sauntered. Staggered. Strode. Tottered. Treaded. Walked. Went)
  • فِي — Fee — In (= Inside. Within. See Note 002:028.  Also, contained in midst of a time, place, period or thing or situation)
  • هِ — Hay — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd  person. Refers to the light)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., Links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; moreover; though; when; while; whereupon; yet)
  • َاِذَاۤ — Aiy-zaa — When (= Any event, occasion, opportunity or time. Behold. Consider Ponder. Recall. Reflect. Remember. See. Think of or call to mind the time, event, occasion or opportunity)
  • اَظۡلَمَ — Auz-la-ma — It darkened (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Became dark; darkened; got dark; lost brightness, light or shine)
  • عَلَيۡ — Aa-lai — On (= Above; against; before; for; on; on top of; over; to; upon)
  • هِمۡ — Him — Them (= pro., pl, m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid people)
  • قَامُوۡا‌ — Qaa-moo — They stood (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Became stationary; did not move; quitted moving; stood up; stood still; stopped)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., Connects words, phrases or clauses; also; but; additionally; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • لَوۡ — Lao — If (= In case; under the circumstances; wish; would it be) 
  • شَآءَ — Shaa-aa … (ul) — Chose (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Allowed; approved; chose;   decided; decreed; designed; determined; dictated; elected; enforced; liked; permitted; planned; pleased; preferred; selected; sanctioned; willed. The meanings ‘desired, wanted or wished’ do not apply relative to the Almighty God Who has all control, power and will to implement instantly what He intends)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
  • لَ — La — Surely (= Absolutely; certainly; definitely; positively; verily)
  • ذَهَبَ — Za-ha-ba — Gone away (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Departed. Gone away. Parted.  Separated. Took off in a different direction. Went) 
  • بِ — Bay — With (= The best translation of the word  بِ  is with)
  • سَمۡعِ — Saum-aiy — Hearing (= Ears. Ability to hear, physically and spiritually)
  • هِمۡ — Him — Their (= pro., pl, m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid people)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases. See وَ  above)
  • اَبۡصَارِ — Aub-saa-ray — Seeing (= n., pl. Gazes. Seeing. Sights. Visions. Also the ability to see, physically and spiritually. See Note 002:008)
  • هِمۡ — Him — Their (= pro., pl, m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid people)
  • إِنَّ — In-na … ( ul) —  Indeed (= Absolutely; certainly; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really; surely; truly; verily

The Holy Qor-aan has frequently stated the truth in the next five words. See Note 002:021

  • ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
  • عَلَى — Aa-laa —  On (= Above; for; of; on; over; upon)
  • كُلِّ — Kool-lay — Every (= All things without exception; entirely; totally; wholly)
  • شَىۡءٍ — Shai-in — Thing (= Article; being; element; item; phenomenon)
  • قَدِيۡرٌ  — Qa-dee-r — In full control (= n., superlative form that includes the meanings of ‘fullness and totality of control.‘  Controller.  Has the absolute power to do what He wills.  Master and possessor of all powers)

 

* Note 002:021. The last five words of this verse اللّٰهَ عَلٰى کُلِّ شَىۡءٍ قَدِيۡرٌ  translate into Allah is in full control of, is the controller of and has power over everything. His attribute of having the supreme powers is summarized in these five simple but powerful words.

The significance of this fundamental attribute of God Almighty is that He is the Creator of the Universe.  He is the Originator, Designer, Fashioner (059:025) and Master who forever is in full control of all that He created.  His control extends to every element and to the minutest detail so that not even a leaf falls without His knowing (006:060).

These words culminate in a different scenario stated which is stated in each verse. The Holy Qor-aan has referred to Him also with a pronoun for the 2nd person (003:027) and 3rd person (041:040). The vowel on the word للّٰهَ (Allah) changes with the word إِنَّ , اَنَّ  or وَ before it.

These five words preceded by إِنَّ or اَنَّ  include 002:021002:107,  002:110,  002:149, 002:260,  003:027,  003:166,  029:021,  041:040,  066:009, etc.

These five words preceded by وَ  include 002:285,  003:030,  003:190,  005:018,  005:020, 005:041,  005:121,  064:002, etc.

Last four words preceded by وَهُوَ are in 064:002 and by  فَهُوَ  are in 006:018
