The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                      004:144

 

مُّذَبۡذَبِيۡنَ بَيۡنَ ‌ ذٰ لِكَ ۖ  لَاۤ اِلٰى هٰٓؤُلَاۤءِ وَلَاۤ اِلٰى هٰٓؤُلَاۤءِ‌ ؕ وَمَنۡ يُّضۡلِلِ اللّٰهُ فَلَنۡ تَجِدَ لَهٗ سَبِيۡلًا‏

 

Mo-zub-za-bai-na-zaa-lay-ka                                                                                                              Laa-elaa-haa-o-laa-aiy-wa-laa-elaa-haa-o-laa-aiy                                                                  Wa-mun-yoodz-lay-lil-laa-ho-fa-lun-ta-jay-da-la-hoo-sa-be-laa

 

They are confused between all this                                                                                        Neither over here nor over there                                                                                      And he who loses his way to Allah, then you can never find a way for him.

 

  •  مُّذَبۡذَبِيۡنَ — Mo-zub-za-be-na — Confused (= n.,  pl., Those who are confounded, doubters, indecisive or waivers like yo-yo’s. A/t/a, ‘(They are) distracted in mind,’ ‘Swaying between this (and that),’ ‘Wavering between that (and this),’ ‘Wavering between this and that,’ ‘Wavering from side to side,’ ‘Wavering between that (- disbelief and belief)’ and ‘Wavering between belief and disbelief’)
  • بَيۡنَ — Bai-na — Between (= In the range between two extremes)
  • ذٰلِكَ — Zaa-lay-ka — All this (= Here; refers to an aforesaid fact, person or statement; it was because; right here; such is this; that is how it is. A/t/a, ‘Even in the midst of it’)
  • لَا — Laa —  Neither (= Naught; neither; never; none; nor; not at all; absolute denial and total negation without exception)
  • اِلَى — Elaa — Over (= In the direction of; to; towards. A/t/a ‘Being (sincerely) for,’ ‘belonging’ and ‘they belong to’)
  • هٰٓؤُلَآءِ — Haa-o-laa-aiy — Here (= pl., All these; refers to aforesaid disbelievers and hypocrites. A/t/a, ‘For one group,’ ‘to these,’ ‘one side’ and ‘wholly on this side’)
  • وَ  — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • لَا — Laa — Nor — (= Naught; neither; never; none; nor; not at all; absolute denial and total negation without exception)
  • اِلَى — Elaa — Over (= In the direction of; to; towards. See اِلَى above)
  • هٰٓؤُلَآءِ — Haa-o-laa-aiy — There (= pl., All these; refers to aforesaid. See هٰٓؤُلَآءِ above. A/t/a, ‘for another,’ ‘to those’ and ‘the other’)

The text in next eleven (11) words is repeated in verses 004:089 and 004:144

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • مَنۡ — Mun — Who (= Anyone; whoever; whom; whomever; whoso. A/t/a, ‘whomsoever’)
  • يُّضۡلِ — Yoodz-lay — He loses (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Goes astray. Directs, puts on  wrong road, misguides, misleads or turns back. A/t/a, ‘leaves astray’ and ‘leaves in error.’ and ‘forsakes.’ But inappropriate translations like the ’causes to perish,’ ’causes to be ruined,’ ’causeth to go astray’ and ‘sends astray’ because GOD is All-Forgiving Who Guides, and ‘has led astray’ in the past tense because the Holy Qor-aan has       described the said activity in the present tense. See Note 004:089)
  • لِلۡ — L … (il) — To (= Concerning, for; regarding; relative to; intended for; to; towards)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • فَ — Fa — Then (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; in conclusion; so; thereafter; therefore; thus)
  • لَنۡ — Lun — Never (= Absolute denial; no; not; not at all; total negation; by no means. A/t/a, ‘can not’)
  • تَجِدُ — Ta-jay-do — You find (= v., pres., s., 2nd person. Access; attain; come across;  confront; discover; experience; face; find; get; look at; observe; reap; receive; see; uncover. See Note 004:053. A/t/a, ‘thou … find,’ ‘thou shalt … find,’ ‘you shall’ and ‘you … guide’)
  • لَ — La — To (= For the object, person, purpose or reason of; intended for; on account of; concerning; regarding; relative to)
  • هٗ — Hoo — His (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the Almighty God)
  • سَبِيۡلًا — Sa-be-laa — Way (= n., s., Action; alternative; cause, course; escape; line;  means; measure; method; path; pretext; remedy; road; way. See Note 004:089  & Phrase fee-sa-be-lil-laa-hay. A/t/a, ‘the way,’ ‘a way,’ ‘a way of escape,’ ‘a way (of escape),’ ‘a way of deliverance’ and ‘a way (to the truth — Islam’)
