يَسۡــَٔـلُكَ اَهۡلُ الۡـكِتٰبِ اَنۡ تُنَزِّلَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ كِتٰبًا مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ‌ فَقَدۡ سَاَ لُوۡا مُوۡسٰٓى اَكۡبَرَ مِنۡ ذٰ لِكَ فَقَالُوۡۤا اَرِنَا اللّٰهَ جَهۡرَةً فَاَخَذَتۡهُمُ الصّٰعِقَةُ بِظُلۡمِهِمۡ‌‌ ۚ  ثُمَّ اتَّخَذُوا الۡعِجۡلَ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ مَا جَآءَتۡهُمُ الۡبَيِّنٰتُ فَعَفَوۡنَا عَنۡ ذٰ لِكَ‌‌‌‌ ۚ   وَاٰتَيۡنَا مُوۡسٰى سُلۡطٰنًا مُّبِيۡنًا‏

Yus-aa-lo-ka-ah-lool-kay-taa-bay-un-to-nuz-zil                                                                            Alai-him-kay-taa-bun-may-nus-sa-maa-aiy                                                                                  Fa-qud-sa-aa-loo-moo-saa-uk-ba-ro-min-zaa-lay-ka                                                                  Fa-qaa-loo-aa-ray-nul-laa-ha-juh-ra-ton                                                                                      Fa-aa-kha-zut-ho-moos-saa-aiy-qa-to-bay-zool-may-him

Thoom-mut-ta-kha-zool-ij-la-min-bau-day                                                                                      Jaa-ut-ho-mool-buy-yay-naa-to                                                                                                          Fa-aa-fao-naa-un-zaa-lay-ka                                                                                                            Wa-aa-tai-naa-moo-saa-sool-taa-nun-mo-be-naa

The people of Book ask you that you bring down                                                        Upon them a Book from the Heaven                                                                                 But then they surely had asked Moses far greater than that.                                      Then they said, “Show us Allah full-face.”                                                                          But a thunderbolt struck them for their wrongdoing

Then they took a calf for worship after                                                                          Clear signs had come to them                                                                                                  But We forgave them that too                                                                                          And We gave Moses an obvious authority

• يَسۡـَٔـلُ — Yus-aa-lo — Ask (= v., pres., s., 3^rd person. Ask; beg; demand; entreat; implore; insist; question; request; seek)
• كَ — Ka —  You (= pro., s., m., 2^nd person. You single male. The addressee   of this divine message is initially the Holy Prophet s.a.w. See the Note under 002:005. A/t/a, ‘thee’ and ‘thou’)  
• اَهۡلُ — Ah-lo…(ol) — People of (= Believers in and users of; folks; those belonging to; those entrusted to)
• الۡكِتٰبِ — Ul-kay-taa-bay — The Book (= n., The Divine Directive of Commands, Prohibitions and Regulations. A/t/a, ‘the Scripture,’ ‘earlier Scripture (Jews)’ and ‘the Scripture (Jews). See verse 002:003)
• اَنۡ — Un — That (= So that)
• تُنَزِّلَ — To-nuz-zay-la — You bring down (= v., pres., s., 2^nd person. Bring down; descend; deliver, entrust; furnish; hand down; inspire; land or lower down; provided; released; revealed; sent down; supplied. A/t/a, ‘to cause … to descend,’ ‘thou cause … to descend,’ ‘thou shouldst cause an (actual) … to descend’ and ‘to bring down’)
• عَلَيۡ– Alai — On (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; on top of; over; to; upon)
• هِمۡ — Him — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3 ^rd person. Those men; they; them; their)
• كِتٰبًا — Kay-taa-bun    Divine Book    (= n., A book. Scripture. See الۡكِتٰبِ  above)
• مِّنَ — May-na…(us) — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several
• السَّمَآءِ‌ — Sa-maa-aiy — The Heaven (= n., s., Ref to God Almighty. Heaven. The word means all above ground, sky, space, universe or rain)
• فَقَدۡ — Fa-qud — Most certainly (= Definitely; indeed. See Note 004:049 and Commentary ‘2 Words of Emphasis used together Multiply Effect‘)
• سَاَ لُوۡا  — Sa-aa-loo — They asked (= v., past., pl., 3^rd person. Asked; begged; demanded.    A/t/a, ‘had made … a demand’ and ‘made … demand.’ See يَسۡـَٔـلُ above)
• مُوۡسٰٓى — Moo-saa — Moses (= The name of a Prophet)
• اَكۡبَرَ — Uk-ba-ra — Greater (= Superlative adj. Far bigger, greater, graver, more magnificent miracle. A/t/a, ‘even more preposterous demand,’ ‘(more wicked and) greater’  and ‘a harder thing than that’)
• مِنۡ — Min — Than (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon. A/t/a, ‘than’)
• ذٰلِكَ — Zaa-lay-ka — That (= Here; refers to an aforesaid fact, person or statement; right here; this; that; ‘that is how it is. A/t/a, ‘aforetime’)
• فَ — Fa — So (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; in conclusion; so; thereafter; therefore; thus. A/t/a, ‘for’ and ‘when’)
• قَالُوۡۤا — Qaa-loo — They said (= v., past., pl., 3^rd person. Announced, argued; conveyed;  demanded; explained; informed; insisted; stated; told. See Commentary ‘You say’ means’)
• اَرِ — Aa-ray — Show (= v., pres., 2^nd person. Demonstrate; disclose; manifest. show and ‘let us see’)
• نَآ — Na(ul) — Us (= pro., m & g., pl., 1^st person. Our; We; Us.)
• ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
• جَهۡرَةً —  Juh-ra-ton — Full face (= adv., Face to face; manifestly; openly; plainly; visibly;  ‘with naked eye. A/t/a, ‘in public,’ ‘openly (face to face),’ ‘with our own eyes’ and ‘distinctly’)
• فَ — Fa —  So (= Consequently; so; then; thereafter; therefore; yet. A/t/a, ‘Thereupon’)
• اَخَذَتۡ — Aa-kha-zut — (She) Struck (= v., past., f., 3^rd person. The female gender imbedded  here refers to the word الصّٰعِقَةُ that follows it. Arrested; caught; detained; drew; got hold of; grabbed; held; hit; pounded; punished; overtook; seized; smote; struck; took. A/t/a, ‘they were struck’ and ‘were afflicted with’ but such translation in the passive voice is not of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the active voice)
• هُمُ — Ho-mo..(os) — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3 ^rd person. Those men; they; their)
• الصّٰعِقَةُ — Saa-aiy-qa-to — Thunderbolt (= n., s., Flash of lightning followed by the loud lingering sounds of thunder. Frightening sound of a thunderbolt, thunder-clasp or thunder-peal. Also noisy, screaming and shouting thing in feminine gender. A/t/a, ‘thunder and lightning,’ ‘the storm of lightning,’ ‘destructive punishment,’ ‘destructive chastisement,’ ‘thunderbolt’ and ‘thunderclasp and lightning’)
• بِ — Bay — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with. A/t/a, ‘on account of,’ ‘because of’ and ‘for’)
• ظُلۡمِ — Zool-may — Wrongdoing (= n., s., Bad faith, harmful or unjust actions, behaviors, conducts, stances or ways. Crimes. Evils. Guilts. High-handedness. Impropriety. Inequity. Injustice. Sin. Transgression. Violation. Wickedness. Wrongdoing. A/t/a, ‘were dazed For their presumption,’ ‘evil-doing,’ ‘wrongdoing’ and ‘wickedness’)
• هِمۡ — Him — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3 ^rd person. Those men; their)
• ثُمَّ — Thoom-ma(ut) — Then (= After that; further more; subsequently; thereafter. A/t/a, ‘yet’ and ‘then’)
• اتَّخَذُوا — Ta-khaa-zoo — They took (= v., past., pl., 3^rd person. Adopted; chose. A/t/a, ‘they took’  and ‘worshipped.’  See اَخَذَتۡ above)
• الۡعِجۡلَ — Ij-la — The calf (= Baby cow prior to growing into a heifer. A/t/a, ‘the calf (for a god),’ ‘the calf (for worship),’ ‘the calf for worship,‘ ‘worshipping the calf’ and ‘the calf’)
• مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon)
• بَعۡدِ — Bau-day — After (= Afterwards; subsequent to; succeeding. A/t/a, ‘after’ and ‘even after’
• مَاۤ — Maa — All that (= What; whatever; whatsoever)
• جَآءَتۡ — Jaa-ut — Had come (= v., past., s., f., 3^rd person. Arrived; came; had come;          reached; returned. In different context the word can mean achieved, brought, delivered, settled or succeeded. A/t/a, ‘revealed’)
• هُمُ — Ho-mo..(ol) — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3 ^rd person. Those men; they; their. A/t/a, ‘unto them’)
• الۡبَيِّنٰتُ — Buy-ya-naa-to — Clear Signs (= pl., Clear, convincing, irrefutable, manifest, veritable and sure arguments, corroborations, evidences, proofs, portents, signs and testimonies of Allah and the Truth. A/t/a, ‘clear signs,’ ‘clear proofs (of Allah’s sovereignty),’ ‘clear proofs, evidences and sign,’ ‘clear commandments’ and ‘Our signs’)
• فَ — Fa — So (= Consequently; hence; then; therefore; yet. A/t/a, ‘Even so’ and ‘but’)
• عَفَوۡ — Aa-fao — Excused (= v., past., s., 1^st person. Forgave; looked the other way; pardoned)
• نَآ — Naa — Us (= pro., pl., 1^st person. Our; We; Us. Also, used with God’s name it is the authoritative way a higher-up talks to a subordinate)
• عَنۡ — Un — From (= About; concerning; regarding; relative to)
• ذٰلِكَ — Zaa-lay-ka — This (= Here; refers to an aforesaid fact, person or statement; it was because; right here; such is this; that is how it is. A/t/a, ‘even that’ and ‘that’)
• وَ  — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
• اٰتَيۡ — Aa-tai — Gave (= v., past., s., 3^rd person. Awarded; bestowed; brought; conferred upon; gave; granted. See 002:178)
• نَآ — Naa — Us (= pro., pl., 1^st person. Our; We; Us. See نَآ above)
• مُوۡسٰٓى — Moo-saa — Moses (= The name of a Prophet)

The combination of following two words is also in 004:092, 004:145, and 004:154

• سُلۡطٰنًا — Sool-ta-nun — Authority (= n., Allowance; authorization; decree; justification, plan permission; power; proof; reason that is convincing; sanction; warrant. The word also means a king, monarch or a mighty irrefutably powerful argument, source of authority  or support. A/t/a, ‘authority,’ ‘proof of authority’  and ‘strength’)
• مُّبِيۡنًا‏ — Mo-bee-na — Obvious (= adj., Apparent; clear; evident; flagrant; glaring; gross;   lucid; manifest; obvious; open; palpable; patent, unambiguous; unmistakable. A situation that is avowed, cleared, declared, marked or sworn to be without any  blemish, hindrance or obstruction which could cloud or fog the view. Also an adv: clearly; evidently; grossly; manifestly; obviously; openly. A/t/a, ‘manifest,’ ‘clear,’ ‘evident’ and ‘undisputed’)
