The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                   002:127

.

وَاِذۡ قَالَ اِبۡرٰهٖمُ رَبِّ اجۡعَلۡ هٰذَا بَلَدًا اٰمِنًا وَّارۡزُقۡ اَهۡلَهٗ مِنَ الثَّمَرٰتِ مَنۡ اٰمَنَ مِنۡهُمۡ بِاللّٰهِ وَالۡيَوۡمِ الۡاٰخِرِ‌ؕ قَالَ وَمَنۡ كَفَرَ فَاُمَتِّعُهٗ قَلِيۡلًا ثُمَّ اَضۡطَرُّهٗۤ اِلٰى عَذَابِ النَّارِ‌ؕ وَبِئۡسَ الۡمَصِيۡرُ‏‏

.

Wa-iz-qaa-la-ib-raa-he-mo
Rub-bij-ul-haa-za-ba-la-dun-aa-may-nun
Wur-zooq-ah-la-hoo-may-nuth-tha-ma-raa-tay
Mun-aa-ma-na-min-hoom-bil-laa-hay-wul-yao-mil-aa-khay-ray
Qaa-la-wa-mun-ka-fa-ra-fa-o-mut-tay-o-hoo-qa-lee-lun
Thoom-ma-udz-tur-ro-hoo-elaa-azaa-bin-naar
Wa-bae-sul-ma-see-r.

And call to mind when Abraham said,
“My God make this town a place of peace
And give its residents from the fruits
Who among them believed in Allah and the Last Day.”
He (Allah) said, “And who denied, then I will still let him enjoy a little
Then I will force him towards the punishment of fire
And that will be an evil destination.”

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • اِذۡ — Iz — When (= Behold; call to mind, recall; remember or think of the time, event, occasion, opportunity or time)
  • قَا لَ — Qaa-la — Said (= v., past., s., m., 3rd person. Beseeched; invoked; prayed;  requested; stated; submitted; supplicated. The word  قَا لَ  describes Abraham’s (a) prayer to God Almighty stated in the verses 002:127 and 014:036), (b) question to his  father asked in 006:075 and (c) an information to his father regarding the said incident as stated in 026:070 to 026:072)
  • اِبۡرٰهٖمُ — Ib-raa-he-mo — Abraham (= The name of a Messenger / Prophet of Allah)
  • رَبِّ — Rub-b…(ij) — God (= The Almighty Allah who fills all needs of all creatures
    Creator; Guardian; Master; The Lord Provident. The Only One Who provides all that sustains life. Ultimate Provider of air, water, food and whatever we and all His other creatures need to live and subsist)
  • اجۡعَلۡ — Ij-ul —  Make  (= Appoint; depute; give; grant; set up; turn; vouchsafe)
  • هَـٰذَا — Haa-za — This (= The article, thing or person present before the talker)
  • بَلَدًا — Ba-la-dun — Town (= Refers to the town of Mecca also spelled as Makkah. One may personalize this prayer with his own area, hamlet, city, country, region or territory)
  • اٰمِنًا — Aa-may-nun — Place of peace (= Safety; security; where there is no disturbance, law and order situation or turmoil. Inviolate and Secure)
  • وَّ — Wa…(ur) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses.. See وَ  above)
  • ارۡزُقۡ — Ur-zooq — Give (= Bestow, donate, feed, furnish, grant, provide or supply all kinds of eatables, food, provisions and consumable necessities to sustain life.  A/t/a Materialistic assets like money; property; resources; wealth; worldly goods)
  • اَهۡلَ — Ah-la — Residents (= Believers in and users of; citizens; dwellers; families; inhabitants; live-ins; masters; natives; owner; people; occupants; populace; population; those belonging to)
  • هٗ — Hoo — Its (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid ‘Town’)
  • مِنَ — May-n…(uth) — From (= From or out of the class, category, count, kind, persons)
  • الثَّمَرٰتِ — Tha-ma-raa-tay — The fruits (= All kinds and varieties of edible harvest from the trees.   Fruits of labor.    Use of God-given abilities, blessings, efforts, hard work, capacities, opportunities and talents)
  • مَنۡ — Mun — Who (= Anyone; whom; whomsoever. Such or those of them)
  • اٰمَنَ — Aa-ma-na — Believed (= v., p tense. Believed. Confirmed, embraced, evidenced, testified and witnessed to have entered the Faith)
  • مِنۡ — Min — Among (= From the class, category, count, kind, person or out of
  • ھُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid residents)
  • بِ — B…(il) — In (= The literal equivalent of this word in English is ‘with’.   Used with God’s name its best translation is with ‘in’)
  • اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
  • وَ — Wa… (ul) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • الۡيَوۡمِ — Yao-m…(il) — The Day (= s., Juncture; period, term or time that comes to an end)
  • الۡاٰخِرِ — Aaa-khay-ray — Last (= Coming; later; yet to come. Since the word الۡيَوۡم means ‘day’ and الۡاٰخِرِ  means ‘yet to come’, the phrase, means The End Day, The Judgment Day; The Resurrection)
  • قَا لَ — Qaa-la — He said (= v., pas., s., m., 3rd person. Announced; answered; told; broadcast; called; conveyed; declared; directed; replied responded; informed; specified; stated. Some people have verbalized the implication here by adding ‘Yea’, ‘Indeed’, or ‘So shall it be’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • مَنۡ — Mun — Whoever (= Anyone. Also, ‘on him too who does not believe’)
  • كَفَرَ — Ka-fa-ra — Denied (= Disbelieved; acted ungratefully; failed to appreciate, thank and gratefully use and utilize God’s blessings opportunities provided. 2. As a forecast: ‘Those too who in future would disbelieve in Allah and Islam’)
  • فَ — Fa — Then (= Consequently; resultantly; then; thereafter; therefore)
  • اُمَتِّعُ — O-mut-tay-o — I will let him (= Benefit, bestow or deliver favors. Enable, equip with or furnish, give, grant or supply worldly assets, goods, and pleasures enjoy a bit of life. Leave in contentment)
  • هٗ — Hoo — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to ‘the ungrateful’)
  • قَلِيۡلًا — Qa-lee-lun — Little (= A bit, little, less or small in time, number, quality or quantity, a little. Also, a short while)
  • ثُمَّ — Thoom-ma — Then (= After that; thereafter)
  • اَضۡطَرّ — Udz-tur-ro — I will force (= Compel; forcibly drag or drive)
  • هٗ — Hoo — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to ‘the ungrateful’)
  • اِلٰٓى — E-laa — Towards (= In the direction of; to)
  • عَذَابِ — Azaa-b…(in) — Punishment (= Chastisement; doom; penalty; recompense; torment; torture; scourge)
  • النَّارِ — Naa-r — The Fire (= Hell; purgatory. Allah’s anger, punishment or wrath)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • بِئۡسَ — Bae-s…(ul) — Evil (= Bad; miserable; undesirable; unfortunate; worst)
  • الۡمَصِيۡرُ — Ma-see-r — Destination (= End of a journey or travel. Eventual and final fate. Return of everything)
