The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                    005:054

 

 وَيَقُوۡلُ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡۤا اَهٰٓؤُلَاۤءِ الَّذِيۡنَ اَقۡسَمُوۡا بِاللّٰهِ جَهۡدَ اَيۡمَانِهِمۡ‌ۙ اِنَّهُمۡ لَمَعَكُمۡ‌ ؕ حَبِطَتۡ اَعۡمَالُهُمۡ فَاَصۡبَحُوۡا خٰسِرِيۡنَ

 

Wa-ya-qoo–lool-la-zee-na-aa-ma-noo                                                                                              Aa-haa-o-laa-il-la-zee-na-uq-sa-moo                                                                                            Bil-laa-hay-juh-da-aiy-maa-nay-him                                                                                                In-na-hoom-la-ma-aa-koom                                                                                                                Ha-bay-tut-au-maa-lo-hoom-fus-ba-hoo-khaa-say-ree-n

 

And those who believed say,                                                                                                   “Are these the people who swore                                                                                          By Allah their strongest of oaths                                                                                            That they surely were with you?”                                                                                            Their actions wasted. So they became losers.

 

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but                           also; more over; though; when; while; yet. A/t/a, ‘Then’)
  • يَقُولُ — Ya-qoo-lo … (ol) — They say (= v., pr., pl., m., 3rd person. Announce; ask; broadcast; call; convey; declare; demand; elaborate; explain; inform; inquire; profess; question; specify; state; tell. A/t/a, ‘will say,’ ‘will … say (unto the people of the Scripture),’ ‘will say (at that time)’ and ‘will say concerning them’)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Those articles, things or persons)
  • اٰمَنُوۡۤ — Aa-ma-noo — They Believed (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Believed in the Holy Qor-aan; became Moslems; Accepted, acknowledged, admitted or witnessed their entry in Iss-laam. See Commentaries Phrase Aa-ma-noo-wa-aa-may-loos … and Believe and Disbelieve that floodlight other aspects how the Holy Qor-aan has used this word. A/t/a, ‘who have believed.’ But ‘believe’ which is a verb in the present tense and ‘believers’ and ‘faithful’ which are nouns are no translations of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated as a verb in the past tense)
  • اَ — Aa — Are (= Question mark like Are, Can, Have, Shell or Will?.
  • هٰٓؤُلَآءِ — Haa-o-laa-aiy — These (= pro., pl., All these. Refers to the aforesaid people. A/t/a, ‘these’)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Those articles, things or persons. A/t/a, ‘the men,’ ‘the men (hypocrites),’ ‘they who’ and ‘the ones’)
  • اَقۡسَمُوۡا — Uq-sa-moo — Swore (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Affirmed; cited as a witness;  took oath; swore)
  • بِ  — Bay … (il) — With (= Literally the word  بِ  means with)
  • اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • جَهۡدَ — Juh-da — Strongest (= Adj., The best, highest, earnest, strongest or tops.  A/t/a, ‘most forcible,’ ‘most binding,’ ‘most solemn,’ ‘most earnest,’ ‘solemnly’ and ‘strongest’)
  • اَيۡمَانِ — Ai-maa-nay — Oaths (= n., Affirmations; declarations; pledge; promise; vow;  statements of truth, trust and confidence. A/t/a, ‘oath’  and ‘oaths’)
  • هِمۡ — Him — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; their)
  • اِنَّ — In-na — Certainly (= Absolutely; clearly, decidedly; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really; surely; truly; verily. A/t/a, ‘that … surely’)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — They (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they)
  • لَ — La — Certainly (= Absolutely; assuredly; categorically; clearly, definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; positively; really; truly; seriously; sincerely; specifically; surely; verily. A/t/a, ‘entirely’)
  • مَعَ — Ma-aa — With (= Along with; in the company of; following; with. A/t/a, ‘stand with’)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. A/t/a, ‘you (Muslims)’
  • حَبِطَتۡ — Ha-bay-tut — Wasted (= v., past., f/g., 3rd person. Amounted to nothing. Became vain. Came to naught. Fell to waste. Turned fruitless. Were destroyed, lost, ruined or spoiled. A/t/a, ‘have failed,’ ‘gone waste (and their machination failed’ and ‘has been in vain (because of their hypocrisy).’ But stating ‘are vain’ and ‘are fruitless’ as nouns or ‘will be in vain,’ ‘will come to nothing’ and ‘will bear no fruits’ as verbs in the future tense are no translations of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated as a verb in the past tense)
  • اَعۡمَال — Au-maa-lo —  Actions (= n., pl., Appropriate activity; good deeds; virtuous acts; works. A/t/a, ‘deeds’)
  • ھُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to said disbelievers)
  • فَ — Fa … (us) — So (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; in conclusion; so; then; thereafter; therefore; thus)
  • اَصۡبَحُوۡا — Us-ba-hoo — They became (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Turned into. A/t/a, ‘they  became’ and ‘they have become.’ However, ‘they will fall into (nothing but),’ ‘they will be’ and ‘they shall be’ in the future tense are no translations of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • خٰسِرِيۡنَ — Khaa-say-ree-n — The Losers (= n., pl., Real and total failures; those who loose or are lost. Losers; real and total failures; those who lose or have lost. A/t/a, ‘ruin’ and  and ‘ruined’ but they are verbs and no translations of the noun that the Holy Qor-aan has used)
