The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                     006:131

 

يٰمَعۡشَرَ الۡجِنِّ وَالۡاِنۡسِ اَلَمۡ يَاۡتِكُمۡ رُسُلٌ مِّنۡكُمۡ يَقُصُّوۡنَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ اٰيٰتِىۡ وَيُنۡذِرُوۡنَكُمۡ لِقَآءَ يَوۡمِكُمۡ هٰذَا‌  ؕ قَالُوۡا شَهِدۡنَا عَلٰٓى اَنۡفُسِنَا‌ وَغَرَّتۡهُمُ الۡحَيٰوةُ الدُّنۡيَا وَشَهِدُوۡا عَلٰٓى اَنۡفُسِهِمۡ اَنَّهُمۡ كَانُوۡا كٰفِرِيۡنَ‏

           

Yaa  mau-sha-ra-ul-jin-nay  wul-in-say                                                                                            Aa  lum  yau-tay  koom  ro-so-loon  min  koom                                                                                Ya-qoos-soo-na  alai  k oom  aa-yaa-tee  wa                                                                                Yoon-zay-roo-na  koom  lay-qaa-aa  yao-may  koom  haa-zaa

Qaa-loo  sha-hid  naa  alaa  un-fo-say  naa                                                                                      Wa   ghur-rut  ho-mool  ha-yaa-tood  doon-yaa                                                                              Wa  sha-hay-doo  alaa  un-fo-say  him                                                                                              Un-na  hoom  kaa-noo  kaa-fay-ree-n

 

Listen! You the group of Jinn and Men!                                                                            Have not come to you messengers from among you                                                      Telling you of My signs and                                                                                              Warning you of your meeting of this day.”

The said, “We have testified against ourselves.”                                                        And the life of this world beguiled them.                                                                            And they testified against themselves                                                                              That they have been ungrateful.

  • الۡجِنِّ — Jin-nay — Jinn (= n., The hidden and invisible creation. A/t/a, ‘of men, big’ and ‘jinn (-fiery natured, haughty)’
  • وَ — Wa … (ul) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • الۡاِنۡسِ — In-say — Men (= The human being; mankind. A/t/a, ‘(ordinary) people’ and ‘men … small’)

A/t/a, ‘setting forth,’ ‘relating’ and ‘reciting.’ But the past tense in ‘who related,’ ’who recited,’ ‘who proclaimed’ and ‘who recounted’ is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the present tense)

  • قَالُوۡا —  Qaa-loo — They said (= v., past, s., 3rd person. Announced; broadcast; called  conveyed; declared; informed; elaborated; explained; specified; told. A/t/a, ‘They will say,’ ‘They shall say’ and ‘They will reply’ in the future tense is not a translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • شَهِدۡ — Sha-hid — Testified (= v., past, 1st person. Attested; proved; stated or told on oath. A/t/a, ‘bear witness,’ ‘bear witness … to that effect,’ ‘(Yes) we bear witness,’ and ‘testify’ have used the prsent tense but the Holy Qor-aan has stated the fact in the past tense)
  • نَآ  — Naa — We (= pro., pl., 1st person. Our; Us)

  • كٰفِرِيۡنَ — Kaa-fay-ree-n — Ungrateful (= n., pl. Those who denied, disbelieved, disclaimed, failed to acknowledge, lacked Faith, rejected Iss-laam  and God Almighty or were thankless and ungrateful. See our Commentary Believe and Disbelieve.
