The Holy Qor-aan 002:089
وَقَالُوۡا قُلُوۡبُنَا غُلۡفٌؕ بَل لَّعَنَهُمُ اللّٰهُ بِكُفۡرِهِمۡ فَقَلِيۡلًا مَّا يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ
Wa-qaa-loo-qo-loo-bo-naa-ghoolf
Bul-la-na-ho-mool-laa-ho-bay-koof-ray-him
Fa-qa-lee-lum-maa-yoe-may-noo-n.
And they said, “Our hearts are sealed.”
The fact is that Allah has cursed them with (= on account of) their disbelief.
So little is that they believe.
- وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
- قَا لُوۡا — Qaa-loo — They said (= v., pl., m; 3rd person. Alleged; argued; asserted; told; claimed; contended; countered; declared; informed; maintained; replied; responded; specified; stated)
- قُلُوۡبُ — Qo-loo-bo — Hearts (= Mind; souls. Also inner beliefs)
- نَآ — Naa — Us (= pro., pl., m & f., 1st person. Us all. Ref is to the Israelites)
- غُلۡفٌ — Ghoolf — Sealed (= Closed. Firmly made up. Hardened. Repository. Sealed storehouse of knowledge. Under covers, under wraps or impermeably wrapped in covers so as not hear or understand. Also “Wrappings (which persevere God’s word; we need more)” – A. Yusuf Ali.
- بَل — Bul — The fact is (= Nay; but really; however; instead; the realty is)
- لَّعَنَ — La-aa-na — Cursed (= Condemned; deprived them of God’s mercy; doomed)
- هُمُ — Ho-mo…(ol) — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. They. Ref is to the Israelites)
- اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
- بِ — Bay — With (= This word in Arabic literally means with. Also because; due to; for the reason; on account of)
- كُفۡرِ — Koof-ray — Disbelief (= n., Blasphemy; denial; refusal or rejection of the Faith or belief in Islam; rebellion; unbelief. Being heretic, infidel, ingrate, non-believer, thankless or ungrateful to God by failure to use His gifts of abilities, blessings, capabilities, capacities, opportunities and talents)
- هِمۡ — Him — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. They. Ref is to the Israelites)
- فَ — Fa — So (= As a result; consequently then; thereafter; therefore; yet
- قَلِيۡلًا — Qa-lee-lun(m) — Little (= A while, small or short in time, quality or quantity
- مَّا — Maa — That (= What; whatever; whatsoever)
- يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ — Yoe-may-noo-n — They believe (= v., Acknowledge; believe in the Holy Qor-aan, Islam and become Moslems; enter the Faith; follow the right religion; have faith; trust)
