The Holy Qor-aan                                          079:038                                               فَاَمَّا مَنۡ طَغٰى ۙ

                 Fa-um-maa-mun-ta-ghaa

                Thus as regards he who rebelled

  • فَ — Fa — Thus (= Consequently; as a result; so; then; thus; therefore; yet)
  • اَمَّا — Um-maa — As regards (= Combination of two words. The first word اَن means ‘that.’ The second word مَا means ‘all that or whatever.’ Joined together they mean ‘whatever’ or ‘as far as’
  • مَنۡ — Mun — Who (= Anyone; what; whatsoever; whoever; whoso)
  • طَغٰى — Ta-ghaa — Rebelled (= Committed excesses, corrupted, exceeded all limits in disbelief and oppression, infested, led to sinful life, rampaged, ravished, transgressed or violated people beyond bounds in the areas of his rule. Turned insolent or into a tyrant. Was excessive and inordinate. A/t/a Transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins; polytheism, disbelief )

The Holy Qor-aan                                         079:039                                             وَاٰثَرَ الۡحَيٰوةَ الدُّنۡيَا

                 Wa-aa-tha-rul-ha-yaa-tud-doon-yaa

                And preferred the present life

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • اٰثَرَ — Aa-tha-ra…(ul) — Preferred (= Chose; selected)
  • لۡحَيٰوةِ — Ha-yaa-t..(ud) — Life (= The quality shown by functions among other things of growth and response to stimulation and reproduction by which living organisms are distinguished from dead organisms and inanimate matter)
  • ٱلدُّنۡيا — Doon-yaa — The present (= Hither. Life here on earth, of near short term, of near world close at hand. Worldly benefits, happiness and pleasures. Disregard of the life after death)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         079:040                                   فَاِنَّ الۡجَحِيۡمَ هِىَ الۡمَاۡوٰى ؕ

                 Fa-in-nul-ja-he-ma-hay-yul-mau-waa

                Then surely it is the Hell that is the abode

  • فَ — Fa — Then (= Consequently; as a result; so; then; thus; therefore; yet)
  • اِنَّ — In-na…(ul) — Surely (= Absolutely; certainly; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly indeed; positively; seriously; really; truly; verily)
  • ٱلۡجَحِيم — Ja-he-ma — The Hell (= Blazing Fire. Purgatory; Gehenna; hell-fire. Also the hellish life in this world)
  • هِىَ — Hay-ya…(ul) — That is (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to the aforesaid Hell)
  • الۡمَاۡوٰى — Mau-waa — The abode (= Destination; dwelling; end; final home; goal; resort; resting place)

وَاَمَّا مَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهٖ وَ نَهَى النَّفۡسَ عَنِ الۡهَوٰى ۙ‏

                Wa-um-maa-mun-khaa-fa-ma-qaa-ma-rub-bay-he-wa-na-hun-nuf-sa-aa-nil-ha-waa

                And as regards who feared standing before his God and restrained himself from lust

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ above)
  • اَمَّا — Um-maa — As regards (= Combination of two words. The first word اَن means ‘that.’ The second word مَا means ‘all that or whatever.’ Joined together they mean ‘whatever’, ‘as regards’, etc)
  • مَنۡ — Mun — Who (= Anyone; what; whatsoever; whoever; whoso)
  • خَافَ — Khaa-fa — Feared (= Afraid, fearful, scared or worried about angering God)
  • مَقَامَ — Ma-qaa-ma — Standing (= Position or station of one standing before a higher-up to answer and account for something)
  • رَبِّ — Rub-bay — God (= The Almighty Allah who fills needs of all creatures;
    Cherisher; Creator; Guardian; Master; Lord Provident. The Only One Who provides all that sustains life. The Ultimate Provider of air, water, food and whatever we and all other creatures need to live and subsist)
  • هٖ — He — His (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid pious person
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ above)
  • نَهَى — Na-ha…(un) — Restrained (= Checked; curbed; forbade; limited; prohibited; restricted; stopped)
  • النَّفۡسَ — Nuf-sa — Self (= n., s., An individual’s inner-most heart, mind or soul)
  • عَنِ — Aa-n…(il) — From (= About; concerning; regarding; relative to)
  • الۡهَوٰى — Ha-waa — Lust (= Acts around sexuality. Caprices. Impure, lower and soul’s evil desires. Tendency to sudden impulsive decisions or changes of mind)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         079:042                                     فَاِنَّ الۡجَـنَّةَ هِىَ الۡمَاۡوٰى ؕ

                 Fa-in-nul-jun-na-ta-hay-yul-mau-waa

                Then surely it is the paradise that is the abode

  • فَ — Fa — Then (= Consequently; as a result; so; then; thus; therefore; yet)
  • اِنَّ — In-na…(ul) — Surely (= Absolutely; certainly; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly indeed; positively; seriously; really; truly; verily)
  • الۡجَـنَّةَ — Jun-naa-ta — The Paradise (= pl., Big groves; gardens; orchards. The ultimate everlasting Garden; the Heavens)
  • هِىَ — Hay-ya…(ul) — That (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to the aforesaid Paradise)
  • الۡمَاۡوٰى — Mau-waa — Abode (= Destination; dwelling; end; final home; goal; resort; resting place)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         079:043                     يَسۡـــَٔلُوۡنَكَ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ اَيَّانَ مُرۡسٰٮهَا ؕ

                 Yus-aloo-na-ka-aa-nis-saa-aa-tay-auy-yaa-na-moor-saa-haa

                They ask you about the Hour, “When would it arrive?”

  • يَسۡـَٔلُونَ — Yus-aloo-na — The ask (= Inquire; interrogate; question; seek info)
  • كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. The addressee of this divine message is initially the Holy Prophet s.a.w and secondarily every Moslem, in fact every human being. See the Note under 002:005)
  • عَنِ — Aa-n…(is) — About (= Concerning; from; regarding; relative to)
  • السَّاعَةِ — Saa-aa-tay — Hour (= Appointed or Fixed Time; Day of Judgment; Time for Final Accounting; Hour of Doom. 2. Not applicable here are meanings Clock or Wrist-watch)
  • اَيَّانَ — Auy-yaa-na — When (= The event, occasion or time)
  • مُرۡسٰ — Moor-saa — Arrival (= 1. Come to pass; come to port; happen; occur; take place 2. Begin; commence; run; start)
  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person. Refers to earlier stated ‘Time’)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         079:044                                         فِيۡمَ اَنۡتَ مِنۡ ذِكۡرٰٮهَا

                Fee-ma-un-ta-min-zik-raa-haa

               Regarding that how can you tell?

  • فِيۡمَ — Fee-ma — Regarding * (= In what concern; reference, regarding; relative to)
  • اَنۡتَ — Un-ta — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. Combining two words, namely اَنۡ andتَ , the translation is ‘You and only You.’ The addressee of this divine message is initially the Holy Prophet s.a.w and secondarily every Moslem, in fact every human being. See the Note under 002:005)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class, category, count, kind or several persons or things)
  • ذِكۡرٰ — Zik-raa — Tell (= Memory; mention; naming; remembrance; remind; talk
  • هَا — Haa — That (= pro., s., f., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid ‘Hour’)

* Note 079:044a. The word فِيۡمَ appears to be a combination of two words. The first word فِىۡ (fee) means ‘in, concerning, in reference, regarding or relative to, or belonging to the category of.’ The second word مَاۤ (maa) means ‘what, whatever, whatsoever, when or whenever.’

The Holy Qor-aan                                         079:045                                              اِلٰى رَبِّكَ مُنۡتَهٰٮهَا ؕ

                Elaa-rub-bay-ka-moon-ta-haa-haa

               With your God is its ultimate answer

  • اِلٰٓى — E-laa — With (= Belonging to; towards)
  • رَبِّ — Rub-bay — God (= The Almighty Allah who fills needs of all creatures;
    Cherisher; Creator; Guardian; Master; Lord Provident. The Only One Who provides all that sustains life. The Ultimate Provider of air, water, food and whatever we and all other creatures need to live and subsist)

  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid ‘Hour’)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         079:046                                  اِنَّمَاۤ اَنۡتَ مُنۡذِرُ مَنۡ يَّخۡشٰٮهَا

                 In-na-maa-un -ta-moon-zay-ro-mun-yukh-shaa-haa

                You certainly are a Warner for anyone who fears it

  • اِنَّمَا — In-na-maa — Certainly (= This phrase consists of two words. The first اِنَّ (inna) means absolutely; doubtlessly; positively; earnestly; certainly; indeed; seriously; really; surely; truly; verily. The second مَاۤ (maa) means ‘all that, what, whatever. whatsoever.’ The two-worded phrase اِنَّمَا (inna-maa) lays great emphasis on the highlighted statement that follows it as ‘absolutely, accurately or positively’)
  • اَنۡتَ — Un-ta — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. Combining two words, namely اَنۡ andتَ , the translation is ‘You and only You.’ The addressee of this divine message is initially the Holy Prophet s.a.w and secondarily every Moslem, in fact every human being. See the Note under 002:005)
  • مُنۡذِرُ — Moon-zay-ro — Warner (= Giver of caution. A/t/a Your duty is to warn them)
  • مَنۡ — Mun — Who (= Anyone; what; whatsoever; whoever; whoso)
  • يَّخۡشٰ — Yukh-shaa — Fears (= Afraid; scared)
  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid ‘Hour’)

The Holy Qor-aan                                        079:047

كَاَنَّهُمۡ يَوۡمَ يَرَوۡنَهَا لَمۡ يَلۡبَثُوۡۤا اِلَّا عَشِيَّةً اَوۡ ضُحٰٮهَا

              Ka-un-na-hoom-yao-ma-ya-rao-na-haa-lum-yul-ba-thoo-il-laa-aa-she-ya-tin-auo-dzho-haa-haa

              The day they see it surely would appear to them like they had not stayed in this life except a night or its one day.

  • كَ — Ka — Like (= Example; identical; resembling; similar; similitude)
  • اَنَّ — Un-na — Surely (= Absolutely; certainly; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly indeed; positively; really; seriously; truly; verily)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — They (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Refers to those asking about the Hour)
  • يَوۡمَ — Yao-ma — Day (= s., A period, term or time that ends; juncture)
  • يَرَوۡنَ — Ya-rao-na — They see (= Behold; come across; face; observe; take notice; watch)
  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person. Refers to earlier stated ‘Time’)
  • لَمۡ — Lum — Not (= Never; no, not at all)
  • يَلۡبَثُوۡۤا — Yul-ba-thoo — Stayed (= Lived; stayed that way; spanned; tarried)
  • اِلَّا — Il-laa — Except (= Apart from; but; besides; excluding; save; unless)
  • عَشِيَّةً — Aa-she-ya-tin — A night (= Period between sunset and sunrise. Also, an evening)
  • اَوۡ — Auo — Or (= Alternatively; in substitution; at the most)
  • ضُحٰ — Dzho-haa — Day (= Brilliantly brightened morning; forenoon; light of the day; brightness of the following morning or forenoon)
  • هَا — Haa — Its (= pro., s., f., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid ‘day’)
