The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                   006:034

 

قَدۡ نَـعۡلَمُ اِنَّهٗ لَيَحۡزُنُكَ الَّذِىۡ يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ‌ فَاِنَّهُمۡ لَا يُكَذِّبُوۡنَكَ وَلٰـكِنَّ الظّٰلِمِيۡنَ بِاٰيٰتِ اللّٰهِ يَجۡحَدُوۡنَ‏  

 

Qud-nau-la-mo-in-na-hoo-la-yah-zoon-kul-la-zee-ya-qoo-loo-na                                          Fa-in-na-hoom-laa-yo-kuz-zay-boo-na-ka                                                                                      Wa-laa-kin-nuz-zaa-lay-me-na-bay-aa-yaa-til-hay-yuj-ha-doo-n

 

We know surely that it certainly grieves you what they say.                                    They really do not deny you                                                                                                      But the wrongdoers fight with the signs of Allah.

 

  • قَدۡ — Qud — Surely (= This word lays emphasis like certainly, definitely. See Note 004:049 and our Commentary titled the “2 Words of Emphasis used together Multiply Effect.”A/t/a, ‘indeed,’ ‘well,’ ‘full well’ and ‘too well’)
  • نَـعۡلَمُ — Nau-la-mo — We know (= v., pres., pl., 1st person. Acquire knowledge. Are aware. Are informed. Have learnt)
  • اِنَّ — In-na — Certainly (= Absolutely; clearly, decidedly; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really; surely; truly; verily)
  • هٗ — Hoo — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. The said matter. A/t/a, ‘what they say (by way of denying Our Messengers)’
  • لَ — La — Certainly (= Absolutely; assuredly; categorically; clearly, definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; positively; really; truly; seriously; sincerely; specifically; surely; verily)
  • يَحۡزُنُ — Yah-zo-no  — Grieves (= v., pres., s., 3rd person, Causes to fear, grieve or worry. Frightens. A/t/a, ‘‘grieves … sorely’ ‘grief … cause’ and ‘the grief which … cause’)
  • كَ — Ka … (ul) — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. The addressee of this divine message is ‘you (O Muhammad s.a.w’. See Note 002:005. A/t/a, ‘you’ and ’thee’)
  • ٱلَّذِي —  Ul-la-zee — He who (= s., m, 3rd person. Refers to those articles, persons, or phenomenon or things in masculine gender)
  • يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ‌ — Ya-qoo-loo-na — They say (= v., pres., pl., m., 3rd person. Announce; broadcast; call; convey; declare; explain; inform; profess; specify; tell. A/t/a, ‘their talk,’ ‘what they say,’ ‘what they say (by way of denying Our Messengers’ and ‘their words’ with a noun is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in a verb in the present tense)
  • فَ  — Fa — Then (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; in conclusion; so; thereafter; therefore; thus, A/t/a, ‘for,’ ‘though’ and ‘yet’)
  • اِنَّ — In-na — Certainly (= Absolutely; clearly, decidedly. See  اِنَّ  above)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — They (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • لَا — Laa — Not (= Naught; neither; never; none; nor; not at all; total negation without exception. This and the prior two words translated as ‘It is not … they’ )
  • يُكَذِّبُوۡنَ –Yo-kuz-zay-boo-na — Deny (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Belie; reject; treat as liars. A/t/a, ‘they reject,’ ‘give … lie,’ ‘they cry lies to,’ ‘accuse of lying,’ ‘they charge … with falsehood,’ ‘they charge with falsehood’  and ‘they are disbelieving’)
  • كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You. See  كَ  above)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • لٰـكِنَّ — Laa-kin-na … (uz) — But (= However; instead; nevertheless; yet)
  • الظّٰلِمِيۡنَ‏  — Zaa-lay-mee-na — Wrongdoers (= n., pl., Bad people. Criminals. Culprits. Doers of harm, hurt or injury. Evildoers. Polytheists. Transgressors. Those who commit, do, practice, repeat or habitually pursue the evil and cause grievous wrongs to others. Unfair. Unjust. Violators. Wicked. A/t/a, ‘wrongdoers’ and ‘Zalimun (polytheists and wrongdoers’)
  • بِ — Bay — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with. A/t/a, ‘in’)
  • اٰيٰتِ — Aa-ya-t(il) — Signs (= n., pl of … An argument, corroboration, indication, insinuation, pointer, portent, sign, suggestion, symbol or token. See Note 002:074. A/t/a, ‘messages’ and ‘revelations’)   
  • اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • يَجۡحَدُوۡنَ —  Yuj-ha-doo-n — They fight (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Fight, oppose, strive, struggle, and try hard in antipathy, antagonism, aversion, dislike and resentment. A/t/a, ‘give the lie to,’ ‘reject,’ ‘flout,’ ‘disbelieve,’ ‘deny,’ ‘contemn’ and ‘they are deliberately rejecting’)

The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                          006:033

 

وَ مَا الۡحَيٰوةُ الدُّنۡيَاۤ اِلَّا لَعِبٌ وَّلَهۡوٌ‌ ؕ وَلَـلدَّارُ الۡاٰخِرَةُ خَيۡرٌ لِّـلَّذِيۡنَ يَتَّقُوۡنَ‌ؕ اَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُوۡنَ

 

Wa-mul-ha-yaa-tood-don-yaa-il-lul-la-aiy-boon-wa-lah-woon                                                Wa-la-daa-rool-aa-khay-ra-tay-khai-roon-lil-la-zee-nut-ta-qoo                                            Aa-fa-laa-tau-qay-loo-n

 

And the present life is nothing but a sport and a pastime                                            And the home of the Hereafter is best for those who pursue piety.                          Why don’t you act wisely?

The quality shown by functions among other of growth and response to stimulation and reproduction by which living organisms are distinguished from dead organisms and inanimate matter. Extensions in living. Peaceful life with safety and security. Any measure to save and safeguard life)
  • ٱلدُّنۡيا — Doon-ya — The present (= Close at hand.  Life … on earth, in the near or short term. The near life, of this world. The near one. The World at hand with its benefits, happiness or pleasures. The Hither, the opposite of the Hereafter or Life after death. A/t/a, ‘of this world,’ of the world,’ ‘this world’s,’ ‘worldly’ and ‘the hither’)
  • اَلَّا — Il-laa — Except (= Apart from; besides; excluding; save; unless A/t/a, ‘nothing but,’ ‘is but’ and ‘but a’)
  • لَعِبٌ — La-aiy-boon … (wa) — Sport (= n., Amusement. Entertainment. Game. Play. Sports event. A/t/a, ‘play,’ ‘pastime,’ ‘sport’ and ‘futile’) 
  • وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • لَهۡوَا۟ — Luh-wa — Pastime (= n., Distraction. Diversion. Pointless pursuit. Worthless work. Any empty, idle, frolicky, futile. otiose, playful, useless, time-wasting, trivial or vain activity. A/t/a, ‘Amusement,’ ‘pastime,’ ‘a sport,’ ‘idle sport,’ ‘play’ and ‘frivolous thing causing diversion (from God)’

  • الۡاٰخِرَةُ — Aa-khay-ra-to — The Hereafter (= n., Ahead. Coming. Ending. Future. Last. Next. Also, the Judgment Day, Resurrection. or Succeeding hour. A/t/a, ‘the Hereafter,’ ‘last’ and ‘life to come’)
  • خَيۡرٌ — Khai-roon — Excellent (= adj., Apex; best; greatest; highest; supreme; superior; the top. Also, comparatively superior or of better, greater or higher value. A/t/a, ‘is best,’ ’is better,’ ‘better is,’ ‘Better far’ and ‘far better’)
  • لِّ — L… (il) — For (= Because of; concerning; due to; for the object, purpose or reason of; intended for; on account of; regarding; relative to; to; towards. A/t/a, ‘for’)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — (I)l-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to those articles, persons, or phenomenon or things in masculine gender)
  • يَتَّقُوۡنَ‌ — Yut-ta-qoo-n — They be pious (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Avoid angering Allah; act piously and righteously; become God-fearing, and righteous; clean inner self; do duty to God; guard against and ward off evil; parlay or pursue piety. قَدۡ خَسِرَ الَّذِيۡنَ كَذَّبُوۡا بِلِقَآءِ اللّٰهِ‌ؕ  حَتّٰٓى اِذَا جَآءَتۡهُمُ السَّاعَةُ بَغۡتَةً قَالُوۡا يٰحَسۡرَتَنَا عَلٰى مَا فَرَّطۡنَا فِيۡهَا ۙ  وَهُمۡ يَحۡمِلُوۡنَ اَوۡزَارَهُمۡ عَلٰى ظُهُوۡرِهِمۡ‌ؕ  اَلَا سَآءَ مَا يَزِرُوۡنَ 

 

Qud  kha-say-ra  ul-la-zee-na  kuz-za-boo  bay  lay-qaa-aiy  il-laa-hay                                    Hut-taa  aiy-zaa  jaa-ut  ho-mo  os-saa-aa-to  baugh-ta-ton                                                       Qaa-loo  yaa  haus-ra-ta  naa  alaa  maa  fur-rut  naa  fee  haa                                                  Wa  hoom  yauh-may-loo-na  auo-zaa-ra  hoom  alaa  za-hoo-ray  him                                  Aa  laa  saa-aa  maa  ya-zay-roo-n

 

Surely lost are those who denied meeting with Allah                                                Until when the Hour came upon them suddenly                                                    They said, “O sadness on us that we ignored all this.”                                           And they will carry their burdens on their backs.                                                           Is it not evil what they carry?

 

The first three (3) words of verses 006:032 and 006:141 are the same

  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to those articles, persons, or phenomenon or things in masculine gender. A/t/a, ‘they who’)
  • كَذَّ بُوۡا — Kuz-za-boo — They denied (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Belied; derided, denounced, disowned, opposed, misrepresented, negated; rejected. A/t/a, ‘cried lies.’ But ‘treat it as a falsehood,’ ‘reject’ and ‘deny’ as a verb in the present tense is no translation of the verb in the past tense that the Holy Qor-aan has used)
  • بِ — Bay — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with. A/t/a, ‘with’ and ‘to (the news)’
  • لِقَآءِ — Lay-qaa-aiy — Meeting (= n., Coming face to face; getting together; visiting. A/t/a, ‘meeting.’ But the verb in ‘they must meet,’ ‘they will ever meet’ and are ‘bound to face’ is no translation of the noun that the Holy Qor-aan has used)
  • اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • حَتّٰى — Hut-ta — Until (= By the end of the period or term; till the time. A/t/a, ‘until,’ ‘so much so,’ ‘so’ [daz, and ‘(they will go om denying it) until.’
  • اِذَا  — Aiy-zaa — When (= At the time or event; call to mind; recall; remember; think of the time, event, occasion or opportunity. Also, behold; consider; ponder over; reflect)
  • جَآءَتۡ — Jaa-ut — Came (= v., past., s., f., 3rd person. Arrived; had come; reached; returned. In a different context the word can also mean achieved, brought, delivered, settled or succeeded. A/t/a, ‘is on,’ ’comes upon,’ ‘cometh,’ ‘overtakes,’ ‘shall  come on’ and ‘will overtake,’ but that verb in the present or future tense is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has used in the past tense)
  • هُمُ — Ho-mo … (os) — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • السَّاعَةُ — Saa-aa-to — The hour (= Appointed or Fixed Time; Day of Judgment; Time for Final Accounting; A/t/a, ‘the hour,’ ‘the Hour (of Resurrection),’ ‘the Hour (signs of death)’ and ‘Hour of Doom’)
  • بَغۡتَةً — Bugh-ta-ton — Suddenly (= All of a sudden; unexpectedly. A/t/a, ‘unawares’  and ‘unaware’)
  • قَالُوۡا — Qaa-loo  — They said (= v., past, pl., m., 3rdperson: All those men announced;        called; declared; told.   • حَسۡرَتَ — Hus-ra-ta — Sadness  (= n., Anguish. Feeling of guilt, shame, regret, remorse or sorrow.  Pain from an unfilled desire. Sadness. A/t/a, ‘Woe unto,’ ‘Woe to us,’ ‘our grief,’ ‘the bitterness of our remorse’ and ‘Alas for us’)
  • نَآ — Naa — Our (= pro., pl., 1st person. Our; Us)
  • عَلٰى — Alaa — On (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; on top of; over; to; upon. A/t/a, ‘for’ and ‘at’)

  • فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Amidst. Among. Contained or inside a duration, event, place, period, person, phenomenon, situation, thing or time. Also, about; concerning; in reference, regarding, relative to. See Note 002:028. A/t/a, ‘of’)
  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to aforesaid matter. A/t/a, ‘this Hour.’  ‘it (the Hour, in our life)’ and ‘in our lifetime’)

  • اَوۡزَارَ — Auo-zaa-ra — Burdens (= n., pl., Burdens; consequence; loads, responsibility. A/t/a, ‘the burdens (of their sins)’
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • عَلٰى — Alaa — On (= Above; for; on; on top of; over; to; upon. See عَلٰى above)
  • ظُهُوۡرِ — Za-hoo-ray — Backs (= n., pl., Back bones; rears; spinal columns)
  • هِمۡ — Him — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • اَلَا — Aa-laa — Is not (= This is a combination of two words. The first is  اَ  which is a question mark and asks. The second is  لَا  which means naught, never, no, none, not at all, nothing. The combination is used to draw attention to something very important. A/t/a, ‘indeed,’ ‘surely,’ ‘Ah’ and ‘Behold’)
  • سَآءَ — Saa-aa — Evil (= adj., Appalling; awful; bad; dire; dreadful; ghastly; horrific; immoral; malevolent; shocking; terrible; unpleasant; wicked; worst possible. A/t/a, evil and ’How evil is the burden’)
  • مَا  — Maa — What (= All that, whatever, whatsoever or whenever. A/t/a, ‘The burdens,’ ‘the burden’ and ‘that which’)
  • يَزِرُوۡنَ — Ya-zay-roo-n — They carry (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Bear; care; move; take. A/t/a, ‘burdens they will be,’ ‘they bear,’ ‘they shall bear’ and ‘burdens that they will bear’)

وَلَوۡ تَرٰٓى اِذۡ وُقِفُوۡا عَلٰى رَبِّهِمۡ‌ ؕ  قَالَ اَلَـيۡسَ هٰذَا بِالۡحَـقِّ‌ ؕ  قَالُوۡا بَلٰى وَرَبِّنَا‌ ؕ  قَالَ فَذُوۡقُوا الۡعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنۡتُمۡ تَكۡفُرُوۡنَ

 

Wa-lao-ta-raa-iz-wo-qay-foo-alaa-rub-bay-him                                                                            Qaa-la-aa-lai-sa-haa-zaa-bil-hu-qay                                                                                                Qaa-loo-ba-laa-wa-rub-bay-naa                                                                                                      Qaa-la-fa-zoo-qool-azaa-ba-bay-ma                                                                                         Koon-toom-tuk-fo-roo-n

 

And if you see them when stopped before their Lord.                                                    He (The Almighty God) said, “Is this not the Truth.”                                                    They (The Disbelievers) said, “Indeed, and we swear, Our God.”                          He (The Almighty God) said, “Then taste the punishment because of                    What you have been disbelieving.”

 

The sequence of next six (6) word is repeated in verses 006:028 and 006:031

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but;  also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • لَوۡ — Lao — If (= In case; under the circumstances; wish; would. A/t/a, ‘if’)
  • تَرٰى — Ta-raa — You see (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Look; observe; ponder; view;  watch; witness. A/t/a, ‘you could see,’ ‘you could but see,’ ‘thou couldst see,’ ‘thou couldst but see’ and ‘thou couldst only see’)

  • عَلٰى — Aa-la … (un) — On (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; on top of; over; to; upon. A/t/a, ‘with’ and ‘in front of’)
  • رَبِّ — Rub-bay– The Almighty God (= The Almighty Allah who fills all needs of all His creatures; Creator; Master; One Who Sustain; The Lord provident; The Ultimate Provider of Air, water, food and whatever we need to live and subsist)
  • هِمۡ — Him — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • قَا لَ — Qaa-la — He said (= v., past, s., m., 3rd person. Asked; called; enquired; told;  informed; queried; questioned. A/t/a, ‘He would ask.’ But ‘He will say’ and ‘(He) will say’ in the future tense is no translation of the original text in the past tense)
  • اَ — Aa — Is (= Question mark like  Are, Can, Have, Shell or Will?)
  • لَيۡسَ — Lai-sa — Not (= Absolute denial; never; not at all; total negation)
  • هٰذَا — Has-zaa — This (= This particularly pointed out; present right here; what is in front of you. A/t/a, ‘this,’ ‘being raised up again,’ ‘this second life,’ ‘this (Resurrection)’ and ‘this (Resurrection and the taking of the accounts)’

  • الۡحَـقِّ — Huq-qay — The Truth (= n., Appropriate; equitable; exactness; fair; fairness; just; justification; justified conduct; preciseness; proper; right; reasonableness; suitable. A/t/a, ‘The truth,’ ‘the Truth,’ ‘true,’ ‘a reality’ and ‘real’)
  • قَالُوۡا — Qaa-loo — They said (= v., past, pl., m., 3rdperson: All those men announced;       called; declared; told.   • وَ — Wa — And (= The وَ  vaao when used with the Almighty God’s name is tantamount to taking oath with His name; solemn declaration or calling as a witness. Normally a Conj.,  See وَ  above. A/t/a, ‘by’)
  • رَبِّ — Rub-bay — God (= The Almighty Allah. See  رَبِّ  above)

○ وَقَالُوٓاْ إِنۡ هِىَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَبۡعُوثِينَ

 

Wa-qaa-loo-in-hay-ya-il-laa-ha-yaa-to-nud-doon-ya                                                                  Wa-maa-nah-no-bay-mub-oo-thay-nee-n

 

And they said, “Surely this here is nothing except our present life                      And we are not those resurrected.”

○ بَلۡ بَدَا لَهُمۡ مَّا كَانُوۡا يُخۡفُوۡنَ مِنۡ قَبۡلُ‌ؕ  وَلَوۡ رُدُّوۡا لَعَادُوۡا لِمَا نُهُوۡا عَنۡهُ  وَاِنَّهُمۡ لَـكٰذِبُوۡنَ

 

Bul-ba-daa-la-hoom-maa-kaa-noo-yookh-foo-na-min-qub-lo                                              Wa-lao-roo-do-la-aa-do-lay-maa-no-hoo-un-ho                                                                        Wa-in-na-hoom-la-kaa-zay-boo-n

 

The fact that manifested for them is from what they used to hide before.        And if returned, surely they would repeat from what they were stopped.            And they certainly are the liars.

○ وَلَوۡ تَرَىٰٓ إِذۡ وُقِفُواْ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ فَقَالُواْ يَـٰلَيۡتَنَا نُرَدُّ وَلَا نُكَذِّبَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ رَبِّنَا وَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ

 

Wa-lao-ta-raa-iz-wo-qay-foo-aa-lun-naa-ray-fa-qaa-loo                                                        Yaa-lai-ta-naa-no-rud-do                                                                                                                Wa-laa-no-kuz-zay-bo-bay-aa-yaa-tay-rub-bay-naa                                                                  Wa-na-koo-num-may-nul-moe-may-nee-n

 

And if you see when they stopped on the Fire and said,                                      “How sad for us. Wish we were returned                                                                            And not belie the Signs of our God                                                                                  And would be among the believers.”

Wa-hoom-yaun-hao-na-un-ho-wa-yaun-aao-na-un-ho-wa-in                                                  Yoh-lay-koo-na-il-laa-un-fo-sa-hoom-wa-maa-yaush-o-roo-n

 

And they stop others from it and themselves stay away from it.  And surely        They destroy none except themselves and they don’t realize it.

وَمِنۡهُمۡ مَّنۡ يَّسۡتَمِعُ اِلَيۡكَ‌‌ ۚ  وَجَعَلۡنَا عَلٰى قُلُوۡبِهِمۡ اَكِنَّةً اَنۡ يَّفۡقَهُوۡهُ وَفِىۡۤ اٰذَانِهِمۡ وَقۡرًا ‌ؕ  وَاِنۡ يَّرَوۡا كُلَّ اٰيَةٍ لَّا يُؤۡمِنُوۡا بِهَا‌ ؕ حَتّٰۤى اِذَا جَآءُوۡكَ يُجَادِلُوۡنَكَ يَقُوۡلُ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡۤا اِنۡ هٰذَاۤ اِلَّاۤ اَسَاطِيۡرُ الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَ

 

Wa-min-hoom-mun-yus-ta-may-o-elai-ka                                                                                        Wa-ja-ul-naa-alaa-qo-loo-bay-him                                                                                                    Aa-kin-na-ton-un-yuf-qua-hoo-ho                                                                                                      Wa-fee-aa-zaa-nay-him-wuq-raa

Wa-in-ya-rao-kool-la-aa-ya-tin-laa-yoe-may-noo-bay-haa                                                        Hut-taa-ezaa-jaa-oo-ka-yo-jaa-day-lo-na-ka                                                                                Ya-qoo-lool-la-zee-na-ka-fa-roo                                                                                                        In-haa-zaa-il-laa-aa-saa-tee-rool-uw-wa-lee-n

 

And from them is he who acts hearing to you                                                                  And we have placed on their hearts                                                                                      A blockage against that they understand it                                                                        And a deafness in their ears.

And even if they see all signs, they won’t believe it.                                                        Till when they have come to you arguing,                                                                            They — who had disbelieved — say,                                                                                      “Surely all this is nothing but the tales of those gone by.”

  • نَآ — Naa — We (= pro., pl., 1st person. Our; Us. Used with God’s name this is the authoritative way a higher-up talks)
  • عَلٰى — Alaa — On (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; on top of; over; to; upon)
  • قُلُوۡبِ  — Qo-loo-bay — Hearts (= n., pl., 1. The central organ inside the chest of all living  creatures that keeps up the supply of blood to every tissue by pumping blood constantly through veins and controls all body parts and directs all their functions. 2. Mind; inner soul; ability to think, choose, decide and act in an appropriate manner both physically and spiritually; understanding. A/t/a, ‘hearts (due to their own hard-heartedness)’
  • هِمۡ — Him — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • اَكِنَّةً — Aa-kin-na-ton — Blockage (= n., s., Blockade; cover; curtain; hurdle; obstruction; stoppage. A/t/a, ‘veils’ and ‘covering’)

  • يَّفۡقَهُوۡ — Yuf-qa-hoo — Understand (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Acknowledge; comprehend A/t/a, ‘understand,’  which prevent them understanding,’ ‘lest they  understand your words’ and ‘they understand … not’)
  • هُ — Ho — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to ‘what thou sayest’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Amidst. Among. Contained or inside a duration, event, place, period, person, phenomenon, situation, thing or time. See Note 002:028)
  • اٰذَانِ — Aa-zaa-nay — Ears (= n., pl., The organ whereby one hears. A/t/a, ‘ears’ and ‘ears (to listen to the truth’)

  • وَقۡرًا — Wuq-raa — Deafness (= n., Inability to hear. A/t/a, ‘deafness,’ ‘heaviness’ and ‘made them hard of hearing’)

  • يَّرَوۡا — Ya-rao — See (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Observe; notice; witness. A/t/a, ‘saw’ and ‘they were to witness’ in the past tense (showing that it was an event that had occurred in the past) is no translation of the Holy Qor-aan which has described the event in the present tense that occurs now and which will as a rule of universal application keep on occurring in future)
  • كُلَّ — Kool-la — All (= n., All; altogether; everyone; everything without any exception; in every manner; total; very much; whole. Adv., Entirely; totally; wholly; exceedingly; greatly; highly A/t/a, ‘every one of,’ ‘every,’ ‘every kind of,’ ‘every one of’ and ‘any … whatever’)
  • اٰيَةٍ — Aa-ya-tin  — Signs (= n., pl of … An argument, corroboration, indication, insinuation, pointer, portent, sign, suggestion, symbol or token. See Note 002:074) A/t/a, ‘token,’ ‘sign,’ ‘sign (of Ours),’  ‘Our signs’ and ‘the Ayah (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.’)

  • حَتّٰى — Hut-ta — Till (= By the end of the period or term; till the time. A/t/a, ‘In so much that,’ ‘so much so that,’ ‘to the point that,’ ‘even when’ and ‘(their hard-heartedness has reached) such an extent that’)

  • كَفَرُوۡۤا — Ka-fa-roo — They disbelieved (= v., past, pl., 3rd person. Denied, refused and rejected the Faith and belief in Allah, the Holy Qor-aan, Islam and become Moslem. A/t/a, ‘The Unbelievers’ and ‘disbelievers’  which are nouns, and ‘disbelieve’ which is a verb in the present tense are no translations of the verb in the past tense that the Holy Qor-aan has used)

اُنْظُرۡ كَيۡفَ كَذَبُوۡا عَلٰٓى اَنۡفُسِهِمۡ‌ وَضَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ مَّا كَانُوۡا يَفۡتَرُوۡنَ

 

Oon-zoor-kai-fa-kuz-za-boo-alaa-un-fo-say-him-wa                                                                    Dzul-la-un-hoom-maa-kaa-noo-yuf-ta-roo-n

 

Look how they lied against themselves and                                                                    All they had been concocting was lost from them.

 

  • اُنْظُرۡ —  Oon-zoor — You look (= v., pres., s., 2nd person. Check out; find; get to view; look at; look out; observe; see; take notice; understand; view; watch for. A/t/a, ‘See,’ ‘Behold!,’ ‘Observe’ and ‘Look!’)

Denied; derided, denounced, disowned, opposed, misrepresented, negated; rejected. A/t/a, ‘they lie,’ ‘they shall lie’  and ‘they will lie’ but that in the present or future tense is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has described in the past tense)
  • عَلٰى — Alaa — Against (= Above; against; before;   during; for; on; on top of; over; to; upon)
  • اَنۡفُسِ — Un-fo-say — Selves (= n., pl., Hearts; individuals; minds; own sake; persons;  souls; themselves)
  • هِمۡ‌ — Him — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs. A/t/a, ‘their own selves,’ ‘themselves’ and ‘own’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet. A/t/a, ‘But’)
  • ضَلَّ  — Dzul-la — Was lost (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Blundered; misguided; mistaken; strayed; turned in wrong direction or road. Also, fell flat and wasted. A/t/a, ‘hath failed them,’ ‘has failed’ and ‘has gone astray.’ But ‘forgetting in the present tense, or ‘the (lie) … will leave them in the lurch,’ ‘shall fail,’ ‘the deities … will fail’ and ‘will disappear’  in the future tense, are no translations of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • عَنۡ — Un — From (= About; concerning; regarding; relative to)
  • هُمۡ‌ —  Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • مَاۤ  — Maa — All that (= What; whatever; whatsoever; at such time; when. A/t/a, ‘all that,’ ‘that which.’ ‘the thing which,’ ‘those (associate-gods) which’  and ‘the (lie) which’)
  • كَانُوۡۤا — Kaa-noo — Had been (= v., past., s., m., 3rd person., Continued doing; used to; went on; were doing. Words has or had always been indicate endless continuity from the past to the present and leading into the future. A/t/a, ‘they used to and ‘is’)
  • يَفۡتَرُونَ — Yuf-ta-roon — They concocting (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Padding up lies to appear true. This word shows people pursuing for a bad result and not for any good outcome; see details in 003:025.  A/t/a, ‘fabricate’ and ‘forge.’ But ‘they invented,’ ‘they forged,’ ‘they devised,’ ‘they fabricated,’ ‘of their own invention’ and ‘they invented’ in the the past tense is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the present tense)
