The Holy Qor-aan       004:118

 

  اِنۡ يَّدۡعُوۡنَ مِنۡ دُوۡنِهٖۤ اِلَّاۤ اِنٰـثًـا‌ ۚ   وَاِنۡ يَّدۡعُوۡنَ اِلَّا شَيۡـطٰنًا مَّرِيۡدًا  ۙ  

 

In-yud-oo-na-min-do-nay-he-il-laa-aiy-naa-thaa                                                                      Wa-in-yud-oo-na-il-laa-shai-taa-num-re-daa

 

Surely they call on other than Him none except substitutes                                And surely they call on none except Satan, the Rejected

  • يَدۡعُونَ — Yud-oo-na — They call (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Address; beg; beseech; call on or upon; draw attention; invite; invoke; pray. The word in different contexts also means allure; appeal; attract; beckon; charm; exhort; guide; lure; summon; tempt; urge; usher. A/t/a, ‘(The Pagans) leaving Him call upon,’ ‘(Pagans) invoke,’  ‘The pagans pray,’ ‘invoke,’ ‘Whatever they (- the polytheists) call on’ and They (all those who worship others than Allah) invoke’)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several)
  • دُوۡنِ — Do-nay — Other than (= Apart from; besides; except; excluding; exclusive of; in preference to; over and beyond; save; to the exclusion of the rest of. A/t/a, ‘in … stead’)
  • هٖ — He — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the Almighty God)
  • اِلَّا — Il-laa — None except (= But; beside; except; excluding; save; unless. A/t/a, ‘none but’)
  • اِنٰـثًـا‌ — Aiy-naa-thaa — Substitutes (= n., Literally women but implying things which are of inferior quality, secondary importance or substitutes. A/t/a, ‘female deities, ‘female divines,’ ‘females,’ ‘goddesses,’ ‘lifeless objects (and false deities)’ and ‘lifeless objects)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but;  also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • اِنۡ — In — Surely (= Absolutely; certainly; definitely; positively; verily. A/t/a, ‘Infect’)

The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                               004:117

 

 اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يَغۡفِرُ اَنۡ يُّشۡرَكَ بِهٖ وَيَغۡفِرُ مَا دُوۡنَ ذٰ لِكَ لِمَنۡ يَّشَآءُ‌ ۚ وَمَنۡ يُّشۡرِكۡ بِاللّٰهِ فَقَدۡ ضَلَّ ضَلٰلًاۢ بَعِيۡدًا

 

In-nul-laa-ha-laa-yugh-fay-ro-un-toosh-rik-bay-he                                                                Wa-yugh-fay-ro-maa-do-na-za-lay-ka-lay-mun-ya-shaa-o                                                  Wa-mun-yoosh-rik-bil-laa-hay                                                                                                       Fa-qud-dzul-la-dza-le-lun-ba-ee-daa

 

Allah certainly does not forgive that any partner is set up with Him                    And He forgives all that is other than that for anyone He chooses                    And whoever sets up partner with Allah                                                                          Has indeed strayed a straying gone very far

This verse – except for its last three (3) words – is repeated as 004:049

Also, Grants begging, beseeching, having good desires, imploring, praying, requesting, seeking and trying to be excused, forgiven and granted reprieve. A/t/a, ‘will forgive,’ ‘forgiveth’ and ‘forgive (unless the sinner turns to Him with repentance’)

  • يُّشۡرَكَ — Yoosh-ra-ka — Is set up (= v., pres., pass., s., 3rd person. Be ascribed or associated. See Note 004:037. A/t/a, ‘partners should be set up,’ ‘any partner be associated,’ ‘a partner should be ascribed’ and ‘a partner be associated.’  But ‘the ascribing of partners’ and ‘those who serve other gods besides Him’ are translations as a verb in the active voice of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated His this rule as a verb in the passive voice)

A/t/a, ‘strayed,’ ‘Hath strayed,’ ‘gone astray’ and ‘hath wandered.’ But the translation ‘goes … astray’ in the present tense is                not of what the Holy Qor-aan stated in the past tense)

 وَمَنۡ يُّشَاقِقِ الرَّسُوۡلَ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَـهُ الۡهُدٰى وَ يَـتَّبِعۡ غَيۡرَ سَبِيۡلِ الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ نُوَلِّهٖ مَا تَوَلّٰى وَنُصۡلِهٖ جَهَـنَّمَ‌  ؕ وَسَآءَتۡ مَصِيۡرًا ‏   

 

Wa-mun-yo-shaa-qay-qir-ra-soo-la                                                                                            Min-bau-day-maa-ta-buy-yun-na-la-hool-ho-daa                                                                    Wa-yut-ta-bay-ghai-ra-sa-be-lil-moe-may-ne-na                                                                      No-wul-lay-he-ma-ta-wul-laa-wa-noos-lay-he-ja-hun-na-ma                                                    Wa-saa-ut-ma-se-raa

 

And one who opposes the Messenger                                                                            After what became distinct to him as the guidance                                                        And follows other than the believers’ way                                                                          We turn him towards what he turns and burn him in Hell.                                      And that’s a bad place to return.

Phrase Lil-laa-hay-maa … meaning For Allah is ….

 

لِلّٰهِ مَا فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَمَا فِى الۡاَرۡضِ‌

Lil-laa-hay-maa-fis-sa-maa-waa-tay-wa-maa-fil-ur-dzay

For Allah is all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth.

 

The Holy Qor-aan has repeated the phrase لِلّٰهِ مَا فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَمَا فِى الۡاَرۡضِ‌ several times in different places and in different contexts. It consists of nine (9) words. It praises Allah as the Creator of the Heaven and Earth. Its word-by-word translation is as following.

  • لِ — L … (il) — For (= Belonging to; for the benefit, person, purpose or reason)
  • اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — All that (= What; whatever; whatsoever)
  • فِى — F … (is) — In (= About; amidst, among, inside a duration, time, place, period, thing or situation. Also, concerning; regarding, relative to or in reference. See Note 002:028)
  • السَّمٰوٰتِ — Sa-maa-waa-tay — The heavens (= n., pl., All above ground or earth; clouds; firmament; heavens; rain; skies; universe. Also, knowledge of astronomical objects in space)
  • وَ — Wa — And  (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — All that (= What; whatever; whatsoever)
  • فِى — F… (il) —  In (= About, inside a time, place or thing. See فِىۡ above)
  • الۡاَرۡضِ — Ul-ur-dzay — Earth (= n., s., Area; country; earth; ground; land; territory. Also, life on earth, nation; people or society in general)

 

The Holy Qor-aan has repeated this phrase or its basic concept in the following places.

  • 002:285 ” And Allah will take account of what is in your heart whether you reveal or conceal it
  • 003:110 ” And all things eventually return to Allah
  • 003:130 ” He forgives whoever He pleases but punishes of the wrongdoers whoever He pleases

  • 004:127 ” And Allah encompasses all things
  • 004:132 ” And We certainly have advised those before you who were given the scripture

  لَا خَيۡرَ فِىۡ كَثِيۡرٍ مِّنۡ نَّجۡوٰٮهُمۡ اِلَّا مَنۡ اَمَرَ بِصَدَقَةٍ اَوۡ مَعۡرُوۡفٍ اَوۡ اِصۡلَاحٍۢ بَيۡنَ النَّاسِ‌ ؕ وَمَن يَّفۡعَلۡ ذٰ لِكَ ابۡتِغَآءَ مَرۡضَاتِ اللّٰهِ فَسَوۡفَ نُـؤۡتِيۡهِ اَجۡرًا عَظِيۡمًا‏

 

Laa-khai-roon-fee-ka-thee-rim-min-nuj-waa-hoom                                                                      Il-laa-mun-aa-ma-ra-bay-sa-da-qa-tin-auo                                                                                Mau-roo-fin-auo-iss-laa-ho-bai-nun-naa-s                                                                                  Wa-mun-yuf-ul-zaa-lay-kub-tay-ghaa-aa-mur-dzaa-til-laa-hay                                             Fa-sao-fa-noe-te-hay-uj-run-aa-ze-maa

 

No good is in most of their counsel                                                                                    Except one who recommended a charity or                                                          Appropriateness or improvement among people                                                      And he who does that seeking the pleasure of Allah                                                Then soon We will give him a great reward

  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Those, them, they men; their)
  • اِلَّا — Il-laa — Except  (= Apart from; but; besides; excluding; save; unless. A/y/a, ‘but if,’  ‘except (in) him’ and  ‘But (good lies only in the secret deliberations of’)
  • مَنۡ — Mun — One who (= Anyone; whoever; whom; whomever; whoso. A/t/a, ‘the conferences of such as’)
  • اَمَرَ — Aa-ma-ra — Recommended (= v., past., s., m., 3rd person. Decreed; dictated; directed; instructed; laid down; mandated; ordained; ordered; taught. See Note 002:211. In some contexts, this word means bid, enjoined, exhorted, recommended or urged. Doing the best, the good and the right.  3. Dealing diligently, equitably, fairly, justly, honestly, properly and rightly to promote, protect, safeguard, set right, reconcile and do good work. A/t/a, ‘conciliation,’ ‘reconciliation,’ ‘peace-making,’ ‘making of peace,’ ‘making  peace,’ ‘public peace,’ ‘peace’ and ‘amending matters’)
  • بَيۡنَ — Bai-na..(un) — Among (= Ahead, facing or in front of; among; between; betwixt)
  • النَّاسِ — Un-naa-say — The people (= n., Factions; folks; mankind; group of men, nations or tribes. Human beings. A/t/a, ‘public’ and ‘the people’)

  وَلَوۡلَا فَضۡلُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيۡكَ وَرَحۡمَتُهٗ لَهَمَّتۡ طَّآٮِٕفَةٌ مِّنۡهُمۡ اَنۡ يُّضِلُّوۡكَ ؕ  وَمَا يُضِلُّوۡنَ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡفُسَهُمۡ‌ وَمَا يَضُرُّوۡنَكَ مِنۡ شَىۡءٍ ؕ وَاَنۡزَلَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيۡكَ الۡكِتٰبَ وَالۡحِكۡمَةَ وَعَلَّمَكَ مَا لَمۡ تَكُنۡ تَعۡلَمُ ؕ  وَكَانَ فَضۡلُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيۡكَ عَظِيۡمًا

 

Wa-lao-la-fudz-lool-laa-hay-alai-ka-wa-rah-ma-to-hoo                                                              La-hum-mut-taa-aiy-fa-toon-min-hoom-un-yo-dzil-loo-ka

Wa-maa-yo-dzil-loo-na-il-laa-un-fo-sa-hoom                                                                                Wa-maa-ya-dzoor-roo-na-ka-min-shai-in

Wa-un-za-laul-laa-ho-alai-kul-kay-taa-ba-wul-hik-ma-ta                                                      Wa-ul-la-ma-ka-maa-lum-ta-koon-tau-lum

Wa-kaa-na-fudz-lool-laa-ha-alai-ka-azee-maa

 

And if the blessing of Allah and His mercy were not on you                                    Surely a group among them had decided that they mislead you.

And they do not mislead except themselves                                                                And they do not hurt you in anything at all

And He entrusted you the Book and the Wisdom                                                      And He taught you what you did not know before

And the blessing of Allah has always been upon you

  وَمَنۡ يَّكۡسِبۡ خَطِيۡٓـــَٔةً اَوۡ اِثۡمًا ثُمَّ يَرۡمِ بِهٖ بَرِيۡٓــًٔـا فَقَدِ احۡتَمَلَ بُهۡتَانًا وَّاِثۡمًا مُّبِيۡنًا ‏

 

Wa-mun-yuk-sib-kha-te-aa-ton-auo-ith-mun                                                                                  Thoom-ma-yur-may-bay-he-ba-re-yun-fa-qa-daih-ta-ma-la                                                      Boh-taa-nun-wa-ith-mun-mo-be-naa

 

Whoever commits a mistake or a sin                                                                                    Then passes on its blame on an innocent person has indeed                                      Loaded himself with a fabrication and an obvious sin

And whoever commits a crime surely does it against himself                                    And Allah has always been the All-Knowing, All-Wise

 وَ مَنۡ يَّعۡمَلۡ سُوۡٓءًا اَوۡ يَظۡلِمۡ نَفۡسَهٗ ثُمَّ يَسۡتَغۡفِرِ اللّٰهَ يَجِدِ اللّٰهَ غَفُوۡرًا رَّحِيۡمًا

 

Wa-mun-yau-mul-soo-un-auo-yuz-lim-nuf-sa-hoo                                                                  Thoom-ma-yus-tugh-fa-ril-laa-ha                                                                                                    Ya-jay-dul-laa-ha-gha-foo-rur-ra-he-,aa

 

And whoever does an evil or wrongs himself                                                                    Then asks forgiveness of Allah                                                                                          Finds Allah Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

  • رَّحِيۡمًا‌ — Ra-hee-maa — Most Merciful (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most, and highlights that none more than Him shows mercy again and again, continually, incessantly and indefinitely like endlessly and perpetually incoming waves from the oceans. Merciful Forever. Translators have expressed the superlative of God’s attributes with words like All, Ever, Forever or Most. One example is this attribute that has been translated as ‘Merciful,’ ‘All-Merciful,’ Ever Merciful’ and ‘Most Merciful’)

The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                    004:110

 

  هٰۤاَنۡتُمۡ هٰٓؤُلَۤاءِ جَادَلۡـتُمۡ عَنۡهُمۡ فِى الۡحَيٰوةِ الدُّنۡيَا فَمَنۡ يُّجَادِلُ اللّٰهَ عَنۡهُمۡ يَوۡمَ الۡقِيٰمَةِ اَمۡ مَّنۡ يَّكُوۡنُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَكِيۡلًا

 

Haa-un-toom-haa-o-laa-aiy                                                                                                              Jaa-dul-toom-un-hoom-fil-ha-yaa-tid-doon-ya                                                                              Fa-mun-yo-jaa-day-lool-laa-ha-un-hoom-yao-mul-qay-yaa-ma-tay                                      Um-mun-ya-koo-no-alai-him-va-kee-la

 

Listen! surely you all here                                                                                                    Disputed for them in the present life                                                                                    But who will argue for them on the Judgment Day                                                          Or who would have been the watch for them

 

  • هٰۤ — Haa — Listen (= Behold; hearken; hey; hi; indeed; pay attention. A/t/a, ‘Ah!,’ ‘Lo!’ and ‘yes’)
  • اَنۡ — Un — Surely (= Absolutely; certainly; decidedly; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really; seriously; truly; verily)
  • تُمۡ — Toom — You all (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You. A/t/a, ‘ye are’)
  • هٰٓؤُلَآءِ — Haa-o-laa-aiy — Here (= pl., All these. Refers to the addressees. A/t/a, ‘these are the sort Of men,’ ‘are they who’ and ‘those who’)
  • جَا دَ لۡ — Jaa-dul — Disputed (= v., past., 3rd person. Contended. Contested. Disputed. Fought. Wrangled. Also, gave lame excuses, offered nonsensical justifications, proffered senseless reasons; screamed meaningless arguments and useless shouts.  A/t/a, ‘pleaded’ and ‘have argued.’ However, ‘contend,’ ‘may contend,’ ‘may plead’ and ‘plead’ have translated as a verb in the present tense what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • تُمۡ — Toom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You. A/t/a, ‘Ye’)
  • عَنۡ — Un  — For (= About; concerning; for; from; regarding; relative to. A/t/a, ‘on whose behalf,’ ‘on their behalf’ and ‘for’)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Refers to aforesaid people)
  • فِى — F…(il) — In (= In; inside a duration, event, time, place, period or thing. Also, concerning; in reference; regarding; relative to)
  • لۡحَيٰوةِ — Ha-yaa-t(id) — Life (= n., Extension in the living; peaceful life with security; safeguarding of life; saving of life; the quality shown by functions among other things of growth and response to stimulation and reproduction by which living organisms are distinguished from dead organisms and inanimate matter)
  • ٱلدُّنۡيا — Doon-ya — The present (= Close at hand. On earth, of near or short term. The near one. This world.  The World at hand with its benefits, happiness or pleasures. The Hither, that is the opposite of the Hereafter or Life after death. A/t/a, ‘the world’)
  • فَ — Fa — But (= After all this; but ; consequently; finally; hence; however; so; then; thereafter; therefore; thus)
  • مَنۡ — Mun — Who (= Anyone; whoever; whom; whomever; whoso)
  • يُّجَادِلُ — Yo-jaa-day-lo — Will argue (= v., pres., s., m., 3rd person. Contend; contest; fight. A/t/a, ‘contend’ and ‘plead.’ See جَا دَ لۡ  above)
  • ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • عَنۡ — Un — For (= About; concerning; for; from; regarding; relative to. A/t/a, ‘on behalf of,’ ‘on … behalf’ and ‘for’)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Refers to aforesaid people)
  • يَوۡم — Yao-m…(ul) — Day (= s., A period, term or time that ends; juncture)
  • الۡقِيٰمَةِ‌ — Qay-yaa-ma-tay — Judgment (= Reckoning; Resurrection; Ultimate settlement)
  •  اَمۡ — U m — Or (= Alternatively; else)
  • مَّنۡ — Mun — Who (= Anyone; whoever; whom; whomever; whoso)
  • يَّكُوۡنُ — Ya-koo-no — Will have been (= v., pres., s., m., 3rd person., Continued to have been. Indicates an act’s continuity from the past to the present and leading into the future. A/t/a, ‘will’ and ‘will be’)
  • عَلَيۡ — Alai — For (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; on top of; over; to; upon)
  • هِمۡ — Him — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Those, them, they men; their)
  • وَكِيۡلًا — Va-kee-laa — Watch (= n., Controller; guardian; in-charge;  representative; speaker on behalf of. A/t/a, ‘who will have charge of … affairs,’ ‘protector,’ ‘a disposer of their affairs’ and ‘defender.’ But ‘carry through their affairs’ is a translation as a verb of what the Holy Qor-aan has described in a noun)
