The Holy Qor-aan 004:082
وَيَقُوۡلُوۡنَ طَاعَةٌ فَاِذَا بَرَزُوۡا مِنۡ عِنۡدِكَ بَيَّتَ طَآٮِٕفَةٌ مِّنۡهُمۡ غَيۡرَ الَّذِىۡ تَقُوۡلُ ؕ وَاللّٰهُ يَكۡتُبُ مَا يُبَيِّتُوۡنَ ۚ فَاَعۡرِضۡ عَنۡهُمۡ وَتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَى اللّٰهِ ؕ وَكَفٰى بِاللّٰهِ وَكِيۡلًا
Wa-ya-qoo-loo-na-taa-aa-toon Fa-ezaa-ba-ra-zoo-min-in-day-ka Buy-ya-ta-taa-aiy-fa-toon-min-hoom Ghai-rul-la-zee-ta-qoo-lo Wul-laa-ho-yuk-to-bo-maa-yo-buy-yay-too-na Fa-au-ridz-un-hoom-wa-ta-wuk-kul-alul-laa-hay Wa-ka-faa-bil-laa-ha-va-kee-laa
They say, “Obedience is our goal.” Then when they went out from your presence A group from among them spent the night Doing other than what you preach. And Allah records how they spend night(s). So, turn away from them and trust on Allah. And Allah has always sufficed as a real Guardian.
- وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
- يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ — Ya-qoo-loo-na — They say (= v., pres, pl, m, 3rd person. Announce; assert; call; broadcast; convey; declare; explain; elaborate; inform; mutter; preach; profess; specify; state; tell; utter. A/t/a, ‘They have’ and ‘they (- the hypocrites)’
- طَاعَةٌ — Taa-aa-toon — Obedience (= n., Carrying on or following as commanded, directed, instructed, mandated or ordered. A/t/a, “Obedience” On their lips,’ ‘Obedience is our guiding principle,’ ‘Ours is but to obey,’ ‘(we stand for) obedience,’ ‘We are obedient,’ ‘They promise to obey you’ and ‘We obey’)
- فَ — Fa — Then (= Hence; so; thus; therefore. A/t/a, ‘but’)
- اِذَا — Ezaa — When (= At the time or event; now that)
- بَرَزُوۡا — Ba-ra-zoo —They went out (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Exited; gone forth; have left; issued forth; made out. A/t/a, ‘go out,’ ‘go forth,’ ‘sally forth,’ ‘depart’ and ‘leave’ but that translation as a verb in the present tense is contrary to what the Holy Qor-aan has stated as a verb in the past tense)
- مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several)
- عِنۡدِ– In-day — From (= Close at hand; from; in; in close proximity of; within the presence, precincts, seeing or sight of. A/t/a, ‘presence’ )
- كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. The addressee of this divine message is initially the Holy Prophet s.a.w)
- بَيَّتَ — Buy-ya-ta — Spent the night (= v., past., f., 3rd person. Did; were engaged; followed; used the night time. A/t/a, ‘plan by the night,’ ‘spends the night scheming,’ ‘spend the night scheming,’ ‘spend the night in planning,’ ‘spends all night planning,’ ‘plot in secret’ and ‘meditate all night on’ but that translation as a verb in the present tense is contrary to what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
- طَّآٮِٕفَةٌ — Taa-aiy-fa-toon — Group (= n., f gender. Assembly; band; bunch; crowd; faction; gathering; group; mass; part; party; section; some of; throng. A/t/a, ‘a number’)
- مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several. A/t/a, ‘of’)
- هُمۡ — Hoom — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Refers to aforesaid people)
- غَيۡرَ — Ghai-ra…(ul) — Other than (= Besides; else; excluding; not; other than; out of; prohibiting; without. A/t/a, ‘otherwise than,’ ‘against,’ ‘other than,’ ‘contrary to,’ ‘On things very different from’ and ‘otherwise than that’)
- الَّذِىۡ — La-zee — He who (= s., m., 3rd person. what thing; which person)
- تَقُوۡلُ — Ta-qoo-lo — You preach (= v., pres, s., 2nd person. Announce; assert; convey; declare; state; profess; teach; say; tell. See تَقُوۡلُ above. A/t/a, ‘sayest,’ ‘thou tellest them’ and ‘thou hast said.’ But ‘you bade’ translation in the past tense is contrary to what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the present tense)
- وَ — Wa…(ul) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ above)
- اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
- يَكۡتُبُ — Yuk-to-bo — Records (= v., pres., m.,s., 3rd person. Preserves; records; saves; writes. A/t/a, ‘recordeth,’ ‘keeping a record’ and ‘takes note of them’)
- مَاۤ — Maa — All that (= What; whatever; whatsoever)
- يُبَيِّتُوۡنَ — Yo-buy-yay-too-na — Spend night (= v., pres., pl., m., 3rd person. Do, pursue or use in or during the night. A/t/a, ‘they plan by night,’ ‘scheme by night,’ ‘their schemes,’ ‘their nightly (plots)’ and ‘their meditations’)
- فَ — Fa — So (= Hence; so; thus; therefore; thus. See فَ above)
- اَعۡرِضۡ — Au-riz — Turn away (= v., pres., s., 2nd person. Avert; avoid; disregard; depart; get back; go away, ignore; move; pass; refuse; side-step; stay away; turn aside; withdraw. A/t/a, ‘turn aside,’ ‘turn aside … (do not punish),’ ‘turn away,’ ‘oppose,’ ‘Let them be,’ ‘disregard’ and ‘keep clear’)
- عَنۡ — Un — From (= About; concerning; regarding; relative to)
- هُمۡ — Hoom — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Refers to aforesaid people)
- وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ above)
- تَوَكَّلۡ — Ta-wuk-kul — Trust (= v., pres., 2nd person., Entrust; have or put faith and trust. A/t/a. ‘put thy trust’ and ‘put your trust’)
- عَلَى– Alul — On (= Upon. A/t/a. ‘in’)
- اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
- وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ above)
- كَفٰى — Ka-faa — Has sufficed (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Has been adequate, ample; appropriate, enough, plenteous, proper, satisfactory, sufficient, suitable or fully capable and in control. See 004:007, 004:046, 004:071, 004:080 and 004:133 for similar phraseology. A/t/a, ‘enough is,’ ‘sufficient is,’ ‘is sufficient,’ ‘Ever All-Sufficient’ and ‘suffices’)

- اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
- وَكِيۡلًا — Va-kee-laa — Guardian (= n., Confidant; guard; guide; like a lawyer; responsible; supporter. A/t/a, ‘having charge of affairs,’ ‘Trustee,’ ‘Guardian’ and ‘Disposer of affairs.’ See Note 001:001)
004:079
The Holy Qor-aan 004:079
اَيۡنَ مَا تَكُوۡنُوۡا يُدۡرِكْكُّمُ الۡمَوۡتُ وَلَوۡ كُنۡتُمۡ فِىۡ بُرُوۡجٍ مُّشَيَّدَةٍ ؕ وَاِنۡ تُصِبۡهُمۡ حَسَنَةٌ يَّقُوۡلُوۡا هٰذِهٖ مِنۡ عِنۡدِ اللّٰهِ ۚ وَاِنۡ تُصِبۡهُمۡ سَيِّئَةٌ يَّقُوۡلُوۡا هٰذِهٖ مِنۡ عِنۡدِكَ ؕ قُلۡ كُلٌّ مِّنۡ عِنۡدِ اللّٰهِ ؕ فَمَالِ ھٰٓؤُلَۤاءِ الۡقَوۡمِ لَا يَكَادُوۡنَ يَفۡقَهُوۡنَ حَدِيۡثًا
Aina-maa-ta-koo-noo-yood-ray-ko-mool-mao-to Wa-lao-koon-toom-fee-bo-roo-jim-mo-shuy-ya-dah
Wa-in-to-sib-hoom-ha-sa-na-toon-ya-qoo-loo-haa-zay-he-min-in-dil-laa-hay Wa-in-to-sib-hoom-suy-yay-aa-ton-ya-qoo-loo-haa-zay-he-min-in-day-ka Qool-kool-loon-min-in-dil-laa-hay
Fa-maa-lay-haa-o-laa-il-qao-may Laa-ya-kaa-do-na-yuf-qa-hoo-na-ha-de-thaa
Whatever you have been, the death will reach you And even if you have been in strong fortresses
And if a goodness reaches them, they say, “This is from Allah.” And if a bad thing reaches them. they say, “This is from you.” Say, “All this is from Allah.”
So what is wrong with these people that They don’t come close to understand a clear message
** Note 004:079. The phrase well-built castles that comes in the verse further on implies that the simple and straightforward translation of this section is whatever or whoever you may have been.
However, some authors have translated this section as whoever you are and wherever you have been.
