فَلَمَّا جَنَّ عَلَيۡهِ الَّيۡلُ رَاٰ كَوۡكَبًا ‌ ۚ  قَالَ هٰذَا رَبِّىۡ‌ ۚ  فَلَمَّاۤ اَفَلَ قَالَ لَاۤ اُحِبُّ الۡاٰفِلِيۡنَ

 

Fa-lum-maa-jun-na-aa-lai-hil-lai-lo-ra-aa-kao-ka-bun                                                              Qaa-la-haa-zaa-rub-be-fa-lum-maa-aa-fa-la                                                                                  Qaa-la-laa-o-hib-bool-aa-fay-leen

 

So when the night darkened on him he saw a bright star.                                          He said, ‘Here is my God.” But when it disappeared                                                      He said, “I do not like those that disappear.”

وَكَذٰلِكَ نُرِىۡۤ اِبۡرٰهِيۡمَ مَلَـكُوۡتَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ وَلِيَكُوۡنَ مِنَ الۡمُوۡقِـنِيۡنَ‏

 

Wa-ka-zaa-lay-ka-no-re-ib-ra-he-ma                                                                                                Ma-la-koo-tus-sa-ma-waa-tay-wul-ur-dzay                                                                                    Wa-lay-ya-koo-na-may-nul-moo-qay-nee-n      

 

And this is how We showed Abraham                                                                                The universe of heavens and earth                                                                                      And that he comes to be among Real Righteous

وَاِذۡ قَالَ اِبۡرٰهِيۡمُ لِاَبِيۡهِ اٰزَرَ اَتَتَّخِذُ اَصۡنَامًا اٰلِهَةً ‌ ۚ  اِنِّىۡۤ اَرٰٮكَ وَقَوۡمَكَ فِىۡ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِيۡنٍ

 

Wa-iz-qaa-la-ib-raa-he-mo-lay-abee-hay-aa-za-ra                                                                      Aa-tut-ta-khay-zo-us-naa-mun-aa-lay-ha-ton                                                                                In-nee-araa-ka-wa-qao-ma-ka-fee-dza-laa-lin-mo-bee-n

 

And call to mind when Abraham said to his father Aazur                                            “Do you treat statutes as Gods to be worshiped                                                                I surely have seen you and your people in an obvious error

** Note 006:075. The word  اَصۡنَامًا  (= Us-naa-mun) is a plural of which the singular is  صنم  (= Sa-num). Various authors have translated the singular word as any man-made object, doll, idol, statute, picture, belief system, doctrine, dogma, policy, religion, sect, rule or value. To follow, honor, obey, respect, take or treat the required or mandated act is quintessential to worship them.

One can worship the statute of a love, lover or beloved person as if it were a deity. And one can worship the statute or object made of dirt, wood or stone as in the times of Abraham. And one can worship the statute or code, legislation, policy or rule in a given time and territory. But failure to comply with an obedience, respect or worship of a statute invariably results in severe penalties.

History shows how chiefs and kings pursued prosecutions. Even general public persecuted the minorities. All in a class of people, school or territory were compelled to conform. Those who defied idol-worshiping were burnt. Those who denied Christ in Christian domains were chastised. Clergy rules labeling their State-sponsored religion as Islam criminalized the disagreeing-followers of Qor-aan with the likes of Ordinance XX of 1984 amending Sec 298-C Pakistan Penal Code.

Commentaries like Sect Formation, Sect Recognition or Mullah’s Jihad is no road to Peace  show how most dissents entailed persecution. Established religion has been enforced by political muscle and devil-quoting-scripture-type religious zealots by misconstruing verses like 004:060)

وَهُوَ الَّذِىۡ خَلَقَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضَ بِالۡحَـقِّ ؕ   وَيَوۡمَ يَقُوۡلُ كُنۡ فَيَكُوۡنُ  ؕ   قَوۡلُهُ الۡحَـقُّ‌ ؕ وَلَهُ الۡمُلۡكُ يَوۡمَ يُنۡفَخُ فِى الصُّوۡرِ‌ ؕ  عٰلِمُ الۡغَيۡبِ وَ الشَّهَادَةِ  ؕ   وَهُوَ الۡحَكِيۡمُ الۡخَبِيۡرُ‏

 

Wa-ho-wul-la-ze-kha-la-qus-sa-maa-waa-tay-wul-ur-dza                                                        Wa-yao-ma-ya-qoo-lo-koon-fa-ya-koon-qao-lo-hool-huq-qo                                                    Wa-la-hool-mool-ko-yao-ma-yoon-fa-kho-fis-soo-ray                                                                  Aa-lay-mool-ghai-bay-wush-sha-haa-dah                                                                                      Wa-ho-wul-ha-kee-mool-kha-bee-r

 

And He is Who created the heaven and earth with good reason                                And the day He says, “Be.” Then it is done. His word is The Truth.                        And the Power is for Him the day the Trumpet is blown.                                          He is the Knower of the unseen and the seen.                                                                  And He is the Wisest, the Most-Informed.

God’s finality and mastery of having total knowledge of everything being ever so Cognizant, Mindful, Most Knowledgeable, Well-Acquainted and Well-Aware is  verbalized by various translations differently. See Note 001:001. A/t/a, ‘The Knower,’ ‘the knower,’ ‘All-Knower,’ ‘He has full knowledge’ and ‘He has knowledge.’ But translating this noun into ‘Knoweth’ as a verb is inaccurate)

Phrase Koon-fa-ya-koon …

Phrase Koon-fa-ya-koon meaning “Be.” Then it is done.

 

يَقُوۡلُ لَهٗ كُنۡ فَيَكُوۡنُ

Ya-qoo-lo-la-hoo-koon-fa-ya-koon

He say to it, “Be.” Then it is done

 

The first key word  كُنۡ  (= Be) in this phrase is a command. An adjudication, decree, order or verdict that settles an affair and directs a single thing to get done, come into effect, come to pass, happen, occur, take effect or take place. Or it is addressed to a set of circumstances to roll into action. It starts the operation of a series of actions like the process of Evolution to blossom out over a period of time. The resulting reality or implementation of the command nevertheless ends or starts right THEN & THERE when the command is given.

The second words   يَكُوۡنُ  (= Ya-koon-o) is the execution of the command. The completion, implementation and end result goes into effect immediately the command is given. For a single thing it may be like answering the call of a caller who has called (002:186). For a system it may be like setting up the universe set up for the residents of earth (006:074). For a series of actions it may be like the domino tiles which once pushed go on falling and each falling tile triggers the fall of the next until the process pressed into action once has reached its finish-line.

  • لّ — La — To (= For the attention, benefit, purpose or reason of; with intent to; with the object of; so that; towards)
  • هٗ — Hoo — It (= s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the ‘matter He has decided’)
  • كُنۡ — Koon — Be (= v., pres. 2nd person. Be; become a reality; come into existence; comes to pass.)
  • فَ — Fa — Then (= And; after it; as a result; at the end; consequently; then; hence;  resultantly; so; thereafter; therefore; thus; yet)
  • يَكُوۡنُ — Ya-koon-o — It is done (= v. pres participle, m., 3rd person. The order is carried out  immediately. The commanded is implemented right then and there. The reality ordered manifests, materializes and appears instantaneously. The process is commenced to continue until the end is reached.

See how the Holy Qor-aan has used the following Phrase Koon-fa-ya-koon several times

  • 002:118  When He has decided a matter, He says to it, “Be.” Then it is done.
  • 003:048  When He has decided a matter, He says to it, “Be.” Then it is done.
  • 003:060  He said to it, “Be.” Then it is done.
  • 006:074  And on that day He says to it, “Be.” Then it is done.
  • 036:083  His order when He has decided a thing is He says to it, “Be.” Then it is done.

The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                        006:073

 

وَاَنۡ اَقِيۡمُوا الصَّلٰوةَ وَ اتَّقُوۡهُ‌ ؕ  وَهُوَ الَّذِىۡۤ اِلَيۡهِ تُحۡشَرُوۡنَ‏  

 

Wa  un  aa-qee-mo  os-sua-laa-ta  wa  ut-ta-qoo-ho                                                                      Wa  ho-wa  ul-la-zee  elai  hay-  toh-sha-roo-n

 

And you observe the prayer and do duty to Him                                                            And He is the One to Him you will be gathered.

  • اتَّقُو — Tuq-qoo — Do duty to (= v., pres., m., 2nd person, Be clean, righteous and do duty  owed to God. This word conveys many concepts such as avoid angering Allah, act piously and righteously, be dutiful, God-fearing, good, noble and virtuousclean inner self, guard against or ward off evil and others condensed in our Commentary The Righteous. A/t/a, ‘fear God,’ ‘keep your duty,’ ‘ward off evil,’ ‘fear,’ ‘be mindful of your duty,’ ‘take Him as a shield,’ ‘to fear’ and ‘to be obedient … and fear’)

  • تُحۡشَرُوۡنَ — Toh-sha-roo-n — You will be gathered (= v., pres., pass, pl., 2nd person., You will be brought to appear for an audience or have a hearing. Collected as if for an inspection. Rounded up for presentment. Also, assembled; banded; driven; gathered. A/t/a, ‘you shall be gathered,’ ‘ye will be gathered,’ ‘you shall all be gathered’ and ‘you shall be assembled.’ But the translation ‘we shall be Gathered’ is wrong for being in the 1st person and not of the word the Holy Qor-aan has used for the 2nd person)

قُلۡ اَنَدۡعُوۡا مِنۡ دُوۡنِ اللّٰهِ مَا لَا يَنۡفَعُنَا وَلَا يَضُرُّنَا وَنُرَدُّ عَلٰٓى اَعۡقَابِنَا بَعۡدَ اِذۡ هَدٰٮنَا اللّٰهُ كَالَّذِى اسۡتَهۡوَتۡهُ الشَّيٰطِيۡنُ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ حَيۡرَانَ ؕ لَـهٗۤ اَصۡحٰبٌ يَّدۡعُوۡنَهٗۤ اِلَى الۡهُدَى ائۡتِنَا   ؕ   قُلۡ اِنَّ هُدَى اللّٰهِ هُوَ الۡهُدٰى  ؕ  وَاُمِرۡنَا لِنُسۡلِمَ لِرَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَۙ‏  

 

Qool-aa-nud-oo-min-do-nil-laa-hay-maa                                                                                          Laa-yun-fa-o-naa-wa-laa-ya-dzoo-ro-naa                                                                                     Wa-no-rud-do-alaa-au-qaa-bay-naa                                                                                                Bau-da-iz-ha-daa-nul-laa-ho                                                                                                             Kul-la-ziss-tah-wut-hoosh-sha-yaa-tee-no                                                                                    Fil-ur-dzay-hai-raa-na

La-hoo-us-haa-boon-yud-oo-na-hoo-elul-ho-dau-tay-naa                                                        Qool-in-nul-ho-dul-laa-hay-ho-wul-ho-daa                                                                                      Wa-o-mir-naa-lay-noos-lay-ma-lay-rub-bil-aa-la-meen

 

You say: “Shall we pray other than Allah to what                                              Cannot benefit us and cannot harm us                                                                           And we turn on our heels                                                                                                          After Allah has guided us aright                                                                                          Like him whom the satanic folks have seduced                                                                To a state of confusion in the world?”

He has friends call him, “For guidance come to us.”                                                  You say, “Surely Allah’s guidance is the real Guidance                                            And We are commanded for submitting to the Lord Provident to the Universe”

The Only One Who provides all that sustains life. Ultimate Provider of air, water, food and whatever we and all other creatures need to live and subsist)
  • الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَۙ‏ — Aa-la-meen –The Universe   (= n., pl., As an attribute of God Almighty the word implies no limits. It means the Universe, all His creations, all that exists in whole Universe, all that has life, and Mankind. See Note 001:002. A/t/a, ‘the worlds,’ ‘all the worlds,’ ‘creation’ and ‘Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists’)

  يَسۡتَفۡتُوۡنَكَ ؕ  قُلِ اللّٰهُ يُفۡتِيۡكُمۡ فِى الۡـكَلٰلَةِ‌ ؕ  اِنِ امۡرُؤٌا هَلَكَ لَـيۡسَ لَهٗ وَلَدٌ وَّلَهٗۤ اُخۡتٌ فَلَهَا نِصۡفُ مَا تَرَكَ‌ ۚ   وَهُوَ يَرِثُهَاۤ اِنۡ لَّمۡ يَكُنۡ لَّهَا وَلَدٌ‌ ؕ  فَاِنۡ كَانَـتَا اثۡنَتَيۡنِ فَلَهُمَا الثُّلُثٰنِ مِمَّا تَرَكَ‌ ؕ  وَاِنۡ كَانُوۡۤا اِخۡوَةً رِّجَالًا وَّنِسَآءً فَلِلذَّكَرِ مِثۡلُ حَظِّ الۡاُنۡثَيَيۡنِ‌ ؕ  يُبَيِّنُ اللّٰهُ لَـكُمۡ اَنۡ تَضِلُّوۡا‌ ؕ  وَاللّٰهُ بِكُلِّ شَىۡءٍ عَلِيۡمٌ

 

Yus-tuf-to-noo-ka-qo-lil-laa-ho-yoof-te-koom-fil-ka-la-lah

Aiy-nim-ro-oon-ha-la-ka-lai-sa-la-hoo-wa-la-doon                                                                      Wa-la-hoo-ookh-toon-fa-la-haa-nis-fo-maa-ta-ra-ka                                                                    Wa-ho-wa-ya-ray-tho-haa-in-lum-ya-koon-la-haa-wa-la-doon

Fa-in-kaa-na-tuth-na-tai-nay                                                                                                              Fa-la-ho-muth-tho-lo-thaa-nay-mim-maa-ta-ra-ka

Wa-in-kaa-noo-ikh-wa-tur-ray-jaa-lunw-wa-nay-saa-un                                                        Fa-liz-za-ka-ray-mith-lo-huz-zil-oon-tha-yai-nay

Yo-buy-yay-nool-laa-ho-la-koom-un-to-dzil-loo                                                                            Wul-laa-ho-bay-kool-lay-shai-in-alee-m

 

They ask for your direction. Say, “Allah directs you regarding Ka-laa-lah.

If a man died and he had no child and he had a sister                                                  Then she will have one-half of what he left behind.                                                    And he will inherit her if she had no child.

But if there had been two sisters                                                                                    Then for them are two-thirds of what he left behind.

And if there had been siblings men and women                                                              Then for the male is like the share of two females.

Allah explains for you lest you err                                                                                          And Allah is Fully Aware of every thing

 

  • يَسۡتَفۡتُوۡنَ — Yus-tuf-to-na — They ask direction (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Ask, beg, inquire, invite, look; request, seek or solicit for a certitude, decision, decree, direction, guidance, instruction, judgment, mandate, opinion, order or verdict. A/t/a, ‘ask … For a legal decision,’ ‘ask for a decision,’ ask for instructions,’ ‘ask for a pronouncement,’ ask ‘directions concerning the inheritance,’ ‘ask … of your ruling (in the matter of inheritance of a kalalah,’ ‘ask for a legal verdict’ and ‘They consult’)
  • كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. The addressee of this divine message is the Holy Prophet s.a.w. A/t/a,  ‘Thee’)
  • قُلِ — Qo-l(il) — You say (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Announce; convey; explain;  expound; inform; proclaim; profess; state; tell. A/t/a, ‘Say to them.’ See Commentary ‘You Say’ means)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • يُفۡتِيۡ — Yoof-te — Directs (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Gives certitude, decision, decree, direction, guidance, instruction, judgment, mandate, order or verdict. A/t/a, ‘directs,’ ‘directs (thus),’ ‘gives … a decision,’ ‘gives … instructions,’ ‘gives … directions,’ ‘gives …  decision,’ ‘gives … ruling,’ ‘pronounces’ and ‘instructs.’ But translating the word as ‘pronounced’ in the past tense is not of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the present tense)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all. A/t/a, ‘for you’)
  • فِى — F…(il) — In (= About; concerning; in reference, regarding; relative to)
  • الۡـكَلٰلَةِ‌ — Ka-laa-la-tay — One who died leaving no parent, progeny or proper partner in life as a spouse. See also 004:013. A/t/a, ‘the person who has neither parents nor child,’ ‘distant kindred,’ ‘who have no descendants or ascendants as heirs,’ ‘Kalala,’ ‘Kalala … such a one,’ ‘kalalah (- one who has neither parents left nor a child,’ ‘those who leave no descendant nor ascendant as heir,’ ‘that die childless’ and ‘Al-Kalalah (those who leave neither descendants nor ascendants as heirs’)
  • اِنِ — Aiy-n…(im) — If (= In case; under the circumstances; when; when situation arises; whenever)
  • امۡرُؤٌا — Im-ro-oon — A man (= n., s., Deceased; decedent; person. A/t/a, ‘a man’ and ‘it is a man’)
  • هَلَكَ — Ha-la-ka — Died (= v., past., m,, s., 3rd person. Met death; passed away. A/t/a, ‘dies’ or ‘die’ but that in the present tense is not of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • لَيۡسَ — Lai-sa — No (= Absolute denial; never; not at all. A/t/a, ‘leaving no’)
  • لَ — La — For (= Ref to as he has no. Concerning; regarding; relative to)
  • هٗ — Hoo — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid decedent)

  • هُوَ — Ho-wa — He (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Him. A/t/a, ‘Her brother’ and ‘Likewise he (- the brother who is kalalah‘)
  • يَرِثُ — Ya-ray-tho — Inherits (= v., pres., m., s., 3rd person. Succeeds with a share of the  decedent’s inheritance, command or rule. A/t/a, ‘shall be … heir,’ ‘he would have inherited from,’ ‘shall inherit,’ ‘shall inherit her (whole property),’ ‘her brother shall be her sole heir’ and ‘her brother takes her inheritance’)
  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to said female decedent. A/t/a, ‘(such a deceased was) a woman’ and ‘her property’)
  • اِنۡ — In…(l)  — If (= In case; under the circumstances; when. See اِنۡ above)
  • لَمۡ — Lum — Not (= Absolutely never; no, not at all)
  • يَكُنۡ — Ya-koon … (l) — Have been (= v., pres., s., m., 3rd person., Happen to be. A/t/a, ‘left’)

  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to aforesaid sister. A/t/a, ‘(such a deceased was) a woman’)
  • وَلَدٌ۬‌ — Wa-la-doon — A child (= Offspring. Refers to one or more sons or daughters. A/t/a, ‘son.’ Also, this plus six earlier words were jointly translated as ‘had she died childless,’ ‘if she has no child,’ ‘if she (- the sister) has no child (and dies),’ ‘if she leaves no child’ and ‘if she dies childless’)

  • ٱثۡنَتَيۡنِ — (U)th-na-tai-nay — Two females (= Two persons of feminine gender; woman. A/t/a, ‘two sisters,’ ‘two (sisters),’ ‘two sisters (or more)’ and ‘two or more sisters, consanguine, or consanguine and uterine’)
  • فَ — Fa — Then (= After this; hence; so; thus; therefore. See فَ above)
  • لَ — La — For (= Has; have, belongs to; will inherit. See لَ / لِ above)
  • هُمَا — Ho-maa — Those two (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Refers to aforesaid two sisters)
  • الثُّلُثٰنِ — Tho-lo-thaa-nay — Two-thirds (= Two out of three shares of the inheritance)
  • مِمَّا — Mim-maa — Out of what (= Combination of two words.  The first is  مِنۡ (min) that means ‘among, from or out of the class, category, kind count or several persons or things.’  The second is  مَاۤ (maa) that means ‘all that, what, whatever, any time, when whenever.’  So the combination means ‘for what;  out of what; concerning, regarding, relative to; thereby)
  • تَرَكَ — Ta-ra-ka — He left behind (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Refers to what the deceased left for heirs as the inheritance. See تَرَكَ above. A/t/a, ‘the heritage,’ ‘he (- the brother who is kalalah,’ ‘of the inheritance,’ ‘of his estate’ and ‘inheritance between them;’ but translating this word as a noun — or as ‘he leaves’ as a verb in the present tense — is not of what the Holy Qor-aan has described in a verb in the past tense)

  • اِخۡوَةً — Ikh-wa-ton … (ray) — Siblings (= The relations consisting of both brothers and sisters. A/t/a, ‘brothers and sisters,’ ‘both brothers and sisters,’ ‘brethren — both’ and ‘brethren’)
  • رِّجَالًا — Ray-jaa-lun — Men (= n., Male gender)
  • وَّ  — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above))
  • نِسَآءً — Nay-saa-un — Women (= n., Female gender)
  • فَ — Fa — Then (= After this; hence; so; thus; therefore. See فَ above)

  • لذَّكَرِ — Za-ka-ray — The male (= n., Man; human being in masculine gender. A/t/a, ‘each male shall be that of two females’)
  • مِثۡلُ —  Mith-lo — Like (= Duplicate; identical in nature; just like; the same way; resembling; similar; substitute. Of the same kind, looks quality, shape or type. A/t/a, ‘as much as’ and ‘equivalent of the share of’)
  • حَظِّ — Huz-z … (il) — Share (= n., Allocation; allotment; part; portion; reservation; share; slice)
  • الۡاُنۡثَيَيۡنِ‌ — Oon-tha-yai-nay — Two females (= Two persons of feminine gender; woman. A/t/a, ‘two females’ and ‘twice the share of the female’)
  • يُبَيِّنُ — Yo-buy-yay-no(ol) — Explains (= v., pres., s., m., 3rd person. Clarifies; clearly states. elaborates; espouses; expounds; informs; makes things crystal clear, obvious, plain and known well; sets limits for permissible activity A/t/a, ‘doth … make clear … (His law),’ ‘makes clear,’ ‘expoundeth,’ ‘explains,’ ‘explains matters,’ ‘makes (His commandments) clear,’ ‘(Thus) does … make clear (His Law) and ‘Thus Allah makes plain … His precepts’)  
  • اللّٰهُ —  Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • لَ — La — For (= Has; have, belongs to; will inherit. See لَ / لِ above)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all men. Generally this is the  way the Holy Qor-aan addresses men and women)
  • اَنۡ — Un — That (= So that)
  • تَضِلُّوۡا‌ — Ta-dzil-loo — You err (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Loose miss; ‘Go astray,’ take wrong road. A/t/a, ‘lest you err,’ ‘ye err not,’ ‘lest you go astray,’ ‘lest you should err’ and ‘may not err’)
  • وَ — Wa…(ul) — And (= This vaao is tantamount to taking oath; solemn declaration)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)

The construction of the following four (4) words is also in 002:232

  • بِ — Bay — With (= The Arabic word  بِ  literally means ‘with.’ A/t/A, ‘of’)
  • كُلِّ — Kool-lay — Every (= All; all sorts; altogether; each and everyone; everything; in every manner; very much. Also, entirely; exceedingly; greatly, highly; totally; wholly)
  • شَىۡءٍ — Shai-in — Thing (= n., s., Smallest part of any article, item, object, material, matter, things; phenomenon or stuff; to the least extent)
  • عَلِيۡمٌ — Alee-m — All-Knowing (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most, and highlights that none more than Him knows, is knowing; fully acquainted; informed to the maximum. Has total and perfect knowledge. Has nothing out of  sight. Knows all. Well-Aware. Most Knowledgeable. Well-Acquainted. See 001:001. A/t/a, ‘Knower’ and ‘All-Knower.’ But ‘knows … well,’ ‘hath knowledge,’ ‘has knowledge’ and ‘knows’ as a verb is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated as a noun about Allah)

  فَاَمَّا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا بِاللّٰهِ وَاعۡتَصَمُوۡا بِهٖ فَسَيُدۡخِلُهُمۡ فِىۡ رَحۡمَةٍ مِّنۡهُ وَفَضۡلٍ  ۙ  وَّيَهۡدِيۡهِمۡ اِلَيۡهِ صِرَاطًا مُّسۡتَقِيۡمًا  ؕ‏   

 

 

Fa-um-mul-la-zee-na-aa-ma-noo-bil-laa-hay                                                                            Wau-ta-sa-moo-bay-he-fa-sa                                                                                                              Yood-khay-lo-hoom-fee-rah-ma-tin-min-ho-wa-fudz-lin                                                              Wa-yah-de-him-elai-hay-say-raa-tum-moos-ta-qee-ma

 

So regards those who believed in Allah                                                                            And held fast with Him, then soon                                                                                      He will enter them in Mercy and Blessings from Him                                                And guide them to Himself in a right road

  • اَمَّا — Um-ma … (ul) — As regards (= As far as; as regards; relative to. A/t/a, ‘as for’ and ‘now as to’)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to the Believers)
  • اٰمَنُوۡا — Aa-ma-noo — They Believed (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Believed in the Holy Qor-aan; became Moslems; entered Isslaam. The Holy Qor-aan has used this word in the past tense; yet some authors translated it inaccurately in the present tense as ‘believe’ — like the one who was inconsistent with himself in what he had done just two verses earlier in 004:174. See Note 002:026c and Commentaries Islam – 101 and Believe and Disbelieve)
  • بِ — B…(il) — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with but the context here warrants to substitute it with an ‘in’)
  • اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • وَ — Wa…(au) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • اعۡتَصَمُوۡا — Au-ta-sa-moo — They held fast (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Attached; bonded; clung; connected; joined; linked up; sought; stuck. A/t/a, ‘held fast.’ But the translation as ‘hold fast’ in the present tense is not of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • بِ — Bay — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with. A/t/a, ‘unto’ and ‘to’)
  • هٖ — He — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the Almighty God. This pronoun may also refer to the Belief in Allah stated in the 4th precedent word اٰمَنُوۡا )
  • فَ — Fa — Then (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; in conclusion; so; thereafter; therefore; thus)
  • سَ — Sa — Soon will (= The one-lettered word that turns a verb in the present tense to verb in the near term or future; in a short while; quickly; swiftly; very closely; without too long a wait. A/t/a, definitely; surely)
  • يُدۡخِلُ — Yood-khay-lo — Will enter (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Admit. A/t/a, ‘will cause to enter.’ But the translation ‘shall be admitted’ in the passive voice is not of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the active voice)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Those men; they; their)
  • فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Amidst. Among. Contained or inside a duration, event, place, period, person, phenomenon, situation, thing or time. Also, about; concerning; in reference, regarding, relative to. See Note at 002:028. May also be belonging to a kind or category, rank or person, thing or situation)
  • رَحۡمَةٍ — Rah-ma-tin — Mercy (= Beneficence.  Clemency.  Compassion.  Condoning. Forgiveness.  Intercession.  Intervention.  Kindness. Leniency. Omitting, relenting or waiving punishment)
  • مِّنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several
  • هُ — Ho — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the Almighty God)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • فَضۡلٍ — Fudz-lin — Blessings (= n,, s., Abundant grace; benevolence; blessing; bounty;      generosity; goodness; grace; grant; greatest gift; kindness; liberal bestowing; plenteousness. A/t/a, ‘Grace (i.e. Paradise)’
  • وّ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • يَهۡدِيۡ — Yauh-de — Guides (= v., pres., m., s., 3rd person. He directs to the best way;  gives good guidance; provides opportunities with the appropriate directions; leads on level linier lines; puts on proper path. Shows sure success..Also, avoids evil to enable man reach his noble aims, goals and objects. A/t/a, ‘guide’ and ‘will guide’)
  • هِمۡ — Him — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Those men; they; their)
  • اِلَيۡ — E-lai — At (= In the direction of; to; towards)
  • هِ — Hay — Himself (= pro., s., m; 3rd person. Refers to the Almighty God)

The concept in next two words is repeated many times including the verse 001:006

  • صِرَاطًا — Say-raa-tun — Road (= Course; direction; lines; path; road; route; way. A/t/a, ‘Path’)
  • مُّسۡتَقِيۡمًا — Moos-ta-qee-ma — Right (= Appropriate; best; correct; proper; straight. A/t/a, ‘leading to Himself,’ ‘along a straight and right … (leading to Himself),’ ‘along a straight path’ and ‘Straight’)

 يٰۤـاَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قَدۡ جَآءَكُمۡ بُرۡهَانٌ مِّنۡ رَّبِّكُمۡ وَاَنۡزَلۡنَاۤ اِلَيۡكُمۡ نُوۡرًا مُّبِيۡنًا‏

 

Yaa-auy-yo-hun-naa-so-qud-jaa-aa-koom                                                                                      Boor-haa-noon-mir-rub-bay-koom                                                                                                    Wa-un-zul-naa-elai-koom-noo-rum-mo-be-naa

 

Listen, People! Indeed reached you is                                                                                  A proof from your Lord                                                                                                          And We have sent down to you a brilliant Light

 

The Holy Qor-aan has used the Phrase Yaa-auy-yo-hun-naa-so … in many places

  • يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; pay attention; O!)
  • اَيُّهَا — Auy-yo-h(un) — All (= All, entire or whole of the addressees or audience)
  • النَّاسُ — Naa-so — People (= Folks; mankind; nation. A/t/a, ‘O mankind,’ ‘O you people’ and ‘Men’)
  • قَدۡ — Qud — Surely (= This word lays emphasis like indeed; definitely; surely. See Note 004:049 and our Commentary titled the “2 Words of Emphasis used together Multiply Effect.” A/t/a, ‘Now’)
  • جَآءَ — Jaa-aa — Reached (= v., past, s., 3rd person. Arrived; reached; returned. Also, in different contexts the word can mean achieved, brought, delivered, settled or succeeded. A/t/a, ‘hath come,’ ‘hath … come,’ ‘has … come,’ ‘has come’ and ‘have received’)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all men. Generally this is the way the Holy Qor-aan addresses men and women)
  • بُرۡهَانٌ — Boor-haa-noon — Proof (= n., s., Argument; evidence; proof; reason. A clear,  manifest or vivid argument, proof or testimonial A/t/a, ‘convincing proof,’ ‘convincing proof (Prophet Muhammad s.a.w),’ ‘manifest proof,’ ‘evident proof,’ ‘proof’ and ‘clear evidence’)
  • مِّنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several
  • رَبِّ — Rub-bay — God (= The Almighty Allah who fills needs of all creatures; Cherisher; Creator; Guardian; Master; Lord Provident. The Only One Who provides all that sustains life. The Ultimate Provider of air, water, food and whatever we and all other creatures need to live and subsist)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all men. A/t/a, ‘unto you’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • اَنۡزَلۡ — Un-zul — Sent down (= v., past., s., 1st person. Dispatched; gave; granted;  inspired; revealed; handed; laid; landed; lowered; sent down; poured down. Also, delivered; provided; released; supplied; revealed; sent forth)
  • نَآ — Naa — We (= pro., m & g., pl., 1st person. Our; We; Us. Also, used with God’s name it is the authoritative way a higher-up talks to a subordinate)
  • اِلَيۡ — E-lai — At (= In the direction of; to; towards)

  • نُوۡرًا — Noo-run — Light (= n., Beam; brightness; glow; luminosity; radiance. A/t/a, ‘Light (Qur’an)’ and ‘light’)
  • مُّبِيۡنًا — Mo-be-naa — Obvious (= adj., Apparent; clear; evident; flagrant; glaring; gross;   lucid; manifest; obvious; open; palpable; patent; unambiguous; unmistakable. A situation that is avowed, cleared, declared, marked or sworn to be without any blemish, hindrance or obstruction which could cloud or fog the view. Also as an adv: clearly; evidently; grossly; manifestly; obviously; openly. A/t/a ‘manifest,’ ‘clear,’ ‘clear … which distinguishes (the right from the wrong)’ and ‘glorious’)
