وَهُوَ الَّذِىۡۤ اَنۡزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَآءِ مَآءً‌ ۚ فَاَخۡرَجۡنَا بِهٖ نَبَاتَ كُلِّ شَىۡءٍ فَاَخۡرَجۡنَا مِنۡهُ خَضِرًا نُّخۡرِجُ مِنۡهُ حَبًّا مُّتَرَاكِبًا‌ ۚ وَمِنَ النَّخۡلِ مِنۡ طَلۡعِهَا قِنۡوَانٌ دَانِيَةٌ وَّجَنّٰتٍ مِّنۡ اَعۡنَابٍ وَّالزَّيۡتُوۡنَ وَالرُّمَّانَ مُشۡتَبِهًا وَّغَيۡرَ مُتَشَابِهٍ‌ ؕ اُنْظُرُوۡۤا اِلٰى ثَمَرِهٖۤ اِذَاۤ اَثۡمَرَ وَيَنۡعِهٖ  ؕ اِنَّ فِىۡ ذٰ لِكُمۡ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّقَوۡمٍ يُّؤۡمِنُوۡنَ

 

Wa-ho-wul-la-zee-un-za-la-may-nus-sa-maa-aiy-maa-un                                                          Fa-ukh-ruj-naa-bay-he-na-ba-ta-kool-lay-sha-in                                                                          Fa-ukh-ruj-naa-min-ho-kha-zay-run                                                                                              Nookh-ray-jo-min-ho-hub-bun-mo-ta-raa-kay-bun

Wa-may-nun-ukh-lay-min-tul-aiy-haa-qin-waa-noon-daa-nay-ya-ton                                  Wa-jun-naa-tin-min-au-naa-bin-wuz-zai-too-na-wur-room-maa-na                                  Moosh-ta-bay-haa-wa-ghai-ra-mo-ta-shaa-beh

Oon-zo-roo-elaa-tha-ma-ray-he-izaa-uth-ma-ra-wa-yun-aiy-he                                            In-na-fee-zaa-lay-koom-la-aa-yaa-tin-lay-qao-min-yoe-may-noo-n

 

And He is the one Who poured down water from the sky.                                            Then We grew with it vegetation of all kinds                                                                    Then We grew from it greens                                                                                               From it We grow grains, bunched.

And from the date-palm from its swath the clustered dates, hanging low            And gardens of grapes and olives and pomegranates.                                                Made to look alike in the group, yet not intrinsically similar.

Look at its fruit when it bears the fruit and its growth.                                            Surely in all this are Signs for the believing people.

  • هُوَ — Ho-wa … (ul) — He (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. He; him; it. Refers to aforesaid shown, specified or stated article, thing or person. A/t/a, ‘It is He Who,’ ‘It is We Who,’ ‘He it is,’ and ‘God is the One’)
  • الَّذِىۡ — La-zee — He who (= s., m., 3rd person. Article, thing, person or phenomenon  in masculine gender)
  • اَنۡزَلَ — Un-za-la — Poured down (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Dispatched; gave; granted; inspired; revealed; handed; laid; landed; lowered; sent or poured down. Also, delivered; provided; released; supplied. See Note 002:005a. A/t/a, ‘sent … down.’ however, ‘sendeth down,’ ‘sends down,’ and ‘pour down’  in the present tense is inaccurate translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has described in the past tense)
  • مِنَ — May … (us) — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon)
  •  السَّمَآءِ — Sa-maa-aiy — The sky (= n., s., Clouds, rainwater or sky. All above ground, on   earth or in space. Firmament, heavens, space or world. Universe. A/t/a, ‘skies,’ ‘clouds’ and ‘the cloud’)
  • مَآءً — Maa-un — Water (= H2O; rain; rain water. A/t/a, ‘water (rain)’ and ‘Rain’)
  • فَ — Fa — Then (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; in conclusion; so; thereafter; therefore; thus)
  • اَخۡرَجۡ — Ukh-ruj — Brought out (= v., past., 3rd person. Blossomed; bud out; germinated;  grew; harvested; produced; sprung; sprouted; vegetated. A/t/a, ‘brought forth.’ But ‘produce,’ ‘bring forth’ and ‘brings out’ in the present tense are not accurate translations of what the Holy Qor-aan has described in the past tense)
  • نَآ — Naa — We (= pro., pl., 1st person. Our; Us. Used with God’s name this plural is the authoritative way a higher-up talks)
  • بِ — Bay — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with. This word translated jointly with the next one as ‘therewith’ and ‘with it’)
  • هٖ — He — His (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid; here rain)
  • نَبَاتَ — Na-baa-ta — Vegetation (= n., Foliage; flora; greenery; plant life; shrubbery. A/t/a, ‘Vegetation,’ ‘buds of … (plants),’ ‘growth,’ ‘buds’ and ‘plants’ )
  • كُلِّ — Kool-lay — All (= n., All; altogether; everyone; everything without any exception; in every manner; total; very much; whole. A/t/a, ‘all’ and ‘every’)
  • شَىۡءٍ — Shai-in — Thing (= n., s., Anything at all however little or insignificant. A whit. Smallest part of an article, item, object, material, thing, matter, type, phenomenon or stuff. To the least extent. Also, Some, something or somewhat. A/t/a, ‘kinds,’ ‘kind’ and ‘plant’)

  • مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among; from; out of many. See  مِنَ  above. A/t/a, ‘out of’ and ‘which.’ Also, this and the next word are translated together as ‘wherefrom’)
  • هُ — Ho — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. See  هُ  above)
  • حَبًّا — Hub-bun — Grain (= n., s., The seed from which sprouts the plant for crops     like barley, corn or kernel, lentils, rice, wheat, etc. A/t/a, ‘grain’ and ‘grains’)

  • دَانِيَةٌ — Daa-nay-ya-toon Very near (= adj., ‘Hanging low and near,’ ‘hanging low,’ ‘spring pendant,’ ‘(hanging) low’ and ‘within reach’)

  • جَنّٰتٍ — Jun-na-tin — Gardens (= n., pl., Big grove; Coppice. Thicket. Garden of ultimate and everlasting beauty and greenery. Place of immense beauty, peace and tranquility which is beyond human comprehension. The Heavens. The Orchard. A/t/a, ‘gardens’ [almost all authors, except the one who has translated this word into ‘yards’ saying ‘vineyards,’ ‘groves’ saying ‘olive groves,’ and ‘all manners of’ saying ‘all manners of pomegranates’)
  • مِّنۡ — Min — From (= Among, out of many. See  مِنَ  above. A/t/a, ‘of’)
  •  اَعۡنَابٍ — Au-naa-bin — Grapes (= n., pl., Vines)
  • وَّ  — Wa … (uz) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • الزَّيۡتُوۡنَ — Zai-too-nun — The olive (= n., Olive-tree; olive fruit tree)
  • وَ  — Wa … (ur) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • الرُّمَّانَ — Room-maa-na — The pomegranate (= n., A kind of fruit. A/t/a, ‘pomegranate’ and ‘pomegranates’)
  • مُشۡتَبِ — Moosh-ta-bay — Alike (= Adj., Like. Looking similar. Similar. With resemblance in looks but different in tastes. A/t/a, ‘like,’ ‘each similar (in kind),’ ‘similar,’ ‘some similar’ and ‘similar (in kind)’  
  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person. The aforesaid groups of fruits)
  • وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above. A/t/a, ‘yet’)
  • غَيۡرَ — Ghai-ra — Without (= Besides; else; excluding; not; other than; out of; prohibiting; without)

A/t/a, ‘similar.’ But this word together with the prior word has also been  translated as ‘unlike,’ ‘some dissimilar,’ ‘different (in variety),’ ‘dissimilar (from one another in variety),’ ‘different’ and   ‘different (in variety and taste)’ 
  • هٍ‌ — Hin — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to its inner qualities and characteristics of the fruits)
  • اُنْظُرُوۡۤا — Oon-zo-roo — You look (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Check out; find; get to view; look at; look out; observe; see; take notice; understand; view; watch for. A/t/a, ‘Look,’ ‘Look upon,’ ‘Feast your eyes,’ ‘Observe’ and ‘Behold’)
  • اِلَى  – Elaa — To (= In the direction of; to; towards. A/t/a, ‘with,’ at’ and ‘when’)
  • ثَمَرَ  — Tha-ma-ra — A fruit (= n., s., Edible harvest from the trees; blessing. A/t/a, ‘fruit’ and ‘the fruit of every kind of tree’)

  • اِنَّ — In-na — Certainly (= Absolutely; clearly, decidedly; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really; surely; truly; verily. A/t/a, ‘Behold!’ and ‘Lo’ )
  • فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Amidst. Among. Contained or inside a duration, event, place, period, person, phenomenon, situation, thing or time. Also, about; concerning; in reference, regarding, relative to. See Note 002:028)
  • ذٰ لِكُمُ — Zaa-lay-koom — This is your (= This is a combination of three words.  ذٰ  means This. لِ  means for the object, person, purpose or reason. And كُمۡ  means you all. The combination means this is for you or yours. A/t/a, ‘this,’ ‘these,’ ‘these things,’ ‘in all this’ and ‘therein’)
  • لَ — La — Surely (= Certainly; definitely; truly, verily)
  • اٰيٰتٍ — Aa-ya-tin — Signs (= n., pl of … An argument, corroboration, indication, insinuation, pointer, portent, prof, sign, suggestion, symbol or token. See Note 002:074. A/t/a, ‘Signs,’ ‘portents’ and ‘There are Signs’)
  • لِ — Lay — For (= For the object, purpose or reason of. See  لَ  above)
  • قَوۡمٍ — Qao-min — People (= n., s., Addressees; attendees; fellows; followers; folks.  A/t/a, ‘people’ and ‘a people’)
  • يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ — Yoe-may-noo-na — They Believe (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Enter faith; follow the Holy Qor-aan and Iss-laam. See Commentary Believe and Disbelieve. A/t/a, ‘who believe,’ ‘who would believe,’ and ‘true believers’)

 

 

** Note 006100. The word  اَخۡرَجۡ  (verb in the past tense and single 3rd person) means he or it produced. It spoke of a prior event that occurred, like rain fell from sky and grew greenery.

The word  نُّخۡرِجُ  (verb in the present tense and plural 1st person) means We produce. It states a rule of universal application that Allah produces grains and seeds from grown greenery.

Translating these two verbs – one in the past tense and the other in the present tense — the same way as We produce is incorrect. It shows the translator’s failure to distinguish that these two words are different.

وَ هُوَ الَّذِىۡۤ اَنۡشَاَكُمۡ مِّنۡ نَّفۡسٍ وَّاحِدَةٍ فَمُسۡتَقَرٌّ وَّمُسۡتَوۡدَعٌ‌  ؕ قَدۡ فَصَّلۡنَا الۡاٰيٰتِ لِقَوۡمٍ يَّفۡقَهُوۡنَ

 

Wa-ho-wul-la-zee-un-shaa-koom-min-nuf-sin-waa-hay-da-tin                                              Fa-moos-ta-qur-roon-wa-moos-tao-da-oon                                                                                    Fa-qud-fus-sul-nul-aa-yaa-tay-lay-qao-min-yuf-qa-hoo-n

 

And He is the one who multiplied you from one person.                                            Then there’s a place to stay awhile and a place to stay forever.                                We surely have explained the Signs for the understanding people.

وَهُوَ الَّذِىۡ جَعَلَ لَـكُمُ النُّجُوۡمَ لِتَهۡتَدُوۡا بِهَا فِىۡ ظُلُمٰتِ الۡبَرِّ وَالۡبَحۡرِ‌ؕ قَدۡ فَصَّلۡنَا الۡاٰيٰتِ لِقَوۡمٍ يَّعۡلَمُوۡنَ

 

Wa-ho-wul-la-zee-ja-aa-la-la-ko-moon-no-joo-ma                                                                  Lay-tah-ta-do-bay-haa-fee-zo-lo-maa-til-bur-ray-wul-bah-ray                                         Qud-fus-sul-nul-aa-yaa-tay-lay-qao-min-yau-la-moo-n

 

And He is the One who has made for you the stars                                                          For guiding yourself with it in the darkness of the land and the water.              We surely have explained the Signs for the knowing people.

  • لِ — Lay — For (= For the object, purpose or reason of. See  لَ  above. A/t/a,  ‘so that’ and ‘that’)
  • تَهۡتَدُوۡا — Tuh-ta-doo — Guiding yourself (= v., pres., 2nd person. Going rightly and properly on correct course, proper path or true track. A/t/a, ‘you might follow the right way, ’ ‘you may follow the right direction,’  ’you may follow the right guidance,’ ‘you may follow the right course,‘ ‘you may guide your course,’ ‘ye may guide your course,’ ye may guide yourself’ and ‘they may guide you’)
  • بِهَا — Bay-haa — With it (= Combination of two words. The 1st word is  بِ  (bay) that means with, though some contexts show that the English proposition ‘in’ is also suitable. فَالِقُ الۡاِصۡبَاحِ‌ۚ  وَ جَعَلَ الَّيۡلَ سَكَنًا وَّالشَّمۡسَ وَالۡقَمَرَ حُسۡبَانًا‌ ؕ ذٰلِكَ تَقۡدِيۡرُ الۡعَزِيۡزِ الۡعَلِيۡمِ‏

 

Faa-lay-qool-iss-baa-ha-wa                                                                                                              Ja-aa-lul-lai-la-sa-ka-nun-wa(ush)                                                                                                    Ush-sham-sa-wul-qa-ma-ra-hoo-baa-naa                                                                                        Za-lay-ka-tuq-de-rool-aa-zee-zil-aa-lee-m

 

The splitter of the mornings and                                                                                            He made the night for peace                                                                                                    And the sun and the moon for measuring time.                                                                This is the destiny determined by the Mightiest, the Most Knowing.

اِنَّ اللّٰهَ فَالِقُ الۡحَبِّ وَالنَّوٰى ‌ؕ  يُخۡرِجُ الۡحَىَّ مِنَ الۡمَيِّتِ وَمُخۡرِجُ الۡمَيِّتِ مِنَ الۡحَىِّ    ذٰ لِكُمُ اللّٰهُ‌ فَاَنّٰى تُؤۡفَكُوۡنَ ‏‌ؕ

 

In-nul-laa-ha-faa-lay-qool-hub-bay-wun-na-waa                                                                  Yookh-ray-jool-huy-ya-may-nul-muy-yay-tay                                                                            Wa-mookh-ray-jool-muy-yay-tay-may-nul-huy-yay                                                                    Zaa-lay-ko-mool-laa-ho-fa-un-naa-toe-fa-koo-n

 

Surely Allah is the splitter of the grain and the date-stone.                                        He brings out the living from the dead                                                                                And is the One Who brings out the dead from the living.                                            This is your Allah. Then how can you fabricate anything?

  • الۡحَىَّ — Huy-ya — The living (= n., Alive; full of life. A/t/a, ‘living’)

  • ٱلۡمَيِّتِ — Muy-ya-tay — The dead (= n., Deceased; decedent; lifeless; with no life)

  • مُخۡرِجُ — Mookh-ra-jo — One Who brings out (= n., Extractor; One who brings or gets out; grower. A/t/a, ‘it is He Who,’ ‘To cause … To issue’ and ‘bringer forth.’ Authors Amat-ul-Rahman Omar,  Dr Ahmad Zidan, Dr Muhsin Khan and Dr Taqi-ud-Din Al-Hilali failed to see that  يُخۡرِجُ  and  مُخۡرِجُ  are two different words when they translated both of them the same as ‘He brings forth.’ And author N J Dawood did not even translate this word)
  • ٱلۡمَيِّتِ — Muy-ya-tay — The dead (= n., Deceased; decedent; lifeless. See  ٱلۡمَيِّتِ  above)
  • مِنَ — May-n … (ul) — From (= Out of a class or category of several things)
  • الۡحَىَّ — Huy-ya — The Living (= n., Alive; full of life. See  الۡحَىَّ  above)
  • ذٰ لِكُمُ — Zaa-lay-ko-mo(l) — This is your (= This is a combination of three words. ذٰ means This.   لِ  means for the object, person, purpose or reason. And   كُمۡ   means you all. The combination means this is you or your. A/t/a, ‘This is your,’ ‘That is your’ and ‘such is your’)

وَلَقَدۡ جِئۡتُمُوۡنَا فُرَادٰى كَمَا خَلَقۡنٰكُمۡ اَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَّتَرَكۡتُمۡ مَّا خَوَّلۡنٰكُمۡ وَرَآءَ ظُهُوۡرِكُمۡ  وَمَا نَرٰى مَعَكُمۡ شُفَعَآءَكُمُ الَّذِيۡنَ زَعَمۡتُمۡ اَنَّهُمۡ فِيۡكُمۡ شُرَكٰٓؤُا‌ ؕ  لَقَدْ تَّقَطَّعَ بَيۡنَكُمۡ وَضَلَّ عَنۡكُمۡ مَّا كُنۡتُمۡ تَزۡعُمُوۡنَ

 

Wa-la-qud-jae-to-moo-naa-fo-raa-daa                                                                                            Ka-maa-kha-luq-naa-koom-auw-wa-la-mur-ra-tin                                                                      Wa-ta-ruk-toom-maa-khuw-wul-naa-koom-wa-raa-aa-za-hoo-ray-koom

Wa-maa-na-raa-ma-aa-koom-sho-fa-aa-ko-mool-la-zee-na                                                    Za-um-toom-un-na-hoom-fee-koom-sha-ra-koo

La-qud-ta-cut-ta-aa-bai-na-koom                                                                                                    Wa-dzul-la-un-koom                                                                                                                            Maa-koon-toom-tuz-aa-moo-n

 

And most certainly you came to Us alone                                                                    Like what We had created you the first time                                                                  And you left what We entrusted you behind your backs.

And We saw with you none of your intercessors whom                                                You claimed that they were partners regarding you.

Most certainly cut between you                                                                                              And strayed of course for you                                                                                                 Is what you used to assert.

  • نَآ — Naa — Us (= pro., pl., 1st person. Our; Us. Used with God’s name this plural is the authoritative way a higher-up talks)
  • فُرَادٰى — Fo-raa-daa — Alone (= adv. All by yourself; individually; singly. A/t/a, ‘all  alone,’ ‘alone,’ ‘bare and alone,’ ‘alone (without companions or anything else),’ ‘one by one’ and ‘solitary’)
  • كَمَا — Ka-maa — Like what (= Combination of two words; the first  كَ  (ka) means like, identical, resembling or similar; the second  مَاۤ  (maa) means all that, what, whatever or whatsoever. Jointly the words mean like that, just like, just the way. A/t/a, ‘as’)

وَمَنۡ اَظۡلَمُ مِمَّنِ افۡتَـرٰى عَلَى اللّٰهِ كَذِبًا اَوۡ قَالَ اُوۡحِىَ اِلَىَّ وَلَمۡ يُوۡحَ اِلَيۡهِ شَىۡءٌ وَّمَنۡ قَالَ سَاُنۡزِلُ مِثۡلَ مَاۤ اَنۡزَلَ اللّٰهُ ‌ؕ وَلَوۡ تَرٰٓى اِذِ الظّٰلِمُوۡنَ فِىۡ غَمَرٰتِ الۡمَوۡتِ وَالۡمَلٰٓٮِٕكَةُ بَاسِطُوۡۤا اَيۡدِيۡهِمۡ ‌ۚ اَخۡرِجُوۡۤا اَنۡفُسَكُمُ ‌ؕ اَلۡيَوۡمَ تُجۡزَوۡنَ عَذَابَ الۡهُوۡنِ بِمَا كُنۡتُمۡ تَقُوۡلُوۡنَ عَلَى اللّٰهِ غَيۡرَ الۡحَـقِّ وَكُنۡتُمۡ عَنۡ اٰيٰتِهٖ تَسۡتَكۡبِرُوۡنَ

 

Wa  mun  uz-la-mo  mim-may  nif-ta-raa  aa-lul  laa-hay  ka-zay-bun                                Auo  qaa-la  oo-hay-ya  aiy-luy-ya  wa-lum-yoo-ha  aiy-laiy-hay  shai-oon                          Wa  mun  qaa-la  sa-oon-zay-lo  mith-la  maa  un-za-la  ul-laa-ho

Wa  lao  ta-raa  aiy-ziz-zaa-lay-moo-na  fee  gha-ma-raa-tay il-mo-tay                                Wul  maa-laa-aiy-ka-to  baa-say-too  aiy-dee-him                                                                    Ukh-ra-joo  un-fo-sa  ko-mool                                                                                                              Yao-ma  tooj-zao-na  aa-zaa-ba  ul-hoo-nay  bay-maa                                                              Koon-toom  ta-qoo-loo-na  aa-la  ul-laa-hay  ghai-ra  ul-huq-qay                                            Wa  koon-toom  un  aa-yaa-tay  he  tus-tuk-bay-roo-n

 

And who is more unfair than the one who concocted a lie against Allah                Or said, “It has been revealed upon me,” and nothing was revealed upon him.  And who said, “Soon I will entrust like what Allah has entrusted.”

And if you could see the wrongdoers in the pangs of death                                          And the angels stretching their hands toward them,                                              Saying, “Give up your souls.                                                                                            This day you are given a humiliating punishment because                                    You have been saying against Allah without justification                                      And you have been acting cocky about His signs.”

وَهٰذَا كِتٰبٌ اَنۡزَلۡنٰهُ مُبٰرَكٌ مُّصَدِّقُ الَّذِىۡ بَيۡنَ يَدَيۡهِ وَلِتُنۡذِرَ اُمَّ الۡقُرٰى وَمَنۡ حَوۡلَهَا‌  ؕ وَالَّذِيۡنَ يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ بِالۡاٰخِرَةِ يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ بِهٖ‌ وَهُمۡ عَلٰى صَلَاتِهِمۡ يُحَافِظُوۡنَ

 

Wa-haa-zaa-kay-taa-boon-un-zul-naa-ho                                                                                      Mo-baa-ra-koon-mo-sud-day-qol-la-ze-bai-na-ya-de-hay                                                          Wa-lay-toon-zay-ra-oom-mool-qo-raa-wa-mun-hao-la-haa                                                      Wul-la-zee-na-yoe-may-noo-na-bil-aa-khay-ra-tay                                                                    Yoe-may-noo-na-bay-he                                                                                                                    Wa-hoom-alaa-sua-laa-tay-him-yo-haa-fay-zoo-n

 

And We entrusted this Book                                                                                                  Blessed and fulfilling what was before it,                                                                        And for you to warn the mother of towns and those around it                                  And those who believe in the Hereafter                                                                    Believe in it.                                                                                                                                  And they guard upon their prayers.

The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                006:092

 

وَمَا قَدَرُوا اللّٰهَ حَقَّ قَدۡرِهٖۤ اِذۡ قَالُوۡا مَاۤ اَنۡزَلَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى بَشَرٍ مِّنۡ شَىۡءٍ ؕ  قُلۡ مَنۡ اَنۡزَلَ الۡـكِتٰبَ الَّذِىۡ جَآءَ بِهٖ مُوۡسٰى نُوۡرًا وَّ هُدًى لِّلنَّاسِ‌ تَجۡعَلُوۡنَهٗ قَرَاطِيۡسَ تُبۡدُوۡنَهَا وَتُخۡفُوۡنَ كَثِيۡـرًا‌ ۚ  وَعُلِّمۡتُمۡ مَّا لَمۡ تَعۡلَمُوۡۤا اَنۡتُمۡ وَلَاۤ اٰبَآؤُكُمۡ ‌ؕ  قُلِ اللّٰهُ‌ۙ ثُمَّ ذَرۡهُمۡ فِىۡ خَوۡضِهِمۡ يَلۡعَبُوۡنَ

 

Wa-maa-qa-da-rool-laa-ha-huq-qa-qud-ray-he-iz                                                                  Qaa-loo-maa-un-za-lul-laa-ho-aa-laa-bush-rin-min-shai-in

Qool-mun-un-za-lul-kay-taa-bul-la-zee-jaa-aa-bay-he                                                                Moo-sa-noo-run-wa-ho-dun-lin-naa-say-tuj-aa-loo-na-hoo                                                      Qa-raa-tee-sa-toob-do-na-haa-wa-tookh-foo-na-ka-the-run                                                  Wa-ul-lum-toom-maa-lum-tau-la-moo-un-toom-wa-laa-aa-baa-o-koom

Qo-lil-laa-ho-thoom-ma-zur-hoom-fee-khao-zay-him-yul-aa-boon

 

And they valued not Allah with real value due to Him when they said,            “Allah has not entrusted to any man anything.”

Say, “Who sent down the Book — with which came                                                        Moses — as the Light and Guidance for the people                                                        That you make into scrolls — you show some but hide a lot —                               And you were taught which neither you nor your fathers learnt.”

Say, “Allah.” Then leave them playing in their own vain activity.

 

The fact stated in the next seven (7) words is repeated in verses 006:092 and 039:068.

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — Not (= Never; no; none; not at all)
  • قَدَرُوا — Qa-da-roo(l) — Valued (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Acknowledged; appreciated;  determined; estimated; evaluated. Measured abilities, capacities and faculties. A/t/a, ‘They (- the deniers’ have … appreciated’ and ‘they (the Jews, Quraish pagans, idolaters) did not estimate.’ But ‘attach,’ ‘do … appreciate,’ ‘Do they made,’ ‘make,’  ‘They have …notion’ and ‘they measure … the power of’ in the present tense, and ‘honour’ which is a noun, are not the accurate translations of what is stated in the Holy Qor-aan)
  • ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • حَقَّ — Huq-qa — Real (= adj., Appropriate. As it must be. Due. Equitable. Exact.               Fair. Genuine. Just. Precise. Proper. Reasonable. Right. True. Note 003:103. A/t/a, ‘just,’ ‘due to,’ ‘justly,’ ‘true’ and ‘proper’)
  • قَدۡرِ  — Qud-ray — Precious value (= n., Evaluation. Good measure. Honor. Measurement. Solid or total value. A/t/a, ‘estimate,’ ‘an estimation,’ ‘honour,’ ‘glory,’ ‘attributes’ and ‘measure’)
  • هٖ — He — Him  (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the Almighty God. A/t/a, ‘Him’)
  • اِذۡ — Iz — When (= At the time or event; call to mind; recall; remember; think of the time, event, occasion or opportunity. Also, behold; consider; ponder over; reflect)
  • قَالُوۡا — Qaa-loo — They said (= v., past, s., m., 3rd person. Announced; broadcast; called  conveyed; declared; described; elaborated; explained; maintained; specified; stated; told. A/t/a, ‘they said.’ But the present tense used in ‘they say’  and ‘Those who say’ is not what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — Not (= Never; no; none; not all. A/t/a, ‘Nothing’ and ‘naught’)
  • اَنۡزَلَ — Un-za-la — He entrusted (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Dispatched; gave; granted; inspired; revealed; handed; laid; landed; lowered; sent or poured down. Also, delivered; provided; released; supplied. See Note 002:005a. A/t/a, ‘doth … send down  … (by way of revelation),’ ‘has … revealed,’ and ‘did … send down … (by Revelation)’
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho  — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • عَلٰى– Alaa — On (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; on top of; over; to; upon)
  • بَشَرٍ — Ba-sha-rin — Man (= n., Human being; man; mortal; person. A/t/a, ‘any man )
  • مِّنۡ — Min — From  (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon)
  • شَىۡءٍ — Shai-in — Anything (= Anything at all however little or insignificant. A whit. Not the least. Smallest part of an article, item, object, material, thing, matter, type, phenomenon or stuff. To the least extent. Also, Some, something or somewhat)
  • قُلۡ — Qool — Say = v., pres., s, 2nd person. Announce, ask; call; convey; inform; persist; preach; proclaim; question; specify, state; teach, tell. See Notes 112:002 and Commentary ‘you say’ means.’ A/t/a, ‘say (O Muhammad s.a.w),’ ‘say (unto the Jews who speak that)’ and ‘Ask them’)
  • مَنۡ — Mun — Who (= Anyone; whoever; whom; whomever; whoso)
  • اَنۡزَلَ — Un-za-la — Sent down (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Dispatched. See اَنۡزَلَ  above)
  • الۡـكِتٰبَ — Kay-taa-ba — The Book (= n., The Divine Directive of Commands, Prohibitions  and Regulations. Holy Scripture. See verse. A/t/a, ‘the Scripture’)
  • الَّذِىۡ — La-zee — Which (= s., m., 3rd person. Which article, thing or person; he; who)
  • جَآءَ — Jaa-aa — Came (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Arrived; reached; returned. In different contexts the word can mean achieved, brought, delivered, settled or succeeded. A/t/a, ‘brought’ and brought down’)
  • بِ — Bay — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with)
  • هٖ — He — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid Book)
  • مُوۡسٰى — Moo-sa — Moses (= The name of a Messenger / Prophet of Allah. A/t/a,‘Musa (Moses)’
  • نُوۡرًا — Noo-run — Light (= n., Beam; brightness; glow; luminosity; radiance. A/t/a, ‘light and guidance’ [this and next word most authors])
  • وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • هُدًى — Ho-dun — Guidance (= n., The action, direction, instruction, means or set up  to show the best beacon, correct course, enlightened entry, linear lines, proper path, right road, wise ways or the knowledge about what is most appropriate)
  • لِ — Lay…(in) — For (= For the object, person, purpose or reason of; intended; for; meant for; on account of; concerning; regarding; relative to. A/t/a, ‘to’)
  • لنَّاسِ‌ — Naa-say — The people (= Factions; folks, mankind, groups of men, nations or  tribes. Human beings. Add where necessary All people regardless of color, creed, culture or country of origin. A/t/a, ‘to men’ and mankind’)
  • تَجۡعَلُوۡنَ — Tuj-a-loo-na — You make (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Appoint; bring out; cause; convert; create; direct; establish; place; set up; will. See Note 002:031. A/t/a, ‘ye make,’ ‘you make,’ ‘you have reduced,’ ‘you treat,’ ‘ye have put on,’ ‘you have transcribed,’ ‘you (the Jews) have made,’ ‘though you treat’ and ‘(though) you render.’ However, the past tense in ‘you divided’ is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the present tense)  
  • هٗ — Hoo — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid Light and Guidance. A/t/a, ‘which’)
  • قَرَاطِيۡسَ — Qa-raa-te-sa — Scrolls (= n., pl., Paper; print; written material; writings. A/t/a, ‘as scraps of paper,’ ‘on scraps of paper,’‘(scattered) papers,’ ‘scraps and bits,’ ‘parchments,’ ‘(separate) sheets,’ ‘into (separate) paper sheets’ and ‘into fragments’)
  • تُبۡدُوۡنَ ‏ — Toob-do-na — You reveal (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Announce; broadcast; convey; declare; demonstrate; disclose; expose; make known to others; manifest; proclaim; publicize; publish; show; tell others. A/t/a, ‘you show,’ ‘ye show,’ ‘you show to the people,’ ‘for show,’ disclosing (some of it) and ‘declaring some of’)
  • هَا — Haa —  It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to aforesaid scrolls. A/t/a, ‘some of it,’ ‘which,’ ‘some of which’ and ‘them’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above. A/t/a, ‘While’ and ‘but’)
  • تُخۡفُواْ — Tookh-foo-na — You conceal (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Give secretly; hide. Keep private, under cover, secret or surreptitiously. A/t/a, ‘you conceal,’ ‘ye conceal,’  ‘you hide,’ ‘you hide from them,’ ‘ye hide,’ ‘suppressing’ and ‘concealing’)
  • كَثِيرً۬ا — Ka-thee-raa — A lot (= Adj., Abundant. Ample. Bigger, greater or larger in number, quality or quantity. Good or great deal. Many.  Much more. Overflow. Plump. Plentiful. Repetitious. Several times higher. Without cease. Without stint. A/t/a, ‘much (of its content),’ ‘much,’ ‘much of it,’ much (thereof),’ ‘much  thereof,’ ‘the major portion’ and ‘most of it’)
  • وَ —  Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above. A/t/a, ‘though,’ ‘whereas’ ‘and although’)
  • عُلِّمۡ — Ool-lim — Taught (= v., past., pl., 2nd person. Coached, directed; educated, guided, instructed, mandated, ordained, prescribed, taught, trained and tutored with knowledge. A/t/a, ‘are  taught,’ ‘were taught,’ ‘were taught (through the Qur’an),’ ‘have been taught’ and ‘have now been taught’)
  • تُمۡ — Toom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You. The Holy Qor-aan has jointly addressed men and women this way. A/t/a, ‘ye’  and ‘you (believers in Allah and His Messenger Muhammad s.a.w)’

The fact stated in the next three (7) words is repeated in verses 006:092 and

  • مَّا — Maa — What (= All that; whatever; which .A/t/a, ‘that’ and ‘that knowledge which’)
  • لَمۡ — Lum — Not (= Never; no; none; not all. A/t/a, ‘neither’)
  • تَعۡلَمُوۡۤا — Tau-la-moo — You learnt (= v., past., pl., 2nd person. Were coached, instructed or taught. A/t/a, ‘you knew not,’ ‘you … knew,’ ‘ye knew,’ ‘you did … know’ and ‘possessed’)
  • اَنۡـتُمۡ — Un-toom — Surely you (= pro., pl., 2nd person. This is a combination of اِنۡ (Un)   that means absolutely, clearly, really, surely, truly or verily and تُمۡ (toom) that is for the pronoun you. A/t/a, ‘ye … yourselves’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • لَا — Laa — No (= Naught; neither; never; none; nor; not at all; absolute denial and total negation without exception. A/t/a, ‘nor (did) … (know it)’ and ‘nor’)
  • اٰبَآؤُ — Aa-baa-o — Fathers (= n., pl., Ancestors; forefathers; parent. A/t/a, ‘your fathers,’  ‘your fathers knew’ and ‘your forefathers’)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You. See  تُمۡ   above)                
  • قُلِ — Qo-l … il) — Say (= v., s, 2nd person. Announce. Answer. Reply. See قُلۡ above. A/t/a, ‘say to them’)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God. A/t/a, ‘God (sent it down),’ ‘Allah (sent it down),’ It was revealed by Allah,’ ‘Allah revealed it’ and ‘It was surely Allah who revealed them’)
  • ثُمَّ  — Thoom-ma — Then (= After that; further more; subsequently; thereafter)
  • ذَرۡ — Zur  — Leave (= v., pres., s., 2nd person. Abandon; avoid; discard; pass; quit; reject. See Note 002:279)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Amidst. Among. Contained or inside a duration, event, place, period, person, phenomenon, situation, thing or time. Also, about; concerning; in reference, regarding, relative to. See Note 002:028)
  • خَوۡضِ — Khao-dzay —  Complaining (= n., Carping. Fruitless, useless or wasteful acts or deeds. Niggling. Splitting hairs. Vain activity. A/t/a, ‘idle talk,’ ‘falsehood,’ ‘caviling,’ ‘vain discourse,’ vain discourse and trifling,’ ‘vain discussions. (Tafsir Al-Qurtubi)’ and ‘foolish chatter’)
  • هِمۡ — Him — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • يَلۡعَبُوۡنَ — Yul-aa-boo-n — They play (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Amuse; have fun; joke; kid; jest; occupy. Challenge, compete and beat each other. A/t/a, ‘sporting,’ ‘amusing themselves,’ ‘to disport with,’ ‘to amuse themselves with,’ ‘to play,’ to plunge’ and ‘to churn’)

The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                   006:091

 

اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ الَّذِيۡنَ هَدَى اللّٰهُ‌ فَبِهُدٰٮهُمُ اقۡتَدِهۡ ‌ؕ قُلْ لَّاۤ اَسۡــَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ اَجۡرًا ‌ ؕ اِنۡ هُوَ اِلَّا ذِكۡرٰى لِلۡعٰلَمِيۡنَ

 

O-laa-aiy-kul-la-zee-na-ha-dul-laa-ho                                                                                              Fa-bay-ho-da-ho-mooq-ta-deh                                                                                                        Qool-laa-us-aa-lo-koom-alai-hay-uj-run                                                                                          In-ho-wa-il-laa-zik-raa-lil-aa-la-mee-n

 

These are those that Allah has guided.                                                                               So, from their Guidance you follow.                                                                               Say, “I don’t ask you for any reward for it.                                                                        This surely is nothing but a reminder for all creation.” 

 

  • اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ — O-laa-aiy-ka — All of these (= Acts; facts, items, persons or things A/t/a, ‘these were the (Prophets),’ These are,’ ’These it is’ and ‘It is these’)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to those articles, persons or or phenomenon in masculine gender. A/t/a, ‘the ones whom,’ ‘they whom,’ ‘those   whom’ and ‘whom’)
  • هَدَى — Ha-da … (ul) — Guided (= v., past., m., s. 3rd person. Coddled on correct course; directed accurately towards the best way; gave the best direction; guided to and led on the linier lines; put on the proper path; showed the right road. A/t/a, ‘guided aright, ‘has guided’ and ‘had guided.’ But the present tense in ‘guideth’ and the verb in the passive voice and the noun in ‘Who received God’s guidance’ are no translations of the text in the Holy Qor-aan)
  • اللّٰهُ‌ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • فَ — Fa — So (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; in conclusion; so; then; thereafter; therefore; thus)
  • بِ  — Bay — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with)
  • هُدٰ — Ho-daa — Guidance (= n., See هَدَى above for the meanings of this derivate)
  • هُمُ — Ho-mo …. (oq) Their (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • اقۡتَدِ — Ooq-ta-de … (h) — You follow (= v., pres., 2nd person. Follow the lead; reap benefit; take advantage. A/t/a, ‘do thou follow,’ ‘follow thou’ and ‘Copy the guidance they received’)
  • هۡ — Eh — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid guidance)
  • قُلۡ — Qool — Say (= v., pres., s, 2nd person. Announce, assure; call; convey; explain; inform; insist; preach; proclaim; profess; propagate; specify, state; tell. See Note 112:002 and Commentary ‘You say’ means‘. A/t/a, ‘Say to these people’ and ‘Say (O Muhammad, unto mankind)’
  • لَا — Laa — Do not (= Naught; neither; never; none; nor; not at all; absolute denial and total negation without exception)
  • اَسۡــَٔـلُ — Us-aa-loo — I ask (= v., pres., s., 1st person. Beseech; beg; implore; pray; Seek. Some contexts warrant the meanings of craving, desiring or wishing to have. A/t/a, ‘I  demand’)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You. The Holy Qor-aan has often used this word for both men and women. A/t/a, ‘of you’)
  • عَلَيۡ — Alai — For (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; on top of; over)
  • هِ — Hay — It (= pro., s., 3rd person. Refers to a reward for good deeds. A/t/a, ‘this (the Quran)’ and ‘bringing this (guidance)’
  • اَجۡرًا — Uj-run — Reward (= n., s. Award; compensation; good result; gracious gift; honor; prize; recognition; recompense; reimbursement; remuneration; reward; trophy. A/t/a, ‘fee’)
  • اِنۡ — In — Surely (= Absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; truly; verily)
  • هُوَ — Ho-wa — This (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. He; him; it; this thing or person. A/t/a, ‘It is’ and ‘This is’)
  • اَلَّا — Il-laa — Nothing but (= Except; saving. A/t/a, ‘This is no less than,’ ‘naught but,’ ‘nought but,’ ‘nothing but,’ ‘but’ and ‘only’)
  • ذِكۡرٰى — Zik-raa — Reminder (= n., Admonition; refreshing memory; bringing to or  drawing attention; reminder; reminding. Helping  someone to recall and remember something forgotten. Jogging memory. Making another aware. Urging another to remember. Warning. Also, recalling; recollection; reflection’ remembrance; remembrance; remembering. A/t/a, ‘A message’ and ‘admonition’)
  • لِلۡ — L … (il) — For / to (= Concerning, regarding; relative to; intended for; to; towards. A/t/a, ‘for’ and ‘to’)
  • الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَۙ‏ — Aa-la-meen — The Worlds (= n., pl., In relation to man the word implies being limited to time and place. It means the Worlds, the whole world of the Age, nations of the time, contemporaries in towns or territory of a known period, and people in given cities or countries. See Note 001:002. A/t/a, ‘the nations,’ ‘all mankind,’ ‘(His) creatures’ and ‘the Alamin (mankind and jinn)’
