Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                                 002:023

الَّذِىۡ جَعَلَ لَـكُمُ الۡاَرۡضَ فِرَاشًا وَّالسَّمَآءَ بِنَآءً وَّاَنۡزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَاَخۡرَجَ بِهٖ مِنَ الثَّمَرٰتِ رِزۡقًا لَّـكُمۡ‌ۚ فَلَا تَجۡعَلُوۡا لِلّٰهِ اَنۡدَادًا وَّاَنۡـتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ

Ul-la-zee-ja-aa-la-la-ko-mool-ur-dza-fay-raa-shun                                                                      Wus-sa-maa-aa-bay-naa-un                                                                                                              Wa-un-za-la-may-nus-sa-maa-aiy-maa-un                                                                                    Fa-ukh-ra-ja-bay-he-may-nuth-tha-ma-raa-tay-riz-qunl-la-koom                                           Fa-laa-tuj-aa-loo-lil-laa-hay-un-daa-dun-wa-un-toom-tau-la-moo-n.

He is the One Who has set up for you the earth as a bed                                         And the sky as a canopy.                                                                                                          And He poured down water from the sky.                                                                      Then with that He produced from all kinds of fruits food for you.                          So never set up equals to Allah and you know (= knowingly).

• الَّذِىۡ — Ul-la-zee — He who (= s., m., 3rd person. Reference is to God Almighty)
  
• جَعَلَ  — Ja-aa-la — Set up (= v., p., Appointed; brought into being; created; designed; fashioned; made; produced.  See also 078:007)

• کُمُ — Ko-mo..(ol) — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You men. Generally this way the Holy Qor-aan addresses both men and women)
  
• الۡاَرۡضِ  — Ur-dza — Earth – (=1- Area; country; earth; ground; land; territory. 2- Life on earth, nation; people or society in general)
• فِرَاشًا — Fay-raa-shun — As a bed (= Bottom; floor; ground; resting-place; spread)
• وَّ — Wa…(us) — And (= Conj., Connects words, phrases.  See وَّ above)
  
• السَّمَآءَ — Sa-maa-a — The sky (= Cloud; all above ground or earth; heavens)
• بِنَآءً — Bay-naa-un  — As a canopy (= Ceiling; couch; cover; dome; edifice; roof; structure; top)
• وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., Connects words, phrases or clauses; also; but; additionally; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  
• اَنۡزَلَ — Un-za-la — Poured down (= v., past., s., 3^rd person In relation to the rain from the sky .. Caused to come down. Landed, lowered or sent down.  Delivered, dispatched, gave, provided, showered) 
• مِنَ — May-n…(us) — From (= From the class, category or count of; out of)
•  السَّمَآءِ — Sa-maa-aiy — The sky (= Cloud; all above ground or earth; heavens)
• مَآءً — Maa-un — Water (= H2O; rain; rain water)
  
• فَ — Fa — Then (= Consequently; as a result; so; thereafter; therefore; yet)
• اَخۡرَجَ — Ukh-ra-ja — Produced (= Brought forth; bought into being; developed; grew)
• بِ — Bay — With (= By means of; with the instrumentality of )
• هٖ — He — That (= pro., pl., m & f gender; 3rd person. Refers to ‘the water’)
• مِنَ — May-n…(uth) — From (= From the class, category or count of; out of)
• الثَّمَرٰتِ — Tha-ma-raa-tay — Fruits (= Edible harvest from the trees)
• رِزۡقًا — Riz-qun…(l) — Food — (= Means of subsistence; provision; sustenance)
• لّ  — La — For (= For the benefit, purpose or reason; with intent to or object of
• کُمُ — Koom –You  (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You men. Generally this way the Holy Qor-aan addresses both men and women)
  
• فَ — Fa — So (= Consequently; as a result; then; thereafter; therefore; yet)
• لَّا — Laa — Never (= Absolutely not; not at all)
• تَجۡعَلُوۡا — Tuj-aa-loo — You set up (= v., Create; design; fabricate; join; make)
• لّ — Le…(l) — To (= For; with)
• اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
• اَنۡدَادًا — Un-daa-dun — Equals (= Associates; other gods; partners; rivals)وّ

• اَنۡ — Un — Surely * (= Absolutely;  certainly, definitely, doubtlessly; in all seriousness; indeed; positively, really; truly; verily)
• تُمۡ — Toom — You (= pl., m., 2nd person. You men. Generally this way the Holy Qor-aan addresses both men and women)
  
• تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ — Tau-la-moon — You know * (= v., Are aware; have knowledge; knowingly. The two- worded whole phrase اَنۡتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ means ‘surely you know so very well’. The meanings of last four words can be translated with one word ‘deliberately, intentionally or knowingly‘)
  

** Note 002:023. See commentary titled as “2 pronouns or 1 pro and 1 verb-mean“. The phrase  اَنۡتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ  “un-toom-tau-la-moon” consists of three words.

• The first word اَنۡ (= un) means “Absolutely; certainly; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; in all seriousness; positively; really; surely; truly; verily.”
• The second word تُمۡ  (= toom) is a pronoun (= sing., m., addressee in 2nd person) referring to you.
• The third word تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ (= tau-la-moon) is a verb showing the action ‘of having knowledge’ by you (= sing., m., addressee in 2nd person).
• When a pronoun points to a person, and is followed by a verb which with one of its 14 variations refers to action by that person, the two-worded phrase so created lays an extreme emphasis on the stated action. Thus the phrase اَنۡتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ “un-toom-tau-la-moon” means ‘Surely you’ knew so very well.”
