The Holy Qor-aan                                          078:005                                                ۙ كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُوۡنَ

                Kaul  laa  sa  yau-la-moo-na

               The fact is that soon they will know the truth

• كَلَّا — Kaul-laa — The fact is * (= Absolutely not; fact is; in effect; indeed; instead; like it was never; nay; the reality is)
• سَ — Sa — Soon (= 1. In near term; in near future; in a short while. 2. Briskly; quickly; swiftly)
• يَعۡلَمُوۡنَ — Yau-la-moo-na — Know (= v., pres., pl., 3^rd person. Become aware; get information and knowledge; know the consequence of their calumny and enormity; deliberately; knowingly; with full recognition)

* Note 078:005. The word  كَلَّا  appears to be the combination of two words. كَ means ‘like or as if.’ لَّا means No, not, never. Jointly it means ‘Absolutely not, by no means, indeed, in effect; instead; it cannot be, like it was never, nay, the fact is; the reality is, this should not have been so)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         078:006                                              ۙ‏  ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُوۡنَ

                Thoom-ma  kaul-laa  sa  yau-la-moo-na

                Again, the fact is that soon they will know the truth

• ثُمَّ — Thoom-ma — Then (= After that; further more; subsequently; thereafter)
• كَلَّا — Kaul-laa — The fact is (= Absolutely not; fact is; in effect; indeed; instead; like it was never; nay; the reality is. See Note 078:005)
• سَ — Sa — Soon (= 1. In near term; in near future; in a short while. 2. Briskly; quickly; swiftly)
• يَعۡلَمُوۡنَ — Yau-la-moo-na — Know (= v., pres., pl., 3^rd person. Become aware; get information and knowledge; know the consequence of their calumny and enormity; deliberately; knowingly; with full recognition)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         078:007                                      اَلَمۡ نَجۡعَلِ الۡاَرۡضَ مِهٰدًا ۙ‏

               Aa  laum  nauj-aa-lay  il-aur-dza  may-haa-daun

               Did not We make the earth a bed

• اَ — Aa — Do (= Question mark like Are, Can, Have, Shell or Will?)
• لَمۡ — Laum — Not (= Never; no, not at all)
• نَجۡعَلِ — Nauj-aa-lay … (il) — We Make (= v., pres., pl., 1^st person. Appoint; assign; bring into  being; create; design; fashion; form; set up. In Arabic grammar a verb in the present tense when preceded by لَمۡ (= laum) as in this verse accurately conveys its sense by translating it as if it were a verb in the past tense.  See Note 001:007)
• الۡاَرۡضَ — Ur-dza — Earth (= n., Area; country; earth; ground; land; soil; territory
  Also, life on earth. )
• مِهٰدًا — May-haa-daun — Bed (= n., An abode, bedstead, home, house or residence for long or indefinite period or a hotel, inn or resting place for a brief or definite duration)

* Note 078:007. The word  الۡمَهۡدِ (= mauh-day as in 003:047, 005:111) is in the singular. It is best translated as a bed, bedstead, couch, cot, cradle, crib, divan or spread.

The word  مِهٰدًا  (= may-haa-daun as in 078:007, 002:207, 003:198) is the plural. It is best translated as a point or place of an assembly or collection of many  الۡمَهۡدbeds. It can be for an indefinite, long, permanent or ultimate period like an abode, home, house or residence. Or it can be for a brief, definite, fixed or short duration like a hotel, inn or resting place.

There are other Arabic words like the singular  عبد  (= Aub-doon that means one slave)   which by adding an ا becomes عباد (= Ibaa-doon that means many slaves)      

Almighty God created earth to serv as a bed, cot, cradle, crib, expanse or spread and stabilized it by planting mountains in it as bulwarks, pegs, pillars or stakes. He told this reality repeatedly in different contexts like in 002:023, 013:004, 015:020, 016:016, 078:007/008.

The Holy Qor-aan                                          078:008                                               وَّالۡجِبَالَ اَوۡتَادًا

               Wa  ul-jay-baa-la  auo-taa-daun

               And the mountains a peg

• وَّ — Wa … (ul) — And (= Conj., It links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
• الۡجِبَا لَ — Jay-baa-la — Mountains (= pl., Hills; high plateaus; peaks)
• اَوۡتَادًا — Auo-taa-daun — Peg (= n., s., Bulwark; pillar; a stake supporting and stabilizing from shaking and throwing everything all around)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         078:009                                              وَّخَلَقۡنٰكُمۡ اَزۡوَاجًا

                Wa  kha-lauq  naa  koom  auz-waa-jaun

                And We created you as Spouses

• وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., It links words, phrases or clauses. See ‏ ‏ وَّ above)
• خَلَقۡ — Kha-lauq — Created (= v., past., pl., 1^st person. This word is a combination of two words. The first word is خَلَقۡ (= kha-la-qa = v., past.,  s., 3^rd person) which on its own means He brought into being, created in due proportion, designed from scratch out of nothing, fashioned, formed, gave form and face, produced or shape. The second word is  نَآ  (= naa,= pro., pl., 1^st person) and means we or us, but used with the name of God reflects the authoritative way a higher-up talks to a subordinate. When joined the combination is turned into a 1^st person’s act. See Note 001:007)
• کُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You men. Generally this way the Holy Qor-aan addresses both men and women)
• اَزۡوَاجًا — Auz-waa-jaun — Spouses (= n., Wives. Widows. Counterpart of a married couple. Surviving life companions, mates or spouses)

* Note 078:009. The word  زۡوجٌ  is single. The plural is  اَزۡوَاجً. It can mean a husband or a wife. The verb is generally used for marriage, i.e., initiating a man and a woman to establish matrimonial ties and commence conjugal relationship for procreation of life. But it is extended to the “Pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad”)

The Holy Qor-aan                                          078:010                                       ○ ‏وَّجَعَلۡنَا نَوۡمَكُمۡ سُبَاتًا

                Wa  ja-aul-naa  nao-ma  koom  so-baa-taun

                And We made your sleep for rest

• وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., It links words, phrases or clauses. See  ‏ ‏ وَّ above)
• جَعَلۡنَا — Ja-aul-naa — We made (= v., past., pl., 1^st person. Appointed, assigned, designed, formed, made, ordained or set up. It is a combination of two words,  جَعَلۡ  and  نَآ.  See Note 002:067)
• نَوۡمَ — Nao-ma — Sleep (= n., A catnap, doze, nap, slumber or snooze for an extended period in hours)
• کُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You men. Generally this way the Holy Qor-aan addresses both men and women)
• سُبَا تًا — So-baa-taun — As the rest (= A means, period, source, thing, time or way to rest; shut down all systems of physical activity to recoup, repose and recover; regenerate; recharge the batteries)

The Holy Qor-aan                                          078:011                                             ‏ وَّجَعَلۡنَا الَّيۡلَ لِبَاسًا

               Wa  ja-aul-naa  ul-lai-la  lay-baa-saun

                And we made the night for cover

• وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., It links words, phrases or clauses. See ‏ ‏ وَّ above)
• جَعَلۡنَا — Ja-aul-naa … (ul) — We made (= v., past., pl., 1^st person. Appointed, assigned, designed, formed, made, ordained or set up. It is a combination of two words,  جَعَلۡ and  نَآ.  See Note 002:067)
• الَّيۡلَ — Lai-laa — Night (= n., Absence of sunlight; the opposite of a sunlit day. The period of darkness between a sunset and the next sunrise)
• لِبَاسًا — Lay-baa-saun — A cover (= n., Comfort; enable conjugal gratification; recover    fatigue and tiredness. See Note 003:072)

The Holy Qor-aan                                          078:012                                          وَّجَعَلۡنَا النَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا

                Wa  ja-aul-naa  un-na-haa-ra  ma-aa-shaun

                And We made the day for work

• وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., It links words, phrases or clauses. See  ‏ ‏ وَّ above)
• جَعَلۡنَا — Ja-aul-naa — We made (= v., past., pl., 1^st person. Appointed, assigned, designed, formed, made, ordained or set up. It is a combination of two words,  جَعَلۡ and  نَآ.  See Note 002:067)
• النَّهَارَ — Na-haa-ra — Day (= n., The sun-lit period between a sunrise and the next sunset)
• مَعَاشًا — Ma-aa-shun — Work (= n., A means, period, source, thing, time or way to work. Any activity to earn a living. Opportunity to work. Use and pursue means to earn a living. Seeking and securing for sustenance)

The Holy Qor-aan                                          078:013                                    وَّبَنَيۡنَا فَوۡقَكُمۡ سَبۡعًا شِدَادًا ۙ‏

                Wa   ba-nai-naa  fao-qa  koom  saub-aun  shay-daa-daun

                And we built above you seven strong layers of skies

• وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., It links words, phrases or clauses. See ‏ ‏ وَّ above)
• بَنَيۡنَا — Ba-nai-naa — We built (= Created; designed; developed. It is a combination of two words, بَنَي and نَآ. See Note 002:067)
• فَوۡقَ — Fao-qa — Above (= On next degree beyond, over, greater, higher, larger,  more or superior. Also, on next degree below, inferior, lower, lesser, smaller or under)
• کُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person. You men. Generally this way the Holy Qor-aan addresses both men and women)
• سَبۡعًا — Saub-aun — Seven (= Numerical number which is a total of 6 + 1)
• شِدَادًا — Shay-daa-daun — Strong layers of skies (= n., pl. Bodies. Heavens. Also, barriers, perimeters or strong outer limits. A/t/a, ‘firmaments,’  ‘strong heavenly bodies of the solar system,’ ‘strong heavens’ and ‘mighty heavens.’ Note 078:013 below.

 

** Note 078:013. The word  شِدَادًا  has also been elaborated as follows.

1. ‘Ways’ (023:018) by adding ‘Paradise’ as the 7th the other six are the spiritual stages of the growth of Believers as stated in verses (023:002 to 010) and the “major planets of the solar system” [mma].
2. ‘Major planets of the solar system of which sun is the center, or seven stages of spiritual development of man mentioned in Surah Al-Mu’minun’ [mgf])

The Holy Qor-aan                                          078:014                                        وَّ جَعَلۡنَا سِرَاجًا وَّهَّاجًا ۙ‏

                Wa   ja-aul-naa  say-raa-jaun  wa-haa-jaun

                And We made the dazzling sun

• وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., It links words, phrases or clauses. See ‏ ‏ وَّ above)
• جَعَلۡنَا — Ja-aul-naa — We made (= v., past., pl., 1^st person. Appointed, assigned, designed, formed, made, ordained or set up. It is a combination of two words,  جَعَلۡ and  نَآ.  See Note 002:067)
• سِرَاجًا — Say-raa-jaun — Lamp (= Light; sun, the great source of light and heat for life on earth)
• وَّهَّاجًا — Wa-haa-jaun — Dazzling (= Brightly burning and shining from a great distance; from so far away; splendor)

The Holy Qor-aan                                          078:015                          وَّاَنۡزَلۡنَا مِنَ الۡمُعۡصِرٰتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًاۙۙ

                Wa  aun-zaul-naa  may-na  ul-moe-say-raa-tay  maa-aun  thauj-jaa-jaun

And we sent down from the dripping clouds water pouring down profusely

• وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., It links words, phrases or clauses. See ‏ ‏ وَّ above)
• اَنۡزَلۡنَا — Aun-zaul — Sent down (= v., past., pl., 1^st person. Delivered; furnished; lowered;  poured down; provided; supplied; released; showered. It is a combination of two words, اَنۡزَلۡ and  نَآ. See Note 002:067
• مِنَ — May-na … (ul) — From (= Out of the class, category, count, kind or several things)
• الۡمُعۡصِرٰت — Moe-say-raa-tay — Clouds (= Clouds or vaporized water in a condensation process that turns into drops of rainwater forming one drop at a time, and yet the cloudbursts drops them collectively in the form of huge downpours of rain; rainy clouds that shower abundant supply of water)
• مَآءً — Maa-aun — Water (= n., H2O; rain water)
• ثَجَّاجًا — Thauj-jaa-jaun — Pouring down (= adj., Abundant. Coming down abundantly, plenteously and profusely. Torrential rain)

The Holy Qor-aan                                          078:016 لِّـنُخۡرِجَ بِهٖ حَبًّا وَّنَبَاتًا ۙ                                       ‏

                Lay  nookh-ray-ja  bay  he  haub-baun  wa  na-baa-taun

                So that We grow with it a grain and vegetation

• لِّ — Lay — So that (= For the object, purpose or reason of; in order to)
• نُخۡرِجَ — Nookh-ray-ja — We grow (= v., pres., pl., 1^st person. Bring forth; produce; sprout)
• بِ — Bay — With (= This word in Arabic literally means ‘with’)
• هٖ — He — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid rainwater)
• حَبًّا — Haub-baun — A grain (= n., s., The seed from which sprouts the plant for crops     like barley, corn or kernel, lentils, rice, wheat, etc.)
• وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., It links words, phrases or clauses. See ‏ ‏ وَّ above)
• نَبَاتًا — Na-baa-tuan — Vegetation (= n., 1. Grasses; greenery; growth; pastures. 2. Herbs; vegetables; varied plants. 3. Multiplication of virtues)

The Holy Qor-aan                                          078:017                                                وَّجَنّٰتٍ اَلۡفَافًا     Wa  jaun-naa-tin  aul-faa-faa

                And gardens with thick foliage

• وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., It links words, phrases or clauses. See ‏ ‏ وَّ above)
• جَنّٰتٍ — Jaun-naa-tin — Gardens (= pl., Big groves; gardens; orchards. The ultimate everlasting Garden. The Heavens)
• اَلۡفَافًا — Aul-faa-faa — Thick foliage (= Growth that is dense, luxuriant, luxurious, thick and tremendous, grows all over, and wraps around everything that surrounds it)
