The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                002:102

 

 

وَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمۡ رَسُوۡلٌ مِّنۡ عِنۡدِ اللّٰهِ مُصَدِّقٌ لِّمَا مَعَهُمۡ نَبَذَ فَرِيۡقٌ مِّنَ الَّذِيۡنَ اُوۡتُوا الۡكِتٰبَۙ – کِتٰبَ اللّٰهِ وَرَآءَ ظُهُوۡرِهِمۡ كَاَنَّهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُوۡنَ

 

Wa-lum-maa-jaa-aa-hoom-ra-soo-loom-min-in-dil-laa-hay
Mo-sud-day-qoon-lay-maa-ma-aa-hoom
Na-ba-za-fa-ree-qoon-may-nul-la-zee-na-oo-tool-kay-taa-ba
Kay-taa-bul-laa-hay-wa-raa-aa-za-hoo-ray-him
Ka-un-na-hoom-laa-yau-la-moo-n.

 

And whenever came to them a messenger from Allah
Fulfilling what was already with them,
A group among those given the Book discarded
The Book of Allah behind their backs
As if they did not know of it.

 

  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
  • لَمَّا — Lum-maa — Whenever (= Absolutely, certainly, definitely, positively and truly whenever, any time or at such time truly; now that)
  • جَآء — Jaa-aa — Came (= v., past., Achieved; arrived; reached; become manifest in the fulfillment of the divine prophecies)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person.  They, the Prophets’ persecutors)
  • رَسُوۡلٌ — Ra-soo-loon — The Prophet  *  (= s., Apostle; God’s messenger; great prophet; sage; saint)
  • مِّنۡ — Min — From (= From the direction or presence)
  • عِنۡدَ — In-d…(il) — From / with (= From or with the presence, stock or will)
  • اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
  • مُصَدِّقٌ — Mo-sud-day-qoon — Fulfilling (= v., Affirming, approving, attesting, confirming, proving testifying, corroborating, testifying, verifying and witnessing the truth of the prophecies in the earlier scriptures 2. n., One who affirms, approves, attests or confirms; true testator truthful; verifier; witness)
  • لِّ — Lay — For (= For the benefit, purpose or reason; on account of. concerning. regarding. relative to)
  • مَآ — Maa — What (= All that; whatever. Refers to the earlier prophecies)
  • مَعَ — Ma-aa — Already with (=Along with; in the company of; goes with, following or after them.  Here the word refers to the prior Scriptures that the Israelites had)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom  — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person.  They, the Prophets’ persecutors)
  • نَّبَذ — Na-ba-za — Discarded (= v., Broke; cast aside; cast away; denied; disclaimed; flouted; rebutted; rejected; renounced; repudiated; threw aside; turned back on; terminated; violated)
  • فَرِيۡقٌ — Fa-ree-qoon — A group (= Accomplices; association; a number of; band; class; clique; company; division; faction; part; party; section; selection; some only of a whole lot)
  • مِّنَ — May-na…(ul) — Among (= From the class, category, count, kind, persons or out of)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — La-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person.  All those persons)
  • اُوۡتُوا — Oo-too…(l) — Were given (= Awarded; bestowed; conferred; entrusted; gifted; granted; made responsible for)
  • الۡكِتٰبَ — Kay-taa-ba — The Book (= 1. The Divine Directive of Commandments and Prohibitions. The Holy Scripture. The Testament that holds good and is operative eternally. The Decreed part of a religion. The Holy Direction of Divine Commands, Rules and Regulations. The Spiritual Code codifying the rules of universal application. 2. The Collection of mandated, ordered, prescribed, preserved, recorded or written do’s and don’t’s.  3. Authentic penned down material in black & white)
  • کِتٰبَ — Kay-taa-ba..(ul) — The Book (= See     الۡكِتٰبَ     above)
  • اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship
  • وَرَآءَ — Wa-raa-aa — Behind (= At the back; far away; ignoring; shutting eyes to not see)
  • ظُهُوۡر — Za-hoo-ray — Backs (= pl., 1. Back of human beings where things can’t be seen, is beyond naked visibility and generally supposed to be neglected. 2. Manifest; obvious; visible)
  • هِمۡ — Him — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to those who persecuted the prophets from among the Recipients of the Book)
  • كَ — Ka — Like (= Example; identical; resembling; similar; similitude)
  • اَنَّ — Un-na — Definitely (= Absolutely; certainly; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; in all seriousness; positively; really; surely; truly; verily)
  • ھُمۡ‌ — Hoom — They (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person.  Refers to the aforesaid persons)
  • لَّا — Laa — No, not (= Absolute denial; never; not at all; total negation)
  • يَعۡلَمُوۡنَ — Yau-la-moo-n — Knew (= Knowingly; have the knowledge; are aware of it; know the consequence of their calumny and enormity)

* * Note 002:102. Except for the 5th word [ رَسُوۡلٌ in 002:102 and كِتٰبٌ  in 002:090] the first thirteen (13) words of the two verses are the same. These words had “affirmed, approved, attested, confirmed, corroborated, delivered, duplicated, supported, testified and verified with” identical messages the truth of both the Messenger [The Holy Prophet Mohammed s.a.w] and the Book [The Holy Qor-aan that was revealed to him].
