The Holy Qor-aan                                         085:011

اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ فَتَـنُوا الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ وَ الۡمُؤۡمِنٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمۡ يَتُوۡبُوۡا فَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ الۡحَرِيۡقِؕ

                In-nul-la-zee-na-fa-ta-nool-moe-me-nee-na-wul-moe-me-naa-tay-thoom-ma-lum-ya-too-boo-fa-la-hoom-azaa-bo-ja-hun-na-ma-wa-la-hoom-azaa-bool-ha-ree-q.

               Certainly those who oppressed the believing men and women, then do not repent, then for them is the punishment of Hell and for them is the punishment of burning.

• اِنَّ — In-na…(ul) — Certainly (= Absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; positively; really; seriously; surely; truly; verily)
• ٱلَّذِينَ — La-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. All those people who acted ‘bad’)
• فَتَـنُوا — Fa-ta-noo…(l) — Oppressed (= 1. Persecuted. Created for them hurdles, obstacles, obstructions and ordeals.   2. Caused among them discord, disorder, dissension, and mischief.  3. Lured; misled; put them to hard, tough, difficult tests and temptations.  4. Put them on trials intending to create impressions of a fair and impartial trial by the judiciary of that time)
• الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ — Moe-me-nee-na — Believing men (= n,. pl., m., Adherents of Islam; those who entered the Faith, believe and follow the Holy Qor-aan, the Islaam and became Moslems. Men of faith)
• وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
• الۡمُؤۡمِنٰتِ — Moe-me-naa-tay — Believing women (= n. pl., f., Adherents of Islam; those who entered the Faith, believe and follow the Holy Qor-aan, the Islaam and became Moslems. Women of faith)
• ثُمَّ — Thoom-ma — Then (= After that; subsequently; thereafter)
• لَمۡ — Lum — Do not (= Never; no, not at all)
• تُوۡبُوۡا — Too-boo — Repent (= Ask forgiveness; repent; turn in penitence, repentance penitently)
• فَ — Fa — Then (= Consequently; as a result; so; thereafter; therefore; yet)
• لَ — La — For (= For the benefit, purpose or reason; awaits them)
• ھُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid persecutors)
• عَذَابُ — Azaa-bo — Punishment (= Appropriate, due and fair agony, chastisement, doom, hard task, penalty, torment, torture or scourge)
• جَهَنَّمَ — Ja-hun-na-ma — Hell (= Blazing Fire. Purgatory; Gehenna; hell-fire. Also the hellish life in this world)
• وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
• لَ — La — For (= For the benefit, purpose or reason; awaits them)
• ھُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid persecutors)
• عَذَابُ — Azaa-bo..(ol) — Punishment (= Appropriate, due and fair agony, chastisement, doom, hard task, penalty, torment, torture or scourge)
• الۡحَرِيۡقِ — Ha-ree-q — Burning (= Conflagration; roasting. Some translations narrowed this part to mean ‘heart-burning)

اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ لَهُمۡ جَنّٰتٌ تَجۡرِىۡ مِنۡ تَحۡتِهَا الۡاَنۡهٰرُ ؕؔ ذٰلِكَ الۡفَوۡزُ الۡكَبِيۡرُ○ ؕ‏

In-nul-la-zee-na-aa-ma-noo-wa-aa-may-loos-suaa-lay-haa-tay                                          La-hoom-jun-naa-toon-tuj-ree-min-tuh-tay-hul-un-haa-r                                                      Zaa-lay-kul-fao-zool-ka-bee-r.

Certainly those who believed and practiced proper acts                                              For them are gardens beneath which rivers flow.                                                        That is the greatest triumph.

• اِنَّ — In-na…(ul) — Certainly (= Absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; positively; really; seriously; surely; truly; verily)

Holy Qor-aan has used often the “Phrase Aa-ma-noo …” in next five (5) words

• الَّذِيۡن – La-zee-na — Those (= pl., m, 3^rd person. Refers to the Believers)
• اٰمَنُوۡا — Aa-ma-noo — They Believed  (= v., past., pl., 3^rd person. Believed in the Holy Qor-aan; became Moslems; entered in Islam. See Note 002:026c and our Commentaries Islam – 101 and BELIEVE and DISBELIEVE)   
• وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
• عَمِلُوا — Aa-may-loo(s) — Practiced (= v., past., pl., 3^rd person. Acted; carried out; did; kept up; followed; led; lived out; performed; practiced; pursued; persisted in; strived. The Holy Qor-aan has used both verbs  اٰمَنُوۡا  and  عَمِلُوا  in the past tense but many authors inaccurately translated them in the present tense or as noun [O ye who believe; one author as ‘Believers’] as shown in Note 002:026c  )
• الصّٰلِحٰتِ — Sua-lay-haa-tay — Proper acts (= n., pl., Appropriate, befitting, correct, decent, fit, good, holy, honorable, moral, pious, proper, respectable, right righteous, upright, virtuous or worthy acts, activities, deeds, manners, operations, practices, performances, pursuits or righteousness or works. Righteous actions which are appropriate in manner, time and place — not the likes of a soldier who stands up for a prayer during a sword-fighting battle for life and death)
• لَ — La — For (= For the benefit, purpose or reason; on account of; with intent to or object of towards)
• ھُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid believers)

The Holy Qor-aan has used the Phrase Jun-naa-tin-tuj-ree … several times.

• جَنّٰتٌ — Jun-naa-toon — Gardens (= pl., Big groves. The Gardens. The orchards. See also   the Commentary titled as “The Paradise“)
• تَجۡرِىۡ — Tuj-ree — Flow (= Running with irrigation water; sailing water. A/t/a, ‘watered by running streams’)
• مِنۡ — Min — From (= From a class, category, count, kind, persons or out of)
• تَحۡتِ — Tuh-tay — Underneath (= Below; beneath; deep in ground; on lower level; sub-soil. Under-current)
• هَا — Ha…(ul) — Which (= pro., s., f., 3^rd person.. Refers to the  جَنّٰتٍ, the Paradise)
• الۡاَنۡهٰرُ — Un-haa-ro — Rivers (= Abundant bodies, currents, supplies or streams of running water)
• ذٰلِكَ — Zaa-lay-ka..(ul) — That (= Here; refers to an aforesaid fact, person or statement; it was because; right here; such is this; that is how it is)
• الۡفَوۡزُ — Fao-zo…(ol) — Triumph (= Achievement; success; win. A/t/a salvation)
• الۡكَبِيۡر — Ka-bee-r — Greatest (= Biggest; most fantastic; supreme)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         085:013                                    ○   اِنَّ بَطۡشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيۡدٌ ؕ‏

                In-na-but-sha-rub-bay-ka-la-sha-deed

                Most certainly the seizure by your God is very strong and severe.

• اِنَّ — In-na — Certainly * (= Absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; positively; really; seriously; surely; truly; verily)
• بَطۡشَ — But-sha — Seizure (= Catching; grasp; grip; punishment; seizing; vengeance)
• رَبِّ — Rub-bay — God (= The Almighty Allah who fills needs of all creatures;
  Cherisher; Creator; Guardian; Master; Lord Provident. The Only One Who provides all that sustains life. The Ultimate Provider of air, water, food and whatever we and all other creatures need to live and subsist)
• كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. The addressee of this divine message is initially the Holy Prophet s.a.w and secondarily every Moslem, in fact every human being. See the Note under 002:005)
• لَ — La — Certainly * (= Absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; positively; really; seriously; surely; truly; verily)
• شَدِيۡد — Sha-deed — Very severe (= Fierce; forceful; frightful; grievous; heavy-set; mighty; stern; strict; strong; terrible)

The Holy Qor-aan                                        085:014                                         ○   اِنَّهٗ هُوَ يُبۡدِئُ وَيُعِيۡدُ‌ ۚ‏

                In-na-hoo-ho-wa-yoob-de-o-wa-yo-eed

                Surely Only He creates and repeats creating 

• اِنَّ — In-na — Surely (= Absolutely; certainly; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; earnestly; positively; really; seriously; truly; verily
• هٗ — Hoo — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the Almighty God)
• هُو — Ho-wa — He (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the Almighty God)
• يُبۡدِئُ — Yoob-de-o — Creates  (= Creates, initiates, originates or starts since its inception or right from the beginning. Starts from nothing before)
• وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
• يُعِيۡدُ‌ — Yo-eed — Repeats (= Recreates the creating again and again. Reproduces. A translation by Dr Khan and Dr Al-Hilali first stated, “He it is Who begins (punishment) and repeats (punishment) in the Hereafter” and then repeated the above meanings as the secondary alternate)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         085:015                                   ○   وَهُوَ الۡغَفُوۡرُ الۡوَدُوۡدُ ۙ‏

               Wa-ho-wul-gha-foo-rool-wa-dood

               And He is the Most Forgiving, Most Loving.

• وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
• هُو — Ho-wa…(ul) — He (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the Almighty God)
• الۡغَفُوۡرُ — Ghafoo-ro(ol) — Forgiving (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most and highlights that none more than Him Who excuses, overlooks and pardons; All Forgiving)
• الۡوَدُوۡدُ — Wa-dood — Most Loving (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most and highlights that none more than Him is loving,
  affectionate and compassionate. All Loving. Benignant. Full of loving kindness.

The Holy Qor-aan                                          085:016                                          ○ ذُو الۡعَرۡشِ الۡمَجِيۡدُ ۙ‏

               Zool-ur-shil-ma-jeed

               Master of the most Glorious Throne

• ذُوۡ — Zoo…(l) — Of (= Lord. Master. Owner. Possessor)
• الۡعَرۡشِ — Ur-sh…(il) — Throne  *  (= Center of water. Seat of Glory)
• الۡمَجِيۡدُ — Ul-ma-jeed — Most Glorious (= Honored; respected)

* Note 085:016. Most translations construedالۡمَجِيۡدُ meaning glorious as an adjective to describe the الۡعَرۡشِ meaning the throne. However, M Zafrulla Khan treated both the words الۡعَرۡشِ and الۡمَجِيۡدُ as two independent nouns and translated them as “The Lord of the Throne, the Lord of Honour.” The quote is as in the original; it used the spellings of British English and not of the American English.

The Holy Qor-aan                                         085:017                                                 ○فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا يُرِيۡدُ ؕ‏

                Fau-aa-loo-lay-maa-yo-reed

               The doer of what He intends

• فَعَّالٌ — Fau-aa-loon..(il) — Doer (= Absolutely the real executor, implementer, precipitator or pursuer. Achiever who never fails, always succeeds. Who materializes)
• لِّ — Lay — For / Of (= For the goal, purpose or reason of)
• مَا — Maa — What (= 1. All that; whatever; whatsoever. 2. Any time; at such time; when; whenever)
• يُرِيۡدُ — Yo-reed — He intends (= Adjudicates, decides, wants, wills or wishes per His finalized Judgment)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         085:018                                    ○ هَلۡ اَتٰٮكَ حَدِيۡثُ الۡجُـنُوۡدِ ۙ‏

                 Hul-ataa-ka-ha-dee-thol-jo-nood

                Has come to you the report of the armies

• هَلۡ — Hull — Has (= Question mark like Are, Can, Have, Shell or Will?)
• اَتٰ — A-taa — Come to (= 1. Arrived; reached. 2. Heard of)
• كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. The addressee of this divine message is initially the Holy Prophet s.a.w and secondarily every Moslem, in fact every human being. See the Note under 002:005)
• حَدِيۡثُ — Ha-dee-tho..(ol) — Report (= 1. Account. narration; news; proclamation; saying; story; tale. 2. Discourse. Explanation)
• الۡجُـنُوۡدِ — Jo-nood — Armies (= Did you hear of the story of the great army. Forces;
  garrisons; hosts; soldiers; warriors)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         085:019                                               ○فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَثَمُوۡدَ ؕ‏

                 Phir-ao-na-wa-tha-mood

                Of Pharaoh and Thamood.

• فِرۡعَوۡنَ — Phir-auo-no — Pharaoh (= 1. The dictatorial monarchs of Egypt. 2. Also anyone who is extremely arrogant, boastful, pride-stricken and very vanity rich with a big ego)
• وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
• ثَمُوۡدَ — Tha-mood — Thamood (= Name of a nation or tribe. See 089:010 and 011

The Holy Qor-aan                                         085:020                                  ○ بَلِ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا فِىۡ تَكۡذِيۡبٍ ۙ‏

               Ba-lil-la-zee-na-ka-fa-roo-fee-tuk-zeeb

               Really they all disbelieved, excelling in the denial of Truth.

• بَل — Ba-l…(il) — Really (= Aye; nay; but the truth is; however; instead; of course; nevertheless; on the contrary; rather; the fact is; verily; truthfully; yea but; yes indeed)
• ٱلَّذِينَ — La-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. All those people who acted ‘bad’)
• كَفَرُوۡا — Ka-fa-roo — Disbelieved (= v., pl., 1. Denied, refused or rejected faith or belief in Allah, the Holy Qor-aan & Islaam to become Moslem.  2. Became faithless, heretics, infidels, non-believers, resistors to God or unbelievers. 3. Acted ungratefully by failing to appreciate, thank for, use or utilize God’s
  given abilities, blessings, capabilities, capacities, gifts, opportunities and talents by their abuse and misuse)
• فِىۡ — Fee — In (= 1. Among. In. Contained inside or amidst a duration, , event, time, place, period, thing or situation. 2. Relative to; concerning; for the sake of; in reference to; pursuant to; regarding)
• تَكۡذِيۡبٍ — Tuk-zeeb — Denial (= Excel, increase and persist in falsifying, giving lie to or rejecting the truth)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         085:021                                     ○  وَّاللّٰهُ مِنۡ وَّرَآٮِٕهِمۡ مُّحِيۡطٌۚ‏

                 Wul-laa-ho-min-wa-raa-ai-him-mo-heet

                And Allah will encompass from behind them

• وَ — Wa…(ul) — And (=(= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
• اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
• مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of a class, category, count or kind. Among, from or out of a several persons or things)
• وَرَآءَ — Wa-raa-a — Behind (= 1. At the back; besides; beyond; far away; further than being seen; what comes after that’s clearly visible. 2. Ignoring; shutting eyes to not see. a/t/a from their behind and the front to punish them; those who ignore facts and shut their eyes so as not to see the facts)
• هِمۡ — Him — Them (= pro., pl, .m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid ‘armies’)
• مُّحِيۡطٌۚ — Mo-heet — Encompass (= v., Always and invariably does encircle, encompass, gather, herd together, surround and lead them to the desired destination. Round them up from all around indicates ‘all of them’ leaving none behind, like a shepherd rounding up all his cattle from getting lost )

The Holy Qor-aan                                         085:022                                         ○بَلۡ هُوَ قُرۡاٰنٌ مَّجِيۡدٌ ۙ‏

                Bul-ho-wa-qor-aa-noon-ma-jeed

                Really this is the Glorious Book — read again and again

• بَلۡ — Bul — Really (= Aye; nay; but the truth is; however; instead; of course; nevertheless; on the contrary; rather; the fact is; verily; truthfully; yea but; yes indeed)
• هُو — Ho-wa — He (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the Holy Qor-aan)
• قُرۡاٰنٌ — Qor-aan — The Book (= Read again and again. Most frequently. See our Commentary titled The Holy Qor-aan – The Most Read Book In The World)
• مَّجِيۡدٌ — Ma-jeed — Glorious (= Honored; respected)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         085:023                                              ○فِىۡ لَوۡحٍ مَّحۡفُوۡظٍ

                 Fee-lao-him-mah-fooz

                In a safe and secure template.

• فِىۡ — Fee — In (= 1. Among. In. Contained inside or amidst a duration, , event, time, place, period, thing or situation. 2. Relative to; concerning; in reference to; pursuant to; regarding)
• لَوۡحٍ — Lao-hin…(m) — Template (= Tablet. The Standard with which all other Books and Codes will forever be judged)
• مَّحۡفُوۡظٍ — Mah-fooz — Safe & secure (= Preserved, protected and well-guarded against any and all destruction, distortion or dissolution)
