وَبَشِّرِ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَ عَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ اَنَّ لَهُمۡ جَنّٰتٍ تَجۡرِىۡ مِنۡ تَحۡتِهَا الۡاَنۡهٰرُؕ ڪُلَّمَا رُزِقُوۡا مِنۡهَا مِنۡ ثَمَرَةٍ رِّزۡقًا ۙ قَالُوۡا هٰذَا الَّذِىۡ رُزِقۡنَا مِنۡ قَبۡلُ وَاُتُوۡا بِهٖ مُتَشَابِهًا ؕ وَلَهُمۡ فِيۡهَآ اَزۡوَاجٌ مُّطَهَّرَةٌ ۙ وَّهُمۡ فِيۡهَا خٰلِدُوۡنَ
Wa-baush-shay-ril-la-zee-na-aa-ma-noo
Wa-aa-may-loos-suaa-lay-haa-tay
Un-na-la-hoom-jun-naa-tin-tuj-ree-min-tuh-tay-hul-un-haar
Kool-la-maa-ro-zay-qoo-min-haa-min-tha-ma-ra-tin-riz-qun
Qaa-loo-haa-zul-la-zee-ro-ziq-naa-min-qub-lo
Wa-otoo-bay-he-mo-ta-shaa-bay-haa
Wa-la-hoom-fee-haa-uz-waa-joom-mo-tuh-ha-ra-toon
Wa-hoom-fee-haa-kha-lay-doo-n.
And congratulate those who believed And performed proper practices That for them are gardens flowing underneath which rivers Every time given from there a fruit as food They would say, “This is what we were given before” And they will be given more like that And for them in it would be chaste spouses And in it they would be dwellers forever.

- ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to the Believers)
- اٰمَنُوۡا — Aa-ma-noo — They Believed (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Believed in the Holy Qor-aan; became Moslems; entered Iss-laam. The Holy Qor-aan has used this word in the past tense. Some works have translated it incorrectly in the present tense and/or as a noun [O ye who believe; one author as ‘Believers’] as shown in Note 002:026c. See Commentaries Islam – 101 and Believe and Disbelieve)
- وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
- عَمِلُوا — Aa-may-loo(s) — Performed (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Acted; carried out; did; kept up; followed; led; lived out; made effort; performed; practiced; pursued; persisted in; strove; tried best; worked. The Holy Qor-aan has used this word in the past tense. Some works have translated it incorrectly in the present tense. The contradiction in such translations of the same one word عَمِلُوا as ‘did’ and ‘do’ definitely confuse a reader)
- الصّٰلِحٰتِ — Suaa-lay-haa-tay — Proper practices (= n., pl., Appropriate, befitting, correct, decent, fit, good, holy, honorable, moral, pious, proper, respectable, right, righteous, upright, virtuous or worthy acts, activities, deeds, manners, operations, practices, performances, pursuits, righteousness or works. Righteous actions which are appropriate in manner, time and place — not the likes of a soldier who stands up for a prayer during a sword-fighting battle for life and death)
- اَنَّ — Un-na — That (= Since; so that)
- لَ — La — For ( = For the benefit, purpose or reason; on account of; with
intent to or object of towards)
- ھُمۡ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid believers)
The Holy Qor-aan has used the Phrase Jun-naa-tin-tuj-ree … several times
- جَنّٰتٍ — Jun-naa-tin — Gardens (= pl., Big groves. The Gardens. The orchards. See also the Commentary titled as “The Paradise“)
- تَجۡرِىۡ — Tuj-ree — Flow (= v., pres, s., f., 3rd person. Running with irrigational water; sailing water. See also 003:137)
- مِنۡ — Min — From (= From a class, category, count, kind, persons or out of)
- تَحۡتِ — Tah-tay — Underneath (= Below; beneath; deep in ground; on lower level; subsoil through; under; undercurrent. See Note 002:026a)
- هَا — Ha … (ul) — Which (= pro., s., f., 3rd person.. Refers to the جَنّٰتٍ, the Paradise)
- الۡاَنۡهٰرُ — Un-haa-ro — Rivers (= n., Abundant bodies, currents, streams or supplies of running water)
- ڪُلَّمَا — Kool-la-maa — Every time (= This a combination of ڪُلَّ that means ‘all, altogether, entirely, everyone, totally or wholly’, and مَا that means ‘all that, what, whatever or whatsoever.’ Joined together as كُلَّمَا it means ‘every single time without exception, as often as, as soon as; no sooner than’)
- رُزِقُوۡا — Ro-zay-qoo — Given (= v., pass., past, pl., 3rd person. 1. Bestowed; donated; furnished; gifted; supplied; granted. 2- Fed; provided eatables; regaled with food)

- هَا — Haa — There (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to the Paradise)

- رِزۡقًا — Riz-qun — As food (= Eatables; consumable necessities to continue life; provisions sustenance)
- قَا لُوۡا — Qaa-loo — They would say (= v., past., pl., m., 3rd person. Announce; broadcast; call; covey; declare; exclaim; inform; proclaim; state; tell. The Holy Qor-aan used the verb in the the past tense but many authors inaccurately translated it as verb in the present tense as shown in the Note 002:026c below)
- هَـٰذَا — Haa-za…(ul) — This (= The article, thing or person present before the talker)
- ٱلَّذِي — La-zee — That (= s., male, 3rd person article, thing or person. Here it is food)
- رُزِقۡ — Ro-ziq — Given (= v., pass., past, pl., 1st person. 1. Bestowed; donated; furnished; gifted; supplied; granted. 2- Fed; provided eatables; regaled with food)
- نَآ — Naa — Us (= pronoun, pl., Refers to ‘us all’, both genders)
- مِنَ — Min — From (= From a class, category, count, kind, persons or out of)
- قَبۡلُ — Qub-lo — Before (= Antecedent; earlier than; older times; occurred or passed in prior period; prior to)

- مُتَشَابِ — Mo-ta-shaa-bay — Like (= In the same form and resemblance; resembling. A/t/a, ‘similar looking fruit but with different tastes,’ ‘in perfect semblance to their deeds’; ‘gifts mutually resembling’ and ‘things in similitude’)
- هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to the kind or type of the fruit they were given before)
- وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., Connects words, phrases or clauses. See وَ above)
- لَ — La — For (= For the purpose – See above)
- ھُمۡ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to the believers)
- فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Contained in, inside or amidst an event, time, period, place, thing or situation)
- هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to the Paradise)
- اَزۡوَاجٌ — Uz-waa-joon — Spouses ** (= n., pl., 1. Associates; companions; friends; mates; wives. 2. Associations; companionships; friendships; relationships)
- مُّطَهَّرَةٌ — Mo-tuh-ra-toon — Chaste ** (= n., A person who has been anointed, cleansed, made holy or rendered pure – some authors have added in their work the word spiritually)
- وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., Connects words, phrases or clauses. See وَ above)
- ھُمۡ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to the believers)
- فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Contained in, inside or amidst an event, time, period, place, thing or situation)
- هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to the Paradise)
- خٰلِدُوۡنَ — Khaa-lay-doo-n — Dwellers (= n., pl. Abiders; living forever; residents for ever after. See Note 002:040)
* Note 002:026a. The words جَنّٰتٍ تَجۡرِىۡ مِنۡ تَحۡتِهَا الۡاَنۡهٰر appear in the Holy Qor-aan many times. Besides the aforesaid literal meanings, they also carry far deeper and more significant connotations. The visible rewards for good actions are just a fraction of the real blessings that follow in the long run. The moisture from the sub-soil under-current keeps the above-ground growth green and flourishing. Likewise the consequences of good actions keep multiplying even when droughts hit the surface. Far better and log-lasting results keep blossoming out over and over again many times in the future. It is like the 10%-tip of an iceberg with its 90%-body under water which the naked eyes can’t see. ‘Rivers flowing underneath’ provide the additional amount of water when the ground water dries up. ‘Rivers flowing underneath prove to be the life-support when above-ground air is no more moist. This substituted moisture significantly reduces the need of the irrigation water to greenery alive.
** Note 002:026b. The practice in some westernized translations of coloring this part of the scripture with sensuous insinuations by use of words like ‘virgins’ is strongly deprecated. Similarly the use of words like ‘physically’ suggests that people in the Paradise will have ‘earthly bodies and sensations’ but this concept too is not uniformly accepted or endorsed.

The original verb in the past tense was translated as a verb in the present tense, and vise versa. The original verb in the active voice was translated as a verb in the passive voice, and vice versa. The original noun was translated as a verb, and vise versa.
