Verses of the Holy Qor-aan are quoted on this site with the numbers, the first set of three being the number of Soorah (Chapter) followed by the last set of three being the number of the verse. The numbers include بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ‏‏ as the verse #1 in every Soorah except the Soorah #9. The original Arabic word is shown first, or in Col #1. The phonetic transliteration in English is shown next, or in Col #2, and is based upon words commonly pronounced like bat, cat, sat → fate, gate, hate → bait, trait → bay, nay, say → be, he, she → bet, pet, wet → bit, fit, sit → cot, dot, rot → boot, hoot, root → bout, rout → but, cut, hut, ultimatum. بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ
اَلَمۡ نَشۡرَحۡ لَـكَ صَدۡرَكَۙ‏  ○  وَوَضَعۡنَا عَنۡكَ وِزۡرَكَۙ‏  ○  الَّذِىۡۤ اَنۡقَضَ ظَهۡرَكَۙ‏  ○  وَرَفَعۡنَا لَـكَ ذِكۡرَكَ ○ فَاِنَّ مَعَ الۡعُسۡرِ يُسۡرًا○ ۙ اِنَّ مَعَ الۡعُسۡرِ يُسۡرًا○ ؕ‏  فَاِذَا فَرَغۡتَ فَانۡصَبۡۙ‏  ○  وَاِلٰى رَبِّكَ فَارۡغَب 

1. Bis-mil-laa-hir-rah-maa-nir-ra-heem
2. Aa-lum-nush-ruh-la-ka-sud-ra-ka
3. Wa-wa-zau-naa-un-ka-wiz-ra-ka
4. Ul-la-zen-qua-dza-zuh-ra-ka
5. Wa-ra-fau-naa-la-ka-zik-ruk.
6. Fa-in-na-ma-ul-oos-ray-yos-raa
7. In-na-ma-ul-oos-ray-yos-raa.
8. Fa-ezaa-fa-rugh-ta-fun-sub
9. Wa-elaa-rub-bay-ka-fur-ghub

1. With the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful I begin
2. Have We not broadened your mind for you?
3. And We took off your back your burden
4. Which had almost broken your back
5. And We raised for you your remembrance (in others’ hearts and esteem).
6. So surely with the hardship is the ease
7. Indeed with the hardship is the ease.
8. So when you become free, then dig in
9. And to your God then turn

The Holy Qor-aan                                          094:001                                      ○بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ‏‏

Bis-mil-laa-hir-rah-maa-nir-ra-heem

With the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful I begin.

(Beginning, commencing, starting)

  • بِ — B…(is) — With (= This Arabic word literally means ‘with’. Its translation in English is more accurate with ‘with’ than with ‘in’)
  • سۡمِ — Ism…(il) — The name of (= The way to be addressed or called)
  • اللهِ — Laa-h…(ir) — Allah (= The Almighty God; the One Only worthy of worship)
  • الرَّحۡمٰنِ — Rah-maa-n(ir) — The Most Beneficent (= The One who fully, totally and wholly benefits all, to the maximum, with no condition, limitation or restriction. Compassionate. Gracious)
  • الرَّحِيۡمِ — Ra-heem — The Most Merciful (= The One who fully, totally and wholly showers mercy, to the maximum, again and again, continually, indefinitely and perpetually like the endlessly incoming waves from the oceans)

Holy Qor-aan                                                  094:002                                         اَلَمۡ نَشۡرَحۡ لَـكَ صَدۡرَكَۙ

Aa-lum-nush-ruh-la-ka-sud-ra-ka

Have We not broadened your mind for you?

  • أ — Aa — Have (= Question mark like Are? Can? Do? Shell? Will?)
  • لَمۡ — Lum — Not (= Never; no, not at all)
  • نَشۡرَحۡ — Nush-ruh — Broadened (= Comforted; dilated; expanded; illuminated; increased comprehension and understanding; lifted; opened; widened
  • لَّ — La — For (= For the benefit, purpose or reason; on account of; with
    intent to; with the object of; towards)
  • كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. The one male addressee of this divine message is initially the Holy Prophet s.a.w and secondarily every Moslem, in fact every human being. See the Note under 002:005)
  • صَدۡرَ — Sud-ra — Mind (= Bosom; breast; chest; heart)
  • كَ — Ka — Your  (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You one man. See كَ above)

Wa-wa-zau-naa-un-ka-wiz-ra-ka

And We took off your back your burden

Ul-la-zen-qua-dza-zuh-ra-ka

Which had almost / well nigh broken your back

  • اَنۡقَضَ — Un–qua-dza — Broken (= Bent; doubled; weighed down; almost or well-nigh broken; galled up the back)
  • ظَهۡرَ —  Zuh-ra-ka — Back (= Part of the human body below the back of neck; back of human torso)

Wa-ra-fau-naa-la-ka-zik-ruk

And We raised for you your remembrance (in others’ hearts and esteem).

Fa-inna-ma-ul-oos-ray-yos-raa

So surely with the hardship is  the ease

Indeed with the Hardship is the Ease.

So when you become free, then dig in

Wa-elaa-rub-bay-ka-fur-ghub

And to your God then turn

  • اِلٰٓى — E-laa — To (= In the direction of; towards)
  • رَبِّ — Rub-bay — God (= The Almighty Allah who fills needs of all creatures;
    Creator; Guardian; Master; Lord Provident. The Only One Who provides all that sustains life. Ultimate Provider of air, water, food and whatever we and all other creatures need to live and subsist)
  • كَ — Ka — Your (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You one man. See كَ above)*
  • فَ — F…(ur) — So (= Consequently; as a result; then; thereafter; therefore; yet)
  • ارۡغَب — Ur-ghub — Turn (= Attend; concentrate on worship; devote; focus attention; turn toward something as the sole objective; exclusively intend; seek with all attention, dedicated devotion and full fervor) *

* Note 094:009. The Commandment is to establish single-mindedly the worship of the Almighty God. He knew that the hassle of earning livelihood will hang on man’s’ mind and hamper his worship. He Himself prioritized the sequence and made man responsible to first finish fending for family. He directed man to turn to Him after he had completely provided the essentials which sustain life. He finally told man to dig in His remembrance with full attention, surely, securely and squarely. .
