اَلَمۡ يَرَوۡا كَمۡ اَهۡلَـكۡنَا مِنۡ قَبۡلِهِمۡ مِّنۡ قَرۡنٍ مَّكَّنّٰهُمۡ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ مَا لَمۡ نُمَكِّنۡ لَّـكُمۡ وَاَرۡسَلۡنَا السَّمَآءَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ مِّدۡرَارًا وَّجَعَلۡنَا الۡاَنۡهٰرَ تَجۡرِىۡ مِنۡ تَحۡتِهِمۡ فَاَهۡلَكۡنٰهُمۡ بِذُنُوۡبِهِمۡ وَاَنۡشَاۡنَا مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ قَرۡنًا اٰخَرِيۡنَ ‏

 

Aa-lum-ya-rao-cum-ah-luk-naa-min-qub-lay-him                                                                        Min-qur-nim-muk-kun-naa-hoom-fil-ur-dzay                                                                          Maa-lum-no-muk-kil-la-koom                                                                                                              Wa-ur-sul-nus-smaa-aa-alai-him-mid-raa-run                                                                              Wa-ja-ul-nul-un-haa-ra-tuj-re-min-tah-tay-him                                                                            Fa-ah-luk-naa-hoom-bay-zo-noo-bay-him                                                                                      Wa-un-shau-naa-min-bau-day-him-qur-nun-aa-kha-ree-n

 

Do they not see how many we destroyed before them                                                    Nations We had established them in the world                                                                 That We have not established you                                                                                    And We sent upon them the rain in sheets                                                                      And We made the rivers flowing underneath them.                                                    Even then we destroyed them due to their sins                                                             And we raised after them other nations.

  • نَآ — Naa — We (= pro., m/f., pl., 1st person. Our; Us. Used with God’s name this is the authoritative way a higher-up talks)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon)
  • قَبۡلِ — Qub-lay — Before (= Earlier, former, older, past or prior times. Aforetime. Ahead. Something that happened previously or occurred historically in an earlier period)
  • هِمۡ — Him — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • مِّنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class. See  مِنۡ  above)
  • قَرۡنٍ — Qur-n … (im) — Nations (= n., pl., Dynasties; empires; generations. groups. A/t/a, ‘men’ and ‘generations.’ See Note below why translating as ‘a generation’ is inaccurate)

  • اَرۡسَلۡ — Ur-sul — Sent (= v., past., 1st person. Appointed; dispatched; deputed;  empowered with the authority; raised; set up. A/t/a, ‘shed on,’ ‘sent down,’ ‘had sent,’ ‘poured out’ and ‘sending down’)
  • نَآ — Naa .. (us) — We (= pro., m/g., pl., 1st person. Our. See  نَآ  above)

** Note 006:007: The plural pronoun  هُمۡ‌ (hoom) comes after the word قَرۡنٍ (qurnin). That is why it is imperative to translate the noun  قَرۡن  in the plural as a class, and not in the singular as one – even though the vowel Tunween (double kusra under and double fatah above) normally indicates that the noun is singular.

فَقَدۡ كَذَّبُوۡا بِالۡحَـقِّ لَـمَّا جَآءَهُمۡ‌ؕ فَسَوۡفَ يَاۡتِيۡهِمۡ اَنۢۡـبٰٓـؤُا مَا كَانُوۡا بِهٖ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُوۡنَ

 

Fa-qud-kuz-za-boo-bil-huq-qay-lum-maa-jaa-aa-hoom                                                              Fa-sao-fa-yau-tee-him-un-baa-o-maa-kaa-noo-bay-he-yus-tah-zay-oon

 

Then they surely belied the truth when it came to them.                                              So the news will soon reach them with what they used to ridicule.

 

  • فَ — Fa — Then (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; so; thereafter; therefore; thus. A/t/a, ‘and,’ ‘so’ and ‘Thus’)

A/t/a, ‘they rejected,’ ‘they have rejected,’ ‘they have cried lies to’ and ‘they denied.’ But ‘they reject’ and ‘they ‘deny’ in the present tense are no translations of the past tense that the Holy Qor-aan has used)

  • الۡحَـقِّ — Ul-huq-qay — The truth (= n., Appropriate; equitable; fair; justifiable; right. Also see Note 003:103. A/t/a, ‘the truth,’ ‘the Truth, the Quran,’ ‘truth (the Quran and Muhammad s.a.w)‘ and ‘this perfect truth’)
  • لَمَّا — Lum-maa — Surely when (= This is a combination of two words. The first word لَ   means absolutely, certainly, definitely, positively, surely, truly or verily. The second word is ما (maa) means all that, what, whatever. The word  لَمَّا  (lum-maa) thus means surely when or certainly whatever . A/t/a, ‘when’)

وَمَا تَاۡتِيۡهِمۡ مِّنۡ اٰيَةٍ مِّنۡ اٰيٰتِ رَبِّهِمۡ اِلَّا كَانُوۡا عَنۡهَا مُعۡرِضِيۡنَ‏

 

Wa-maa-tau-tee-hoom-min-aa-ya-tim                                                                                              Min-aa-yaa-tay-rub-bay-him                                                                                                            Il-laa-kaa-noo-un-haa-moe-ray-dzee-n

 

And never comes to them a sign                                                                                              From among the signs of their Lord                                                                                  Except that they have always been averse to it.

وَهُوَ ٱللَّهُ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَفِى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ‌ۖ  يَعۡلَمُ سِرَّكُمۡ وَجَهۡرَكُمۡ وَيَعۡلَمُ مَا تَكۡسِبُونَ

 

Wa-ho-wul-laa-ho-fis-smaa-waa-tay-wa-fil-ur-dzay                                                                    Yau-la-mo-ser-ra-koom-wa-jah-ra-koom                                                                                    Wa-yau-la-mo-maa-tuk-say-boo-n

 

And He is Allah in the heaven and in the earth                                                                He knows your secrets and your intros                                                                          And He knows what you earn

The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                    006:003

 

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُم مِّن طِينٍ۬ ثُمَّ قَضَىٰٓ أَجَلاً۬  ‌ۖ   وَأَجَلٌ۬ مُّسَمًّى عِندَهُ  ۥ‌ۖ   ثُمَّ أَنتُمۡ تَمۡتَرُونَ

 

Ho-wul-la-zee-kha-la-qa-ko-mit-tee-nay                                                                                          Thoom-ma-qa-zaa-aa-ja-lun                                                                                                              Wa-aa-ja-loom-mo-sum-mun-in-da-hoo                                                                                        Thoom-ma-un-toom-tum-ta-roo-n

 

He Who created you from earthen material                                                                      Then fixed a term for it to last.                                                                                                And with Him is another named term.                                                                                Yet you doubt and don’t believe in His Powers.

اَلۡحَمۡدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِىۡ خَلَقَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضَ وَجَعَلَ الظُّلُمٰتِ وَالنُّوۡرَ  ؕ ثُمَّ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا بِرَبِّهِمۡ يَعۡدِلُوۡنَ

 

Ul-hum-do  lay  il-laa-hay  il-la-zee                                                                                                    Kha-la-qa  us  smaa-waa-tay  wa  ul-ur-dza                                                                                    Wa  ja-aa-la  uz-zo-lo-maa-tay  wa  un-noo-r                                                                                  Thoom-ma  ul-la-zee-na  ka-fa-roo                                                                                                      Bay  rub-bay  him  yau-day-loo-n

 

The thanks are for Allah Who                                                                                                Created the heavens and earth                                                                                                And made the darkness and the light.                                                                                  Yet those have disbelieved                                                                                                      Set up equals with their Lord

Soora-tool Un-aam                             Chapter # 006                                           سُوۡرَةُ الاٴنعَام

 

Verses of the Holy Qor-aan are quoted on this site with the numbers, the first set of three being the number of Soorah (Chapter) followed by the last set of three being the number of the verse. The numbers include  بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ‏‏   as the verse #1 in every Soorah except the Soorah #9. The original Arabic word is shown first, or in Col #1. Bis-mil-laa-hir-rah-maa-nir-ra-heem

With the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful I begin.

لِلّٰهِ مُلۡكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ وَمَا فِيۡهِنَّ‌ ؕ وَهُوَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىۡءٍ قَدِيۡرٌ

 

Lil-laa-hay-mool-koos-sa-maa-waa-tay-wul-ur-dzay                                                                  Wa-maa-fee-hin-na-wa-ho-wa-alaa-kool-lay-shai-in-qa-dee-r

 

For Allah is the Supreme Power of the heavens and the earth                                    And all that is them  And he is in full control of everything.

قَالَ اللّٰهُ هٰذَا يَوۡمُ يَـنۡفَعُ الصّٰدِقِيۡنَ صِدۡقُهُمۡ‌ؕ  لَهُمۡ جَنّٰتٌ تَجۡرِىۡ مِنۡ تَحۡتِهَا الۡاَنۡهٰرُ خٰلِدِيۡنَ فِيۡهَاۤ اَبَدًا‌ ؕ رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَنۡهُمۡ وَرَضُوۡا عَنۡهُ‌ ؕ ذٰ لِكَ الۡـفَوۡزُ الۡعَظِيۡمُ

 

Qaa-lul-laa-ho-haa-zaa-yao-mo-yun-fa-oos-saa-day-qee-na-sid-qo-hoom                            La-hoom-jun-naa-toon-tuj-re-min-tuh-tay-hul-un-haa-ro                                                        Khaa-lay-dee-na-fee-haa-aa-ba-daa                                                                                                Ra-zay-yul-laa-ho-un-hoom-wa-ra-zoo-un-ho                                                                              Zaa-lay-kul-fao-zool-aa-zee-m

 

Allah said, “This is the day their truth benefits the Truthful.                                      For them are the Gardens underneath which rivers flowing                                      They living in it forever.                                                                                                            Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him.                                      This is the supreme triumph.”

اِنۡ تُعَذِّبۡهُمۡ فَاِنَّهُمۡ عِبَادُكَ‌ۚ وَاِنۡ تَغۡفِرۡ لَهُمۡ فَاِنَّكَ اَنۡتَ الۡعَزِيۡزُ الۡحَكِيۡمُ‏ 

 

In-to-uz-zib-hoom-fa-in-na-hoom-aiy-baa-do-ka                                                                        Wa-in-tugh-fer-la-hoom-fa                                                                                                                  In-na-ka-un-tul-aa-zee-zool-ha-kee-m

 

If You punish them, then they certainly are your servants.                                        And if you forgive them then                                                                                                    You and Only You surely are the Mightiest, the Wisest.

  • ٱلۡعَزِيزُ — Azee-zoo…(l) — Mightiest (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most, and highlights that none more than Him is The Revered, The Highest, The Most Exalted, Honored and Respected.
