The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                    006:166

 

  وَهُوَ الَّذِىۡ جَعَلَـكُمۡ خَلٰٓٮِٕفَ الۡاَرۡضِ وَرَفَعَ بَعۡضَكُمۡ فَوۡقَ بَعۡضٍ دَرَجٰتٍ لِّيَبۡلُوَكُمۡ فِىۡ مَاۤ اٰتٰٮكُمۡ‌ؕ اِنَّ رَبَّكَ سَرِيۡعُ الۡعِقَاب ۖ وَاِنَّهٗ لَـغَفُوۡرٌ رَّحِيۡمٌ ِ

 

Wa-ho-wul-la-ze-ja-aa-la-koom-kha-laa-aiy-ful-ur-dzay                                                          Wa-ra-fa-aa-bau-dzo-koom-fao-qa-bau-dzin-da-ra-jaa-tin                                                        Lay-yub-lo-wa-koom-fee-maa-aa-taa-koom                                                                                    In-na-rub-ba-ka-sa-re-ool-aiy-qaa-b                                                                                          Wa-in-na-hoo-la-gha-foo-roor-ra-hee-m

 

And He made you the representatives on earth                                                            And exalted some of you above others in ranks                                                                So that He tests you out in all that He gave you.                                                              Surely your lord God is very swift in the follow up                                                         And He certainly is very Forgiving, very Merciful.

  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all men. The Holy Qor-aan has addressed men and women jointly this way)
  • خَلٰٓٮِٕفَ — Kha-laa-aiy-fa — Representative (= n., pl.  Alterative; successors; viceregents; viceroys. Those who  come after someone intending, pursuing and trying to continue with the mission of their leader. See Commentaries Law – Successors (Caliph) and Law – Succession (Caliphate). A/t/a, ‘agents, inheritors of,’ ‘successors of others,’  ‘has made … take the place of others,’ ‘successors,’ ‘viceroys,’ ‘successors (of other and  rulers) of,’ ‘your heritage’ and ‘generations coming after generations, replacing each other.’ But ‘to succeed one another’ as a verb is no translation of the noun that the Holy
    Qor-aan has used)       
  • الۡاَرۡضِ — Ul-ur-dzay — The Earth (= Area; country; earth; ground; land; soil; territory. Also, life on earth, nation; people or society in general. A/t/a, ‘on the earth,’ ‘in the land,’ and ‘of the earth’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • رَفَعَ — Ra-fa-aa — He Exalted (= v., past., s., m., 3rd person. He elevated, exalted, lifted, placed or raised above from a prior set, stage or status. See 002:254, 003:056 and 004:159 for this act of God relative to man. A/t/a, ‘He hath raised’ and ‘exalted’)

  • يَبۡلُو — Yub-lo-wa — Tests (= v., pres., s., 3rd person.  Examines; puts to test; tries. A/t/a. ‘try,’ ‘may try … by (the test),’ ‘might try’ and ‘might prove’)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person., You. See  كُمۡ  above)

  • رَبَّ — Rub-ba — God (= The Almighty Allah who fills needs of all creatures; Cherisher; Creator; Guardian; Master; Lord Provident. The Only One Who provides all that sustains life. The Ultimate Provider of air, water, food and whatever we and all other creatures need to live and subsist)
  • كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. The addressee of this divine message is initially the Holy Prophet s.a.w. See the Note 002:005. A/t/a, ‘thy’)
  • سَرِيۡعُ‏ — Sa-ree-oo…(l) — Swift (= adj., Hurried; In an expedited manner; promptly; quick; swift. A/t/a, ‘approaches swiftly’ but this verb is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has used as an adj.)
  • الۡعِقَابِ — Aiy-qaa-b — Follow-up (= n., Aftermath; chastisement; consequence; continuation; effect; outcome; penalty phase; punishing; punishment; reckoning; requiting; retribution; sequel. A/t/a, ‘requitting (evil)’ and ‘prosecution’)

  • غَفُوۡرٌ — Gha-foo-ro(or) — Very Forgiving (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most, and highlights that none more than Him is Who excuses, overlooks and pardons all crimes, errors, faults, sins and wrongs. See verse 001:001 A/t/a, ‘Most Forgiving,’ ‘the Forgiving,’ ‘Oft-Forgiving,’ ‘Forgiving,’ ’All Forgiving and ‘Great Protector’)   
  • رَّحِيۡمٌ — Ra-hee-m — Very Merciful (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most, and highlights that none more than Him shows mercy again and again, continually, incessantly and indefinitely like endlessly and perpetually incoming  waves from the oceans.  قُلۡ اَغَيۡرَ اللّٰهِ اَبۡغِىۡ رَبًّا وَّهُوَ رَبُّ كُلِّ شَىۡءٍ‌ ؕ وَلَا تَكۡسِبُ كُلُّ نَـفۡسٍ اِلَّا عَلَيۡهَا‌ۚ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِّزۡرَ اُخۡرٰى‌ ۚ ثُمَّ اِلٰى رَبِّكُمۡ مَّرۡجِعُكُمۡ فَيُنَبِّئُكُمۡ بِمَا كُنۡـتُمۡ فِيۡهِ تَخۡتَلِفُوۡنَ‏

 

Qool-aa-ghai-rul-laa-hay-ub-ghee-rub-bun                                                                                    Wa-ho-wa-rub-bo-kool-lay-shai-in                                                                                              Wa-laa-tuk-say-bo-kool-lo-nuf-sin-il-laa-alai-haa                                                                      Wa-laa-ta-zay-ro-waa-zay-ra-toon-wiz-ra-ookh-raa                                                              Thoom-ma-aiy-laa-rub-bay-koom-mur-jay-o-koom                                                                      Fa-yo-nub-bay-o-koom-bay-maa-koon-toom                                                                                  Fee-hay-tukh-ta-lay-foo-n

 

Say, “Shall I seek a Lord God other than Allah                                                                  And He is the Lord God of all things?                                                                            And every soul earns nothing except against itself.                                                    And no bearer of a burden bears the burden of another.                                             Then to your Lord God is your return                                                                              So that He informs you with what                                                                                         You have been differing in.”

  • بِمَا — Bay-maa — All that (= Combination of two words. بِ  means ‘with / in’ and مَاۤ  means ‘all that, whatever, whatsoever or whenever.’ The combination بِمَا (bay-maa) means ‘because of; on account of; for the reason; due to; with / in all that. A/t/a,  ‘the truth of things,’ ‘of that’ and ‘about  that (truth)’
  • كُنۡـتُمۡ — Koon-toom — You have been (= Since the past were and have been continuously. It is a combination of two words. The first word is  كُنۡ  which means have or had been since the past. The second word is  تُمۡ  that means you all men and that is how the  Holy Qor-aan has addressed men and women jointly. A/t/a, ‘you have been,’ ‘you used to,’ ‘ye’ and ‘your’ [njd]
  • فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Contained or inside a duration, event, place, period, person, phenomenon, situation, thing or time. Also, concerning; in reference, regarding, relative to. See Note 002:028. A/t/a, ‘Wherein’)
  • هِ  — Hay — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid group of four rules of universal applications. A/t/a, ‘which’)
  • تَخۡتَلِفُوۡنَ‏ — Tukh-ta-lay-foo-n — Differing (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Conflicting; disagreeing; disputing. Having conflicting opinions, contradictory stands and clashing views. A/t/a, ‘differing,’ ‘disagreeing’ and ‘differ.’ But ‘ye disputed,’ ‘ye differed,’ ‘you differed’ and ‘you used to differ’ which are verb in the past tense – as well as ‘disputes’ which is a noun – are no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated with a verb in the present tense)

  لَا شَرِيۡكَ لَهٗ‌ۚ وَبِذٰلِكَ اُمِرۡتُ وَاَنَا اَوَّلُ الۡمُسۡلِمِيۡنَ‏

 

Laa  sha-re-ka  la  hoo  wa  bay  zaa-lay-ka  o-mir-to                                                                    Wa  aa-na  auw-wa-lo  ol-moos-lay-mee-n

 

No partner for Him exists. And with this I’m commanded.                                  And I am at the top of the submissive – who have surrendered to Allah.

 

  • لَا — Laa — No (= Naught; never; none; nor; not at all; absolute denial)
  • شَرِيۡكَ — Sha-re-ka — Partner (= n., s., Associate; partner; sharer. See Note 004:037. A/t/a, ‘associate-partner’ and ‘peer’)
  • لَ — La — For (= For the object, person, purpose or reason of; intended for; meant for; concerning; regarding; relative to. A/t/a, ‘hath’ and ‘has’)

قُلۡ اِنَّ صَلَاتِىۡ وَنُسُكِىۡ وَ مَحۡيَاىَ وَمَمَاتِىۡ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَۙ‏ 

 

Qool-in-na-sa-laa-tee-wa-no-so-kee-wa-mah-ya-ya                                                                  Wa-ma-maa-tee-lil-laa-hay-rub-bil-aa-la-mee-n

 

 Say, “Surely my prayers and my worship and my life                                              And my death for Allah, the Lord Provider to the Universe.

It means the Universe, all His creations, all that exists in whole Universe, all that has life, and Mankind.  See Note 001:002. قُلۡ اِنَّنِىۡ هَدٰٮنِىۡ رَبِّىۡۤ اِلٰى صِرَاطٍ مُّسۡتَقِيۡمٍ ۚ  دِيۡنًا قِيَمًا مِّلَّةَ اِبۡرٰهِيۡمَ حَنِيۡفًا‌  ۚ  وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ الۡمُشۡرِكِيۡنَ‏ 

 

Qool-in-na-nee-ha-daa-nee-rub-bee-elaa-say-raa-tim-moos-ta-qee-m                                    De-nun-qay-yaa-mum-mil-la-ta-ib-raa-he-ma-ha-nee-faa                                                        Wa-maa-kaa-na-may-nul-moosh-ray-kee-n

 

Say, “Surely my God has guided me to the right Road                                                  The religion that established the nation of Abraham, the Righteous.                      And he was not among the idolaters.

Islam 106 – Religion Established Nation

ISLAM – 106

Practiced  Religion  Established  Nation  of  followers

 

Accurate translation of an original is a must for anyone who does such work. Accurate translation of the Holy Qor-aan is what we pray that the Almighty God enables us to do, and we try to do so to our best.

But many people see such results rather dimmed in some of the published translations by A John Arberry [aja], A Rahman Omar [aro], A Yusuf Ali [aya], D Ahmad Zidan [daz], M Ghulam Farid [mgf], M Mohammad Ali [mma], M Mohsin Khan [mmk], Marmaduke Pickthall [mmp], M Sher Ali [msa], M Taqi Usmani [mtu], M Zafrulla Khan [mzk], N J Dawood [njd], Quran Dictionary [qd] and T Din Al-Hilali [tda] as shown below..

I

The word   دِّيۡنَ (dean) means a Religion or Divine Rules. What is conveyed in the message is bound to happen, like The End, The Resurrection, the Day of Judgment. The Holy Qor-aan has used this word in many contexts and floodlighted the covered matter in verses including 002:218, 002:257, 003:074, 003:086, 004:126, 004:147, 004:172, 005:004, 005:055, 006:160, 006:162 etc.

But various authors have translated this word differently. Some [mzk, daz] called it Faith since that is displayed by its followers. Some [mmk, tda] said it is ‘Islamic Monotheism, the right and true religion since they were Muslim.’ Some called it a ‘straight path’ [aja, mtu, qd]. Some labelled it a Belief System as its adherents believe in it. Some just show an Authors Whim.

II

The word قِيَمًا (qay-yay-mun) means the concepts, contents or conclusions that have been acted upon, confirmed, established, firmed up, implemented, proven right after they were put into practice, solidified or worked. The Holy Qor-aan has used this word in verse 006:162.

And this word has been translated as right [aja, aya, mma, mmp, mgf, mmk, msa, qd], upright religion [njd], true [aro, daz], perfect [mzk] and straight [qd].

III

The word مِّلَّةَ   (mil-la-ta) means a Nation, community, creed, group or set of people who follow the principles and precepts provided by the religion they follow. Their lifestyle and way of life is what their religion has chalked out for them as the line, path, road or way to follow in life. The Holy Qor-aan has used this word in verse 002:136, 003:096, 004:126, 006:162.

And this word has been translated as a path, community [mmp], creed [aja, aro], faith [mma, mtu, njd], religion [aro, daz, mgf, msa,, mmk, mzk, qd, tda] and way [aya].

IV

The verse 006:162 has used all three words chronologically. The entire section means that the Religion that was practiced establishing a Nation of followers for Abraham, a.s.

  مَنۡ جَآءَ بِالۡحَسَنَةِ فَلَهٗ عَشۡرُ اَمۡثَالِهَا‌ ۚ وَمَنۡ جَآءَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ فَلَا يُجۡزٰٓى اِلَّا مِثۡلَهَا وَهُمۡ لَا يُظۡلَمُوۡنَ‏

           

 Mun-jaa-aa-bil-ha-sa-na-tay-fa-la-hoo-ush-ra-um-thaa-lay-haa                                          Wa-mun-jaa-aa-bis-suy-ya-tay-fa-laa-yooj-zaa-il-laa-mith-la-haa                                        Wa-hoom-laa-yooz-la-moo-n

 

The reward for one who came with the goodness is ten times like it.                      And one who came with the bad won’t be awarded except just like it.                    And they won’t be wronged.

 اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ فَرَّقُوۡا دِيۡنَهُمۡ وَكَانُوۡا شِيَـعًا لَّسۡتَ مِنۡهُمۡ فِىۡ شَىۡءٍ‌ ؕ اِنَّمَاۤ اَمۡرُهُمۡ اِلَى اللّٰهِ ثُمَّ يُنَـبِّـئُـهُمۡ بِمَا كَانُوۡا يَفۡعَلُوۡنَ‏

           

In-nul-la-zee-na-fur-ra-qoo-dee-na-hoom-wa-kaa-noo-shay-ya-un                                        Lus-ta-min-hoom-fee-shai-in-inna-maa-um-ro-hoom-aiy-lul-laa-hay                                  Thoom-ma-yo-nub-bay-o-hoom-bay-maa-kaa-noo-yauf-aa-loo-n

 

Surely those who cut up their religion and had been a sect are such that              You are not among them at all. Surely their fate rests with Allah.                            Then He informs them with what they have been doing.

  1. Tafsir Al-Qurtubi has quoted that when reciting this verse, the Holy Prophet, a.w. said, “These people are those who invent new things (Bid’ah) in religion and the followers of the vain desires of this Muslim nation and their repentance will not be accepted by Allah.”
  2. The books of Hadeeth At-Tirmidh, Ibn Maja and Abu Dawud narrated the Holy Prophet, a.w, “ The Jews and Christians will be divided into seventy-one or seventy-two religious sects and this nation will be divided into seventy-three religious sects, all in Hell, except one, and that one is: on which I and my Companions are today, i.e. following the Qur’an and the Prophet’s Sunnah (legal ways, orders, acts of worship, statements).”

Author M Ghulam Farid has said that “When people begin to follow their own caprices and fancies, differences arise among them and unanimity of the views disappears.”

  يٰۤـاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا لَا تَسۡـــَٔلُوۡا عَنۡ اَشۡيَآءَ اِنۡ تُبۡدَ لَـكُمۡ تَسُؤۡكُمۡ‌ ۚ  وَاِنۡ تَسۡــَٔـلُوۡا عَنۡهَا حِيۡنَ يُنَزَّلُ الۡقُرۡاٰنُ تُبۡدَ لَـكُمۡ  ؕ عَفَا اللّٰهُ عَنۡهَا‌  ؕ وَاللّٰهُ غَفُوۡرٌ حَلِيۡمٌ‏ 

 

Yaa-auy-yo-hul-la-zee-na-aa-ma-noo-laa-tus-aa-loo                                                                    Un-ush-yaa-aa-in-oob-da-la-koom-ta-soo-koom                                                                            Wa-in-tus-aa-loo-un-haa-he-na-yo-nuz-zay-lool-qor-aa-no                                                        Toob-da-la-koom-aa-ful-laa-ho-un-haa                                                                                            Wul-laa-ho-gha-foo-roor-ra-heem

 

Listen, you all who have believed! You do not ask                                                          About things that will hurt you if disclosed to you.                                                      And if you ask about them while Qor-aan is being entrusted                                      That will be disclosed to you. Allah has withheld showing them.                            And by God Allah is Utmost Forgiving, Utmost Forbearing.

 

The Holy Qor-aan has used the Phrase Yaa-auy-yo-hul-la-zee-na-aa-ma-noo many times

  • يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; hearken; pay attention; O!)
  • اَيُّهَا — Auy-yo-ha(ul) — You all (= All addressees; entire audience; whole lot of listeners)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Those articles, things or persons
  • اٰمَنُوۡۤ — Aa-ma-noo — They Believed (= v., past., pl., 3rd person.  Believed in the Holy Qor-aan; became Moslems. Accepted, acknowledged, admitted or witnessed their entry in Iss-laam.   • تَسُؤۡ — Ta-soo — Hurt (= v., pres., pl. 2nd person. Cause anguish or pain; harm. A/t/a, ‘would cause … trouble,’ ‘would give … trouble,’ ‘would trouble,’ ‘may … cause trouble,’ ‘would become burdensome,’ ‘would vex’ and ‘would only pain’)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all men. See  كُمۡ  above)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • اِنۡ — In — If (= In case; when; whenever. See اِنۡ  above. A/t/a, ‘though if’)
  • تَسۡـــَٔلُوۡا — Tua-aa-loo — You ask (= v., pres., pl. 2nd person. Demand. See  تَسۡـــَٔلُوۡا above)
  • عَنۡ — Un — From (= About; concerning; regarding. See عَنۡ  above)
  • هَا — Haa — Them (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to the aforesaid. A/t/a, ‘things’)
  • حِيۡنَ — He-na — While (= As long as; during the time; when)
  • يُنَزَّلُ — Yo-nuz-za-lo — Is being entrusted (= v. passive., pres., pl., 3rd person. Is descended, landed, lowered or sent down. A/t/a, ‘is being sent down’ and ‘being revealed’)
  • الۡقُرۡاٰنُ — Qor-aa-no — Qoran (= n., The Holy scripture entrusted or sent down to the Holy Prophet, s.a.w)
  • تُبۡدَ — Toob-da — Disclosed (= v., pres., pass., 3rd person. Exposed. See تُبۡدَ   above. A/t/a,  ‘will be revealed,’ ‘will be explained,’ ‘shall be made plain’ and ‘will be made plain’)
  • لَ — La — For (= For the object; concerning; regarding. See لَ  above)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all men. See  كُمۡ above)
  • عَفَا — Aa-faa.. (ul) — Withheld (= v., past., s., 3rd person., Blotted out; excused; exonerated; forgiven; given a pass; looked the other way; omitted; overlooked; relieved. Chose to burden less. A/t/a, ‘left … out,’ ‘left … out on purpose,’ ‘(yet) … has passed over this (detailed mentioning on purpose),’ ‘has forgiven’ and ‘pardoned.’ However, ‘will forgive’ and ‘will pardon’ which are verbs in the future tense and ‘pardons’ and   ‘pardoneth’ which are verbs in the present tense are no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in a verb in the past tense)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • عَنۡ — Un — Regarding (= About; concerning; See  عَنۡ  above. A/t/a, ‘for’)
  • هَا — Haa — Them (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to aforesaid asking. A/t/a, ‘those … things,’ and ‘this’)
  • وَ — Wa … (ul) — And (= The وَ  vaao when used with the Almighty God’s name is tantamount to taking oath with His name; solemn declaration or calling as a witness. Normally a Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • غَفُوۡرٌ — Gha-foo-rur — Utmost Forgiving (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most, and highlights that none more than Him is Who excuses, overlooks and pardons. Forgiving for the past and protecting in the future from crimes,  errors, faults, sins and wrongs. See 001:001. A/t/a, ‘Oft-forgiving,’ ‘Forgiving,’ ‘Most Forgiving,’ ‘All-forgiving’ and ‘Great Protector’)
  • حَلِيۡمٌ‏  — Ha-lee-m — Utmost Forbearing (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most and none more than Him accommodates, excuses, forbears, indulges, overlooks, pardons, puts up with and tolerates. Highly Tolerant and Indulgent. See 001:001. A/t/a ‘Most Forbearing,’ ‘Forbearing,’ ‘Clement,’ ‘Ever Forbearing,’ ‘All-Forbearing’ and ‘gracious’)

The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                     005:101

 

قُلْ لَّا يَسۡتَوِى الۡخَبِيۡثُ وَالطَّيِّبُ وَلَوۡ اَعۡجَبَكَ كَثۡرَةُ الۡخَبِيۡثِ‌ ۚ  فَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ يٰۤاُولِى الۡاَ لۡبَابِ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُفۡلِحُوۡنَ ‏

 

Qool-laa-yus-ta-wil-kha-be-tho-wut-toy-yay-bo                                                                            Wa-lao-aau-ja-ba-ka-kuth-ra-tool-kha-be-thay                                                                          Fut-ta-qool-laa-ha-yaa-o-lil-ul-baa-b                                                                                                La-ul-la-koom-toof-lay-hoo-n

 

Say, “Not equal are the bad and the good                                                                            And even if the abundance of bad had pleased you.                                       Therefore, love Allah! You all with the understanding!                                              So that you prosper.

  

  • قُلۡ — Qool — Say (= v., s, 2nd person. Announce; call; convey; explain; inform; instruct; proclaim; profess; propagate; state; teach, tell; train or tutor. See Commentary ‘You say’ means and Note 112:002. A/t/a, ‘Tell them’ and ‘Say (O Muhammad s.a.w)’
  • لَا — Laa — Not (= Naught; neither; never; none; nor; not at all; absolute denial and total negation without exception)
  • يَسۡتَوِى — Yus-ta-vee(l) — Equal (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Become equal or same; equate.  A/t/a, ‘alike’)
  • الۡخَبِيۡثُ — Kha-be-so — The bad (= n., Evil; something that’s no good. A/t/a, ‘The bad,’ ‘the evil,’ ‘evil,’ ‘things That are bad,’ ‘That which is useless,’ ‘The bad and impure,’ ‘impure’ and ‘Al-Khabith (all that is evil and bad as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons and foods’)
  • وَ — Wa … (ut) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet. A/t/a, ‘even though’)
  •  الطَّيِّبُ –Toy-ay-bo — The good (= n., pl., Appropriate, clean, holy, lawful, pious; pure. A/t/a, ‘the good,’ ‘Good,’ ‘things That are good,’ ‘useful,’ ‘the good and pure,’ ‘pure’ and ‘At-Tayyib (all that is good as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons and foods’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • لَوۡ — Lao — If (= In case; under the circumstances; wish; would. A/t/a, ‘even though’ and ‘though’)
  • اَعۡجَبَ — Aau-ja-ba — Had pleased (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Allured, comforted or made happy a lot. Soothed a great deal. Pleased extremely, highly and very much. A/t/a, ‘dazzle,’ ‘attract,’ ‘please,’ ‘cause thee to wonder,’ ‘charm,’ ‘allure … much’ and ‘tempts’)
  • كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. A/t/a, ‘ye’ and ‘thee’)
  • كَثۡرَةُ — Kuth-ra-to(ol) — Abundance (= n., Copiousness; great or large quantity; lavishness; lots of; plenteousness; profusion; A/t/a, ‘plenty’ and ‘appear pleasing’)
  • الۡخَبِيۡثِ‌ — Kha-be-thay    Bad and evil    (= n., Unclean stuff. See الۡخَبِيۡثُ  above)
  • فَ — Fa … (ut) — Therefore (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; in conclusion; so; thereafter; therefore; thus)

The Holy Qor-aan has used the Phrase Wut-ta-qool-laa-ha … in many contexts

  • وَ — Wa … (ut) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses.  See وَ   above)
  • اتَّقُوا — Ta-qoo … (la) — You love (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Act piously and avoid angering Allah by being deeply in love with Him; be afraid, pious or righteous. See our Commentary titled as The Righteous. Also, ‘fear,’ ‘be mindful of your duty,’ ‘keep your duty,’ ‘take as a shield (seeking refuge in),’’ ‘Have fear’ and ‘be godfearing’)
  • ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
  • يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; hearken; pay attention; O!. A/t/a, ‘O ye’ and ‘O’)
  • اُولِى‏ — O-lil — Those with (= Masters; owners; those who have. A/t/a, ‘who possess,’ ‘that,’ ‘men of,’ ‘O men,’ ‘you people’ and ‘people’)
  • ٱلۡأَلۡبَـٰبِ — Ul-baa-b — Understanding (= n., Balanced view; common sense; comprehension; high intellect; pure wisdom; real sense; awareness; with clear and sound mind and wisdom. A/t/a, ‘understand,’ ‘of pure and clear understanding’ and ‘who possess minds’)

The result stated in next three (3) words is in verses 003:201, 005:036, 005:091, 005:101, 062:011, etc.

  • لَعَلَّ — La-ul-la — So that (= Haply; hopefully; perchance; perhaps; possibly; maybe; wanting and wishing the result to be. A/t/a, ‘That (so),’ ‘that,’ ‘that … may’ and ‘in order that’)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person., You men. The Holy Qor-aan has addressed men and women jointly this way. A/t/a, ‘ye’)
  • تُفۡلِحُوۡنَ — Toof-lay-hoo-n — Prosper (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Be victorious and winner; grow; succeed; triumph; win. . A/t/a, ‘succeed,’ ‘attain the goal,’ ‘be successful’ and ‘triumph’)
