قَالَ الۡمَلَاُ الَّذِيۡنَ اسۡتَكۡبَرُوۡا مِنۡ قَوۡمِهٖ لَـنُخۡرِجَنَّكَ يٰشُعَيۡبُ وَالَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا مَعَكَ مِنۡ قَرۡيَتِنَاۤ اَوۡ لَـتَعُوۡدُنَّ فِىۡ مِلَّتِنَا‌ ؕ قَالَ اَوَلَوۡ كُنَّا كَارِهِيۡنَ

 

Qaa-la  ul-ma-la-o  la-ze-na
Aus-tauk-ba-roo  min  qao-may  he
La  nookh-ray-jaun-na  ka  yaa  Sho-ai-bo
Wa  aul-la-ze-na  ma-aa  ka  min  qaur-ya-tay  naa
Auo  la  ta-oo-doon-na  fee  mil-la-tay  naa
Qaa-la  aa  wa  lao  koon-naa  kaa-ray-hee-n

 

Said the leaders of those who
Sought to be great with arrogance from among his people,
“We will expel you, O Shoaib
And those who believed along with you from our town
Or you all revert to our religion.”
He said, “And what if we have been repelling that?”

 

Next seven (7) words are repeated in four (4) verses except for
كَفَرُوۡا in 007:067 & 007:091 and اسۡتَكۡبَرُوۡا in 007:076 & 007:089

  • اسۡتَكۡبَرُوۡا — Aus-tauk-ba-roo — Sought to be great with arrogance (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Acted with arrogance. Behaved boastfully. Bragged haughtily. Considered themselves to be great and were very proud of that. Pride-stricken. Puffed with pride. Scorned. Smug or smitten with complex. Took pride. Were egotist or vanity rich. A/t/a, ‘behaved proudly’ and ‘considered themselves strong and great.’ But the noun/adj as in ‘the arrogant party,’ ‘arrogant,’ ‘who were arrogant’  and ‘haughty’ has not translated the Holy Qor-aan text that has a verb in it)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From among (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon. A/t/a, ‘among’ and ‘of’)
  • قَوۡمِ — Qao-may — People (= n., s., Addressees; attendees; fellows; followers; folks;  nation; party; people; tribe)
  • هٖ — He — His (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the Prophet Shoaib)
  • لَ — La — Certainly (= Absolutely; assuredly; categorically; clearly, definitely;  doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; positively; really; truly; seriously; sincerely; specifically; surely; verily. A/t/a, ‘Assuredly’ and ‘surely’)
  • نُخۡرِجَنَّ — Nookh-ray-jaun-na — We expel (= v., pres., pl., 1st person. Banish. Compulsorily drive out. Deport. Eject. Evict. Exile. Force out. Throw out. A/t/a, ‘we shall … drive … out,’ ‘we will drive … out,’ ‘we will … turn … out,’ ‘we will expel’  and ‘we will banish’)
  • كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You one man. Refers to the Prophet Shoaib. A/t/a, ‘thee’)
  • يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; hearken; pay attention; O!)

The 1st word  كُنۡ  conveys the continuation from the past to the present and leading into the   future. The 2nd word  نَآ   means ‘all of us.’ Jointly the two words mean ‘we had been’, ‘we ‘used to.’ A/t/a, ‘we’ and ‘we should?’)
  • كَارِهِيۡنَ — Kaa-ray-hee-n — Repelling (= adj., Disgustful. Disgusting. Foul. Haters. Hideous. Loathsome. Nauseating. Repelling. Repugnant. Repulsive. Revolting. Vile. Yucky. A/t/a, But the verbs used in ‘do detest (them),’ ‘dislike (it),’ ‘be unwilling,’ ‘are unwilling (at heart),’ ‘we hate it,’ ‘we detest it,’ ‘we abhor your creed,’ ‘hate’ and   have not translated the noun/adj used in the Holy Qor-aan text).

وَاِنۡ كَانَ طَآٮِٕفَةٌ مِّنۡكُمۡ اٰمَنُوۡا بِالَّذِىۡۤ اُرۡسِلۡتُ بِهٖ وَطَآٮِٕفَةٌ لَّمۡ يُؤۡمِنُوۡا فَاصۡبِرُوۡا حَتّٰى يَحۡكُمَ اللّٰهُ بَيۡنَنَا‌ ۚ وَهُوَ خَيۡرُ الۡحٰكِمِيۡنَ‏

 

Wa  in  kaa-na  taa-aiy-fa-toon  min  koom
Aa-ma-noo  bay-il  la-ze  oor-sil-to  bay  he
Wa  taa-aiy-fa-toon  laum  yoe-may  fa  us-ba-roo
Hut-taa  yah-ko-ma  ul-laa-ho  bai-na  naa
Wa  ho-wa  khai-ro  ol-haa-kay-mee-n

 

And if among you was a group who
Believed that with which I was sent,
And a group who has not believed, then be patient
Until Allah judges between us.
And He is the best of Judges.

وَلَا تَقۡعُدُوۡا بِكُلِّ صِرَاطٍ تُوۡعِدُوۡنَ وَتَصُدُّوۡنَ عَنۡ سَبِيۡلِ اللّٰهِ مَنۡ اٰمَنَ بِهٖ وَتَبۡغُوۡنَهَا عِوَجًا‌ ۚ وَاذۡكُرُوۡۤا اِذۡ كُنۡتُمۡ قَلِيۡلًا فَكَثَّرَكُمۡ‌وَانْظُرُوۡا كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الۡمُفۡسِدِيۡنَ‏

 

Wa  laa  tauq-o-do  bay  kool-lay  say-raa-tin  too-aiy-do-na
Wa  ta-sood-do-na  aun  sa-be-lay  il-laa-hay  maun  ama-na  bay  he
Wa  taub-ghoo-na  haa  aiy-wa-jaa
Wa  uz-ko-roo  iz  koon-toom  qa-le-laun  fa  kauth-tha-ra  koom
Fa  un-zo-roo  kai-fa  kaa-na  aa-qay-ba-to  ul-moof-say-deen

 

And do not sit on every road promising hurt
And obstructing from the road to Allah anyone who believed in Him
And seeking it was crooked.
Remember when you were so little but He made you large in number.
And look at what has been the fate of the Disrupters.

وَاِلٰى مَدۡيَنَ اَخَاهُمۡ شُعَيۡبًا‌ ؕ قَالَ يٰقَوۡمِ اعۡبُدُوا اللّٰهَ مَا لَـكُمۡ مِّنۡ اِلٰهٍ غَيۡرُهٗ‌ ؕ قَدۡ جَآءَتۡكُمۡ بَيِّنَةٌ مِّنۡ رَّبِّكُمۡ‌ فَاَوۡفُوا الۡكَيۡلَ وَالۡمِيۡزَانَ وَلَا تَبۡخَسُوا النَّاسَ اَشۡيَآءَهُمۡ وَلَا تُفۡسِدُوۡا فِى الۡاَرۡضِ بَعۡدَ اِصۡلَاحِهَا‌ ؕ ذٰ لِكُمۡ خَيۡرٌ لَّـكُمۡ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ مُّؤۡمِنِيۡنَ‌ ۚ

 

Wa  aiy-laa  maud-ya-na  aa-khaa  hoom  sho-ai-baa
Qaa-la  yaa  qao-may  e-bo-doo  l-laa-ha
Maa  la  koom  min  aiy-laa-hin  ghai-ro  hoo
Qaud  jaa-aut  koom  buy-yay-na-toon  min  raub-bay  koom

Fa  auo-foo  l-kai-la  wa  ul-me-zaa-na
Wa  laa  taub-kha-soo  n-naa-sa  aush-yaa-aa  hoom
Wa  laa  toof-say-do  fee  il-aur-dzay  bau-da  iss-laa-hay  haa
Zaa-lay-koom  khai-roon  la  koom  in  koon-toom  moe-may-nee-n

 

And to Maudyana tribe We sent their brother Shoaib
He said, “Listen my people! Worship Allah.
You have no god to worship besides Him.
You have a clear guidance come from your God.

So fulfil the measuring and the weighing.
And do not cheat people in their dealings.
And do not mess up the world after its set in order.
All this is best for you when you have been Believers.”

وَاَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ مَّطَرًا ‌ؕ فَانْظُرۡ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الۡمُجۡرِمِيۡنَ

Wa  um-taur-naa  aa-lai  him  ma-ta-raun
Fa  un-zoor  kai-fa  kaa-na  aa-qay-ba-to  ol-mooj-ray-mee-n

 

And we poured on them a very heavy pouring of rain
So look at how had been the fate of the criminals.

فَاَنۡجَيۡنٰهُ وَاَهۡلَهٗۤ اِلَّا امۡرَاَتَهٗ ‌ۖ كَانَتۡ مِنَ الۡغٰبِرِيۡنَ‏

 

Fa  aun-jai-naa  ho  wa  ah-la  hoo  il-la  um-ra-aa-to  hoo
Kaa-naut  may-na  ul-ghaa-bay-ree-n

 

So We extracted him and his family except his wife.
She had been among the laggers.

وَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوۡمِهٖۤ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡ قَالُـوۡۤا اَخۡرِجُوۡهُمۡ مِّنۡ قَرۡيَتِكُمۡ‌ ۚ اِنَّهُمۡ اُنَاسٌ يَّتَطَهَّرُوۡنَ

 

Wa  maa  kaa-na  ja-waa-ba  qao-may  he   il-laa  aun  qaa-loo
Aukh-ra-joo  hoom  min   quar-ya-tay  koom
In-na  hoom  o-naa-soon
Ya-ta-yauh-ha-roo-na

 

And no answer was of his people except that they said,
“Expel these people from your town.
They surely are people thinking that way
They cleanse themselves.”

In-na  koom  la  tau-to-na  ur-ray-jaa-la
Shauh-wa-taun  min  do-nay  n-nay-saa-aiy
Baul  aun-toom  qao-moon  moos-ray-foo-na

 

You surely come to men
In lust instead of the women.
Really you are a nation of transgressors.

  • بَلۡ — Baul — Really (= Aye; but; but the truth is; however; indeed; instead; in truth; nay; nevertheless; of course; on the contrary; rather; really; truthfully; verily; yea but; yes indeed.  A/t/a, ‘Nay,’ ‘the fact is that,’ ‘indeed’ and ‘Truly’)
  • اَنۡـتُمۡ — Aun-toom — Surely you (= pro., pl., 2nd person. This is a combination of  اَنۡ (Aun) that means absolutely, clearly, really, surely, truly or verily and  تُمۡ  (toom) that is for the pronoun you. A/t/a, ‘you are’ and ‘ye are’)
  • قَوۡمٌ — Qao-moon … (m) — People (= n., s., Addressees; attendees; fellows; followers; folks; nation; party; people; Tribe. A/t/a, ‘folk’)
  • مُّسۡرِفُوۡنَ‏ — Moos-ray-foon — Transgressors (= n., pl. Those abusing power, committing excesses or extravagant in waste. A/t/a, ‘who exceed all bounds,’ ‘who transgress all limits,’ ‘transgressors’ wanton’ and ‘degenerate.’ But the verbs such as in ‘transgressing beyond bounds (by committing great sin),’ ‘transgressing beyond bounds’ and ‘exceeding bounds’ are not accurate translations of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated as a noun)

وَلُوۡطًا اِذۡ قَالَ لِقَوۡمِهٖۤ اَتَاۡتُوۡنَ الۡفَاحِشَةَ مَا سَبَقَكُمۡ بِهَا مِنۡ اَحَدٍ مِّنَ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَ

 

Wa  loo-taun  iz  qaa-la  lay  qao-may  he
Aa  tau-too-na  ul-faa-hay-sha-ta
Maa  sa-ba-qa  koom  bay  haa
Min  aa-ha-din  may-na  ul-aa-la-mee-n

 

 And Lot said to his people,
“Do you come with lewdness
That none exceeded you in doing it
From anyone in all the worlds.

Inherently bad, evil, foul, immoral, improper, lewd, obscene, repulsive, shameful, sinful or unseemly act, conduct, deed, practice or thing. Open foul infraction. Sexual perversion. Violation. It means the Worlds, the whole wide world of the Age, nations of the time, contemporaries in towns or territory of a known period, and people in given cities or countries. See Note 001:002. The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                               007:080

 

فَتَوَلّٰى عَنۡهُمۡ وَقَالَ يٰقَوۡمِ لَقَدۡ اَبۡلَغۡتُكُمۡ رِسَالَةَ رَبِّىۡ وَنَصَحۡتُ لَـكُمۡ وَلٰـكِنۡ لَّا تُحِبُّوۡنَ النّٰصِحِيۡنَ‏

 

Fa  ta-waul-la  aun  hoom  wa  qaa-la
Yaa  qao-may  la  qaud  aub-laugh-to  koom
Ray-saa-la-ta  raub-bee  wa  na-sauh-to  la  koom
Wa  laa  kin  laa  to-hib-boo-na  un-naa-say-hee-n 

 

 Then he turned from them and said,
“My people, I delivered to you
A message from my God and I have advised you
But you do not like the advisers.”

  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You men. The Holy Qor-aan has often used this word for both men and women jointly. A/ta, ‘unto you’ and ‘to you’)
  • رِسَالَةَ — Ray-aa-la-ta — Message (= n., s., Communication; revelation. A/t/a, ‘message’ and ‘message for I was sent’)
