The Holy Qor-aan 002:081
.
وَقَالُوۡا لَنۡ تَمَسَّنَا النَّارُ اِلَّاۤ اَيَّامًا مَّعۡدُوۡدَةً ؕ قُلۡ اَتَّخَذۡتُمۡ عِنۡدَ اللّٰهِ عَهۡدًا فَلَنۡ يُّخۡلِفَ اللّٰهُ عَهۡدَهٗۤ اَمۡ تَقُوۡلُوۡنَ عَلَى اللّٰهِ مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ
Wa-qaa-loo-lun-ta-mus-sa-nun-naa-ro-il-laa-auy-yaa-mum-mau-doo-dah
Qool-ut-ta-khuz-toom-in-dul-laa-hay-ah-dun
Fa-lun-yookh-lay-ful-laa-ho-ah-da-hoo
Um-ta-qoo-loo-na-aa-lul-laa-hay-maa-laa-tau-la-moo-n.
And they said, “The fire is not going to touch us except for a few days.”
You ask, “Have you taken a promise from Allah?
Then He will not violate His promise.
Or do you say about Allah what you do not know?”
- وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
- قَا لُوۡا — Qaa-loo — They said (= v., past., pl., m; 3rd person. Announced; asserted; told; boasted; broadcast; claimed; conveyed; professed; elaborated; explained; expounded; informed; stated)
- لَن — Lun — Never (= Absolute denial; no; not; not at all; total negation)
- تَمَسَّ — Ta-mus-sa — Touch (= Affect; cause; come close)
- نَآ — Na…(un) — Us (= pro., pl., m & f., 1st person. We / us)
- النَّارُ — Naa-ro — The Fire (= Anger, punishment or wrath of Allah; hell; hell fire; purgatory. The Fire of punishment. Literally, the rapid sustained reaction or source of releasing light and heat)
- اِلَّا –Il-laa –Except (= Apart from; besides; excluding; save; unless)
- اَيَّامًاً — Auy-yaa-m.(um) — Days (= Pl., End of several periods, terms or times; junctures)
- مَّعۡدُوۡدَةً — Mau-do-dah — A few (= s., A few, limited or small number of days; counted; numbered; certain specific number)
- قُلۡ — Qool — You ask (= v., Announce; admonish; convey; demand; question; say; state; tell; warn)
- اَ — Aa…(ut) — Have (= Question mark like: Are? Can? Do? Shell? Will?)
- تَّخَذ — Utta-khuz — Taken (= Got; received; took)
- تُمۡ — Toom — You (= pl., m., 2nd person. You men. Here the reference is to the Israelites بَنِىۡٓ اِسۡرَآءِيۡلَ. Generally this way the Holy Qor-aan addresses both men and women)
- عِنۡدَ — In-d…(ul) — From (= In the counting, estimation, eyes front, near, presence or sight of. Close at hand. With)
- اللّٰهِ –Laa-hay –Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
- عَهۡدًا — Aha-dun –Pledge (= Covenant; promise; solemn undertaking)
- فَ — Fa — Then (= Consequently; as a result; so; thereafter; therefore; yet)
- لَن — Lun…(yo) — Never (= Absolute denial; no; not; not at all; total negation)
- يُّخۡلِفَ — Yookh-lay-fa-u(l) — Violate (= Break; fail to perform; flout; go against; terminate)
- للّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
- عَهۡدَ — Ah-da — Pledge (= Covenant; promise; solemn undertaking)
- هٗۤ — Hoo — His (= pr., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to The Almighty God)
- اَمۡ — Um — Do (= Question mark like are, could, did, dad, should, would?)
- تَقُوۡلُوۡنَ — Ta-qoo-loo-na — You say (= (= v., pres, pl., m, 2nd person. Allege; announce; assert; allege; attribute; boast; broadcast; call; claim; convey; inform; maintain; profess; specify; state; tell)
- عَلَى — Aa-l…(ul) — About (= Concerning; regarding)
- اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
- مَاۤ — Maa — What (= All that; whatever; whatsoever)
- لَا — Laa — Not (= Absolute denial; never; no; not at all; total negation)
- تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ — Tau-la-moo-n — You know (= v., Aware; in the know of; knowingly; knowledgeable)
