The Holy Qor-aan 003:065
قُلۡ يٰۤـاَهۡلَ الۡكِتٰبِ تَعَالَوۡا اِلٰى كَلِمَةٍ سَوَآءٍۢ بَيۡنَـنَا وَبَيۡنَكُمۡ اَلَّا نَـعۡبُدَ اِلَّا اللّٰهَ وَلَا نُشۡرِكَ بِهٖ شَيۡـــًٔا وَّلَا يَتَّخِذَ بَعۡضُنَا بَعۡضًا اَرۡبَابًا مِّنۡ دُوۡنِ اللّٰهِؕ فَاِنۡ تَوَلَّوۡا فَقُوۡلُوا اشۡهَدُوۡا بِاَنَّا مُسۡلِمُوۡنَ
Qool-yaa-aah-lul-kay-taa-bay-ta-aa-lao-elaa Ka-lay-ma-tin-sa-wa-in-bai-na-naa-wa-bai-na-koom Ul-laa-nau-bo-do-il-laa-ha Wa-laa-noosh-rik-bay-he-shai-un Wa-laa-yut-ta-khay-zo-bau-dzo-naa-bau-dzun Ur-baa-bun-min-doo-nil-laah Fa-in-ta-waul-lao-fa-qoo-lu(sh) Ush-ha-do-bay-un-naa-moos-lay-moo-n
Say, “Listen the people of Book! Come to A word which is common between us and you That we won’t worship anything besides Allah And we won’t ascribe anything to Him as partner And some of us won’t take others As gods besides Allah. But if they turn away, then you all say, “Be a witness that we indeed are submissive .”
- قُلۡ — Qool — You say (= v., s, 2nd person. Announce; assert; broadcast, call on; challenge; contend; convey, elaborate, explain, inform, insist, maintain, remind; specify, state or tell. See also Commentary titled as ‘You say’ means….‘)
- يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; hearken; pay attention; O!)
- اَهۡلَ — Aah-la…(ul) — People of (= Believers; citizens; folks; friends; masters; owners, people; population; supporters; those belonging to; those entrusted to; users)
- الۡكِتٰبِ — Ul-Kay-taa-bay — The Book (= n., The Divine Directive of Commands, Prohibitions and Regulations. Holy Scripture. See 002:003)
- تَعَالَوۡا — Ta-aa-lao — Come (= Come along. Come here. Let us do. We challenge or throw out gauntlet)
- اِلٰٓى — Elaa — To (= In the direction of; towards)
- كَلِمَةٍ — Ka-lay-ma-tin — A word (= n., s, Sign. Affirmation; announcement; assignment; command; declaration; inspiration; message; phrase; prayer; promise; proof. pronouncement; revelation; speech; statement. What combines many words to
form a message) - سَوَآءٍ — Sa-waa-in — Common (= Alike. Balanced & equal in fairness, justice and equity. Complete and competent. Designed and fashioned for equality. Equal. Flawless. Harmonious. In balanced good proportions. Perfectly reasonable. Same. Similar. Suitably settled. True. Well-proportioned.
- بَيۡنَ — Bai-na — Between (= Ahead, among; betwixt; facing or in front of)
- نَآ — Naa — Us (= pro., m & f., pl., 1st person. All of us; our; us all)
- وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
- بَيۡنَ — Bai-na — Between (= Ahead, among; betwixt; facing or in front of)
- کُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m, in 2nd person. Also Your / Yours. The addressees in the Scriptures generally cover both men and women)
- اَلَّا — Ul-laa — That + not (= Can’t, don’t or won’t. Not; fail to; refuse to; will not. This one word is a combination of two words. The 1st word is اَنۡ (un) and means that. The 2nd word is لَا (laa) and means never, no or not at all. The combination means ‘so that’ or ‘this result is due to the reason that’)
- نَعۡبُدُ — Nau-b-do — We worship (= v. pres., pl., 1st person. Extol; praise; serve; thank. Manner, method, person, way and what we worship)
- اِلَّا — Il-la…(ul) — Besides (= Apart from; except; excluding; save; unless)
- ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
- وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ above)
- لَا — Laa — Do not (= Absolute denial; never; not at all; total negation)
- نُشۡرِكَ — Noosh-rik– Ascribe (= Associate, attribute or set up anything or any person in our worship of the One and Only One God. Ascribe anything to share as equal partners to God Almighty)
- بِ — Bay — With (= This word in Arabic literally means ‘with’)
- هٖ — He — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the Almighty God)
- شَيۡـــًٔا — Shai-aa — Anything (= Something however little or insignificant. Smallest part of an article, item, object, material, thing, matter, type, phenomenon or stuff. To the least extent. Also, Some, something or somewhat of)
- وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ above)
- لَا — Laa — Won’t (= Absolute denial; never; not at all; total negation)
- يَتَّخِذَ — Yut-ta-khay-za — Take (= Adopt; catch; erect; hold; own; seize; set up; worship)
- بَعۡضُ — Bau-dzo — Some (= A few; a part; piece; fraction; portion; others)
- نَآ — Naa — Us (= pro., m & f., pl., 1st person. All of us; our; us all)
- بَعۡضًا — Bau-dzun — Others (= A few; a part; piece; fraction; portion; some)
- اَرۡبَابًا — Ur-baa-bun — Gods (= n., pl., Deities; Lords; overlords; patrons)
- مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class, category, count or kind of)
- دُوۡنِ — Doo-nay..(il) — Apart (= Apart from; besides; except; excluding; exclusive of; in preference to; other than; over and beyond; save; to the exclusion of the rest of)
- اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
- فَ — Fa — So (= As a result; consequently; hence; then; thereafter; therefore)
- اِنۡ — In — If (= In case; when; when situation arises; whenever)
- تَوَلَّوۡاْ — Ta-wul-lao — Turn away (= v., 1. Change or go in a different or opposite direction. 2, Act adversely; break agreement, compact, covenant or pact; compromise the truth; deviate from the right path; ignore; pay or give no heed; reverse; slide back; take wrong road; turn back)
- فَ — Fa –Then (= As a result; consequently; hence; thereafter; therefore)
- قُوۡلُوا — Qoo-l..(ush) — You all say (= v., pl, 2nd person. Announce, broadcast, call, convey, explain, inform, insist, maintain, persist, refuse, state, or tell. Note 112-002 & Commentary ‘You say’ means….‘)
- اشۡهَدُوۡا — Ush-hay-do — Be a witness (= v., Attest; bear witness; look at, take notice; observe; testify; verify)
- بِ — Bay — With (= This word in Arabic literally means ‘with’)
- اَنۡ — Un — Indeed (= Absolutely; certainly; decidedly; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; positively; really; surely; truly; verily)
- نَآ — Naa — We (= pro., m & f., pl., 1st person. Our; us all)
- مُسۡلِمُوۡنَ — Moos-lay-moo-n — Submissive (= n., pl., The believers. The worshippers surrendered to the will of God in dedication and devotion and so at peace. See Note 003:053)
* Note 003:065. The phrase كَلِمَةٍ سَوَآءٍۢ بَيۡنَـنَا وَبَيۡنَكُمۡ is translated differently as follows. Since the words matter, distinct shades of the meanings have been conveyed by the translators.
