 يٰۤـاَيُّهَا الرَّسُوۡلُ لَا يَحۡزُنۡكَ الَّذِيۡنَ يُسَارِعُوۡنَ فِى الۡكُفۡرِ مِنَ الَّذِيۡنَ قَالُوۡۤا اٰمَنَّا بِاَ فۡوَاهِهِمۡ وَلَمۡ تُؤۡمِنۡ قُلُوۡبُهُمۡ‌ ‌ۛۚ وَمِنَ الَّذِيۡنَ هَادُوۡا ‌ ۛۚ سَمّٰعُوۡنَ لِلۡكَذِبِ سَمّٰعُوۡنَ لِقَوۡمٍ اٰخَرِيۡنَۙ لَمۡ يَاۡتُوۡكَ ؕ يُحَرِّفُوۡنَ الۡـكَلِمَ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ مَوَاضِعِهٖ‌ ۚ  يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ اِنۡ اُوۡتِيۡتُمۡ هٰذَا فَخُذُوۡهُ وَاِنۡ لَّمۡ تُؤۡتَوۡهُ فَاحۡذَرُوۡا‌ ؕ  وَمَنۡ يُّرِدِ اللّٰهُ فِتۡنَـتَهٗ فَلَنۡ تَمۡلِكَ لَهٗ مِنَ اللّٰهِ شَيۡــًٔـا,ؕ اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ الَّذِيۡنَ لَمۡ يُرِدِ اللّٰهُ اَنۡ يُّطَهِّرَ قُلُوۡبَهُمۡ‌ ؕ لَهُمۡ فِىۡ الدُّنۡيَا خِزۡىٌ ۚۖ وَّلَهُمۡ فِىۡ الۡاٰخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيۡمٌ‏

 

Yaa  auy-yo-ha  ur-ra-soo-lo  laa  yauh-zoon  ka  ul-la-ze-na                                                      Yo-saa-ray-oo-na  fee  il-koof-ray  may-na  ul-la-ze-na                                                                Qaa-loo   aa-maun-naa  bay  auf-waa-hay  him                                                                              Wa  laum  toe-min  qo-loo-bo  hoom

Wa  may-na  ul-la-ze-na  haa-doo  saum-maa-oo-na  lay  il-ka-zay-bay                                  Saum-maa-oo  lay  qao-min  aa-kha-re-na  laum  yau-too  ka                                                    Yo-haur-ray-foo-na  ul-ka-lay-ma  min  bau-day  ma-waa-dzay  he                                        Ya-qoo-lo-na  in  oo-tee-toom  haa-zaa  fa  kho-zoo  ho                                                               Wa  in  laum-toe-too  ho  fa  auh-za-roo

Wa  maun  yo-ray-day  il-laa-ho  fit-na-ta  hoo                                                                              Fa  laun  taum-lay-ka  la  hoo  may-na  ul-laa-hay  shai-aa                                                        O-laa-aiy-ka  ul-la-ze-na  laum  yo-ray-day  il-laa-ho                                                                  Un  yo-tauh-hay-ra  qo-loo-bo  hoom                                                                                                La  hoom  fee  id-doon-ya  khiz-yoon  wa                                                                                          La  hoom  fee  il-aa-khay-ra-tay  aa-zaa-boon aa-zee-m

 

Listen, You the Messenger, those who                                                                            Hurry in the disbelief from among those who                                                            Said, “We have believed” with their mouths                                                                      But their hearts don’t believe,                                                                                                  Must not grieve you.    

And from among the Jews are listeners to the lies,                                                      Listeners to other people who have not come to you.                                                  They distort the word after it is put in its place.                                                        They say, “If you are given all this, then take it;                                                                But if you are not given, that then discard.”

And anyone Allah destines testing him, then                                                                  Against Allah you control for him nothing at all.                                                              They are those that Allah does not                                                                                        Destine cleansing their hearts.                                                                                               For them in this life is ignominy and                                                                                    For them in the Hereafter is a grievous punishment.

 

  • يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; hearken; pay attention; O!)
  • اَيُّ — Auy-yo — One of many (= Refers to a small number out of a much larger group)
  • هَا — Ha … (ur) — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to aforesaid group)
  • الرَّسُوۡلُ — Ra-soo-lo — The Messenger (= s., Apostle; messenger; prophet; sage; saint. A/t/a, ‘O Messenger (Muhammad s.a.w)’
  • لَا — Laa — Not (= Naught; neither; never; none; nor; not at all; absolute denial and total negation without exception. A/t/a, ‘let not,’ ‘on account of’ and ‘do not’)
  • يَحۡزُنۡ — Yauh-zoon — Grieve (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Cause to fear, grieve or worry. Also, feel anxious, frightened, saddened or worried)
  • كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. The addressee of this divine message is initially the Holy Prophet s.a.w. See the Note under 002:005)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Aul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid people)      
  • يُسَارِعُوۡنَ — Yo-saa-ray-oo-na — Hurry (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Enthusiastically doing the job that must be done; hastening to outdo; swiftly carrying out the assigned task; vying with each other; quicklyA/t/a, ‘hasten to,’ ‘rush,’ ‘race each other,’ ‘vie one with another in the race,’ ‘vie with one another,’ ‘plunge headlong,’ ‘hurry’ and ‘hastily fall’)
  • فِى — F… (il) — In (= About. concerning; reference, regarding, relative to; in the matter of. Also, in anything, duration, event, time, place, period or situation. See Note 002:028. A/t/a, ‘to,’ ‘into’ and ‘to fall into’)
  • الۡکُفۡرَ — Koof-ra — Disbelief (= n., Abuse, denial, failure, misuse, rejection or refusal to appreciate, thank, use or utilize any God-given ability, blessing, capacity, capability or opportunity afforded and talent endowed. See Commentary Believe and Disbelieve. A/t/a, ‘disbelief,’ ‘Unbelief’ and ‘(- spreading disbelief’)
  • مِنَ — May-na … (ul) — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon. A/t/a, ‘from among,’ ‘(Whether it be) among’ and ‘of such’)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Aul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid people . A/t/a, ‘such men as’)
  • قَالُوۡۤا — Qaa-loo — Said (= v., past., pl, 3rd person. Announced, assured; broadcast; called; conveyed; explained; informed; insisted; told; maintained; proclaimed; professed; stated. See Note 112:002 and Commentary ‘You say’ means‘. A/t/a, ‘say,’ ‘men who say’ and utter’ but stating that way in the present tense is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • اٰمَنَّا — Aaa-maun-naa — We have believed (= v., past., pl. 1st person. We have believed in the Holy Qor-aan and accepted Islam. Admitted, affirmed, approved, confirmed concurred, corroborated, entered, evidenced, proved, testified and witnessed to have become Moslems A/t/a, ‘We believe” but that in the present tense is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan that has stated in the past tense)
  • بِ  — Bay — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with)
  • اَ فۡوَاهِ — Auf-waa-hay — Mouths (= n., pl. Words spoken from mouths. Loudmouth talks or utterances. Words nakedly inferable or quite visible in malicious conduct, obvious hostilities and manners manifested by behavior and work. See Note 003:168. A/t/a, ‘lips,’ ‘mouths’ and ‘tongues’)
  • هِمۡ — Him — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Those men; they; their)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • لَمۡ — Lum — Not (= Absolutely never; no, not at all)
  • تُؤۡمِنۡ — Toe-min — Believe (= v., pres., f., 3rd person. Believe in the Holy Qor-aan. See اٰمَنَّا above. A/t/a, ‘have no faith’ and ‘believe not’)
  • قُلُوۡبُ — Qo-loo-bo — Hearts (= n., pl., 1. The central organ inside the chest of all living creatures that keeps up the supply of blood to every tissue by pumping blood constantly through veins and controls all body parts and directs all their functions. 2. Mind; inner soul; ability to think, choose, decide and act in an appropriate manner both physically and spiritually; understanding)
  • هُمۡ‌ — Hoom — Their (= pro., pl., m., 3 rd person. Those men; they; their)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ   above)
  • مِنَ — May-na … (ul) — From (= See مِنَ above. A/t/a, ‘Among,’ ‘of,’ ‘from’ or ‘out of aforesaid persons’)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Aul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid people)
  • هَادُوۡۤا — Haa-doo — Jews (= n., Refers to Jews. A/r/o. ‘who judaised.’ Literally the word meansThose who were once rightly guided’ as  opposed to those who were ‘misguided’)
  • سَمّٰعُوۡنَ — Sum-maa-oo-na — Listeners (= n., pl. Those who hear, listen or pay attention. A/t/a, ‘they are listeners,’ ‘listeners,’ ‘Men who will listen,’ ‘who eagerly listen to,’ ‘would fondly listen,’ ‘who listen,’ ‘acceptors’ and ‘listen much and eagerly’)
  • لِلۡ — L … (il) — For (= Concerning, regarding; relative to; intended for; to; towards. A/t/a, ‘for the sake of’)
  • كَذِبِ — Ka-zay-bay — Lies (= n., s. Fabrication; falsehood; lies. A/t/a, ‘a lie’ and ‘any lie’)
  • سَمّٰعُوۡنَ — Sum-maa-oo-na — Listeners (= n., pl. Those who hear or listen. See سَمّٰعُوۡنَ above)
  • لِ — Lay — For (= Concerning, regarding; relative to; intended for; to; towards. A/t/a, ‘for conveying them to’ and ‘for conveying it to‘)
  • قَوۡمٍ — Qao-min — People (= n., s., Folks; group of people; nation; society)
  • اٰخَرِيۡنَۙ — Aa-kha-re-na — Others (= n., pl. Another; another group not mentioned before;  others. Those coming later. A/t/a, ‘others,’ ‘another,’ ‘other’ and ‘others’)
  • لَمۡ — Laum — Not (= Absolutely never; no, not at all. A/t/a, ‘never so much as’ and ‘who have not’)
  • يَاۡتُو  — Yau-too — Come (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Arrive; reach. A/t/a, ‘come … unto,’  ‘have … come,’ ‘have … yet come’ and ‘pay … heed’)
  • كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. See كَ above.  A/t/a, ‘thee’)
  • يُحَرِّفُوۡنَ  — Yo-haur-ray-foo-na — They distort (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Misrepresent; twist. A/t/a, ‘pervert,’ ‘perverting,’ ‘changing,’ ‘alter,’ ‘change,’ ‘tear’ and ‘temper’)
  • الۡـكَلِمَ — (ayl)Ka-lay-ma — The word (= n., s, Sign. Affirmation; announcement; assignment; command; declaration; inspiration; message; phrase; prayer; promise; proof. pronouncement; revelation; speech; statement. What combines many words to
    form a message. A/t/a, ‘words,’ ‘the words of the Quran,’ ‘the words,’ ‘the words (of God)’ and ‘words  of the Scriptures’)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From (= See مِنَ above. Among, from or out of)
  • بَعۡدِ — Bau-day — After (= Subsequent to; succeeding generations. A/t/a, ‘after’)
  • مَوَاضِعِ — Ma-waa-aiy-zay —  Put in (= n., pl. Something inserted, instructed, located, placed, put, or referenced in its proper place, real reference, accurate context, right spot, true spot or exact position.   • ٱللَّهَ — Laa-ha — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • فِتۡنَـتَ — Fit-na-ta — Test (= n., . Assessment. Examination. Evaluation of man by setting up in front of him a hurdle, obstacle, ordeal or temptation as a test, trial or turmoil. Try. A/t/a, ‘Al-Fitnah (error, because of rejecting Faith).’ But verbs in statements like ‘to mislead,’ ‘to sin’ and ‘to inflict His punishment’ have not accurately translated what what the Hoy Qor-aan has stated because God is not there to mislead man to sin so that God may then punish him)
  • هٗ — Hoo — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid person)
  • فَ — Fa — Then (= After all this; consequently; thus. See فَ above)
  • لَنۡ — Laun — Not (= Absolute denial; no; not at all; total negation; by no means. A/t/a, ‘naught’)
  • تَمۡلِكَ — Taum-lay-ka — You control (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Master; own. A/t/a, ‘thou has …  authority,’ ‘thou controlest,’ ‘thou (by thine effort) will avail,’ ‘thou shalt not avail,’ ‘you cannot avail,’ ‘you can do nothing to save him from (the punishment of),’  ‘you can do’ and ‘you cannot help’)

Smallest part of an article, item, object, material, thing, matter, type, phenomenon, or stuff. To the least extent. Also, Some, something or somewhat. A/t/a, ‘to the least,’ ‘aught’ and ‘anything’)
  • اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ — O-laa-aiy-ka … (ul) — All of these (= Acts; facts, items, persons or things. A/t/a, ‘For such,’ ‘Those are they,’ ‘These are they,’ ‘It is these,’ ‘Those who’ and ‘Those are the ones’)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Aul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid people. A/t/a, ‘whose,’ ‘for whom’ and ‘they whose’)
  • لَمۡ  — Lum — Does not (= Absolutely never; no, not at all)
  • يُّرِدِ — Yo-ray-d … (il) — Destines (= v., pres., s., 3rd person.  See يُّرِدِ  above.  A/t/a, ‘it is … will,’ ‘intends,’ ‘the will … is,’ ‘has … desired,’ ‘has … been pleased,’ ‘does … wish,’ ‘does … please’ and ‘does … want’)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)

  • يُّطَهِّرَ — Yo-tauh-hay-ra — He cleanses (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Clean; make holy; purify. A/t/a, ‘to purify,’ ‘to purify (from disbelief and hypocrisy)’ and ‘He cleanses’)
  • قُلُوۡبَ — Qo-loo-ba — Hearts (= n., pl., Ability to think, choose, decide, and act in an  appropriate manner. Inner soul. Mind. See قُلُوۡبُ above)
