الَّذِيۡنَ كَذَّبُوۡا شُعَيۡبًا كَاَنۡ لَّمۡ يَغۡنَوۡا فِيۡهَا‌‌ ۛۚ اَ لَّذِيۡنَ كَذَّبُوۡا شُعَيۡبًا كَانُوۡا هُمُ الۡخٰسِرِيۡنَ‌‌‏

 

Aul-la-ze-na  kauz-za-boo  sho-aiy-baun  ka  aun  laum  yaugh-nao  fee  haa
Aul-la-ze-na  kauz-za-boo  sho-aiy-baun  kaa-noo  ho-mo  ol-khaa-say-ree-n

 

Those who belied Shoaib were like they never lived in it.
Those who belied Shoaib, they had been the losers.

 

  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Aul-la-ze-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to those articles, persons, or phenomenon or things in masculine gender. A/t/a, ‘Those who’)
  • كَذَّبُوۡا — Kauz-za-boo — They belied (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Belied; contradicted; denied; derided, denounced, disowned, disproved; falsified; opposed, misrepresented, negated; rejected. Accused  or charged with falsehood. Treated as liars. A/t/a, ‘rejected,’ ‘called a liar,’ ‘accused of lying,’ ‘charged .. with lying,’ ‘cried lies to,’ ‘denied,’ ‘spurned’ and ‘did not believe’)
  • شُعَيۡبًا — Sho-aiy-baun — Shoaib (= The name of a Messenger / Prophet of Allah. A/t/a,  ‘Shu’aib,’ Shu’eyb’ and ‘Shoaib’)
  • كَ — Ka — Like (= Identical; resembling; similar to the one stated in prior verse to. Take the example or similitude of)
  • اَنۡ — Aun — That (= So that. A/t/a, ‘as though’ and ‘as if’)
  • لَمۡ — Laum — Never (= Absolutely never; no, not at all. A/t/a, ‘never’ [mostly])
  • يَغۡنَوۡا — Yaugh-nao — Did live (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Exist independently. Live on one’s own. Not depending on anyone or thing. Subsist. This verb in the present tense is translated in the past tense due to prior  لَمۡ  (= laum). A/t/a, ‘became … they  had … been in the homes where they Had flourished,’ ‘were … they had,’ ‘became … they had … dwelt,’ ‘dwelt,’ ‘(lay prone) … they had … lived,’  ‘(became so extinct) … they had … dwelt’ and ‘might …   have lived)
  • فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Among. Inside a person or place. See Note 002:028)
  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person., Refers to aforesaid condition.  A/t/a, (this and the prior word) ‘therein’ and ‘there (in their homes)’
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Aul-la-ze-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. See ٱلَّذِينَ above. A/t/a, ‘Those alone who’)
  • كَذَّبُوۡا — Kauz-za-boo — They belied (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Belied. Charged with falsehood. Treated as liars. See كَذَّبُوۡا above. A/t/a, ‘rejected,’ ‘called a liar,’ ‘charged .. with lying,’ ‘accused … of lying,’ ‘had cried lies to’ and  ‘denied’)
  • شُعَيۡبًا — Sho-aiy-baun — Shoaib (= The name of a Messenger / Prophet. See  شُعَيۡبًا  above)
  • كَانُوۡۤا — Kaa-noo — Had been (= v., past., pl., m., 3rd person., Continued doing; used to; went on; were doing. Words has or had always been indicate endless continuity from the past to the present and leading into the future. A/t/a, ‘it was they … who were’ and ‘were’)
  • هُمُ — Ho-mo … (ol) — They (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Them. Those me)
  • الۡخٰسِرِيۡنَ‌‌ — Khaa-say-ree-n — The Losers (= n., pl., Duds. Failures. Has-beens. Real or total failures.  Those who lose or are lost. A/t/a, ‘the losers.’ But the verb as in ‘lost were those’ and ‘ruined’ has not translated the noun used in the Holy Qor-aan text)
