The Holy Qor-aan 062:007
قُلۡ يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ هَادُوۡۤا اِنۡ زَعَمۡتُمۡ اَنَّكُمۡ اَوۡلِيَآءُ لِلّٰهِ مِنۡ دُوۡنِ النَّاسِ فَتَمَنَّوُا الۡمَوۡتَ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ صٰدِقِيۡنَ
Qool-yaa-auy-yo-hul-la-zee-na-haa-do In-za-um-toom-un-na-koom-auo-lay-yaa-o-lil-laa-hay Min-do-nin-naa-say-fa-ta-mun-na-wool-mao-ta In-koon-toom-sua-day-qee-n
Listen you all who once were the guided ones If you claim that you are more friends of Allah Than from other people then wish for death If you have been really the tellers of Truth
- قُلۡ — Qool — Say (= v., pres., s, 2nd person. Demand; insist; persist. Also, admonish, announce, broadcast, call, convey, declare, direct; explain; inform, proclaim, profess, specify, state or tell. This Command is of universal application and means that anyone obeying the Almighty God must do as directed. A/t/a, ‘Say,’ ‘Say to them’ and ‘Say (O Muhammad s.a.w)’
- يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; hearken; pay attention; O!. A/t/a, ‘O ye’ and ‘O you’)
- اَيُّهَا — Auy-yo-ha(ul) — You all (= All addressees; entire audience; whole lot of listeners)
- ٱلَّذِينَ — Ul-la-zee-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Those articles, things or persons)
- هَادُوۡۤا — Haa-do — Rightly guided ones (= n., Those who were rightly guided at one time. A/t/a, ‘that stand on Judaism,’ ‘are Jews,’ ‘stand on Judaism!’ and ‘to the Jews’)
- اِنۡ — In — If (= In case; under the circumstances; when; when situation arises; whenever)
- زَعَمۡ — Za-um — Claim (= v., pres., s, 2nd person. Insist; persist. A/t/a, ‘think,’ ‘claim,’ ‘fancy,’ ‘your claim,’ ‘assert’ and ‘pretend’)
- تُمُ — Toom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all men. Generally this is the way the Holy Qor-aan addresses men and women)
- اَ نَّ — Un-na — Surely (= Absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really surely; truly; verily)
- كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You. See تُمُ above. A/t/a, ‘ye are’)
- اَوۡلِيَآءُ — Auo-lay-yaa-o — Friends (= n., pl., Intimate, protective, sincere, real or true friends. Aides; guardians; helpers; minions; patrons; protectors; supporters; well-wishers. Those who heed if a friend is in need. A/t/a, ‘favourites,’ ‘favoured’ and ‘friends’)
- لِلۡ — L…(il) — For / to (= Concerning, regarding; relative to; intended for; to)
- اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
- مِنۡ دُوۡنِ — Min-do-n(in) — From other than (= Combination of two words. The first word مِنۡ (min) means among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kinds, things or person. The second word دُوۡنِ (do-nay) means besides, beyond, except, excluding or save. Jointly the two words mean apart from, exclusive of, other than, instead of, in place of, in preference to, rather than, ‘to the exclusion of’ and ‘apart from’)
- النَّاسِ — Naa-say — The people (= Factions; folks, mankind, groups of men, nations or tribes. Human beings. A/t/a, (Other) men,’ ‘other people,’ ‘(all mankind,’ ‘all other people,’ ‘men’ and ‘(all) other mankind’)
- فَ — Fa — Then (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; resultantly; so; thereafter; therefore; thus)
- تَمَنَّوُا — Ta-mun-na-wo(ol) — You wish (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Ask; beg; choose, crave, covet,demand; desire; envy; feel; go for; invoke; long; pull; pursue; push; request; seek; select; want; wish. A/t/a, ‘express Your desire,’ ‘invoke,’ ‘long for,’ ‘agree to pray that … may overtake you,’ ‘if what you claim to be true , express your wish (in prayer contest’ and ‘you should wish for’)
- الۡمَوۡتَ — Mao-ta — Death (= n., After life has ended; downfall; end of life on earth; extinction; stupor. Total desolateness, demolition, destruction or ruin. A/t/a, ‘death (either invoking it on yourself if you are on falsehood or on me in case you think me an imposter’)
- اِنۡ — In — If (= In case; under the circumstances; when; when situation arises; whenever. A/t/a, ‘if indeed’)
- كُنۡتُمۡ — Koon-toom — You have been (= Since the past were and have been continuously. A/t/a, ‘ye are’ and ‘you are’)
- صٰدِقِيۡنَ — Sua-day-qee-na — Truthful (= n., pl., Tellers of Truth. Honest; trustworthy. A/t/a, ‘truthful,’ ‘if your claim is false’ and ‘be true’)
