The Holy Qor-aan 006:126
فَمَنۡ يُّرِدِ اللّٰهُ اَنۡ يَّهۡدِيَهٗ يَشۡرَحۡ صَدۡرَهٗ لِلۡاِسۡلَامِۚ وَمَنۡ يُّرِدۡ اَنۡ يُّضِلَّهٗ يَجۡعَلۡ صَدۡرَهٗ ضَيِّقًا حَرَجًا كَاَنَّمَا يَصَّعَّدُ فِى السَّمَآءِؕ كَذٰلِكَ يَجۡعَلُ اللّٰهُ الرِّجۡسَ عَلَى الَّذِيۡنَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ
Fa maun yo-ray-day il-laa-ho un yauh-day-ya hoo
Yaush-rah saud-ra hoo lay il-iss-laa-m
Wa maun yo-rid aun-yo-dzil-la hoo
Yauj-ul saud-ra hoo zuy-yay-qaun ha-ra-jaun Ka aun-na-maa yaus-sau-aa-do fee is-sa-maa-aiy
Ka zaa-lay-ka yauj-aa-lo ol-la-ho or-rij-sa
Aa-la ul-la-ze-na laa-yoe-may noo-n
Thus anyone for whom Allah decides, He guides him.
He broaden his mind for Islam.
And anyone that He decides to let him go astray,
He makes his mind tight, confused
Like he is dangling in space.
Like this Allah places impiety
Upon those who do not believe.

He adjudges, allows, chooses, concludes, decides, decrees, destines, determines, finalizes, intends, means, permits, plans, pleases, prefers or wills. . A/t/a, ‘intends,’ ‘wishes,’ ‘wills,’ ‘is …. Will,’ ‘pleases’ and ‘(in His Plan) Willeth’)
- اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
- اَنۡ — Aun — That (= So that)
- يَّهۡدِيَ — Yauh-day-ya — Guides (= v., pres., m., s., 3rd person. He directs the best way; gives good guidance; provides opportunities with the appropriate directions; leads on level linier lines; puts on proper path. Shows sure success. Also, avoids evil to enable man reach his noble aims, goals and objects. A/t/a, ‘to guide’)
- هٗ — Hoo — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid person)
- يَشۡرَحۡ — Yaush-rauh — Broadens (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Broadens outlooks. Expands understanding. Increases comprehension. Opens closed minds. Also, comforts, dilates, exposes, illuminates, lifts, unlocks or widens. A/t/a, ‘openeth,’ ‘opens,’ ‘expands’ and ‘expandeth’)
- صَدۡرَ — Saud-ra — Mind (= n., s., Bosom; breast; brain power; chest; heart; soul. Also, comprehension, ideas, outlook, thinking, thoughts or views A/t/a, ‘mind,’ ‘breast,’ ‘bosom’ and ‘chest’)
- هٗ — Hoo — His (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid person)
- لِلۡ — Lay … (il) — For / to (= Concerning; for; regarding; relative to; intended for; to; towards. A/t/a, ‘for the acceptance of,’ ‘to the acceptance of’ and ‘unto’)
- اِسۡلَامِ — Iss-laam — Iss-laam (= n., Faith; peaceful; state of total submission. A/t/a, ‘the ‘Surrender’)
- وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
- مَنۡ — Maun — Who (= Anyone; whoever; whom. See مَنۡ above)
- يُّرِدۡ — Yo-rid — He decides (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Here the word is used for God. See يُّرِدِ above. A/t/a, ‘wills,’ ‘willeth,’ ‘allows,’ ‘intends,’ ‘wishes,’ ‘pleases’ and ‘it is His will’)
- اَنۡ — Aun — That (= So that)
- يُّضِلَّ — Yo-dzil-la — He lets go stray (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Used with God Almighty this word means He lets man stray, go his own way, lead himself or turn in wrong direction. See Note 003:070. A/t/a, ‘to leave in error,’ ‘to let go astray,’ ‘to go astray,’ ‘he should go astray,’ ‘To leave straying’ and to leave astray.’ But ‘to send astray’ and ‘to mislead’ is against GOD’s nature of being Forgiving)

- يَجۡعَلُ — Yauj-ul — He places (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Appoints; brings out; causes; converts, creates; directs, grants, makes out, places, renders, sets up; turns up; wills. See Note 002:031. A/t/a, ‘He maketh,’ ‘He makes’ and ‘He causes’)
- صَدۡرَ — Saud-ra — Mind (= n., s., Bosom; breast; brain power; chest; heart; soul. Also, comprehension, ideas, outlook, thinking, thoughts or views. A/t/a, ‘breast,’ ‘bosom’ and chest’)
- هٗ — Hoo — His (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid person)
- ضَيِّقًا — Zuy-yay-qaun — Tight (= adj., Extremely narrow; slim; limited; thin; tight. In restrictive mode. A/t/a, ‘constricted,’ ‘close,’ ‘strait’ and ‘closed’)
- حَرَجًا — Ha-ra-jun — Confused (= adj. Being absent-minded, adrift, aimless, baffled, bewildered, closed minded, confused, constricted, disoriented, fuddled, flummoxed, gone out of mind, lost, misled, misplaced, oppressed, staggered, stunned, stupefied or uncertainty due to some objection. See below Note 006:126. A/t/a, ‘closed,’ ‘close,’ ‘narrow,’ ‘oppressed,’ ‘constricted’ and ‘small’)
- كَ — Ka — Like (= Identical; resembling; similar to the one stated earlier. Take the example or similitude of. A/t/a, ‘as if’ and ‘as though’)
- أَنَّمَآ — Aun-na-maa — Most certainly (= Combination of two words. The first word أَنَّٓ (aun-na) means absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; positively; really; seriously; surely; truly; verily. The second word مَاۤ (maa) means all that, what; whatever; whatsoever. Thus اَنَّمَا (aun-na-maa) lays great emphasis on the statement that follows it as absolutely, positively and most certainly accurate’)
- يَصَّعَّدُ — Yaus-sau-do — He is dangling (= v., pret., s., 3rd person. Floating; hanging; hovering; sagging; struggling; suspending. A/t/a, ‘he was mounting up,’ ‘he were mounting,’ ‘he is climbing,’ ‘he were climbing,’ ‘he were ascending’ and ‘he were engaged.’ But the plural as in ‘they had to climb’ is not a translation of the Holy Qo-aan text in the singular)
- فِى — Fee … (is) — In (= In a duration, event, time, place, period or thing. See Note 002:028. A/t/a, ‘in.’ ‘into,’ ‘up into,’ ‘up’ and ‘up to’)
- السَّمَآءِ — Sa-maa-aiy — Space (= n., s., Sky. All above ground, on earth or in space. Firmament, heaven, space or world. Universe. A/t/a, ‘skies,’ ‘upwards,’ ‘sheer ascent’ and ‘the heights’)
- كَذٰلِكِ — Ka-zaa-lay-ka — Like this (= Combines two words. كَ means ‘example, like, identical resembling, similar. ذٰلِكَ means ‘all this right in here and refers to an aforesaid event, fact, person or statement. The combination means ‘even so,’ ‘so it will be,’ ‘such is the way,’ ‘the same way,’ ‘that is how’ or ‘this way’. A/t/a, ‘thus’ and ‘just’)

- ٱلَّذِينَ — Aul-la-ze-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to those articles, persons, or phenomenon or things in masculine gender. A/t/a, ‘those who’)
- لَا — Laa — Do not (= Naught; neither; never; none; nor; not at all; absolute denial and total negation without exception)
- يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ — Yoe-ma-noo-n — Believe (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Accept, admit or believe in Iss-laam. Have faith or recognize truthfulness of the Holy Qor-aan and become Moslem. ** Note 006:126. This verse describes the wavering state of mind of those whom GOD has abandoned due to their own doings. The meanings of the word حَرَجًا are in Notee 004:066 However, following is the choice of words that various authors have used in translating first first the verse 004:066, then 006:12 and then 007:003.
Dr Ahmad Zaidan chose the words ‘without feeling the least resentment’ for verse 004:066, then ‘constricted’ for verse 006:126 and then ‘straitening’ for verse 007:003.
