فَوَسۡوَسَ لَهُمَا الشَّيۡطٰنُ لِيُبۡدِىَ لَهُمَا مَا وٗرِىَ عَنۡهُمَا مِنۡ سَوۡاٰتِهِمَا وَقَالَ مَا نَهٰٮكُمَا رَبُّكُمَا عَنۡ هٰذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡ تَكُوۡنَا مَلَـكَيۡنِ اَوۡ تَكُوۡنَا مِنَ الۡخٰلِدِيۡنَ‏

 

Fa  waus-wa-sa  la  ho-maa  ush-shai-taa-no                                                                                Lay  yoob-day-ya  la  ho-maa  maa  wo-ray-ya                                                                              Un  ho-maa  min  sao-aa-tay  hay-maa                                                                                        Wa  qaa-la  maa  na-haa  ko-maa                                                                                               Rub-bo  ko-maa  un  haa-zay-hish  sha-ja-ra-ta                                                                              Il-laa  un  ta-koo-naa  ma-la-kai-nay                                                                                            Auo  ta-koo-naa  may-na  ul-khaa-lay-dee-n

 

Then the Satan whispered to them both                                                                            For exposing them both to what was hidden                                                                    From them both out of the weakness of them both                                                        And he said, “You both are not prohibited                                                                          By God of both of you from this tree                                                                                  Except you both become monarchs                                                                                        Or you both become everlasting individuals.”

  • وَسۡوَسَ — Waus-wa-sa — Whispered (= v., past., 3rd person. Conjured; gossiped; incited; insinuated; secretly and sneakily told; suggested; whispered.   • لَ — La — For (= Because of; concerning; due to; for the object, purpose or reason of; intended for; on account of; regarding; relative to; towards A/t/a, ‘to’)
  • هُمَا — Ho-maa — Them both (= pro., 2pl., m., 3rd person. Ref to aforesaid two persons. A/t/a, ‘to them both’)
  • الشَّيۡطٰنُ — Shai-taa- no — The Satan (= n., s., A bad, evil or false deity, friend, leader or Satanic companion. The devil. The Evil Embodiment. The evil One. The evil spirited person. The evil personified. Polytheist. Rebellious ringleader. Also, a hypocrite; an idol-worshipper, the insanity or satanic imbalance. A/t/a, ‘The Shaitan (Satan)’ and ‘the devil’)
  • لِ — Lay — For (= For the object, person, purpose or reason of; intended for; meant for; on account of; concerning; regarding; relative to. A/t/a, ‘that,’ ‘so that,’ ‘with the result that’ and ‘in order to’)
  • يُبۡدِىَ — Yoob-day-ya — Expose (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Manifest. Reveal. Show. A/t/a, ‘he might make known,’ manifest,’ he might lead,’ ‘bringing openly before their minds’ and ‘uncover’)
  • لَ — La — For (= Because of; concerning; due to. See  لَ  above. A/t/a, ’unto’ and ‘to’)
  • هُمَا — Ho-maa — Them both (= pro., 2pl., m., 3rd person. Ref to aforesaid two persons)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — What (= All that; whatever; whatsoever; at such time; when. A/t/a, ’which’  and ‘that which’)
  • وٗرِىَ –Wo-ray-ya — Was hidden (= v., past., pass., s., 3rd person. Buried. Clandestine. Concealed. Covered. Kept secret. Secreted. Unknown.  Veiled. A/t/a. ‘was hidden,’ ‘were hidden,’ ‘has been hidden,’ ‘had been hidden,’ ‘what was hidden … before,’ ‘was hidden (before)’ and ‘they had never seen before’)
  • عَنۡ — Un — From (= About; concerning; regarding; relative to)
  • هُمَا — Ho-maa — Them both (= pro., 2pl., m., 3rd person. Ref to aforesaid two person. A/t/a, ‘them’ and ‘each other’)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon. A/t/a, ‘of’)
  • سَوۡاٰتِ  — Sao-aa-tay — Evils (= n., pl. Debilities. Evils. Feebleness. Frailties. Infirmities. Limitations. Shortcomings. Weaknesses. A/t/a, ’shame,’ ‘shortcomings,’ ‘nakedness,’  ‘shameful parts’ and ‘private parts’)
  • هِمَا — Hay-maa — Their both (= pro., 2pl., m., 3rd person. Ref to aforesaid two persons)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • قَالَ — Qaa-la — He said (= v., past, s., 3rd person. Announced; broadcast; called; conveyed; declared; informed; told)
  • مَاۤ —  Maa — Not (= Never; no; none; not at all. A/t/a, ‘only’)
  • نَهَى — Na-ha — Prohibited (= Checked; curbed; forbade; limited; prohibited; restrained; restricted; stopped. A/t/a, ‘forbidden’ and ‘did … forbid’)                                     
  • كُمَا — Ko-maa — You both (= pro., 2pl., 2nd person. You two men, women or bunch of groups of people)
  • رَبُّ — Rub-bo — God / Lord  (= The Almighty Allah who fills all needs of all His creatures; Creator; Master; One Who Sustain; The Lord provident; The Ultimate Provider of Air, water, food and whatever we need to live and subsist. See 001:002)
  • كُمَا — Ko-maa — You both (= pro., 2pl., 2nd person. You. See  كُمَا  above)
  • عَنۡ — Un — From (= About; concerning; regarding; relative to)
  • هٰذِهِ — Ha-zat-h … (sh) — This (= This particularly pointed out; present right here; what is in front of you)
  • الشَّجَرَةَ — Sha-ja-ra-ta — Tree (= n., Vegetation with roots below and trunk above ground  Growth. A particular group of folks, nation, people, tribe or situation. The tree of evil in the Adam and Eve story)
  • اِلَّاۤ — Il-laa — Nothing but (= Except; saving. A/t/a. ‘lest,’ ‘only lest’ and ‘save’)
  • اَنۡ — Un — Surely (= Absolutely; certainly; definitely; positively; verily)
  • تَكُوۡنَا — Ta-koo-naa — You both be (= v., pres., 2pl., 2nd person. You two would have;    you will turn into; it happens or occurs to you both. A/t/a, ‘you become,’ ‘you should become,’ ’ye should become’ and ‘from becoming’)
  • مَلَـكَيۡنِ — Ma-la-kai-nay — Two monarchs (= n., 2pl., 1. Autocrats. Caliphs. Chiefs. Kings. Masters. Monarchs. Rulers. 2. Kind and loving people. 3. The  immortal beings who execute the commands of God Almighty and never do a wrong. Angels. A/t/a, ‘monarchs’ and ’angels’)
  • اَوۡ — Auo — Or (= Alternatively; in substitution)
  • تَكُوۡنَا — Ta-koo-naa — You both be (= v., pres., 2pl., 2nd person.  See تَكُوۡنَا  above)
  • مِنَ — May-na … (ul) — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of  several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon. A/t/a, ‘of’)
  • الۡخٰلِدِيۡنَ — Khaa-lay-dee-n  Everlasting   (= n., Those abiding, living, staying or residing for a long but unspecified period. Some interpreters have labeled that period to be ‘forever.’ A/t/a, ‘everlasting and immortal,’ ‘such beings as live for ever,’ ‘live forever’ and ’immortals’)
