The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                    007:031

 

فَرِيۡقًا هَدٰى وَ فَرِيۡقًا حَقَّ عَلَيۡهِمُ الضَّلٰلَةُ ‌ ؕ اِنَّهُمُ اتَّخَذُوا الشَّيٰطِيۡنَ اَوۡلِيَآءَ مِنۡ دُوۡنِ اللّٰهِ وَيَحۡسَبُوۡنَ اَنَّهُمۡ مُّهۡتَدُوۡنَ‏

 

Fa-re-qaun  ha-daa  wa  fa-re-qaun                                                                                                Hauq-qa  alai  hay-mo  odza-laa-la-to                                                                                            In-na  ho-mo  ot-ta-kha-zo  osh-sha-yaa-te-na                                                                                Auo-lay-yaa-aa  min  do-nay  il-laa-hay                                                                                    Wa  yauh-sa-boo-na  un-na  hoom  moh-ta-doo-n

 

One group He guided.                                                                                                        Another group justified errors in them.                                                                        Surely they took the evil ones                                                                                                As friends other than Allah                                                                                                  And they think that they surely are guided.

                                                           

  • فَرِيۡقًا — Fa-ree-qaun — One group (= n., s., Bunch, division, faction, fraction, group or a little number of a larger association, band, class, clique, company or gathering; lot, part; party; portion; section; segment, selection, share of a whole lot of people. A/t/a, ‘Some,’ ‘A portion,’ ‘There is a party’, ‘a part,’ ‘A party,’ ‘Some’ and ‘a group’)
  • هَدٰى — Ha-daa — He guided (= v., past., m., s. 3rd person. Coddled on correct course; directed accurately towards the best way; gave the best direction; guided to and led on the linier lines; put on the proper path; showed the right road – He guided. A/t/a, ‘has He guided,’ ‘He has guided aright,’ ‘He guided,’ ‘hath He led aright,’ ‘He hath guided’ e hath guided’ and ‘He has guided’)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., It links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • فَرِيۡقًا — Fa-ree-qaun — Another group (= n., s., Bunch of people. See  فَرِيۡقًا  above. A/t/a, ‘others,’ ‘another party,’ ‘(another) party’ and ‘some’)
  • حَقَّ — Hauq-qa — Justified(= v., past., s., 3rd person. Concluded, decided, established and found true, right, fair, equitable and justifiable. A/t/a, ‘is justly their due,’ ‘have (by their choice) deserved,’ ‘has become their desert,’ have earned … as their dessert,’ ‘has become an established fact,’ ‘just hold over,’ ‘earned,’ ‘justly’ and ‘deserved to be’)
  • عَلَيۡ– Alai — On (= Above; against; before; during; for; on; on top of; over. A/t/a, ‘with’)
  • هِمُ — Hay-mo … (odz) — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs. A/t/a, ‘for themselves’)
  • الضَّلٰلَةُ  Dza-la-ta — The error (= n., Blunder; boo-boo; fault; inaccuracy; mistake; miscalculation; misguidance. A/t/a,  ‘perdition,’ ‘straying’ and ‘the loss of their way.’ But the verb as in ‘led astray’ has not translated the text in the Holy Qor-aan)
  • اِنَّ — In-na — Certainly (= Absolutely; clearly, decidedly; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really; surely; truly; verily. A/t/a, ‘in that,’ ‘Lo’ and ‘(because) surely’ )
  • هُمُ — Ho-mo … (ot) — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs)
  • اتَّخَذُوا — Ta-kha-zoo –They took (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Adopted. Caught. Owned.  A/t/a, ‘took,’ ‘have taken’ and ‘they had chosen’)
  • الشَّيٰطِيۡنَ — Sha-yaa-tee-na — Evil ones (= n., pl., Plural of Satan. Bad or false deities, friends and people. Evil spirited companions, hypocrites, idolators, polytheists, rebels, ringleaders and wicked. A/t/a, ‘devils,’ ‘Satans’ and ‘Shayatin (devils)’
  • اَوۡلِيَآءَ — Auo-lay-yaa-aa — Friends (= n., pl., Intimate, protective, sincere, real or true friends. Aides; guardians; helpers; minions; patrons; protectors, supporters; well-wishers. Those who heed if a friend is in need. A/t/a, ‘guardians,’ ‘allies’ and ‘as Aulyia (protectors and helpers’)
  • مِنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several articles, counts, kind, things, persons or phenomenon)
  • دُوۡنِ — Doo-nay … (il) — Other than (= Apart from; besides; except; excluding; exclusive of; in preference to; over and beyond; save; to the exclusion of the rest of. A/t/a, ‘in preference,’ ‘instead of,’ ‘leaving aside’ and ‘to the exclusion’)
  • اللّٰهِ‌ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases. See  وَ  above)
  • يَحۡسَبُوۡنَ  — Yauh-sa-boo-na — They think (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Construe. Imagine. A/t/a, ‘they imagine,’ ‘deem,’ ‘think’ and ‘thinking.’ But the past tense as in ‘deemed’ has not translated the present tense used in the Holy Qor-aan)
  • اَ نَّ — Un-na — That surely (= Absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively; really surely; truly; verily. At/a, ‘that’)
  • هُمۡ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Those men; they; theirs. A/t/a, ‘themselves’)
  • مُهۡتَدُوۡنَ — Moh-ta-doon — Those guided (= n., pl., Those who have been … directed or guided to or shown the good, proper or right course, line, path, road or way, led on proper lines, put on proper path, set on correct course. The rightly guided. The guided ones. A/t/a, ‘are rightly guided,’ ‘they receive guidance,’ ‘on the right path’ and ‘are guided’)
