The Holy Qor-aan                                       084:007

○ يٰۤاَيُّهَا الۡاِنۡسَانُ اِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ اِلٰى رَبِّكَ كَدۡحًا فَمُلٰقِيۡه ۚ

              Yaa-auy-yo-hul-in-saa-no-in-na-ka-kaa-day-hoon-elaa-rub-bay-ka-kud-hun–fa-mo-laa-qee-hay

              Listen, you Man, if you really work hard to reach you God, then you will meet Him.

• يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; pay attention; O!)
• اَيُّهَا — Auy-yo-h…(ul) — You (= All, entire or whole of the addressees or audience)
• الۡاِنۡسَانُ — In-saa-no — Man (= The human being; mankind; the species known as man including his feminine gender woman)
• اِنَّ — In-na — Really (= Absolutely; certainly; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly positively; seriously; surely; truly; verily. Indeed)
• كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. The addressee of this divine message is initially the Holy Prophet s.a.w and secondarily every Moslem, in fact every human being. See the Note under 002:005)
• كَادِحٌ — Kaa-day-hoon — Work hard * (= Strive hard. One who fully, really and truly applies pressure, exerts, belabors himself, makes an all-in effort and toils hard. A/t/a Returning with your own load of good and bad acts)
• اِلٰٓى — E-laa — To (= In the direction of or towards reaching your God)
• رَبِّ –Rub-bay — God (= The Almighty Allah who fills needs of all creatures;
  Cherisher; Creator; Guardian; Master; Lord Provident. The Only One Who provides all that sustains life. The Ultimate Provider of air, water, food and whatever we and all other creatures need to live and subsist)
• كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. See كَ above)
• كَدۡحًا — Kud-hun — Hard work * (= Applying pressure. Constant, consistent and painful exertion, labor and toiling. 2. A sure return )
• فَ — Fa — Then (= Consequently; as a result; so; then; thus; therefore; yet)
• مُلٰقِيۡ — Mo-laa-qee — Meet (= End up in His presence. Join Him. Face Him. See Him)
• هِ — Hay — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the Almighty God)

* Note 084:007.  The literal translation of كَادِحٌ is working hard hard-work. The intent of the original text is best conveyed by translating it as fully, really or whole-heartedly working hard.

The Holy Qor-aan                                        084:008                                  ○ فَاَمَّا مَنۡ اُوۡتِىَ كِتٰبَهٗ بِيَمِيۡنِهٖ ۙ‏

                 Fa-um-maa-mun-oo-tay-ya-ke-taa-ba-hoo-bay-ya-me-nay-he

                So as for him who is given his book in his right hand

• فَ — Fa — So (= Consequently; as a result; so; then; thus; therefore; yet)
• اَمَّا — Um-maa — As far (= Combination of two words. The first word اَن means ‘that.’ The second word مَا means ‘all that or whatever.’ Joined together they mean ‘whatever’, ‘as regards’)
• مَنۡ — Mun — Him (= Anyone; who; whoever; whom; whomever; whoso)
• اُوۡتِىَ — Oo-tay-ya — Given (= Awarded; bestowed; conferred; gifted; granted; handed)
• كِتٰبَ — Ke-taa-ba — Book (= Account statement. Authentic written chronicle of what man did in his life. Penned down version in black and white of his whole life story. Record that collected all his omissions and commissions of his life time)
• هٗ — Hoo — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the man given his book)
• بِ — Bay — With (= The Arabic word بِ literally means ‘with’ in English)
• يَمِيۡنِ — Ya-me-nay — Right hand (= Concept is what his dominant hand is)
• هٖ — He — His (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the man given his book)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         084:009                           ○  فَسَوۡفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَّسِيۡرًا ۙ‏

                Fa-sao-fa-yo-haa-sa-bo-hay-saa-bun-ya-se-raa

                Then he will soon receive an easy reckoning

• فَ — Fa — Then  (= Consequently; as a result; so; then; thus; therefore; yet)
• سَوۡفَ — Sao-fa — Soon (= 1. In near term; in the near future; in a short while; 2. Briskly; Quickly. Swiftly)
• يُحَاسَبُ — Yo-haa-sa-bo — Receive (= Called upon or required to account for his deeds. Give account of. Will be dealt with, get, receive or be taken)
• حِسَابًا — Hay-saa-bun — Reckoning (= Accounting; adjusting credit and debits; balancing; calling to count; finalizing the gives and takes; settling account. Settlement)
• يَّسِيۡرًا — Ya-se-raa — Easy (= Lenient; soft)

The Holy Qor-aan                                        084:010                                  ○ وَّيَنۡقَلِبُ اِلٰٓى اَهۡلِهٖ مَسۡرُوۡرًا ؕ‏

                 Wa-yun-qa-la-bo-elaa-ah-lay-he-mus-roo-raa

                And he will return to his family happy

• وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
• يَنۡقَلِبُ — Yun-qa-la-bo — Return (= Come back; go back; retreat)
• اِلٰٓى — E-laa — To (= In the direction of; towards)
• اَهۡلِ — Ah-lay — Family (= Companions; folks; household; kith and kin; people)
• هٖ — He — His (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the man given his book)
• مَسۡرُوۡرًا — Mus-roo-raa — Happy (= Ecstatic. In joy. Joyful. Rejoicing)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         084:011                         ○   وَاَمَّا مَنۡ اُوۡتِىَ كِتٰبَهٗ وَرَآءَ ظَهۡرِهٖ ۙ‏

                 Wa-um-maa-mun-oo-tay-ya-ke-taa-ba-hoo-wa-raa-aa-zuh-ray-he

                And as far him who is given his record from behind his back

• وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
• اَمَّا — Um-maa — As far (= Combination of two words. The first word اَن means ‘that.’ The second word مَا means ‘all that or whatever.’ Joined together they mean ‘whatever’, ‘as regards’)
• مَنۡ — Mun — Who (= Anyone; who; whoever; whom; whomever; whoso)

• ظَهۡر — Zuh-ray-he — Back (= Behind. Part of the human body below the back of neck; back of human torso He threw God’s commands behind his back in his life)
• هٖ — He — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the man given his book)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         084:012                                       ○ فَسَوۡفَ يَدۡعُوۡا ثُبُوۡرًا ۙ‏

                 Fa-sao-fa-yud-oo-tha-boo-raa

                Then he will soon cry for his own destruction

• فَ — Fa — Then (= Consequently; as a result; so; then; thus; therefore; yet)
• سَوۡفَ — Sao-fa — Soon (= 1. In near term; in the near future; in a short while; 2. Briskly. Quickly. Right away; Swiftly)
• يَدۡعُوۡا — Yud-oo — He will cry for (= Beseech; call for; invoke; pray; seek; want; wish)
• ثُبُوۡرًا — Tho-boo-raa — Destruction (= Perdition. Pray for an end to his agony. Ruin. Wish he was dead or not even born)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         084:013                                             ○  وَّيَصۡلٰى سَعِيۡرًا ؕ‏

                 Wa-yus-lee-sa-ee-ra

                And he will enter in flaming fire

• وَّ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
• يَصۡلَى — Yus-lee — He will enter (= Be plunged in. Burn. Endure. Roast. Suffer pains of the chastisement)
• سَعِيۡرًا — Sa-ee-raa — Flaming fire (= Blazing fire; really burning fire)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         084:014                                   اِنَّهٗ كَانَ فِىۡۤ اَهۡلِهٖ مَسۡرُوۡرًا ؕ○‏

                In-na-hoo-kaa-na-fee-ah-lay-he-mus-roo-raa

                Surely he used to be happy in his family

• اِنَّ — In-na — Surely (= Absolutely; certainly definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; positively; really; seriously; truly; verily)
• هٗ — Hoo — He (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to man given his book)
• كَانَ — Kaa-na — Used to be (= v., Conveys continuation; ‘That one in the 3rd persons ‘had been, ‘continued doing’ or ‘went on doing’)
• فِىۡ — Fee — In (= 1. Among. In. Contained inside or amidst a duration, , event, time, place, period, thing or situation. 2. Relative to; concerning; for the sake of; pursuant to; regarding)
• اَهۡلِ — Ah-lay — Family (= Folk; kith and kin; people in the household)
• هٖ — He — His (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to man given his book)
• مَسۡرُوۡرًا — Mus-roo-raa — Happy (= Ecstatic. In joy. Joyful. Rejoicing)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         084:015                                      ○  اِنَّهٗ ظَنَّ اَنۡ لَّنۡ يَّحُوۡرَ ۛۚ‏

                In-na-hoo-zun-na-un-lunn-ya-hoo-ra

               Surely he believed that things would never change

• اِنَّ — In-na — Surely (= Absolutely; certainly definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; positively; really; seriously; truly; verily)
• هٗ — Hoo — He (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to man given his book)
• ظَنَّ — Zun-na — Believed (= Deemed. Fancied. Guessed. Thought)
• اَنۡ — Un — That (= Since; so that; for the purpose)
• لَّنۡ — Lunn — Never (= No; not all. Absolutely not)
• يَّحُوۡرَ — Ya-hoo-ra — Change (= 1. Change in his happily living with his family. 2. Change to come back, return or revert to God. 3. Change in his returning to account for his deeds)

The Holy Qor-aan                                         084:016                             ○ بَلٰٓى ۛۚ اِنَّ رَبَّهٗ كَانَ بِهٖ بَصِيۡرًا ؕ‏

                  Ba-laa-in-na-rub-ba-hoo-kaa-na-bay-he-ba-see-raa

                 Indeed.  Really his God has always watched over him.

• بَلٰى — Ba-laa — Indeed (= But; aye; nay; however; instead; of course; nevertheless; on the contrary; rather; really; the fact is; the fact nevertheless is; the truth is; truthfully; verily; yea but; yes)
• اِنَّ — In-na — Really (= Absolutely; certainly; doubtlessly; earnestly; indeed; in all seriousness; positively; really; surely; truly; verily)
• رَبَّ — Rub-ba — God (= The Almighty Allah who fills needs of all creatures;
  Cherisher; Creator; Guardian; Master; Lord Provident.  The Only One Who provides all that sustains life. The Ultimate Provider of air, water, food and whatever we and all other creatures need to live and subsist)
• هٗ — Hoo — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to man given his book)

• هٖ — He — His (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to man given his book)
• بَصِيۡرًا — Ba-see-raa — Watch (= Beholding. Always looking after him, or on a look out for him. Mindful. Observer. One taking cognizance very well. Onlooker. Overseer. Seer. Top-seer. Watch. Indeed his God had continually observed, seen and watched him)
