The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                                     007:147

 

سَاَصۡرِفُ عَنۡ اٰيٰتِىَ الَّذِيۡنَ يَتَكَبَّرُوۡنَ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ بِغَيۡرِ الۡحَـقِّ ؕ وَاِنۡ يَّرَوۡا كُلَّ اٰيَةٍ لَّا يُؤۡمِنُوۡا بِهَا‌ ۚ وَاِنۡ يَّرَوۡا سَبِيۡلَ الرُّشۡدِ لَا يَتَّخِذُوۡهُ سَبِيۡلًا‌ ۚ وَّاِنۡ يَّرَوۡا سَبِيۡلَ الۡغَىِّ يَتَّخِذُوۡهُ سَبِيۡلًا‌ ؕ ذٰ لِكَ بِاَنَّهُمۡ كَذَّبُوۡا بِاٰيٰتِنَا وَكَانُوۡا عَنۡهَا غٰفِلِيۡنَ‏

 

Sa  aus-ray-fo  aun  aa-yaa-t  ee  aul-la-ze-na
Ya-ta-kaub-ba-roo-na  fee  l-aur-dzay  bay-ghai-ray  il-hauq-qay

Wa  in  ya-rao  kool-la  aa-ya-tin  laa  yoe-may-noo  by  haa
Wa  in  ya-rao  sa-bee-la  ur-roosh-day  laa  yaut-ta-kho-zo  ho  sa-bee-la
Wa  in  ya-rao  sa-bee-la  ul-ghuy-yay  yaut-ta-kho-zo  ho  sa-bee-la

 Zaa-lay-ka  bay  aun-na  hoom  kauz-za-boo  bay  aa-yaa-tay  naa
Wa  kaa-noo  aun  haa  ghaa-fay-lee-n

 

Soon I turn away from my Signs those who
Boast on earth without any justification.

And if they see every Sign they won’t believe in it.
And if they see the right road they won’t follow it as the right way.
And if they see the wrong road they will adopt it as the right way.

This was because they belied Our Signs
And have been unmindful regarding that.

  • عَنۡ — Aun — From (= About; concerning; regarding; relative to)
  • اٰيٰتِ — Aa-yaa-tay — Signs (= n., pl of … An argument, command, code, corroboration,   direction, evidence, indication, instruction, law, lesson, message, narrative, order, pointer, portent, proof, sign, suggestion, symbol or token. A/t/a, ‘signs,’ ‘messages,’ ‘revelations’ and ‘Ayah (verses of the Qur’an)’
  • ىۡ — Ee — My (= pro., s., 1st person., Refers to the Almighty God)
  • ٱلَّذِينَ — Aul-la-ze-na — Those who (= pl., m, 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid articles, persons, phenomenon or things)
  • يَتَكَبَّرُوۡنَ — Ya-ta-kaub-ba-roo-na — Boast (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Act big. Behave arrogantly. Boast as big-headed. Consider, show or take  pride. Too big for their boots. A/t/a, ‘behave arrogantly,’ ‘behave proudly,’ ‘behave haughtily’ and ‘magnify themselves.’ But the nouns ‘proud’ and ‘the arrogant’ are no translations of the verbs in the Holy Qor-aan text)’
  • فِىۡ — Fee … (l) — On (= Inside. Within. See Note 002:028. A/t/a, ‘on’ and ‘in’)
  • الۡاَرۡضِ — Al-aur-dzay — The earth (= n., Area; country; earth; ground; land; soil; territory. Also, life on earth, nation; people or society in general. See Note 002:028a. A/t/a, ‘the land’)
  • بِغَيۡرِ — Bay-ghai-ray … (il) — Without (= Separately the word  بِ  means with and  غَيۡرِ means other or else. The combination means without, limit, measure or stint. A/t/a, ‘in defiance of’)
  • الۡحَـقِّ — Il-hauq-qay — The justification (= n., Just cause. Justification. Right. Truth. A/t/a, ‘right,’ ‘justification’ and ‘wrongfully.’ [Jointly the prior and this word =]  ‘unjustly,’ ‘in an unjust manner’ and ‘the unjust’)
  • وَ  — Wa — And (= Conj., Links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but  also; moreover; though; when; while; whereupon; yet)
  • اِنۡ — In … (ya) — If (= In case; under the circumstances; when; whenever. A/t/a, ‘even if’)
  • يَّرَوۡا — Ya-rao — They see (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Find. Gaze. Observe. Notice.  Watch. Witness)
  • كُلَّ — Kool-la — Every (= All; all sorts; altogether; everyone; every manner, time or place. A/t/a, ‘all,’  ‘every,’ ‘every kind of,’ ‘every (possible),’  ‘each’ and ‘each and every’)
  • اٰيَةٍ — Aa-ya-tin — Sign (= n., pl. Directions. See  اٰيٰتِ  above. A/t/a, ‘Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.’)
  • لَا — Laa — No (= Naught; neither; never; none; nor; not at all; absolute denial and total negation. See See 002:003)
  • يُؤۡمِنُوۡا  — Yoe-may-noo — They believe (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Believe in the Holy Qor-aan, enter Iss-laam and become Moslem. Have faith. A/t/a,  ‘they will … believe,’ ‘believe it not’ and ‘they shall deny’)
  • بِهَا — Bay-haa — With it (= Combination of two words. The 1st word isn بِ  (bay) means with. The 2nd word  هَا  (haa) is a pronoun for a single female in 3rd person that refers to the aforesaid group, person, thing or event as it. A/t/a, therein,’ ‘in it,’ ‘in them’ and ‘them’)
  • وَ — Wa  — And (= Conj., Links words, phrases. See  وَ  above)
  • اِنۡ — In … (ya) — If (= In case. See  اِنۡ  above. A/t/a, ‘Even if’ and ‘although’)

  • لَا — Laa — Not (= Naught; neither; never; none. See لَا  above)
  • يَتَّخِذُوۡ — Yaut-ta-khay-zoo — They follow (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Adopt. Catch. Follow. Hold. Pursue. Take. A/t/a, ‘they will … adopt,’ ‘they take,’ ‘they will … follow,’ ‘they will …  adopt,’ ‘they will … take,’ ‘choose it not’ and ‘they shall not’)
  • هُ — Ho — It (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the righteousness)
  • سَبِيۡلًا‌ — Sa-be-laun … (wa) — As the way (= n., Cause. Life-style. Line. Path. Road, Way. See  سَبِيۡلَ  above. A/t/a, ‘as the way,’ ‘for a way,’ ‘as their way,’ ‘as (their) way’ and ‘for (their) way’)

  • يَتَّخِذُوۡ — Yaut-ta-khay-zoo — They adopt (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Adopt. Catch. Take. See  يَتَّخِذُوۡ  above. A/t/a, ‘they will adopt,’ they take,’ ‘they will follow it,’ ‘they will take,’ ‘choose’ and ‘they shall choose’)

  • سَبِيۡلًا‌ — Sa-be-laun … (wa) — As the way (= adj., Cause. Life-style. See  سَبِيۡلًا‌  above. A/t/a, ‘way,’ ‘as their way,’ ‘as (their) way,’ ‘for (their) way,’ ‘for their path,’ ‘for a way’ and ‘The Way’)
  • ذٰلِكَ — Zaa-lay-ka — This is (= Here; refers to an aforesaid fact, person or statement; it’s because; right here; such is this; that is how it is.  A/t/a, This is,’ ‘That is’ and ‘This (state of theirs)’
  • بِ — Bay — With (= The best translation of the word  بِ  is with)
  • اَ نَّ — Aun-na — Surely (= Absolutely; definitely; doubtlessly; indeed; positively;                 really surely; truly; verily. See Note 002:128. A/t/a, ‘for’ and [for this and prior word]  ‘because’)
  • هُمۡ — Hoom — They (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. They, them)
  • كَذَّبُوۡا — Kauz-za-boo — Belied (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Accused, charged or treated as liars. Belied; contradicted; denied; derided, denounced, disowned, disproved; falsified; opposed, mistreated, misrepresented, negated; rejected. See 002:040. A/t/a, ‘they have rejected,’ ‘they treated … as lies,’ ‘they rejected … as false,’ ‘they cried lies,’ ‘they disbelieved’ and ‘they rejected.’ But the present tense in ‘they reject’ and ‘they deny’ is no translation of the past tense in the Holy Qor-aan text)

  • كَانُوۡۤا — Kaa-noo — Had been (= v., past., pl., 3rd person., Continued doing; used to; went on; were doing. Words has or had always been indicate endless continuity from the past to the present and leading into the future. A/t/a, ‘were,’ ‘are,’ ‘are used to’ and ‘gave’)
  • عَنۡ — Aun — Regarding (= About; concerning; regarding; relative to. A/t/a, ‘of,’ ‘from’ and ‘to’)
  • هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid group of signs. A/t/a, ‘them’)
  • غٰفِلِيۡنَ — Gha-fay-lee-n — Unmindful (= n., pl., Careless. Forgetful. Heedless. Ignorant. Ill-equipped. Naïve. Oblivious. Reckless. Unacquainted. Unaware. Unmindful. Uninformed. Unknowing. Unqualified. Unsuspecting. Untrained. Unwary. A/t/a, ‘heedless,’ ‘heedless (to learn a lesson)’ and ‘no heed to them.’ But the verbs in ‘have failed to take warning’ and ‘to disregard’ have not translated the Holy Qor-aan text with a noun)
