The Holy Qor-aan                                                                                                        006:073

 

وَاَنۡ اَقِيۡمُوا الصَّلٰوةَ وَ اتَّقُوۡهُ‌ ؕ  وَهُوَ الَّذِىۡۤ اِلَيۡهِ تُحۡشَرُوۡنَ‏  

 

Wa-un-aa-qee-moos-sua-laa-ta-wut-ta-qoo-ho                                                                              Wa-ho-wul-la-zee-eai-hay-toh-sha-roo-n

 

And you establish the prayer and do duty to Him                                                            And He is the One to Him you will be brought together

  • الصَّلٰوةَ — Sua-laa-ta — The prayer (= The Commandment for the Moslems to pray five times daily. Abjectly and earnestly beseeching, requesting or supplicating in worshiping. Praying with full attention and focused mind. See our Commentary ISLAM – 104 … 5 Acts of worships or pillars of Islam. A/t/a, ‘regular prayers,’ ‘worship,’ ‘Prayer’ and ‘As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat))’)
  • وَ — Wa…(ut) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • اتَّقُو — Tuq-qoo — Do duty to (= v., pres., m., 2nd person, Be clean, righteous and do duty  owed to God. This word conveys many concepts such as avoid angering Allah, act piously and righteously, be dutiful, God-fearing, good, noble and virtuousclean inner self, guard against or ward off evil and others condensed in our Commentary The Righteous. A/t/a, ‘fear God,’ ‘keep your duty,’ ‘ward off evil,’ ‘fear,’ ‘be mindful of your duty,’ ‘take Him as a shield,’ ‘to fear’ and ‘to be obedient … and fear’)
  • هُ — Ho — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. He. Refers to the Almighty God)
  • وَ — Wa…(ut) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • هُوَ — Ho-wa — He (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. He. Refers to the Almighty God. A/t/a, ‘He it is,’ ‘it is He’ and ‘He is the One’)  
  • الَّذِىۡ — La-zee — He who (= He; who; which)
  • اِلَيۡ — E-lai — To (= In the direction of; to; towards. A/t/a, ‘unto’ and ‘before Him’)
  • هِ — Hay — Him (= pro., s., m; 3rd person. Refers to the Almighty God. A/t/a, ‘Whom’)
  • تُحۡشَرُوۡنَ — Toh-sha-roo-n — Be brought (= v., pres., pass, pl., 2nd person., You will be brought to appear for an audience or have a hearing. Collected as if for an inspection. Rounded up for presentment. Also, assembled; banded; driven; gathered. A/t/a, ‘you shall be gathered,’ ‘ye will be gathered,’ ‘you shall all be gathered’ and ‘you shall be assembled.’ But the translation ‘we shall be Gathered’ is wrong for being in the 1st person and not of the word the Holy Qor-aan has used for the 2nd person)

قُلۡ اَنَدۡعُوۡا مِنۡ دُوۡنِ اللّٰهِ مَا لَا يَنۡفَعُنَا وَلَا يَضُرُّنَا وَنُرَدُّ عَلٰٓى اَعۡقَابِنَا بَعۡدَ اِذۡ هَدٰٮنَا اللّٰهُ كَالَّذِى اسۡتَهۡوَتۡهُ الشَّيٰطِيۡنُ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ حَيۡرَانَ ؕ لَـهٗۤ اَصۡحٰبٌ يَّدۡعُوۡنَهٗۤ اِلَى الۡهُدَى ائۡتِنَا   ؕ   قُلۡ اِنَّ هُدَى اللّٰهِ هُوَ الۡهُدٰى  ؕ  وَاُمِرۡنَا لِنُسۡلِمَ لِرَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَۙ‏  

 

Qool-aa-nud-oo-min-do-nil-laa-hay-maa                                                                                          Laa-yun-fa-o-naa-wa-laa-ya-dzoo-ro-naa                                                                                     Wa-no-rud-do-alaa-au-qaa-bay-naa                                                                                                Bau-da-iz-ha-daa-nul-laa-ho                                                                                                             Kul-la-ziss-tah-wut-hoosh-sha-yaa-tee-no                                                                                    Fil-ur-dzay-hai-raa-na

La-hoo-us-haa-boon-yud-oo-na-hoo-elul-ho-dau-tay-naa                                                        Qool-in-nul-ho-dul-laa-hay-ho-wul-ho-daa                                                                                      Wa-o-mir-naa-lay-noos-lay-ma-lay-rub-bil-aa-la-meen

 

You say: “Shall we pray other than Allah to what                                              Cannot benefit us and cannot harm us                                                                           And we turn on our heels                                                                                                          After Allah has guided us aright                                                                                          Like him whom the satanic folks have seduced                                                                To a state of confusion in the world?”

He has friends call him, “For guidance come to us.”                                                  You say, “Surely Allah’s guidance is the real Guidance                                            And We are commanded for submitting to the Lord Provident to the Universe”

  • هَدٰٮ — Ha-daa — Guided (= v., past., m., s. 3rd person. Coddled on correct course; directed accurately towards the best way; gave the best direction; guided to and led on the linier lines; put on the proper path; showed the right road.   • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)

  • الشَّيٰطِيۡنُ — Sha-yaa-te-no — The satanic (= n., pl., Plural of Satan. Bad or false deities, friends and people. Evil spirited companions, hypocrites, idolators, polytheists, rebels, ringleaders and wicked. A/t/a, ‘the evil ones,’ rebellious,’ ‘devils,’ ‘satans’ and ‘Shayatn (devils)’

The Only One Who provides all that sustains life. Ultimate Provider of air, water, food and whatever we and all other creatures need to live and subsist)
  • الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَۙ‏ — Aa-la-meen –The Universe   (= n., pl., As an attribute of God Almighty the word implies no limits. It means the Universe, all His creations, all that exists in whole Universe, all that has life, and Mankind. See Note 001:002. A/t/a, ‘the worlds,’ ‘all the worlds,’ ‘creation’ and ‘Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists’)

  يَسۡتَفۡتُوۡنَكَ ؕ  قُلِ اللّٰهُ يُفۡتِيۡكُمۡ فِى الۡـكَلٰلَةِ‌ ؕ  اِنِ امۡرُؤٌا هَلَكَ لَـيۡسَ لَهٗ وَلَدٌ وَّلَهٗۤ اُخۡتٌ فَلَهَا نِصۡفُ مَا تَرَكَ‌ ۚ   وَهُوَ يَرِثُهَاۤ اِنۡ لَّمۡ يَكُنۡ لَّهَا وَلَدٌ‌ ؕ  فَاِنۡ كَانَـتَا اثۡنَتَيۡنِ فَلَهُمَا الثُّلُثٰنِ مِمَّا تَرَكَ‌ ؕ  وَاِنۡ كَانُوۡۤا اِخۡوَةً رِّجَالًا وَّنِسَآءً فَلِلذَّكَرِ مِثۡلُ حَظِّ الۡاُنۡثَيَيۡنِ‌ ؕ  يُبَيِّنُ اللّٰهُ لَـكُمۡ اَنۡ تَضِلُّوۡا‌ ؕ  وَاللّٰهُ بِكُلِّ شَىۡءٍ عَلِيۡمٌ

 

Yus-tuf-to-noo-ka-qo-lil-laa-ho-yoof-te-koom-fil-ka-la-lah

Aiy-nim-ro-oon-ha-la-ka-lai-sa-la-hoo-wa-la-doon                                                                      Wa-la-hoo-ookh-toon-fa-la-haa-nis-fo-maa-ta-ra-ka                                                                    Wa-ho-wa-ya-ray-tho-haa-in-lum-ya-koon-la-haa-wa-la-doon

Fa-in-kaa-na-tuth-na-tai-nay                                                                                                              Fa-la-ho-muth-tho-lo-thaa-nay-mim-maa-ta-ra-ka

Wa-in-kaa-noo-ikh-wa-tur-ray-jaa-lunw-wa-nay-saa-un                                                        Fa-liz-za-ka-ray-mith-lo-huz-zil-oon-tha-yai-nay

Yo-buy-yay-nool-laa-ho-la-koom-un-to-dzil-loo                                                                            Wul-laa-ho-bay-kool-lay-shai-in-alee-m

 

They ask for your direction. Say, “Allah directs you regarding Ka-laa-lah.

If a man died and he had no child and he had a sister                                                  Then she will have one-half of what he left behind.                                                    And he will inherit her if she had no child.

But if there had been two sisters                                                                                    Then for them are two-thirds of what he left behind.

And if there had been siblings men and women                                                              Then for the male is like the share of two females.

Allah explains for you lest you err                                                                                          And Allah is Fully Aware of every thing

 

  • يَسۡتَفۡتُوۡنَ — Yus-tuf-to-na — They ask direction (= v., pres., pl., 3rd person. Ask, beg, inquire, invite, look; request, seek or solicit for a certitude, decision, decree, direction, guidance, instruction, judgment, mandate, opinion, order or verdict. A/t/a, ‘ask … For a legal decision,’ ‘ask for a decision,’ ask for instructions,’ ‘ask for a pronouncement,’ ask ‘directions concerning the inheritance,’ ‘ask … of your ruling (in the matter of inheritance of a kalalah,’ ‘ask for a legal verdict’ and ‘They consult’)
  • كَ — Ka — You (= pro., s., m., 2nd person. You single male. The addressee of this divine message is the Holy Prophet s.a.w. A/t/a,  ‘Thee’)
  • قُلِ — Qo-l(il) — You say (= v., pres., pl., 2nd person. Announce; convey; explain;  expound; inform; proclaim; profess; state; tell. A/t/a, ‘Say to them.’ See Commentary ‘You Say’ means)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • يُفۡتِيۡ — Yoof-te — Directs (= v., pres., s., 3rd person. Gives certitude, decision, decree, direction, guidance, instruction, judgment, mandate, order or verdict. A/t/a, ‘directs,’ ‘directs (thus),’ ‘gives … a decision,’ ‘gives … instructions,’ ‘gives … directions,’ ‘gives …  decision,’ ‘gives … ruling,’ ‘pronounces’ and ‘instructs.’ But translating the word as ‘pronounced’ in the past tense is not of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the present tense)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all. A/t/a, ‘for you’)
  • فِى — F…(il) — In (= About; concerning; in reference, regarding; relative to)
  • الۡـكَلٰلَةِ‌ — Ka-laa-la-tay — One who died leaving no parent, progeny or proper partner in life as a spouse. See also 004:013. A/t/a, ‘the person who has neither parents nor child,’ ‘distant kindred,’ ‘who have no descendants or ascendants as heirs,’ ‘Kalala,’ ‘Kalala … such a one,’ ‘kalalah (- one who has neither parents left nor a child,’ ‘those who leave no descendant nor ascendant as heir,’ ‘that die childless’ and ‘Al-Kalalah (those who leave neither descendants nor ascendants as heirs’)
  • اِنِ — Aiy-n…(im) — If (= In case; under the circumstances; when; when situation arises; whenever)
  • امۡرُؤٌا — Im-ro-oon — A man (= n., s., Deceased; decedent; person. A/t/a, ‘a man’ and ‘it is a man’)
  • هَلَكَ — Ha-la-ka — Died (= v., past., m,, s., 3rd person. Met death; passed away. A/t/a, ‘dies’ or ‘die’ but that in the present tense is not of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • لَيۡسَ — Lai-sa — No (= Absolute denial; never; not at all. A/t/a, ‘leaving no’)
  • لَ — La — For (= Ref to as he has no. Concerning; regarding; relative to)
  • هٗ — Hoo — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid decedent)
  • وَلَدٌ۬‌ — Wa-la-doon — A child (= Offspring. Refers to one or more sons or daughters. Some authors have translated this and the three prior words with a single word ‘childless.’ A/t/a, ‘no son’ and ‘no child’)

  • تَرَكَ — Ta-ra-ka — He left behind (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Left as inheritance for someone else to take care of. Also, abandoned; cast off; deserted; discarded; disowned; forsaken; rejected; saved, shelved or stored as a highly valuable souvenir; treated useless as derelict or redundant. A/t/a, ‘the heritage,’ ‘inheritance,’ ‘his inheritance’ and ‘his estate,’  but translating this word as a noun – or as verb, ‘leaves’ in the present tense – is inaccurate since the Holy Qor-aan has used this word as a verb in the past tense)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses. See وَ  above)
  • هُوَ — Ho-wa — He (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Him. A/t/a, ‘Her brother’ and ‘Likewise he (- the brother who is kalalah‘)

  • وَ — Wa…(ul) — And (= This vaao is tantamount to taking oath; solemn declaration)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)

  • بِ — Bay — With (= The Arabic word  بِ  literally means ‘with.’ A/t/A, ‘of’)
  • كُلِّ — Kool-lay — Every (= All; all sorts; altogether; each and everyone; everything; in every manner; very much. Also, entirely; exceedingly; greatly, highly; totally; wholly)
  • شَىۡءٍ — Shai-in — Thing (= n., s., Smallest part of any article, item, object, material, matter, things; phenomenon or stuff; to the least extent)
  • عَلِيۡمٌ — Alee-m — All-Knowing (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most, and highlights that none more than Him knows, is knowing; fully acquainted; informed to the maximum. Has total and perfect knowledge. Has nothing out of  sight. Knows all. Well-Aware. Most Knowledgeable. Well-Acquainted. See 001:001. A/t/a, ‘Knower’ and ‘All-Knower.’ But ‘knows … well,’ ‘hath knowledge,’ ‘has knowledge’ and ‘knows’ as a verb is no translation of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated as a noun about Allah)

  فَاَمَّا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا بِاللّٰهِ وَاعۡتَصَمُوۡا بِهٖ فَسَيُدۡخِلُهُمۡ فِىۡ رَحۡمَةٍ مِّنۡهُ وَفَضۡلٍ  ۙ  وَّيَهۡدِيۡهِمۡ اِلَيۡهِ صِرَاطًا مُّسۡتَقِيۡمًا  ؕ‏   

 

 

Fa-um-mul-la-zee-na-aa-ma-noo-bil-laa-hay                                                                            Wau-ta-sa-moo-bay-he-fa-sa                                                                                                              Yood-khay-lo-hoom-fee-rah-ma-tin-min-ho-wa-fudz-lin                                                              Wa-yah-de-him-elai-hay-say-raa-tum-moos-ta-qee-ma

 

So regards those who believed in Allah                                                                            And held fast with Him, then soon                                                                                      He will enter them in Mercy and Blessings from Him                                                And guide them to Himself in a right road

The Holy Qor-aan has used this word in the past tense; yet some authors translated it inaccurately in the present tense as ‘believe’ — like the one who was inconsistent with himself in what he had done just two verses earlier in 004:174. See Note 002:026c and Commentaries Islam – 101 and Believe and Disbelieve)
  • بِ — B…(il) — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with but the context here warrants to substitute it with an ‘in’)
  • اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • وَ — Wa…(au) — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • اعۡتَصَمُوۡا — Au-ta-sa-moo — They held fast (= v., past., pl., 3rd person. Attached; bonded; clung; connected; joined; linked up; sought; stuck. A/t/a, ‘held fast.’ But the translation as ‘hold fast’ in the present tense is not of what the Holy Qor-aan has stated in the past tense)
  • بِ — Bay — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with. A/t/a, ‘unto’ and ‘to’)
  • هٖ — He — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the Almighty God. This pronoun may also refer to the Belief in Allah stated in the 4th precedent word اٰمَنُوۡا )

  • فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Amidst. Among. Contained or inside a duration, event, place, period, person, phenomenon, situation, thing or time.   • رَحۡمَةٍ — Rah-ma-tin — Mercy (= Beneficence.  Clemency.  Compassion.  Condoning. Forgiveness.  Intercession.  Intervention.  Kindness. Leniency. Omitting, relenting or waiving punishment)
  • مِّنۡ — Min — From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several
  • هُ — Ho — Him (= pro., s., m., 3rd person. Refers to the Almighty God)

 يٰۤـاَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قَدۡ جَآءَكُمۡ بُرۡهَانٌ مِّنۡ رَّبِّكُمۡ وَاَنۡزَلۡنَاۤ اِلَيۡكُمۡ نُوۡرًا مُّبِيۡنًا‏

 

Yaa-auy-yo-hun-naa-so-qud-jaa-aa-koom                                                                                      Boor-haa-noon-mir-rub-bay-koom                                                                                                    Wa-un-zul-naa-elai-koom-noo-rum-mo-be-naa

 

Listen, People! Indeed reached you is                                                                                  A proof from your Lord                                                                                                          And We have sent down to you a brilliant Light

 

The Holy Qor-aan has used the Phrase Yaa-auy-yo-hun-naa-so … in many places

  • قَدۡ — Qud — Surely (= This word lays emphasis like indeed; definitely; surely. See Note 004:049 and our Commentary titled the “2 Words of Emphasis used together Multiply Effect.” A/t/a, ‘Now’)
  • جَآءَ — Jaa-aa — Reached (= v., past, s., 3rd person. Arrived; reached; returned. Also, in different contexts the word can mean achieved, brought, delivered, settled or succeeded. A/t/a, ‘hath come,’ ‘hath … come,’ ‘has … come,’ ‘has come’ and ‘have received’)

  فَاَمَّا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ فَيُوَفِّيۡهِمۡ اُجُوۡرَهُمۡ وَ يَزِيۡدُهُمۡ مِّنۡ فَضۡلِهٖ‌ ۚ   وَاَمَّا الَّذِيۡنَ اسۡتَـنۡكَفُوۡا وَاسۡتَكۡبَرُوۡا فَيُعَذِّبُهُمۡ عَذَابًا اَ لِيۡمًا   وَّلَا يَجِدُوۡنَ لَهُمۡ مِّنۡ دُوۡنِ اللّٰهِ وَلِيًّا وَّلَا نَصِيۡرًا‏

 

Fa-um-mul-la-ze-na-aa-ma-noo-wa-aa-may-loos-suaa-lay-haa-tay                                      Fo-yo-wuf-fee-him-o-joo-ra-hoom-wa-ya-ze-do-hoom-min-fudz-lay-he                                  Wa-um-mul-la-ze-na-nus-tun-ka-foo-wus-tuk-ba-roo                                                                  Fa-yo-uz-zay-bo-hoom-aa-zaa-bun-lee-maa                                                                                Wa-laa-ya-jay-do-na-la-hoom-min-do-nil-laa-hay                                                                      Wa-lee-yun-wa-laa-na-see-raa

 

So as far those who believed and practiced proper acts                                              Then He will fully pay them their rewards                                                                    And increase them out of His kindness                                                                              And as far those who derided others and prided themselves                                      Then He will punish them a painful punishment                                                            And besides Allah they won’t find for themselves                                                            A protecting friend and no Helper

  لَنۡ يَّسۡتَـنۡكِفَ الۡمَسِيۡحُ اَنۡ يَّكُوۡنَ عَبۡدًا لِّـلَّـهِ وَلَا الۡمَلٰٓٮِٕكَةُ الۡمُقَرَّبُوۡن َ‌ؕ  وَمَنۡ يَّسۡتَـنۡكِفۡ عَنۡ عِبَادَ تِهٖ وَيَسۡتَكۡبِرۡ فَسَيَحۡشُرُهُمۡ اِلَيۡهِ جَمِيۡعًا‏  

 

Lun-yus-tun-kay-ful-ma-se-ho-un-ya-koo-na                                                                                Ub-dun-lil-laa-hay-wa-lul-ma-laa-aiy-ka-tul-mo-qur-ra-boon                                                  Wa-mun-yus-tun-kif-un-ebaa-da-tay-he                                                                                         Fa-sa-yah-sho-ro-hoom-elai-hay-ja-mee-aa

 

The Messiah never turns away that he be                                                                            A servant of Allah, and not the angels nearest to God.                                              And whoever turns away from worshiping him and pride                                    Then very soon He will gather them all to Himself

  يٰۤـاَهۡلَ الۡكِتٰبِ لَا تَغۡلُوۡا فِىۡ دِيۡـنِكُمۡ وَلَا تَقُوۡلُوۡا عَلَى اللّٰهِ اِلَّا الۡحَـقَّ‌  ؕ  اِنَّمَا الۡمَسِيۡحُ عِيۡسَى ابۡنُ مَرۡيَمَ رَسُوۡلُ اللّٰهِ وَكَلِمَتُهٗ‌ ۚ  اَ لۡقٰٮهَاۤ اِلٰى مَرۡيَمَ وَرُوۡحٌ مِّنۡهُ‌ فَاٰمِنُوۡا بِاللّٰهِ وَرُسُلِهٖ‌ ‌ ۚ   وَلَا تَقُوۡلُوۡا ثَلٰثَةٌ‌  ؕ  اِنْتَهُوۡا خَيۡرًا لَّـكُمۡ‌ ؕ اِنَّمَا اللّٰهُ اِلٰـهٌ وَّاحِدٌ‌ ؕ   سُبۡحٰنَهٗۤ اَنۡ يَّكُوۡنَ لَهٗ وَلَدٌ‌ ۘ  لَهٗ مَا فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَمَا فِى الۡاَرۡضِ ؕ  وَكَفٰى بِاللّٰهِ وَكِيۡلًا ‏

 

Ya-ah-lul-kay-taa-bay-laa-tugh-loo-fee-de-nay-koom                                                            Wa-laa-ta-qoo-loo-alul-laa-hay-il-lul-huq

In-na-mul-ma-see-ho-ee-sub-no-mur-ya-ma                                                                                  Ra-soo-lool-laa-hay-wa-ka-lay-ma-ta-hoo                                                                                    Ul-qaa-haa-elaa-mur-ya-ma-wa-roo-hoom-min-ho

Fa-aa-may-noo-bil-laa-hay-wa-ro-so-lay-he                                                                                Wa-laa-ta-qoo-loo-tha-laa-tha-ta                                                                                                      In-ta-hoo-khai-roon-la-koom

In-na-mul-laa-ho-elaa-hoon-waa-hid                                                                                        Soob-haa-na-hoo-un-ya-koo-na-la-hoo-wa-la-doon                                                                La-hoo-maa-fis-sa-maa-waa-tay-wa-maa-fil-urdz                                                                      Wa-ka-faa-bil-laa-hay-va-kee-laa

Listen People of the Book! Do not cross the line in your religion                            And do not say about Allah anything but the Truth.

Certainly Messiah Jesus son of Mary was                                                                           A Messenger of Allah and His word                                                                                    He sent it to Mary and the Holy Spirit from Him.

So believe in Allah and His Messengers. And do not say, “Three.”                        Stop that. It’s better for you.

Surely Allah is the One and the only One God.                                                                Far above is His holiness to having a son.                                                                          For Him is all in heaven and all in earth.                                                                            And Allah has sufficed as the Care-Giver

Listen, People! Surely the Messenger came to you                                                  With the truth from your God. So believe. It’s excellent for you.                            And if you disbelieve then certainly                                                                                      For Allah is all that is in the heavens and earth                                                           And Allah has always been the Most Knowing, Very Wise 

 

The Holy Qor-aan has used the Phrase Yaa-auy-yo-hun-naa-so … in many places

  • يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; pay attention; O!)
  • اَيُّهَا — Auy-yo-h(un) — All (= All, entire or whole of the addressees or audience)
  • النَّاسُ — Naa-so — People (= Folks; mankind; nation. A/t/a, ‘O Mankind!’ and ‘Men’)
  • قَدۡ — Qud — Surely (= This word lays emphasis like indeed, surely, very definitely. See Note 004:049 and Commentary 2 Words of Emphasis used together Multiply Effect)
  • جَآءَ — Jaa-aa — Came (= v., past., s., 3rd person. Arrived; reached; returned, Also, the word can mean achieved, brought, delivered, settled, succeeded or would come. A/t/a, ‘hath come,’ ‘has come’ and ‘has brought’)
  • كُمُ — Ko-mo(or) — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person., You. A/t/a, ‘unto you’)
  • الرَّسُوۡلُ — Ro-sa-lo — Messenger (= n., s., Apostle; God’s messenger; prophet; sage; saint. A/t/a, ‘Messenger (Muhammad s.a.w)’
  • بِ — B…(il) — With (= Literally the word بِ  means with. A/t/a, ‘ in’)
  • الۡحَـقِّ — Ul-huq-qay — The Truth (= Appropriate; equitable; exactness; fair; fairness; just; just cause; justification; justice; justified conduct; preciseness; proper; reasonableness; suitable. Right. The word is also used to mean Islam, the Right Faith. A/t/a, ‘the truth’ and ‘Truth’)
  • مِنۡ — Min –From (= Among, from or out of the class or category of several
  • رَبِّ — Rub-bay — The Lord God Provident (= The Almighty Allah who fills all needs of all His creatures; Creator; Lord; Master; One Who sustains; The Ultimate Provider of Air, water, food and whatever we need to live and subsist. A/t/a, ‘Lord’)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., 2nd person. You all men. Generally this is the way the Holy Qor-aan addresses men and women)
  • فَ — Fa — So (= After all this; at the end; consequently; finally; hence; in conclusion; so; then; thereafter; therefore; thus)
  • اٰمِنُوۡا — Aa-may-noo — You believe (= v.,  pres.,  pl.,  2nd person.  Believe in the Holy  Qor-aan; become Moslem; enter the Faith of Isslaam A/t/a, ‘Have faith’ and ‘believe in him.’ See our Commentaries Islam – 101 and Belief & Disbelieve)
  • خَيۡرًا — Khai-run — Excellent (= Absolutely the tops; at apex; best; greatest; highest;  supreme; superior most; the top. Comparatively better, superior or of greater, higher or more value. A/t/a, ‘it is’ better,’ ‘it will be better’ and ‘it shall be well’ [njd])
  • لَ — La — For (= For person, purpose or reason; intended or meant for; concerning; regarding; relative to. A/t/a, ‘with’)
  • كُمۡ — Koom — You (= pro., pl., m., 2nd person., You . See  كُمۡ  above)
  • وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • اِنۡ — In — If (= In case; under the circumstances; when; when situation arises; whenever)
  • تَكۡفُرُوۡا — Tuk-fo-roo — You disbelieve (= v., pres, pl., 2nd person. Deny, refuse or reject the Faith or belief in Allah, the Holy Qor-aan, Islam and become Moslem. For more meanings see our Commentary Believe and Disbelieve)
  • فَ — Fa — Then (= After all this; at the end; consequently; so; then; thus. See فَ  above. A/t/a, ‘know that’)
  • اِنَّ — In-na — Certainly (= Absolutely; assuredly; categorically; certainly; clearly, decidedly; definitely; doubtlessly; earnestly; for sure; indeed; positively; really; seriously; sincerely; specifically; surely; truly; verily. A/t/a, ‘Lo’)

  The “Phrase lil-laa-hay …” in the next nine (9) words is repeated in several places

  • لِ — L … (il) — For (= Belonging to; for the benefit, person, purpose or reason. A/t/a, ‘belongeth’)
  • اللّٰهِ — Laa-hay — Allah (= The One and the Only One Almighty God)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — All that (= What; whatever; whatsoever. A/t/a, ‘all that’)
  • فِى — F … (is) — In (= About; amidst, among, inside a duration, time, place, period, thing or situation. Also, concerning; regarding, relative to or in reference. A/t/a, ‘contain.’See Note 002:028)
  • السَّمٰوٰتِ — Sa-maa-waa-tay — The heavens (= n., pl., All above ground or earth; clouds; firmament; heavens; rain; skies; universe. Also, knowledge of astronomical objects in space)
  • وَ — Wa — And  (= Conj., links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet)
  • مَاۤ — Maa — All that (= What; whatever; whatsoever)
  • فِى — F… (il) —  In (= About, inside a time, place or thing. See فِىۡ above)
  • الۡاَرۡضِ — Ul-ur-dzay — Earth (= n., s., Area; country; earth; ground; land; territory. Also, life on earth, nation; people or society in general)

  • كَانَ — Kaa-na…(ul) — Has always been (= v., past., s., m., 3rd person., Continued doing; had been; used to; went on doing. Indicates the continuity from the past to the present and leading into the future. A/t/a, ‘is’)
  • اللّٰهُ — Laa-ho — Allah (= The Almighty God; The only One worthy of worship)
  • عَلِيۡمًا — Alee-mun — All-Knowing   (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most, and highlights that none more than Him has full awareness, cognizance, information and knowledge. See 001:001. A/t/a, ‘All-Knowing,’ ‘full of knowledge,’ ‘ever Knowing’ and ‘ever Knower’)
  • حَكِيۡمًا‏ — Ha-ke-maa — All-Wise (= superlative form indicates the greatest, the highest, the most, and highlights that none more than Him is Exalted in wisdom. Best Possessor of wisdom. Extremely shrewd Full of wisdom. The Wisest. See 001:001. A/t/a, ‘All-Wise’ and ‘Wise’)

  • يٰۤ — Yaa — Listen (= Be attentive; pay attention; O!)
  • اَيُّهَا — Auy-yo-h(un) — You all (= All, entire or whole of the addressees or audience)
  • النَّاسُ — Naa-so — People (= Folks; mankind; nation)

049:014 ”    We created you as a male or female and put (assigned, placed) you in tribes (casts and clans) so that you may identify or recognize each other. Most honored in the eyes of Allah is he who does his duty to and avoids angering Him the most. (Read the notes under 002:003).
