Holy Qor-aan 003:089
خٰلِدِيۡنَ فِيۡهَا ۚ لَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنۡهُمُ الۡعَذَابُ وَلَا هُمۡ يُنۡظَرُوۡنَۙ
Khaa-lay-dee-na fee haa Laa yo-khuf-fa-fo un ho-mo ol-aa-zaa-bo Wa laa hoom yoon-za-roo-n
They will live in it. Punishment will not be reduced for them. And they will not looked at kindly and mercifully.
Verse 002:163 and verse 003:089 have the same text
- خٰلِدِيۡنَ — Khaa-lay-dee-na — Live (= Abide; dwell; reside; remain. For significant variations in the meanings of this word, see Note 002:040)
- فِىۡ — Fee — In (= Inside a duration, time, period, thing or place)
- هَا — Haa — It (= pro., s., f., 3rd person. Refers to the aforesaid ‘curse’ and ‘state of disapproval’)
- لَا — Laa — Not (= Absolute denial; never; none; not at all; total negation)
- يُخَفَّفُ — Yo-khuf-fa-fo — Will reduce (= v., pres., pass., s., m., 3rd person. Decrease, diminish, lessen, lighten, minimize or mitigate)
- عَنۡ — Un — From (= About; concerning; regarding; relative to)
- هُمُ — Ho-mo … (ol) — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid persons)
- الۡعَذَابُ — Aa-zaa-bo — Punishment (= Appropriate, due and fair agony, chastisement, doom, hard task, penalty, recompense; torment, torture or scourge)
- وَ — Wa — And (= Conj., It links words, phrases or clauses; additionally; but; also; more over; though; when; while; yet; whereupon)
- لَا — Laa — Not (= Absolute denial; never; not at all; total negation)
- هُمۡ — Hoom — Them (= pro., pl., m., 3rd person. Refers to aforesaid persons)
- يُنۡظَرُوۡنَ — Yoon-za-roo-n — Get reprieved (= v., pres., pass., pl., 3rd person. Here this verb is used relative to the Almighty God Who Alone does that with forgiveness, kindness and mercy — to allow another chance, give another opportunity, show consideration or grant respite . See Note 002:163)
Note 002:163. The root ن ظ ر carries the meanings of seeing. Its many derivates have as many shades of meaning such as gazing, looking, observing, seeing, surveying, watching etc.
Relative to the Almighty Allah, the word looking is with forgiveness, kindness and mercy — to allow another chance, give another opportunity, show consideration or grant respite. Examples are 002:163 which has the same text as 003:089, 006:009.
Relative to man, the word looking, gazing, observing, seeing, surveying, watching or waiting for something is like creating an impression of considering, contemplating, reflecting, realizing, thinking or taking notice. Examples are 002:211, 006:159, 007:054, 036:050

The Holy Qor-aan 003:088
اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ جَزَآؤُهُمۡ اَنَّ عَلَيۡهِمۡ لَعۡنَةَ اللّٰهِ وَالۡمَلٰٓٮِٕكَةِ وَالنَّاسِ اَجۡمَعِيۡنَۙ
O-laa-aiy-ka-ja-zaa-o-hoom-un-na Alai-him-lau-na-tal-laa-hay Wul-ma-laa-aiy-ka-tay-wun-naa-say-uj-ma-een
They all shall have the consequence that On them surely is the curse of Allah And the angels and the people altogether.
* Note 003:088. A broad and more appropriate is the translation as set above: The curse of Allah and the angels and the people altogether, or ‘All together‘ as M Zafrulla Khan and M Muhammad Ali put it, or ‘combined’ as M Pickhall put it.
However, a much narrower meaning appear in saying that ‘the curse of Allah, the angels, and all men; under it they shall abide forever” – N J Dawood.
Superficially the difference between two translations appears very trivial but distinction in meanings is real. The translation of اَجۡمَعِيۡنَ (Uj-ma-een = Altogether or combined) covers all those stated in the verse, but its translation of ‘all men’ narrows it tremendously to only people.
Furthermore, the addition of the word ‘forever’ has conveyed a concept which is contrary to Islam as discussed under 002:040.
Such differences in translations are the first step of difference in opinion that many years and centuries — kings and kingdoms — later has almost always resulted in establishing new sects in Islam as shown in Commentaries titled as Sect Formation and Sect Recognition.

** Note 002:218a. Mullah coined the theory that when a Moslem renounced Islam he must be put to death immediately. An instantaneous public lynching of anyone who recanted Islam to enter another Faith even before the State took action is a part of the Moslem history.
Common sense dictates that if a person merits execution for leaving Islam, the adherents of other Faiths have equal right to kill anyone who leaves their religion to enter Islam. That will end the evangelical spread of Islam by conversions which almost every Moslem believes.
A State-enforced death penalty for renouncing Islam is contrary to several provisions of the Holy Qor-aan. Freedom of religion and worship is a part of Islam. There is no compulsion in the matters of religion (002:257). Anyone can pursue any religion he deems fit (109:003 to 007).
God’s will established by verses 002:218, 003:087 to 003:092, and 003:107 categorically contradicts Mullah’s Modifications that entail death penalty for renouncing Islam. Those who abandon Islam suffer other after-effects mentioned in aforesaid verses. But Islam definitely does not mandate or even allow the execution of a convert from Islam to any other religion as a death penalty enforced by the State or public-lynching by the vigilantes.
The irresponsible, irreligious and inhumane Mullah’s Modification of Islam in the form of a death penalty for exiting Islam is one humongous misrepresentation of Islam.
